[20:10] <Kotono> Ah, Balmuria. The weary party returns home to rest, having cleared out a fortress of the living dead. Whimiscal Sweets is busy as they arrive. Downstairs Sylvie and Silver manage a sale, the shop full of people. As Sylvie smiles and hands over some candy, she takes a split second to meet the gaze of Aaeru, Wayland and Andrea, looking upwards and mouthing, "Upstairs."
[20:12] <Aaeru> Giving Sylvie and Silver a wave, Aaeru heads up!
[20:12] * Wayland waves at Sylvie, heading up as well.
[20:14] <Kotono> Upstairs you find three people. Simmer sits at the table, playing with a little, slowly burning branch in her hands. Janson is nearby, whilst Josa is at the supply closet. On your arrival he turns, "Ah, excellent, and not a one of you looks the worse for wear! Not a single sign of rotting flesh or skeletial possession!"
[20:15] <Janson> "Guess that means you all had fun?" Janson grins happily at seeing his friends return hale and healthy.
[20:16] <Aaeru> "Oh yes! There were lots of skeletons! One had three heads and I punched it and it exploded!" Aaeru happily reports.
[20:17] * Janson laughs at such a stirring and heartfelt tale of triumph and joy. "Sorry I missed it. Sounds like you had a blast."
[20:17] <Andria> "Oh it was horrible Janson. Not a single one of the three thinks humor is a good thing under pressure!" Andrea complains, making a fake sniff as she rubs her eye. "I missed you terribly, Janson. At least you appreciate a good joke!"
[20:17] <Andria> She pauses and adds, "And the bad jokes too, actually."
[20:18] <Kotono> "Did you burn them? I mean, you burned the undead? RIGHT?" Simmer asks as she plays with her stick.
[20:18] <Janson> "Yeah - did you see what I did just now? Exploded, blast?" Janson chuckles, going over to stand next to Andrea in solidarity. "You can tell me all the jokes you made later, I bet I'll love them."
[20:18] * Aaeru gives Simmer the thumbs up. "Yep! Undead were burned! Ilmater helped some, too!"
[20:20] <Andria> "Anyhow, the important thing is that place is as clean as a whistle in regards to the undead menace. I don't think any such shady beings would approach it in a thousand years from now after all the work we put in," Andrea notes cheerfully.
[20:20] * Wayland just shakes his head at Andrea.
[20:21] <Janson> "Great," Janson nods happily. "Sylvie and me went on a trip to Pallanth to track down a missing water genasi, and you'll never guess who we ran into - you remember Grithalek? From the lake of gold?"
[20:22] <Kotono> "The frozen?" Simmer pipes up.
[20:22] <Andria> Andrea blinks. "I don't remember a name, but I can guess who you're talking about..." she says, nodding to him to go on.
[20:22] <Aaeru> The firebear never gave them his name, so it must be! "Oh! Yeah! He said he wanted to go there, right?"
[20:23] * Aaeru blinks. "Small world...."
[20:24] <Janson> "That's the guy," Janson nods. "He looks like an elf now, but he remembered us well. He actually gave us a bag of holding and a bundle of gold as presents for helping him out down there. I've left the bag in the supply closet along with the gold split up for each of us who were there, so grab your portions whenever. Either he landed on his feet in Pallanth or he stole a bundle from the dead
[20:24] <Janson> wizard who started the whole ley line mess."
[20:25] <Aaeru> Stealing being wrong, Aaeru nods in tune with the first option.
[20:26] <Wayland> "Hardly stealing if the man was dead." Wayland nods.
[20:26] <Janson> "Maybe he had kids?" Janson shrugs, "Come on, like we're any better. We turned that place over pretty thoroughly."
[20:27] <Wayland> "Very true!"
[20:27] <Andria> "If he had kids, I don't think he cared very much about them given his experiments," Andrea points out.
[20:28] <Kotono> "Do wizards of a brooding, powerful and possibly insane nature tend to have children, let alone ones they care about?" Simmer asks. "We didn't see any sign of children."
[20:29] <Janson> "They're probably grown up by now," Janson points out to Simmer. "He was a wizard who wanted to be more powerful without really thinking things through, doesn't make him a monster," he shrugs. "And speaking of becoming more powerful! We also ran into a huge fairy dragon out near Dewfrost and he said he could help my fey blood magic become stronger if I went to retrieve a diamond egg from a
[20:29] <Janson> mysterious forgotten ruin on the very edge of the world!"
[20:30] <Aaeru> "A huge... fairy... dragon?" Aaeru repeats slowly, eyeing Janson.
[20:30] <Janson> "Yeah, you remember the gold dragon we saw flying over us on the Galkass Mountains?" Janson asks Aaeru. "Like that but white instead of gold, and with butterfly wings instead of... dragon wings."
[20:31] <Aaeru> "Huh."
[20:31] <Andria> "Never heard of such a thing before...how would butterfly wings hold up all that weight anyway?"
[20:31] <Aaeru> "Magic?"
[20:31] <Janson> "Magic," Janson nods with certainty.
[20:31] <Kotono> "Magic," Josa agrees with the utmost solemn-ness.
[20:31] <Andria> "...Oh right," Andrea says as she slaps her forehead. "Ask a stupid question."
[20:31] * Aaeru smiles!
[20:31] <Wayland> "FEY magic." Wayland frowns.
[20:32] * Janson nods brightly. "Anyway! To find these mysterious and no doubt treasure-and-lore-filled-ruins, I need the feather of a roc that's been blessed by a priestess of Auril. So if you guys hear anything about either, let me know. It could be an incredible adventure to go on someday if you're interested!"
[20:33] <Aaeru> "What's a diamond egg?" Aaeru asks Janson. "Oh, and roc, I know there was something about rocs. I'll ask Sylvie later, okay? I'm sure she'll remember!"
[20:33] <Wayland> "Feather of a roc blessed by Auril? That's extremely specific." Wayland goggles.
