[19:03] <Seira> Threatening the damn thing was the most effective thing she had done so far, and Seira recognizes the advantage enough to press it. The sword of three blades rusts all over, becoming dust in the blink of an eye. Rust monsters are being summoned next to every visible source of metal, no matter how insignificant, as an upset Seira glares down at the orb in her arms, refusing to do her bidding. Once it submits, however, the terrible monsters
[19:03] <Seira>  disappear in a flash, while ore sprouts from the ground, covering it in metal grass. Trees bear mithral fruit, and Seira brushes her mind against the orb's, making them take flight, blotting out the skies.

[19:23] <Kotono> Images continue to flood Seira's mind, the orb lightly heating in her hand. Diagrams of things and metalline objects, acountercurrent of desire. But the orb doesn't seem to be coming to beck or call right offhand.
[19:27] <Seira> She's shown the stick. The carrot, then, is an image of Seira embracing the designs, stopping at a blacksmith's forge to create the beautiful sword she had seen earlier. As the orb reaches out to transform it into its three-bladed form, however, she stops it cold with her will, forcing the sword to remain as it is, for she is to be the dominant one in their partnership. To illustrate the point, and bring unwelcome memories of a sad, lonel

[19:38] <Kotono> The orb cools furtheri n Seira's hand. The flood of images seems to distill down somewhat, clarity returning.
[19:40] <Seira> The more her mind clears, the more Seira allows the images that appeared to surround her, tying their presence directly to the level of control she has over her link with the orb. An excited spite is unavoidable, and she savagely cuts down on the imagery, reinforcing her commands with a physical summoning of yet more cool water.

[19:54] <Kotono> Seira feels her will pushed back! While she isn't taken over again, she's pretty much removed from contact with the orb this time, shaken but in control.
[19:58] <Seira> "Damn you!" she calls out angrily, channeling her near loss of control into empowering rage. "Alone, you are nothing! Bereft of a master, your future is oblivion! Do you really want to spend another millennium locked away? Do you?!" Breathing heavily, Seira casts Water Breathing upon herself. "Last goddamn chance, you upstart paperweight!"

[20:05] <Kotono> The orb withers in the light of that pure, unbridled rage, seeming to cool off entirely in Seira's hands.
[20:08] <Seira> "That's better," Seira snaps. Standing up, she heads towards the door, opening it and looking at the metal objects embedded in the other side, orb still held in her arms.
[20:09] <Kotono> There's a few cases of silveware, several coins and even a few nails from chairs and the like. This door's just messed up. Elle follows along, "Got it?" she asks, a bit tense.
[20:10] * Seira lets her actions speak for themselves. "Clean this up," she orders tersely, sweeping her hand over the various metals. Her mind supplies the image of them gathered in a pyramid before her.
[20:14] <Kotono> Clink! The silverware is yanked out of the door, as are the other things such as coins. They neatly stack up on command.
[20:16] <Seira> "Good," she says neutrally. "You will be rewarded when I call upon you next, Lagann." Having named her orb, Seira places it back on the table in the room she used for testing, and rejoins Elle with the metal-plated ball she finds lying discarded in the room's corner.
[20:18] <Kotono> "Finally." Elle breathes out, "How does it work, anyway?"
[20:20] <Seira> "Lagann submitted to my will!" Seira tells her brightly. "Isn't that grand?"
[20:20] <Kotono> "Lagann?" An eyebrow is raised again, "What exactly is it? A bound spirit, yes? Is it sane? Communicatable?"
[20:22] <Seira> "It's an insane guy that really likes metals. As a reward for being my flunky I'll indulge him in that, so we both benefit." Seira pauses. "I named him, because I can't keep on calling him Orb or Dammit, You."
[20:22] <Kotono> "A pity. Taking down a magical creature with a string of Dammit, You would have been a sight," Elle chuckles a little at it, "Wait, you said it's a guy? I mean, I know about the voice, but do you mean it's a real soul?"
[20:25] <Seira> "I'm sure he'll answer to whatever I call it, so I could make an exception one day for your sake," Seira offers. "And... the gender is male, but I can't say if it's a spirit, a soul, a construct or a bound devil. Probably not the latter, since it's not visibly evil to my paladin friends, but you never know." Seira snorts, then. "I know what you're thinking, but right now, I'm out of options unless I either want to submit myself or leave i

[20:28] <Kotono> "Yeah. If it's a real soul or something that's sentinent..." A shrug, "It's worth looking into considering the gnomes' record."
