After a intensive search, Rackham found a stone the size of a fist, with a relative flat side.

Figment

Finished with his perusal of the map, Devon handed it back to O'karn.

Arkanel sighed, and took another swig of his brandy.  "If you wish to go back, you can.  But how much more will Zaphiel have uncovered in your absence?  How much more harder will the task be?  Will those who don't wish to go back, just sit and wait till you return?  Or will they finish the deed I have asked of them, taking the treasure and reward for themselves."

Remdos shrugged. "Hey, it's not like it really affects me, I don't use magic like that so I don't have a problem. Was just offering what I thought was a viable alternative for those who do."

<Cidward> God willing, we'll all meet in Buttquest 2: The Quest for More Butts.

Arael frowned. "Well it does affect me. How long would it take to go back and return? And how much time is passing between our worlds, that we would need to be concerned about returning to a conquered world?"

kpjam

Arkanel frowned.  "I can only assume the trip is instantaneous.  But how long would it take you to procure the item you needed?  A day?  A month?  Should I check on you once a day?  How will I know you have finished? If you have such an item on your world, why didn't you bring it before?"

Sighing, she tried to reign in her temper. "Look, you're basically asking us why we didn't bring knives to a gun fight. We were not aware that our tools would be affected thusly. Do you blame the merchant for not having shovels if he didn't know that a landslide would bar his path?"

kpjam

Arkanel looked askance.  "I do not know what are knives and what are these guns you speak of, but you and your friend," he nodded to Remdos, " are the ones asking to go get your knives.  I merely asked, why you didn't bring the knives if they were worth anything in the first place?  Are the 'guns' that you can't use now so powerful that your knives are like stones to their river? And if you get them now, won't they still be stones to Zaphiles river?

"And if the merchant didn't bring a shovel when traveling places that might have a landslide, I would blame him.  For, I would assume he would stock shovels.  If he didn't sell them, I would assume he'd have one handy when traveling a place where a landslide might happen.  He'd also should have a spare part or two for his wagon, an extra shoe for his horse, etc..."

Taking back the map, O'karn put it in his back, turning on the others and looking the halfwits over.  "We leave at dawn for the mountains containing the fortress.  The head of the puny mortal will not lay on his shoulders when we leave.  I expect the guide will be here shortly, mage.  I find this house stiffling.  I will be outside waiting."

With that O'Karn moved for the doorway, heading back outside to wait for the ranger that had been summoned.

Fearless Leader
Well, Goodbye.

Arkanel called out to O'karn before he could get to the door.

"There's more room out back, if you wanted to post a tent or bedroll - the door behind me.  There's also beds in the basement, although you seem to not like being inside, the others might feel different.  I'll send him outside when he arrives."

O'Karn paused a second, and nodded, the only acknowledgement he gave to the mages words.  Stepping outside the huge ogre looked around.

Fearless Leader
Well, Goodbye.

O'karn walked out the front door.   He stood on the steps in front of the front door, there was a small yard in front that wrapped around the house out back.

OOC:  after some confusion, here's who is in the dining room.

Arkanel, Lafiel, Miaka, Arael, Devon, Remdos, Daggedal, Jeremiah.

Spotting Arkanel's niece standing by herself, Miaka made a beeline towards her. "Hi, you're Lafiel, right?" Frowning in mild disapproval, Miaka shook her finger at her, saying, "I heard you don't eat sweets anymore, and I think that's very bad for you." Taking the older girl's arm in a gentle yet firm grip, Miaka began pulling her towards the exit. "Let's start working on your rehabilitation as soon as possible!"
<Steph> I might have made a terrible mistake

Lafiel gasped in surprise, but allowed herself to dragged along.

"The inn a couple doors down sells some sweets, if you would like some?"

Carefully making a point of not explaining the part he had in messing up the teleport, Jeremiah drew himself up to his full height - which unfortunately wasn't particularly impressive - and swept the table with a piercing green gaze.

In an overly calm tone of voice, he stated what should have already been clear to some of these buffoons.  "Obviously, those of us who use magic are relying upon it.  Can we attempt to discuss this like rational men - and women - or are we going to condemn ourselves to failure because some amongst us are incapable of reigning in their tempers?"

He paused a moment.

"Claify this for me.  Where and why did magic become forbidden?"
Hangin' out backstage, waiting for the show.