[20:33] <Kotono> "Nothing's wrong with fey magic," Simmer crosses her arms and gives Wayland a simmering look.
[20:34] <Janson> "I'm guessing it's a big huge egg made out of diamond," Janson replies breezily. "And hey, I don't make the rules. I guess cause it's near a mountain that a roc fits, and it's really cold up there so Auril fits for that?"
[20:34] * Aaeru shrugs at Wayland. "You find a roc. You ask for a feather. Then you ask a priestess to bless it. Simple!"
[20:35] <Janson> "Could maybe just find a feather lying around on the mountains even without asking. Birds moult, no matter how big," Janson points out, "But it's just something to keep an eye out for, no need to go running wild on it. Got other jobs to do, after all."
[20:36] <Aaeru> "We do?" Aaeru perks up. "More skeletons?"
[20:36] * Janson turns the floor over to Josa!
[20:36] * Wayland blinks. "We have another job lined up?"
[20:37] <Kotono> "You do," Josa speaks up. "There are several orders of business, we'll talk about jobs last." he announces. "First of all, if I come to you ranting about needing to be fed, collecting food and the like while holding a shield, I kindly request you incapacitate me."
[20:38] <Andria> "Can do!" Andrea replies, not even asking about the order.
[20:38] <Janson> "Why would you even need a shield? Silver throwing things at you?" Janson asks in a small voice.
[20:38] <Wayland> "Always happy to help." Wayland nods, idly cracking his knuckles.
[20:39] <Aaeru> It would probably hurt her more than him, but Aaeru nods her ascent as well.
[20:43] <Kotono> "Good," Josa says, "Second of all, I have a report from the City Guard. According to them, a werewolf problem was found and rooted out in the central Baronies based on your information. That was about the Gweonryn affair, I believe?"
[20:43] <Wayland> "Most likely."
[20:44] <Janson> "Yeah, he said he got attacked over that ways to be infected originally," Janson nods. "Glad to hear they got it covered."
[20:44] * Aaeru claps in approval!
[20:56] <Kotono> After a moment's nod, "Third of all," He continues, "Your job. All of you are familiar with Lady Elestra Moongal?"
[20:56] <Janson> "She got us the Gweonryn job," Janson nods, it suddenly being fresh in mind!
[20:58] <Kotono> "Well, good work brings more work," Josa says, "She's asked for and paid for the full services of Whimisical Sweets. She needs help with a magical item and insists all of you are the perfect fit to figure it out. I want all five of you go visit Silver Star Books and make her happy." Steepling his hands together, "Lady Moongal recommending us around could bring in several lucrative jobs."
[20:59] <Janson> "Well, I'm pretty good with that kind of thing. Head over now?" Janson asks.
[21:00] <Aaeru> "I can go now," Aaeru affirms.
[21:00] <Andria> "I don't have anything pending, so now is fine for me too," Andrea adds.
[21:02] <Kotono> "Sure," Simmer says, "Moongal. Pretty, almost."
[21:04] <Kotono> "Then the five of you get going," Josa says, "Remember: The happier she is with your work, the happier I am."
[21:04] <Aaeru> "But you're always happy!"
[21:05] <Janson> "Charging the usual rate?" Janson asks as he starts for the stairs.
[21:08] <Kotono> "Yes," Josa says.
[21:16] <Kotono> roll 1d100
[21:16] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d100 and gets 40." [1d100=40]
[21:17] <Kotono> The trip to Silver Star Books is without incident. This time you find the same young man sitting inside, reading another book. He glances up and yells, "HEY DACOTE, WHIMISICAL SWEETS IS HERE FOR YOUR MOM!"
[21:18] * Janson idly pokes his ear with a finger.
[21:24] <Kotono> It is not Dacote that emerges, but Lady Moongal. She is a regal woman with flesh like warm porcelin, white and yet vital. She wears a scarlet dress that could perhaps buy an entire village down the last barrel, yet wears no jewelry. "Ah, Whimiscal Sweets?"
[21:24] <Wayland> "Hello again, Lady Moongal." Wayland grins.
[21:25] <Aaeru> "Nice to see you again!" Aaeru greets her earnestly.
[21:25] <Janson> "Heard you needed help with a magical item of some sort?" Janson asks with a respectful nod in deference to both her matriarchal presence and her ability to pay his bills.
[21:28] <Kotono> "Dacote will be along with it momentarily." She turns to the young man, "You have the rest of the day off as paid leave. Depart."
[21:28] <Kotono> The young man blinks, shrugs and gets up. "Okay, see you tomorrow," he says, toddling on off.
[21:29] * Wayland waves as the man leaves.
[21:31] <Kotono> As he leaves, Dacote comes out. He's an older man with a cane, salt and pepper hair. He carries a small box under his free arm, "Whimisi-oh yes, Wayland."
[21:32] <Wayland> "Hello, Dacote.
[21:32] <Wayland> "
[21:34] * Janson blinks and looks between Dacote and his 'mom' before his eyes widen in realisation. She's like the elders from his village! With that he resolves to be even more respectful, since she must be greatly in tune with nature.
[21:36] <Kotono> AS Dacote puts the box down on the nearest table, Lady Moongal goes to sit, "This magical item is not a sword or blade, nor is it armor or a ring. It is a most curious thing, said to have been made by a long forgotten, eccentric wizard from a land far away. Be it a land in our reality or the Realms Beyond I am not certain."
[21:37] <Aaeru> "Why is it curious?" Aaeru inquires.
[21:38] * Janson goes to stand over the table and looks down at the box, already scanning for magic.
[21:39] <Kotono> There's faint magic from the box. "Within it is an elaborate child's game. That is the magical item." Dacote says, going to sit down. "The vast majority of magical items are of a martial or a practical bend. This one is not."