[20:30] <Seira> "Speaking of that, I'll look into the language I heard it speak. I should be able to determine it with sufficient study," Seira muses. "I don't suppose I need to ask you to keep all this to ourselves? Some would try to possess or break the orb, both of which are extremely bad options with unpreditable consequences."

[20:12] <Kotono> Okay, Cor, coin first?
[20:13] <Seira> Yeah, let's find out what are much smarter friends know about it
[20:14] <Kotono> Okay, this is dated info since we both forgot about it. But in short: It's been blessed by Waukeen. It's given to someone with favor in her eyes, especially if they've done good spreading trading, wealth or her ideas. It's a relatively minor token, but it's a symbolic sort of thing.
[20:15] <Seira> This means I can mount it on the wall and not bother unlocking its mysterious arcane secrets
[20:16] <Seira> Works for me!
<Steph> I might have made a terrible mistake

[21:16] <Kotono> Calling of the High Priest of Waukeen in Balmuria is easier for some than others. For Seira it's not terribly hard, even on a busy day where iron traders come to pray and goods change hands many times. In his pleasant personal quarters, "So..." Gilean begins leadingly, a slight look ofinterest, "What do I owe the honor of this visit to, Seira?"
[21:18] <Seira> "You know how there are times I want to be more active in the temple?" Seira asks without preamble. "Not that I feel guilty or anything over some neglection of duties, but I feel that you're all doing a very important job here. To yourselves, to the city, to Waukeen." She shrugs. "Well, now is one of those times."
[21:20] <Kotono> "Are you interesting in taking after your father?" Gilean asks with a hint of interest there. "Or in other ways?"
[21:22] <Seira> "I'm not about to walk off on a crazy quest without staying in touch with a few easy spells, no," Seira responds, irritation showing before she schools her features. "I've recently come upon a cache of unique weapons I originally intended to retrieve for the Guard, but then I thought of us. Perhaps, there are half a dozen priests who would like to have a more hands on experience than they'd normally get?"
[21:25] <Kotono> Gilead cracks the faintest smile as Seira recalls the first half of her statement, then listens for the second. "Do we speak of magical weapons, here? Or another sort of unique weapons?"
[21:27] <Seira> "Unique," she responds. "If you remember the glaives we recovered from the devil invasion a while back, they had abilities equivalent to magic while not truly of the divine or arcane of their own right. This is a similar case. Devils crafted them out of gnomish steel for their long-dead vertically-challenged masters, though a pair of paladins reluctantly conceded that the weapons in question hold no signs of evil themselves."
[21:32] <Kotono> "Fascinating. They sound like lovely arms and armor." Going on from that, Gilead smiles faintly, "What are they like?"
[21:34] <Seira> "They look pretty intimidating, and further investigation into their nature suggests there might be something supernatural enforcing the emotion. The quality itself is superb, as said devils have had centuries to perfect the weapons and the armors in question, and their skills at crafting are literally inhumane." She blinks. "As in, not human, not cruel and unusual abuse of metal kind of way."
[21:37] <Kotono> "Ah." Gilead's smile flickers upward at that, as he rises. "Well, before anything else, I'd like to have them appraised by own men. At no cost to you, under the circumstances."
[21:38] <Kotono> *by our
[21:39] <Seira> "I think they could fetch a decent price, though I'd prefer the temple actually kept them," Seira voices, likewise standing.
[21:41] <Kotono> "We very well may, you misunderstand. I simply wish to go into this with my eyes fully open." Gilead begins to go to a dresser, getting a wineglass while looking at Seira questioningly. "Now, is this a donation out of your reverence for Her Lady, or...?"
[21:42] <Seira> "Not really, I just like you guys," Seira says honestly, if bluntly.
[21:43] <Kotono> "Then we will thank you most kindly. Speakign of your matters..." A shake of his head, "Has your father seen the light of day yet?"
[21:45] <Seira> Seira's left eyelid twitches. "I'm afraid not. My divinations suggest it is not to be for another seventy years, give or take a couple. But he's not the one I came here to discuss, unless you have some fresh information...?"
