Oct 13 19:38:38 <Knight>   Knight snorts to herself, and swings herself onto the back of the pegasus. "Out. We're going out," she commands, gesturing forward with her lance. "That arrogance of yours, where did it come from, I wonder? What deeds have you done?"
Oct 13 19:45:12 <Kotono>   As Knight and Adail head out, out into the open air all around, "What won't I do?" your mount banters back.
Oct 13 19:47:30 <Knight>   "On your own? Probably nothing. It's a rare being that can accomplish much of anything without help," replies Knight. "We'll practice diving today. Start gaining altitude."
Oct 13 19:53:06 *   Adail is clinging on to some manner of strap attached to Bellerophon's saddle, so he can translate while they practice. He may get bounced around alot by the movements but doesn't seem to mind too much.
Oct 13 19:53:46 <Eva>   The scent of brimstone seemed to travel through the air as Bellerophon rose above the roofs, the crackle of fire forming a portal ahead, a black-clad rider coming forth upon a skeletal horse, fire and ash falling from its hoofprints as his voice echoed forth. "The portal is open unto the plane of air...go forth and tear these peace loving deizens from their pleasant dreams, rend their flesh and drag their souls back to the abyss..."  Screeches of agreement seemed to come from the flaming circle behind him, slowly but steadily growing as the more skeletal creatures seemed to be pulling their way free.
Oct 13 19:55:19 <Kotono>   Bellephoron bucks in the air, snorting, "What is that? Demons and undead from the Abyss?!"
Oct 13 19:57:27 *   Adail narrows his eyes and raises his Protection from Evil effect...casting it audibly to give some credence to Eva's act.
Oct 13 19:57:42 <Knight>   "Here? That should be impossible," growls Knight, twisting her head down to look at the demonic forces. "And this side of the city is far from the barracks of the guard, or even the guilds."
Oct 13 19:58:43 <Kotono>   "Then we don't have a choice!" Bellephron calls, "Knight, we must go to battle and stop them before they spread!"
Oct 13 20:01:06 <Knight>   "You speak the truth!" responds Knight, pointing downwards with her lance. "We must slay their leader, and the rest will surely scatter! Prepare to dive," she adds, checking her own stability. "Trust in my lance."
Oct 13 20:01:32 <Eva>   "A little knight on a green steed?" The demonic figure snorted, urging his own dark mount forward as he drew forth a crackling blade, fire seeming to streak behind its  every motion.  "I will crush you where you stand," he thundered, rushing quickly toward the Knight, his sword seeming aimed right to cut off her head, rushing before Bellerephon could gather speed.
Oct 13 20:02:12 <Kotono>   "Then let us charge!" Bellerephon calls, diving down at Knight's prodding! OOC: Eva, yo'ure running the illusion and Knight's in on it, as is Adail, so go ahead and resolve it.
Oct 13 20:03:18 *   Adail releases his grip on the strap so he can move on his own instead of being dragged along in a dive.
Oct 13 20:04:58 *   Adail also kinda hangs back to let Knight test her steed without his interferance, using the fact that Bellerophon probably discounts him as a combatant to Knight's advantage here.
Oct 13 20:06:41 <Knight>   Knight twists in the saddle, and her lance meets the opposing sword with a crash! The white and black steeds fly past each other moment later, and the woman curses. "Swoop about, and invert our gravitational axis! Again!"
Oct 13 20:07:01 <Eva>   The flames grew more intense, almost..not really almost, feeling like being burned as the two crossed near, real flames streaking along Bellerephon's side his sword slamming into Knight's raised guard with a heavy clang, the demon turning in midair, not seeming quite as fast.
Oct 13 20:15:46 <Kotono>   The horse and rider fly past! Flames lick the pegasus, who snorts and blows oot out of it's nose, clearing it! "Faster!" it agrees, "Strike the demon down, Knight!"
Oct 13 20:16:54 <Eva>   The skeletal horse had mostly turned, the rider seeming just about to begin another charge toward Knight.
Oct 13 20:17:04 <Knight>   "One hit is all I need!" shouts Knight, and this time, her lance lunges towards the mounted demon's heart at a speed it cannot match!
Oct 13 20:18:24 <Kotono>   Bellephoron throws all it's speed into the charge, hurling Knight towards her goal as fast as he's able!
Oct 13 20:22:05 <Eva>   The two meet with a mighty clash, the figure seeming slammed by the lance as it flew off the horse carried along a moment before sliding off, a screech of horrible pain and rage filling the air as the blade slashed  near Knight's armor.  The darkened figure slid off the land, falling down the city far below as the portal crackled and with a thunderous clash slammed shut.