[21:39] <Janson> roll 1d20+11 spellcraft
[21:39] * Hatbot --> "Janson rolls 1d20+11 spellcraft and gets 16." [1d20=5]
[21:40] * Aaeru edges closer to where Janson is peering into the box while trying to be inconspicious about it.
[21:41] <Janson> "And you think it's hiding something more?" Janson concludes from that implication.
[21:42] <Kotono> "I do," Lady Moongal says. "Open the box."
[21:42] * Janson is quick to comply with her instructions, flipping the lid open!
[21:43] * Aaeru is filled with expectation, looking on!
[21:46] <Kotono> Within the box lies a colorful board. It looks to be a pretty rainbow path, as well as with little iron figurines and a pair of dice. Emblazoned on the board is 'FARAWAY ADVENTURES', surrounded by painted images of children, smiling and laughing and playing.
[21:46] <Aaeru> "Is this... a game?" Aaeru asks in hushed awe.
[21:46] <Wayland> "This is magical?"
[21:47] <Janson> "It looks innocent, but who knows?" Janson muses, looking down. "Have you tried playing it?"
[21:47] <Janson> "Also, is there some sort of damping magic on the box?" Janson taps the box on the side. "The aura from the game just got stronger when it opened."
[21:48] <Kotono> "It is," Lady Moongal confirms, taking one of five figurines in her hand. Each is of a child, smiling and ready to play. She puts it back down, "Yes, I believe there is, I noted the same phenominom."
[21:48] * Aaeru can hardly believe she is being asked to play a game for the sake of securing more donations to Ilmater's orphans fund! At least, it seems like it is!
[21:51] <Janson> "Does the game explain the rules or anything?" Janson then asks.
[21:51] * Aaeru starts listening intently!
[21:58] <Kotono> "Pick up a  figure, put it at the start," She points at a starburst pattern, with START written on it, "And you'll understand how to play."
[21:59] * Janson picks whichever figurine looks best to him and places it where indicated!
[21:59] <Andria> Andrea looks at the other figurines, looking to see what to pick.
[21:59] * Aaeru picks the figuring of a laughing twintailed girl and places it on the starburst pattern!
[22:00] <Andria> Andrea decides on a figurine of a chubby boy eating some cake and wearing a nice hat.
[22:03] * Wayland grabs a random figurine.
[22:04] <Kotono> Simmer takes the last, and as each of you does so you understand. Each of you takes turns rolling the two dice and moving, and then the game's magic happens.  All you have to decide is who rolls first!
[22:04] * Aaeru looks at the dice with a strange mix of piteousness and excitement.
[22:04] <Kotono> "After this point I haven't progressed," Lady Moongal says, "I'm not terribly interested in testing such magic myself."
[22:04] <Janson> "Well, settle in for a show, then?" Janson grins at her, grabbing the dice and tossing them over the board.
[22:05] <Kotono> OOC: Roll 2d6, Janson.
[22:05] <Janson> roll 2d6
[22:05] * Hatbot --> "Janson rolls 2d6 and gets 8." [2d6=2, 6]
[22:06] <Kotono> Janson rolls an eight! His figurine stretches as if it's always been alive, then skips forward eight spaces!
[22:07] <Janson> "That's magic, but pretty straightforward," Janson comments, looking to see if there are any spaces with markers on them as he waits on the others to roll. There's surely more to it than just animated pieces.
[22:08] <Kotono> The squares all look normal enough - no marks or anything like that.
[22:09] <Aaeru> With the dice rolling over to her after Janson's tossed them, Aaeru picks them up and gives the game a try!
[22:09] <Aaeru> roll 2d6
[22:09] * Hatbot --> "Aaeru rolls 2d6 and gets 5." [2d6=4, 1]
[22:10] <Kotono> Aaeru's figurine moves five spaces ahead! When it stops a faint light glows from that square! Above it reads 'DANGER SQUARE!' as Aaeru vanishes! OOC: #evildunes, Aaeru.
<Steph> I might have made a terrible mistake

[22:11] <Kotono> -----
[22:12] <Kotono> Aaeru stands in heat. It's hot here, so hot. So roastingly hot...a forge. Great forges are before her in all directions. She is buffeted by heat in all directions, even as a booming voice calls, "Oh, is that a visitor?"
[22:13] <Aaeru> For the heat to affect her this much, it must be outside her range of experience with extreme conditions outside! "Hello!" Aaeru greets the voice, mindful to be polite. "My name is Aaeru."
[22:15] <Kotono> What approaches you is a gruff, dwarf like creature. It wears a metal kilt and nothing else, it's head wreathed in flames. "A little child as an intruder? Are you getting in trouble, little girl?"
[22:16] <Aaeru> "I was playing a game!" Aaeru exclaims happily, before she looks guilty. "Not that I wanted to or anything. I just had to play it."
[22:19] <Kotono> "Oh, a game, is it," The creature cracks it's knuckles, drawing a greathammer from nowhere! "Naughty children that get in trouble for playing games need to be punished!"
[22:19] <Aaeru> "We shouldn't fight!" Aaeru protests, waving her hands before her. "I don't want to hurt you!"
[22:21] <Kotono> "Will you take a penalty then, for your trouble?" It asks, rumbling.
[22:21] <Aaeru> "What's that?"
[22:22] <Kotono> "You give up something to say you're sorry." It retorts, "Something to make up for things, little girl."
[22:23] * Aaeru frowns. "I don't have anything...." She bows deeply. "I'm very sorry, Mister Fire Dwarf. I might have to hurt you after all if you try to hit me with your hammer."
[22:24] <Kotono> "You won't give anything up," The dwarf shakes it's head, before lunging at Aaeru! OOC: Init.
[22:24] <Kotono> roll 1d20+1
[22:24] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20+1 and gets 9." [1d20=8]
[22:24] <Aaeru> roll 1d20+2
[22:24] * Hatbot --> "Aaeru rolls 1d20+2 and gets 14." [1d20=12]
[22:24] * Kotono changes topic to 'Aaeru(14)>Dwarf(9)'
[22:24] <Kotono> OOC: Open.
