Dracos

Aesop checks the door for traps and then opens it.

[17:08] <Dracos> roll 1d100 versus 15 find traps

[17:08] <@Anastasia> Close enough to taunt.
[17:08] <Dracos> Hope it's not trapped with so close x-x
Well, Goodbye.

Anastasia

Once again Aesop does not detect any traps. It's a simple doorknob affair, ready to be turned and pushed in. The knob is wavy brass, like a bud that keeps opening up, and that could easily retract back into itself.

As Aesop opens it, a sharp pain spreads through his palm! As the knob is twisted it collapses back, a small, sharp blade cutting his hand as the door swings open!

> roll 1d4+1
* Hatbot --> "Anastasia rolls 1d4+1 and gets 3." [1d4=2]

3 damage, Aesop. update the #elysium topic.

Ahead is a small square room. Most of the floor is gone, except for a U that reaches to the tips of the northern wall. Past this narrow walkway is a pit - twenty feet deep. AT the ten foot mark a black gem floats in the air, perhaps three feet from floor level.

The pit itself isf ull of spikes and rusty, a vicious end awaiting any that fall in.

<IronDragoon> I mean, why not?

Dracos

Rather than doing things the hard way, Aesop sits a second near the doorway, working on some of the leather he brought with his dagger and forging a makeshift net out of it.  Hooking it around around his grapple he worked to safely ensnare the crystal from the doorway.

Dracos
Well, Goodbye.

Anastasia

Heh, that's interesting thinking, Aesop. Go ahead and make a couple of THACO checks.

[17:34] * Hatbot --> "Dracos rolls 1d20 thaco check 2 and gets 14." [1d20=14]
[17:34] <Dracos> Reminder: Halflings get bonuses for throwing things =D
[17:35] * @Anastasia nods. What ACs do you hit?
[17:35] * Udonge-usa is now known as SirAlex
[17:35] * ChanServ sets mode: +ao SirAlex SirAlex
[17:35] <Dracos> With daggers?  That would be hitting AC 2.  with raw, no bonus thac0: AC 5.  With dex+throwing bonuses, AC 2.
[17:36] <Dracos> (Dex is +2, throwing +1 for halflingness)
[17:36] <Dracos> tossing all that out there so it's there to know
[17:37] <@Anastasia> Anyway, post those
Well, Goodbye.

Anastasia

The efforts aren't quite good enough - it's a small target and a fair range. However, as you get close?

Woosh! From both left and right walls tiny panels slide back, twin arrows flying, right in front of the black crystal! So they meet there, bouncing off each other andf alling into the pit! A nasty hazard, the plates sliding back into hiding place once it's done. Notably the little walkway on the sides could mean one could get to the panels if they wished.

Dracos

Carefully making note of the two traps, he slowly wound back his rope, holding on and making sure that he was throwing with just enough to make it there and thus reducing the chances considerably it'd make it to the pit bottom below.  Aiming carefully he took his time and swung another toss at it.

[17:51] * Dracos rolls anyway
[17:52] <Dracos> roll 1d20 thac0 attempt 3
[17:52] * Hatbot --> "Dracos rolls 1d20 thac0 attempt 3 and gets 10." [1d20=10]
[17:52] <Dracos> roll 1d20 thac0 attempt 4
[17:52] * Hatbot --> "Dracos rolls 1d20 thac0 attempt 4 and gets 15." [1d20=15]
[17:52] <Dracos> Hits ac 1 now!

Dracos
Well, Goodbye.

Anastasia

The last throw is a success! Amid crashing arrows the net brings down it's target, sending it into a brush with the spikes!

Item save with a big bonus, just inc ase, since it's enchanted to be durable.

* Hatbot --> "Anastasia rolls 1d20+10 and gets 14." [1d20=4]

So it's snared, easily pulled up now! Got it!

Having both gems on him, he cautiously makes his way back, silent as a shadow, to the main locked door of the level, prepared for ambushes, falling ceilings, and the lord of Eisenschloss taunting him.

Dracos
Well, Goodbye.

Anastasia

The return trip is without incident. On reaching the door, the plaque's words await him, as well as the two sockets for gems.

'When the dark star reigns over the pale sun, the way to the future will open.'

Dracos

Aesop makes sure his hands are gloved and pads it a bit with pieces of leather before putting the white gem in the lower  slot and the dark one in the higher one.
Well, Goodbye.

Anastasia

Both gems and the door vanish! The way ahead is opened to Aesop in a glittering trail of black and white! A small stairway is here, six steps before a door - huge and imposing. A white skull is painted on the black iron, a great ominous feeling ahead.

"Hah! Well played, Aesop!" Your unnamed jailer taunts you, "Come! I await you past this door as does the stairs beyond!" HIs voice roars in your mind, making your temples pulse.

<IronDragoon> I mean, why not?

"your puzzles and traps are well made, Lord of Eisenschloss," Aesop boldly responded, examining for traps before making his way to the door and trying to open it.

[18:18] <Dracos> roll 1d100 vs 15
[18:18] * Hatbot --> "Dracos rolls 1d100 vs 15 and gets 23." [1d100=23]
Well, Goodbye.

Anastasia

You find no traps - and as you approach, the door slides aside into a million little parts, parting! Ahead is a candle lit room, a row of candelbreras on a red carpet path to the stairs! But standing at the base of the stairs is a man in pure black plate armor, arms crossed and wearing a white helmet in a skull motif. He chuckles ominously, easily over nine feet tall and shadowing you like a bug.

"You have done..adequately to make it this far. As a reward before I slaughter you with only my bare hands, I shall tel you my name! I am Ezerickal, servant to the Dark One and Warden of Eisenschloss!"

React/initiative.

Dracos

"Ah, painful that sounds, could we possibly avoid it Ezerickal.  Your puzzles have been oh so interesting and squished by your hands I certainly can't solve more of them right away," Aesop's hands, on that note, stealthy lay over daggers, ready to throw them the second Ezerickal moves while looking for doors surepticiously with his eyes.

Dracos
Well, Goodbye.