[21:46] <Kotono> Gilean's sigh is vast. "I wish we had. But as far as we can tell, Waukeen herself may have very well taken Saul to Brightwater. I wish I could tell you otherwise, Seira. Or that, even in the worst, I would awaken with the magic required to bring him back to you from Her."
[21:49] <Seira> "You mean like Sending?" she asks, before waving her hand dismissively. "Nah. If he wanted to use it, he could have. I'll find him one day on my own, and my strength would make him cry." Seira seems excited at the prospect, before coughing into her fist. "Be that as it may, I also wanted to inquire about being more active in the temple. While helping the acolytes would be enough for simple involvement, I believe our time would be better s
[21:49] <Seira> erved in different functions. I hoped to use this chance to consult with you on them."
[21:50] <Kotono> "We would welcome it," Gilead smiles at that, more open. "You hav esome of your father's talent, as well as a string of your own success, as well as your own fame to call your own."
[21:52] <Seira> "Plus I have a wizard's tower. That's a symbol of status right there!" Seira adds happily. "But speaking of this welcome," she says, suddenly businesslike once more, "while being a donor works well enough, my unique position in these parts means that greater cooperation might benefit the temple, Waukeen's cause, and clearly myself as well."
[21:53] <Kotono> "Naturally. I suspect you have your own sticks in the fire, Seira?" Gilean goes back to sitting, wineglass filled.
[21:57] <Seira> Seira doesn't quite get what he means, but presses ahead anyway. "You know the sayings. The whole is greater than the parts. Together we stand, divided we fall. I came across quite a few cliches in my light reading, some of them better translateable than others. But the point remains the same -- working together as a single political entity, for all intents and purposes, would let both myself and the temple achieve things we could not dre
[21:57] <Seira> am of on our own. Closer financial ties would bring us even farther ahead, but I would like my ventures to show sustainable profit over at least a year before I suggest that part and expect to be taken seriously, of course."
[22:01] <Kotono> "MMmmm." Gilean swishes his small bit of wine around in the glass, eyeing it. "I have no objections offhand, if it fails, it fails and we both return to the previous status."
[22:14] <Seira> Seira nods. "My thoughts exactly. In fact, there's not that much to gain materially at the start, I admit. Better conditions, perhaps, but this is peanuts." She leands forward, elbows resting on her knees. "However, there are going to be massive changes in the political landscape soon. Some waves can already be felt, and I can safely say without betraying classified details that much more is yet to come." She pauses, twisting her nose in
[22:14] <Seira> distaste. "And you know how certain people react to change. Should there be any opposition to the betterment of us all, an independant political entity should support Lord Salman in his endeavors without having it appear as a heavy-handed rule that doesn't care to listen to the subjects' desires."
[22:16] <Kotono> "...aaah, I see." The High Priest of Waukeen leans back, steepling his fingers together and putting aside his wineglass. "Indeed. While war brings great profit, stability is full of it's own greater rewards for trade." He meditates on that briefly, "Hm. Can you elaborate on this situation at all?"
[22:21] <Seira> "I can, if this goes no further," Seira allows, searching for a glass of wine for herself. "We expect to have a treaty with Malmuth, which should be an open secret by now, but what is perhaps less known is that Pallanth are very eager to have the three of us cooperate. It should go without saying that Malmuth want that even more. Further, we have made several secret overtures to bring us closer to the Fiefdoms, and it is almost time for t
[22:22] <Seira> hat venture to bear fruit." Seira smiles fondly. "And the sea elf visit to our city a while back was quite important. Some people know that these elves represent a prospering society, but fewer realize it exists only a few hours away from us. And almost no one knows that it serves as a portal to another plane, a portal that we have learned to operate." She seems quite smug by now. "When this all comes together, someone would need to be re
[22:22] <Seira> ady to cater to the special needs creates, to negotiate and be the go-between. I couldn't, for the life of me, think of a better-equipped or a worthier organization than the temple to Waukeen. Could you?"
[22:28] <Kotono> "Mmmm." Closing his eyes to think, Gilead is quiet for a short time. "Naturally not. There would be no better but for Waukeen to guide such endevours. So...a vast trading network, centering on this city, is that your goal?"