[22:25] * Wayland2 (~Dis@c-71-194-208-215.hsd1.il.comcast.net) has joined #evildunes
[22:25] <Aaeru> "I said I didn't have anything!" Aaeru protests, growing in size and taking a step back as the dwarf lunges at her. This way, she might stop him from ever attacking her!
[22:26] <Kotono> The dwarf isn't deterred, lunging in at Aaeru! OOC: You get an AoO since you have reach on him now.
[22:26] <Aaeru> roll 1d20+8 touch for grapple
[22:26] * Hatbot --> "Aaeru rolls 1d20+8 touch for grapple and gets 16." [1d20=8]
[22:28] <Kotono> OOC: Hit.
[22:28] <Aaeru> roll 1d20+15 grapple
[22:28] * Hatbot --> "Aaeru rolls 1d20+15 grapple and gets 23." [1d20=8]
[22:28] <Kotono> roll 1d20+3
[22:28] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20+3 and gets 11." [1d20=8]
[22:29] <Kotono> OOC: Success.
[22:29] <Aaeru> roll 1d8+4 subdual
[22:29] * Hatbot --> "Aaeru rolls 1d8+4 subdual and gets 12." [1d8=8]
[22:30] * Aaeru brings her enlargened hand down on the dwarf's forehead and prevents him from reaching her!
[22:30] <Kotono> With one mighty slam the dwarf goes limp and...(More)
<Steph> I might have made a terrible mistake

[22:11] <Janson> "Oh!" Janson starts as Aaeru vanishes. "You'd think it could have warned us!" Unthinkingly he sweeps a hand through where Aaeru just stood. "But it's a children's game, so... she'll be safe, right?"
[22:12] <Andria> "What the hell? Danger Square? Aaeru?" Andrea starts to exclaim, though Janson's comment calms her down for the moment. "I...I guess I should roll next?"
[22:13] <Kotono> In the middle of the board, between the road, an image appears. A great, endless series of forges. Within you can see a tiny image of Aaeru standing there.
[22:13] <Janson> "Hey, look!" Janson points to the image, leaning closer to observe!
[22:13] <Andria> "Hey, it's Aaeru!" the young paladin exclaims the obvious.
[22:15] <Kotono> "That looks warm," Simmer leans over to peer at the tiny images.
[22:16] <Kotono> A second image appears besides Aaeru - that of a dwarf-like creature, head wreathed in flames and wearing only a metal kilt.
[22:16] <Janson> "Do you think they'll become friends?" Janson asks as he watches the action unfold.
[22:17] <Kotono> Dacote leans in and peers at it, "Teleportation and illusiory magic. As suspected, there's potent magic involved. Mother?"
[22:18] <Kotono> Lady Moongal shakes her head, "It's still shielded; the creator of this likely intended for analysis to be impeded. It'll take more time."
[22:18] <Andria> "Well, I'm going to roll now. Maybe I can land in the same square and help her out, or just advance and we can see where the game's going," Andrea says as she picks up the dice and rolls at this time.
[22:18] <Andria> roll 2d6
[22:18] * Hatbot --> "Andria rolls 2d6 and gets 8." [2d6=5, 3]
[22:19] <Andria> "...Or I guess I can join Janson!"
[22:19] * Janson cheerfully pats Andrea on the back!
[22:19] <Kotono> Andrea rolls...but nothing happens, her figure not moving. In the meanwhile a nasty looking battle hammer appears in the hands of the fire-dwarf!
[22:20] <Janson> "Oh... maybe you can't roll until Aaeru's... hey! That doesn't look friendly!"
[22:22] <Kotono> The two seem to be talking back and forth now, though no sounds are heard. "Is she in anyd anger, or is it just an illusion? If it teleported her, where is she now?"
[22:24] <Wayland2> "This doesn't look much like a children's game..."
[22:25] <Kotono> "It doesn't," Dacote agrees, "To answer your question, it's anyone's guess right now." As they talk, the dwarf abruptly charges at Aaeru!
[22:25] <Janson> "Well, I guess we'll see if Aaeru really gets hurt now..." Janson frets nervously. "It might just be pretend."
[22:31] <Kotono> Aaeru grows larger and catches the charge, hand slamming down! It knocks the dwarf cold, immediately causing the images to vanish and Aaeru to reappear safely!
[22:31] <Aaeru> "I'm sorry!" Aaeru calls out again. "I didn't mean to hit you that hard!"
[22:32] * Janson shuffles back a few steps to provide room for the bigger Aaeru. "It never even touched you, so we can't even tell if it's really dangerous or not..."
[22:32] <Aaeru> "It was supposed to?" Aaeru asks, blinking. "No one told me...."
[22:33] <Janson> "That's why we're testing it, remember!" Janson laughs. "We'll have to wait and see if anyone else gets hurt before we know if this needs hazard pay."
[22:34] <Aaeru> "I'll... try to get hurt..." Aaeru says slowly. "But he called me naughty and wanted to punish me!"
[22:35] <Janson> "You sure punished him instead," Janson nods sollemnly.
[22:35] <Aaeru> "He didn't take no for an answer."
[22:35] * Aaeru sighs. "Or sorry. I tried that too."
[22:36] <Kotono> "Oh well," Simmer says, "Andrea, it's your roll...that wasn't particularly dangerous. I mean, it was just fiery and didn't last long."
[22:39] <Andria> "Oh, I guess I can roll again, sure," Andrea says before tossing the dice.
[22:39] <Andria> roll 2d6
[22:39] * Hatbot --> "Andria rolls 2d6 and gets 8." [2d6=4, 4]
[22:39] <Andria> "Looks like I'm still joining you in your square then after all!"