Oct 13 20:26:37 <Knight>   Knight shakes imaginary blood off her lance, and holds it level with Bellerophon. "One more notch," she murmurs, grinning. "Good work. Nothing can stand before our charge!"
Oct 13 20:28:26 <Kotono>   "Hah, it was no match!" Bellerophon exults, "The demon was crushed by our might!"
Oct 13 20:30:49 <Knight>   "We were lucky there was only one real threat. In most battles, there's more than one foe who would strike at us," warns Knight, guiding Bellerophon back to hover near the stable. "To this day, we've not been donning armour, but it may be necessary henceforth. If you can handle the extra weight, that is."
Oct 13 20:32:20 <Kotono>   "It is easy enough to handle," Snorting in the air as he is lead down, "The weight will not slow me in the least!"
Oct 13 20:35:33 <Knight>   "Then our serious training will begin," replies Knight. "But listen up! Our defeat of that demon was no great challenge. But powerful as our charge is, know that it relies on three entities; the lance, the rider, and the steed. Without any one of these, a cavalier is reduced to less than a footman- near-deadweight on the battlefield."
Oct 13 20:37:04 <Kotono>   "I see that now," As he hovers in the endless air, "What of your lance, is it sufficient?"
Oct 13 20:39:33 <Knight>   "My lance has borne me through many battles," replies Knight. "It is possessed of some magic, I was told. See, how the tip glows with faint radiance?"
Oct 13 20:41:22 <Kotono>   "Ah, magic?" Peering at the lance, "A formidible part of the cavalier then?"
Oct 13 20:42:44 <Knight>   "So I'm told, although I don't count on it. As long as the lance is of good make, nothing, not even an angel or devil cannot be destroyed."

Oct 13 19:35:37 <Mari>   "Just like the last time you talked to a celestial? I'm sure someone, somewhere, has a better idea. We'll talk it over with the others when we regroup." Mari shrugs and takes another drink.
Oct 13 19:36:59 <Nikkolai>   "I wasn't thinking of talking, dear girl." Nikkolai says in a slightly annoyed tone. "More along the lines of distracting her, sneaking behind her, and stabbing her in the back. So to speak."
Oct 13 19:37:00 <Kotono>   "Right." Finishing her second drink in a hurry, "So then, anything else while we're all running our gums?"
Oct 13 19:37:39 <Nikkolai>   "You never did answer my question. Would anyone in town possibly offer a monetary reward for the Deva's removal?"

Oct 13 20:19:41 <Kotono>   Thus the two fly closer and closer! At about one hundred feet away, Nikkolai spots movement! Coming from behind the stone house is a beautiful winged woman. Her hair is black with sparkling motes in it, wearing gauzy silks like the dust of comets. A mace is in her hand, her wings long and magnificent. With an energetic, imperious look, "Halt there, travelers!"

And that you're restricting access to this portal while you're searching. If it please you, I would like to ask you why you cause this town such distress."

Oct 13 20:59:46 <Kotono>   "No! I'm going to Stratusberg now!" As she speaks, Star begins to fly, hurrying towards Stratusberg as fast as her wings can carry her. This is pretty fast, too.

Oct 13 21:01:52 *   Mari does so, pursuing the deva as best as she is able. If she can't keep up, finding the others in town before Star causes too much damage is the highest priority.

As they do, idle conversation bantered back and forth, Knight twitches.  The feeling is a welcome and exciting one - one of her family is getting closer. Closer, closer, closer. A feeling of closeness. Close.

Oct 13 21:20:59 <Knight>   "We're very close," replies Knight, glancing over her shoulder. "We're linked by something more than blood. I wasn't just casting about at random, I always knew which way to go."

Oct 13 21:23:23 <Kotono>   Thus th ethree return towards the inn. AS they do...farther away, approaching Stratusberg, are Star, Nikkolai and Mari. The first of them is going ahead relenetlessly, "I...I can feel something," she says, "One of them is close!"