[22:33] <Seira> "My goal?" Seira repeats, smiling lightly. She tastes the wine, savoring it. "A world-spanning guild, large enough to warrant Waukeen's direct approval, with its heart located here. Commerce, communication... intelligence gathered inobtrusively, merely by existing and the nature of being everpresent... peaceful contact with other planes of existence and even other realities...." She eyes Gilead. "My vision is quite similar to yours, if ul
[22:33] <Seira> timately more ambitious."
[22:33] <Kotono> "One question, however," Gilead asks after hearing that. "Does Saul play into this at all?"
[22:35] * Seira is taken aback by the unexpected query. "He would approve," she says at length. "The guild would help the common man, while remaining profitable for those involved and help spread Waukeen's ideals."
[22:40] <Kotono> "Mmmm." Seira gets a long nod back, "Allow me some time to think on this, but your words are so honeyed and promising as to tempt me vastly before I even consider it. Realistically...as long as the above clause is in effect, I don't see any reason to turn you down."
[22:42] <Seira> "I thought I was being quite direct," she says, mildly offended. "I didn't try to trap you with words or anything like that."
[22:44] <Kotono> "Oh no, but only a fool does not consider before plunging into something this large," Gilead notes calmly. "No disrespect intended, only apt caution."
[22:44] * Seira nods. "That I can get behind. It would take time on my part, anyway, to get everything ready. Except for the weapons. Those I can have delivered right away."
[22:45] <Kotono> "Alright. I'll send a message in a day or two." Gilead stands, offering his hand. "Still...to shake on it now, and hope for excelelnt results?"
[22:46] * Seira offers her right hand without reservations, the wine glass safe in the other one.
[22:47] <Kotono> The two shake, and on that...(OOC - This a good cut point for you here, Seira?_

[19:12] <Tiny_Ko_Army> ----
[19:14] <Tiny_Ko_Army> Even the brightest possible kingdom has dark places. Such is the reality of the world, and one such place is where Seira heads. Deep cells and isolated rooms, far away from the sun's light. Here those that have commited grave offenses or are dangerous to the Baronies reside. A guard accompanies here, unlocking doors as they head in. "That bunch, the ones with all the specific precautions on them," the guard asks as you get close. "Will
[19:14] <Tiny_Ko_Army> "Will you be needing anything, ma'am?"
[19:20] <Seira> Seira knows this well, for she was the one who put these particular prisoners there. And the specific precautions, warranted by her caution, couldn't have ingratiated her overmuch to that bunch. However, Seira gambles that their will is shaken, if not broken, as is their utter belief in their former master. That, along with an offer of freedom, however limited or conditional, just might be enough to turn this situation around. "Merely you
[19:20] <Seira> r vigilance in the extremely unlikely case they will get past me," she informs the guard, having deposited her various scrolls and wands at the entrance to the prison, confident in her innate skills and the sword at her hip. "And if I attempt to move past you without the codename of 'Orange' upon my return, do your very best to kill my likeness before rescuing the real me."
[19:21] <Tiny_Ko_Army> The guard nods and salutes, "Yes, ma'am. I've been informed of the powers of each prisoner. That one in particular has a close eye kept on him."
[19:32] * Seira returns the salute. "Then I'm at ease." And with that, she proceeds onwards, headed for Nerylish's cell.
[19:33] * IllicitKetchup is now known as JihadBoyz
[19:34] <Tiny_Ko_Army> Nerylish's cell is a quiet place, a few bars letting light come in from the hall. In there you can see a prisoner lying on a cot, quiet. Her eyes are open, the light illuminating them. You note they've dilated, becoming a slow, magical aura glowing shade of blue.
[19:35] <Seira> "That's a neat trick," Seira comments, coming in and closing the door behind her.
[19:37] <Tiny_Ko_Army> Squinting as the door is opened, Nerylish shields her eyes with one hand. "Who...?" she squints and blinks, "...you." her voice is strangely longing and yet harsh, "What do you want?"
[19:38] <Tiny_Ko_Army> As she looks, her eyes squint shut. Nerylish blinks several times, "So bright. The magic's so bright. It's been too long."
[19:39] * Seira bites down on her sarcastic response, instead asking, "Mind if I sit there?" while indicating the cot.