[22:39] <Kotono> Eight! Andrea joins Janson's square...but as her figurine does, a voice intones, "DOUBLES. ROLL AGAIN." A faint red light gathers around Andrea's figurine!
[22:39] <Janson> "It's the best square," Janson nods sincerely.
[22:39] <Janson> "Aww, leaving so soon?" he pouts.
[22:40] <Andria> "We'll meet again, my friend!" she says, clapping his shoulder with a grin, before rolling again.
[22:40] <Andria> roll 2d6
[22:40] * Hatbot --> "Andria rolls 2d6 and gets 8." [2d6=6, 2]
[22:40] <Andria> "...That's a lot of eights," Andrea notes.
[22:42] <Kotono> Andrea's figurine goes skipping over the board, ending up on a simple square! The square turns an ugly read, reading 'PENALTY SQUARE' over it. Andrea feels momentarily ill! OOC: Fort, Andrea.
[22:42] <Andria> roll d20+12 (immune to diseases)
[22:42] * Hatbot --> "Andria rolls d20+12 (immune to diseases) and gets 16." [d20=4]
[22:45] <Kotono> Andrea feels momentarily lethargic, as motes of light come out of her body! From her head, chest and arms they flow, pooling into the board! The red square quiets, the words of PENALTY SQUARE fading away. OOC: 2 con damage, Andrea.
[22:45] <Janson> "You okay, Andrea?" Janson gives her a worried look as she pales.
[22:46] <Glenn> "I don't feel so good..." Andrea mumbles as she stumbles a bit, though she remains standing. "Damn...children's...game."
[22:47] <Kotono> "You look weak," Simmer says, "What was that light?" She paws at where it was, her hand going through the empty air.
[22:47] * Aaeru helps steady Andrea, just in case.
[22:48] <Andria> "I think it robbed me of some of my strength or something, like those shadows did for Balyss?" Andrea tries to explain, not really sure how else to put it, even if only Aaeru and Wayland are likely to really get it.
[22:49] * Aaeru checks the game with a frown, in case it is an evil undead in disguise!
<Steph> I might have made a terrible mistake

Corwin

[20:26] Wayland looks at the board distrustfully.
[20:26] <Kotono> The board game is not evil. As Aaeru tests this, "I wonder if it's all negative effects, or if there's possibel benefits?" Simmer asks.
[20:27] <Aaeru> "It's not like the shadows," Aaeru delivers her expert opinion.
[20:28] <Janson> "You've got to play to win!" Janson grins at Simmer. "Be positive and Tymora will approve!"
[20:28] <Kotono> "Mmm-hmm," Dacote peers down at the figurines all the while, "Wayland, try rolling now."
[20:30] <Wayland> "Okay." Wayland grabs the dice and rolls them.
[20:30] <Wayland> roll 2d6
[20:30] * Hatbot --> "Wayland rolls 2d6 and gets 3." [2d6=1, 2]
[20:32] <Kotono> Wayland moves three! His square glows slightly, the words GROUP CHALLENGE appearing! A split second later, reality shatters for all! The five stand in the e ndless open sky. It's blue and clear as far as you can see. Below a thick bank of clouds can be seen. You stand on a transparent crystal platform, big enough for all five of you and with some manuvering room to spare. The platform is ascending
[20:32] <Kotono> forward.
[20:33] <Wayland> "Err." Wayland looks around.
[20:33] * Aaeru eyes Wayland.
[20:33] <Wayland> "What?" I didn't mean to do that!"
[20:34] <Janson> "You should have rolled with more enthusiasm!" Janson asserts, peering down through the platform.
[20:34] <Kotono> As wind blows her hair out, Simmer gapes, "We're in the sky!"
[20:35] <Wayland> "This is why I don't like games of chance." Wayland grumps. "Now what?"
[20:35] <Aaeru> "If we don't have to fight each other, it's fine!" Aaeru asserts. "We don't, do we?"
[20:36] <Janson> "It would be fine if we just had to take our own chances instead of getting lumped together. How can we have a winner if everyone gets challenged at once?" Janson asks before nodding in realisation, "That might actually be it, Aaeru."
[20:37] * Aaeru looks briefly unnerved, but decides to trust in the goodness of the anonymous wizard's heart and just enjoy the feeling of flying through the air!
[20:39] <Kotono> The platform advances further before coming to a stop. At that moment light from above shines! It illuminates the way ahead. There is a ten foot gap before a slender walkway of transparent crystal can be seen, glittering in the light.
[20:40] <Janson> "Maybe it's a race or obstacle course and whoever gets the farthest wins?" Janson wonders, going to the far end of the platform opposite the path and then taking a running jump at it!
[20:40] <Janson> roll 1d20+2 lets not die?
[20:40] * Hatbot --> "Janson rolls 1d20+2 lets not die? and gets 12." [1d20=10]
[20:41] <Kotono> Janson gets a good running jump, just making it and landing on the other side safely!
[20:42] <Aaeru> "Maybe!" Aaeru agrees, following suit!
[20:42] <Aaeru> roll 1d20+5
[20:42] * Hatbot --> "Aaeru rolls 1d20+5 and gets 25." [1d20=20]
[20:42] * Janson bounces on his heels and turns to give the others a wave. "Hurry up or I'll win!" he calls, taking off at a jog down the path.
[20:43] <Kotono> Aaeru leaps like a goddess, over Janson's head and landing safely as he jogs past! Simmer looks and then looks down, "Need to learn how to make fire-stairsor something," she mutters, before trying the jump as well!
[20:43] <Kotono> roll 1d20
[20:43] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20 and gets 16." [1d20=16]
[20:43] <Kotono> Simmer hops over as well, landing and taking a long breath before following.
[20:43] * Aaeru hangs back, ready to catch anyone who doesn't make it all the way across.
[20:44] <Wayland> "This is so strange." Wayland shakes his head, before taking a running leap.
[20:44] <Wayland> roll 1d20+3
[20:44] * Hatbot --> "Wayland rolls 1d20+3 and gets 4." [1d20=1]
[20:44] <Wayland> roll 1d20+6 tumble not to die?
[20:44] * Hatbot --> "Wayland rolls 1d20+6 tumble not to die? and gets 19." [1d20=13]
[20:47] <Kotono> Wayland takes a jump, but he starts to trip as he does! It results in a half aborted jump, turned into a header straight down! He begins to plummet out of sight, until he winkles! A few seconds later he appears past Aaeru, doing a partial roll to muffle the pain as he hits down hard!
[20:47] <Kotono> roll 2d6 (Already subtracted 1d6 for tumble)
[20:47] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 2d6 (Already subtracted 1d6 for tumble) and gets 10." [2d6=4, 6]
[20:47] * Aaeru blinks.
[20:48] <Wayland> "...ow."
[20:49] * Janson stops at the sound of a painful impact and turns back, unsure what to make of this. Did Wayland jump super high and fail to land properly or something?
[20:49] <Andria> Andrea winces as she tries to make her own jump as well.
[20:49] <Andria> roll d20+4
[20:49] * Hatbot --> "Andria rolls d20+4 and gets 5." [d20=1]
[20:50] <Wayland> "The good news is that falling is not immediately fatal."
[20:50] <Kotono> Simmer comes over to Wayland, offering him a hand up, "The bad news is that it looked like that hurt."
[20:50] <Wayland> "Yeah, I wouldn't advise doing that." Wayland says, taking the offered hand up.
[20:51] <Janson> "Maybe we should stick together after all," Janson loses some of his exuberance, falling back to join everyone else.
[20:52] <Kotono> How it happens will remain a mystery to all but the Gods, but somehow Andrea's jump goes to the side and back! She promptly plummets, seconds later landing besides WAyland with a boneshaking thud!
[20:52] <Kotono> roll 3d6
[20:52] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 3d6 and gets 10." [3d6=4, 1, 5]
[20:53] * Aaeru winces, and withdraws her proffered hand. People seemed to be jumping better before she was trying to help. Is it her fault?
[20:53] <Andria> "This is definitely not a children's game..." she mutters quietly through the pain.
[20:53] <Wayland> "Wow, that DOES look painful!" Wayland says, helping Andrea up.
[20:53] <Kotono> "Doesn't it," Simemr says with open compassion, "Like falling out of the treetops and to the forest ground painful."
[20:54] * Wayland nods.
[20:54] <Janson> "Wearing all that armour probably doesn't lessen that sort of pain," Janson winces sympathetically, waiting on everyone recovering before advancing once more.
[20:55] <Andria> "I blame that penalty square from before, actually," Andrea mutters.
[20:56] <Kotono> Simmer starts to advance, "At least you appeared back up. I don't want to think of how high up we are."
[20:57] <Janson> "Where are we, anyway? In the sky above Balmuria?" Janson wonders as he trots along the crystalline pathway.
[20:59] <Kotono> As the party advances, they see it coming from ahead, twinking into being 40 feet away. A dirty goblin in tattered leather armor. It marches towards the party on a straight ahead line, saying not a word. It has a shortsword drawn, going up and down as it walks.
[20:59] <Aaeru> "Hi!" Aaeru calls out to it, throwing in a friendly wave as well.
[21:00] * Janson tosses an eldritch blast at the goblin out of hand.
[21:01] <Janson> Once he's within 30 feet anyway!
[21:01] <Janson> roll 1d20+6 attack
[21:01] * Hatbot --> "Janson rolls 1d20+6 attack and gets 20." [1d20=14]
[21:01] <Janson> roll 2d6+2d6+2d6
[21:01] * Hatbot --> "Janson rolls 2d6+2d6+2d6 and gets 27." [2d6=4, 5][2d6=5, 4][2d6=4, 5]
[21:02] <Kotono> The goblin makes no effort to evade or to engage in combat. The beam slams into it, causing it to fall back! It passes right through the transparent walkway, plummeting out of sight.
[21:03] * Janson doesn't break his stride!
[21:03] <Wayland> "Nice shot, Janson!"
[21:03] <Aaeru> "Why did you shoot him?!" Aaeru exclaims.
[21:04] <Janson> "He was going to try and kill us, I could see it in his eyes," Janson replies sincerely without actually looking at Aaeru. "I think it's his job since this is a game that's trying to hurt us."
[21:04] <Aaeru> "I didn't see it," Aaeru says, frowning. "It didn't even try to attack!"
[21:05] <Janson> "He was trying to trick you..." Janson begins, startin to feel awful in the face of Aaeru's disapproval, "He thought you were an easy mark," he adds hoping to convince her.
[21:06] <Kotono> Advancing ahead you see another ten foot gap, with the walkway resuming after that. As she sees that Simmer glances back, "Really? It didn't really seem to be doing anything but walking ahead. I mean, when a goblin wants to fight it's pretty obvious."
[21:06] <Aaeru> "Many people think that, Sinnah told me," Aaeru admits, mulling this over.
[21:07] <Janson> "They can be tricky," Janson retorts, starting to run to take his jump across to escape such probing arguments!
[21:08] <Kotono> OOC: Jump check.
[21:08] <Janson> roll 1d20+7 i get a bonus for speed 40 actually
[21:08] * Hatbot --> "Janson rolls 1d20+7 i get a bonus for speed 40 actually and gets 15." [1d20=8]
[21:09] <Kotono> Janson starts to leap across! It looks like he's going to make it, but as he does? A great eagle swoops down from above, plummeting at Janson in midair!
[21:09] <Kotono> roll 1d20+1 touch AC?
[21:09] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20+1 touch AC? and gets 21." [1d20=20]
[21:09] <Kotono> roll 1d20+1 touch AC ow
[21:09] <Janson> OOC: not that!