[19:39] <Tiny_Ko_Army> Nerylish sits up, freeing the space. She looks at Seira in rapturement, eyes slowly opening all the way. "There's so much of it..." she reaches a hand out towards Seira, shaking. "It's just how I remembered it, too."
[19:40] <Seira> "It's been a while, hasn't it?" Seira muses, thinking back. "I can't imagine our dungeons had been a pleasant experience."
[19:41] <Tiny_Ko_Army> Lightly, Nerylish stares at Seira. "It's been horrible," she answers at last, "Where's the Master? ..." Nerylish looks away, before sighing. "He's not coming back, is he?"
[19:45] <Seira> Seira takes a seat by Nerylish, seemingly unconcerned that the bedraggled prisoner would attempt to assault her or snatch her sword. "Despite my intentions, we could not provide the protective magics to shield this place from divination or teleportation, nor magically ensure the guards' protection of the structure or its inhabitants. It's not difficult to draw a conclusion from that."
[19:45] <Seira> *protection of the secrets
[19:46] <Tiny_Ko_Army> Nerylish hangs her head, "Yeah. More I thought about it as the time went by, the more I thought we'd gotten scammed. Scammed damned good. The Master could do things we couldn't even dream of, so what's giving the fodder a few drops to make them loyal?"
[19:48] <Seira> "Well, he might've elevated you to minions if we didn't track him down," Seira suggests with a shrug. "But yes. Nothing comes free. He wasn't helping you develop magic out of the goodness of his heart."
[19:49] <Tiny_Ko_Army> "..yeah. So..." she looks up at Seira, mystical eyes wet. "So did you come to tell us we're sitting in a cell until our dotage?"
[19:51] <Seira> "There's one option," Seira agrees with a snort. "I've come to offer you another. To not mince words, it's probation. You'll serve me, and in return, I will hold the key to your clemency." Seira goes over what she had just said in her mind. "The 'you' is meant as plural, here, though I felt it best to make the offer individually, starting with you."
[19:53] <Tiny_Ko_Army> "Of course I'll take it if it gets me out of this cell," Nerylish answers almost instantly, "What is it?"
[19:55] <Seira> "However the circumstances of you gaining your powers, the fact remains that you are both mages and citizens of the Baronies. I have now effectively been placed in charge over all the untrained mages in our land, and with a somewhat liberal interpretation of my orders, my authority is enough to commute your sentence. I will take over your training, and have you help out at the school for mages that I have started. There would not be anyth
[19:55] <Seira> ing particularly demeaning about the job, naturally."
[19:58] <Tiny_Ko_Army> "I accept," Nerylish answers without hesitation again. "There's no choice to be made, I don't want to sit in this cell forever. Train me away."
[19:59] * Seira nods. "And what of your erstwhile companions? I need an honest estimate; would the offer be of interest to them?"
[20:01] <Tiny_Ko_Army> "I...Hamand is anyone's guess now." She bows her head and sniffles. "John very well may, I don'tk now of Gregort. We don't often get to talk."
[20:02] <Seira> "Let's find out," Seira proposes suddenly, standing up. "I'll take you with me to see John now, if you would like."
[20:03] <Tiny_Ko_Army> Nerylish rises quickly, looking to the cell door. "Alright," she agrees, then, "...finally. Out of this damned cell!"
[20:03] * Seira walks towards the door, knocking twice on it for the guard posted outside to open it for her.
[20:04] <Tiny_Ko_Army> The guard opens it, watching Seira and Nerylish as they exit. "Anything else, Ma'am?"
[20:06] <Seira> "I require four sets of forms that would release the prisoners to my custody," Seira requests from the guard, before heading for John's cell.
[20:08] <Tiny_Ko_Army> As the soldier quickly scurries to that and orders another guard to take his place, Seira approaches his cell. The door has a small viewing window like the last, showing the man. He's chained at the arms, legs and torso, a pile of straw and old pillows to lie on. He stares up at the ceiling, unmoving.
[20:09] * Seira enters his cell with Nerylish in tow, waiting for him to make the first move, even if it's just acknowledging them.
[20:12] <Tiny_Ko_Army> His face shifts a dozen times as he looks up - from male to female, back and forth from old to young. Yet constant about it is a look of utter boredom and disdain. "...yeah?" he asks after a pause, looking to Nerylish.