[21:09] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20+1 touch AC ow and gets 11." [1d20=10]
[21:09] <Janson> OOC: 16
[21:09] <Kotono> roll 1d3
[21:09] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d3 and gets 1." [1d3=1]
[21:10] <Kotono> The eagle hitting him is only a mild pain at best, but what's worse? The fact that impacting something mid-jump tends to send one's trajectory in new directions! Such a direction is right to the side and plummeting into the ether, appearing moments later on the other side with a bonecracking THUMP! OOC: Do you have tumble or anything to apply?
[21:10] <Janson> OOC: that is so lame, it didn't even bull rush me or anything! I have tumble
[21:10] <Janson> roll 1d20+10
[21:10] * Hatbot --> "Janson rolls 1d20+10 and gets 16." [1d20=6]
[21:15] <Kotono> Between twisting in the air and recorrecting, Janson is able to make it to the far side. It's a bad landing, but it avoids the worst of it on the impact! Meanwhile, the eagle soars down and away!
[21:15] <Kotono> roll 1d6
[21:15] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d6  and gets 2." [1d6=2]
[21:15] * Aaeru follows right after!
[21:15] <Aaeru> roll 1d20+5
[21:15] * Hatbot --> "Aaeru rolls 1d20+5 and gets 19." [1d20=14]
[21:15] <Wayland> "So...that just happened." Wayland says, his face blank.
[21:16] * Janson picks himself up slighty scuffed and bruised and glares after the eagle. "I'll shoot any more that come after you guys," he promises, poised to do just that while the others make their jumps.
[21:17] <Kotono> Aaeru is able to make it safely across, leaping over as the eagle is on the downswing. Simmer looks at it as it does, "Can I stay here and burn it when it appears again?"
[21:18] <Aaeru> "Maybe it only attacked you because you shot the goblin?" Aaeru suggests, as nothing seems to bother her.
[21:18] * Janson frowns. "Fine, I'll let the next one stab someone first," he mutters.
[21:21] <Kotono> "Why don't you go next, one of you?" Simmer says, "If that bird shows back up, we'll fry it before it gets to you."
[21:21] * Wayland eyes the jump warily.
[21:23] <Wayland> "Very well, I will go." Wayland says finally.
[21:23] <Kotono> "Go for it," Simmer says, "And after that, we can find some way to make it easier for Andrea."
[21:24] <Andria> "I'd take my armor off, but I don't want to leave it behind either..." Andrea mutters.
[21:25] <Wayland> Setting himself, Wayland braces himself, prepared to levitate himself if necessary. He runs and takes a flying leap!
[21:25] <Wayland> roll 1d20+3 jumppp
[21:25] * Hatbot --> "Wayland rolls 1d20+3 jumppp and gets 5." [1d20=2]
[21:25] <Kotono> OOC: You managed to spectacularly botch that. Gonna use your levitate SLA?
[21:26] <Wayland> OOC: Absolutely.
[21:26] <Kotono> Wayland's jump is the thing of legends...if legends are jumping barely five feet. As he suspends himself in midair with levitate, the eagle comes back from above, diving at him! OOC: Janson and Simmer were holding to zap it, so go.
[21:27] * Aaeru tries to pull Wayland across!
[21:27] <Janson> roll 1d20+6 love for animals is suspended for the duration of the game~
[21:27] * Hatbot --> "Janson rolls 1d20+6 love for animals is suspended for the duration of the game~ and gets 18." [1d20=12]
[21:27] <Janson> roll 2d6
[21:28] * Hatbot --> "Janson rolls 2d6 and gets 7." [2d6=5, 2]
[21:29] <Kotono> At the same time a jet of fire engulfs the bird!
[21:29] <Kotono> roll 1d4 and ref for half, but essentially irrelevant
[21:29] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d4 and ref for half, but essentially irrelevant and gets 2." [1d4=2]
[21:29] <Kotono> Between flame and shot, the bird is caught! It plummets straight down and out of sight as Wayland makes it ot the other side!
[21:30] <Wayland> "Thanks guys." Wayland says. "Something about this place is really messing with my head, I think."
[21:30] <Aaeru> "It's not just you," Aaeru tells Janson in surprise. "But still don't shoot the goblin if he returns!"
[21:31] <Janson> "Okay, but you get to crush his head in your giant fists if he tries to stab anyone," Janson agrees a compromise with Aaeru.
[21:31] <Aaeru> "I'll pick him up and let him go after everyone passed!"
[21:31] <Janson> "Drop him over the side?" Janson suggests, starting to grin. "If he comes back it means he can take it, after all."
[21:32] <Kotono> "I'll try next," Simmer says, getting a running start and jumping!
[21:32] <Kotono> roll 1d20
[21:32] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20 and gets 7." [1d20=7]
[21:32] * Aaeru is, as always, ready to assist everyone across!
[21:32] <Kotono> Simmer's jump isn't quite up to par, but with an enlarged girl nearby she can be grabbed out of the air and helped across. She exhales, "Thanks."
[21:33] <Andria> Andrea waits for Aaeru to be free to catch her if she screws up again, also trying for a running start, hopefully it works out better for her this time.
[21:33] <Aaeru> "No problem!" Aaeru cheerfully responds, looking over at Andrea. Who is actually a problem, dressed in a tin can.
[21:33] <Andria> roll d20-2
[21:33] * Hatbot --> "Andria rolls d20-2 and gets 10." [d20=12]
[21:34] <Kotono> This time Andrea doesn't need help, able to bunny hop over and land safely!
[21:34] * Aaeru claps as Andrea makes it across against all odds!
[21:35] <Janson> "Alright, lets go," Janson turns to set off. "This one's taking a lot longer than Aaeru's one, isn't it?"
[21:37] <Wayland> "Certainly seems more painful..."
[21:38] <Janson> "That must make the reward all the sweeter!" Janson asserts enthusiastically, striding on towards adventure and lucrative rewards!