[20:12] <Seira> "I can see you're keeping well entertained, so we'll go make the offer of clemency and commuted sentence to Gregort," Seira announces, and knocks on the door twice.
[20:21] <Tiny_Ko_Army> John's head falls back, "Whatever," he says with a note of disdain.
[20:23] <Seira> "Let the guards know when you give up on Irenes and want to do something productive with the rest of your life," Seira tells him, waiting for the door to open.
[20:25] <Tiny_Ko_Army> OOC - Opening John's door or Gregort's now? Wasn't clear.
[20:25] <Seira> OOC: Waiting for John's cell to be opened again, then going into Gregort. I won't forcibly recruit people who like jail~
[20:27] <Tiny_Ko_Army> The door is opened, Nerylish looking to him, but turning away. Once the two are out, "He's been like that the few times I've talked to him. I'm not sure it's..." she curses. "I'm not sure he's right anymore."
[20:28] <Seira> "I'll try again at a later date," Seira tells her. "Like it or not, I can't really help someone who doesn't want to help himself."
[20:29] <Tiny_Ko_Army> As the door to Gregort's cell is opened, you find that it's been reinforced with heavy iron. Inside the large man awaits, head in hands as he looks up to you. "Nerylish?" he asks, "And you. You...you're one of the ones that got us locked up!"
[20:31] <Seira> "Oh, please. I should get more credit than that. After all, I kept you all locked up until now, quite successfully at that," Seira states dryly. "Of course, it was as part of my job to uphold the law. Interested in a deal that would get you out of here?"
[20:33] <Tiny_Ko_Army> Standing up, th eman towers over Seira like a mountain. He flexes his shoulders and cracks his neck, before, "No shit I do."
[20:34] * Seira doesn't look particularly intimidated, perhaps due to her mastery of fiery magics of doom. "Would you like to make the pitch, Nerylish?" Seira offers, curious to see how she would handle that.

[20:36] <Tiny_Ko_Army> "If we serve them regarding magic, they'll let us out on a probation of sorts," Nerylish replies to Gregort. "From what you said, you're right. It's not much of a choice, do that or sit in here forever."
[20:39] <Tiny_Ko_Army> "Then I'm in anyway," Gregort replies, "What do we do now, then?"
[20:40] <Seira> "All that's left is seeing Hamand," Seira responds with a shrug, getting the cell door opened. "And after that, you come with me. Simple as that."
[20:43] <Tiny_Ko_Army> The two follow Seira out, the big man cracking his neck again, "Thank any Gods that listened...out of that damned cell." he sighs in relief.
[20:44] * Seira approaches Hamand's cell, opening the door as apathy settles over her features.
[20:47] <Tiny_Ko_Army> This apathy greets you right back. He standsin his cell, looking straight ahead at Seira, then the other two. "What is it you want?" he asks, voice calm and unmoving. Bland, even.
[20:47] <Seira> "Some people like prison," Seira tells him. "Others prefer to work for their freedom and rehabilitation. To save us both some valuable time, which type fits you best?"
[20:49] <Tiny_Ko_Army> "Get to the point," he says, unmoving. Nerylish shakes her head, "She's not joking around, Hamand. We're walking out this door here and now...look, if you want to come with me..." she gives him a long, hopeful look.
[20:50] <Tiny_Ko_Army> OOC - Strike.
[20:50] <Tiny_Ko_Army> "Get to the-" Hamand begins, before shrugging. "What's the work?"
[20:52] <Seira> "Serving me at a school for mages, with a bit of polishing of your own talents in the meanwhile," Seira informs him. "Any betrayal would be taken personally by the most stubborn person in the Baronies, who would then make it her mission in life to avenge the slight to her person at the exclusion of all else."
[20:53] <Tiny_Ko_Army> "Fine." He answers after a moment, "I'll do what you want. There's little point in sitting in here forever."
[20:54] <Seira> "There's three," Seira says, nodding. "Come with me, then. You'll be staying at my inn until I can arrange for transport towards school ground."
[20:55] <Tiny_Ko_Army> Hamand steps out at last, looking around. "...One question," he stops at the door. "What happened to Master Irenes?"
[20:55] <Seira> "He moved on, I'm sorry to say."
[20:56] <Tiny_Ko_Army> "Hmph." Hamand doesn't answer that, istead following Seira. On that, three of the four walk out with her...