[21:39] <Kotono> Advancing ahead the sparkling platform expands. Ahead of you see a small heap of gold, jewels and treasure! Sitting before it is a red thing - a red dragon! It's the size of a big human, tail twitching. Flames hiss out of it's mouth, as if thrusting out from it's throat. As the party approaches, it leans back and roars!
[21:39] <Wayland> "You wanna go talk to this one too?" Wayland looks at Aaeru.
[21:40] <Aaeru> "H-Hi!" Aaeru forces herself to greet the dragon, even if she can't maintain her cheerful demeanor in its presence.
[21:40] <Janson> "So, wait for it to eat someone first?" Janson asks, letting Aaeru take the lead here.
[21:42] <Kotono> The dragon's reply is to roar, "No one gets my treasure, especially not thieves who have come this far!" it demands, drawing it's head back to let loose a great searing jet of face melting flame! OOC: Roll init.
[21:43] <Janson> roll 1d20+4
[21:43] * Hatbot --> "Janson rolls 1d20+4 and gets 23." [1d20=19]
[21:43] <Kotono> roll 1d20+6 Simmer
[21:43] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20+6 Simmer and gets 22." [1d20=16]
[21:43] <Andria> roll d20+4
[21:43] * Hatbot --> "Andria rolls d20+4 and gets 11." [d20=7]
[21:43] <Kotono> roll 1d20+4 DRAGON OH FUCK
[21:43] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20+4 DRAGON OH FUCK and gets 11." [1d20=7]
[21:43] <Wayland> roll 1d20+3
[21:43] * Hatbot --> "Wayland rolls 1d20+3 and gets 17." [1d20=14]
[21:43] <Aaeru> "I'm good!" Aaeru cries out, scrambling out of the way!
[21:43] <Aaeru> roll 1d20+1
[21:43] * Hatbot --> "Aaeru rolls 1d20+1 and gets 5." [1d20=4]
[21:43] * Kotono changes topic to 'Janson(23)>Simmer(22)>Wayland(17)>Andrea=Dragon(11)>Aaeru(5)'
[21:43] <Kotono> OOC: Open Janson.
[21:44] <Janson> "Then if we beat you the treasure belongs to us!" Janson calls, flinging a blast of eldritch energies at the dragon's muzzle before retreating back forty feet, hopefully putting him well out of burning range!
[21:44] <Janson> roll 1d20+6
[21:44] * Hatbot --> "Janson rolls 1d20+6 and gets 15." [1d20=9]
[21:44] <Janson> roll 2d6+2d6+2d6
[21:44] * Hatbot --> "Janson rolls 2d6+2d6+2d6 and gets 24." [2d6=2, 1][2d6=4, 6][2d6=6, 5]
[21:45] <Andria> "We're not thieves!" Andrea exclaims at the accusation. "You can't just attack us for no reason and assume we're thieves because we show up in front of you!"
[21:45] * Janson blushes. "It's not thieving, it's a bet!" he insists.
[21:46] <Wayland> "Your treasure is as good as ours, dragon!"
[21:47] <Aaeru> "I'm with Andrea," Aaeru says in a tiny voice, pointing at the armor-clad girl.
[21:50] <Kotono> "Too late," Simmer observes, as Janson's blast hits the dragon's wing hard! It goes right through, a painful strike! At the same time Simmer holds back, firing off a blast of flame...that does little to nothing to the dragon! OOC: Wayland.
[21:54] <Wayland> Wayland charges the dragon, his fist pulled back and ready to strike!
[21:54] <Wayland> OOC: Charging
[21:55] <Kotono> OOC: Go for it, good luck! May Hatbot smile on you for once this session.
[21:55] <Wayland> roll 1d20+8+2 to hit
[21:55] * Hatbot --> "Wayland rolls 1d20+8+2 to hit and gets 18." [1d20=8]
[21:55] <Kotono> OOC: Hit.
[21:56] <Wayland> roll 1d8+3+1d6
[21:56] * Hatbot --> "Wayland rolls 1d8+3+1d6 and gets 15." [1d8=8][1d6=4]
[21:56] <Kotono> Wayland charges right in with a full fury, right int he dragon's face! It takes a step back under that clubbing, shocking assault, struggling to hold it's ground! OOC: Andrea and Dragon. Go Andrea.
[21:59] <Andria> "Show that dragon we're not afraid of it and hit it until it starts behaving!" Andrea calls out, her voice resonating with something special, boosting the spirits of the others, even if it's likely unneeded. (ooc: inspire courage)
[21:59] <Kotono> OOC: Okay. Dragon's up.
[22:00] <Kotono> The dragon rears it's head back, a great cone of fier erupting out! It gets Wayland first, spreading to Andrea and Aaeru! OOC: Reflex saves you three. It also gets Simmer but she nulls fire so this is oh so irrelevant.
[22:00] <Andria> roll d20+8
[22:00] * Hatbot --> "Andria rolls d20+8 and gets 18." [d20=10]
[22:01] <Wayland> roll 1d20+8 evasion
[22:01] * Hatbot --> "Wayland rolls 1d20+8 evasion and gets 14." [1d20=6]
[22:01] <Aaeru> roll 1d20+9
[22:01] * Hatbot --> "Aaeru rolls 1d20+9 and gets 10." [1d20=1]
[22:01] <Kotono> roll 2d10, Andrea made the save and the two evasioners didn't. Irony.
[22:01] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 2d10, Andrea made the save and the two evasioners didn't. Irony. and gets Error: Numeric values only." [2d10=8, 5]
[22:01] <Kotono> OOC: 13.
[22:03] <Kotono> Andrea is able to dodge to the side, evading the worst of the blast! AT the same time the other two aren't, basted in roasting hot flames! At least Simmer is unburned, instead smiling, "Oooooh, do it again all on me!" OOC: Aaeru.
[22:03] <Kotono> roll 1d4 recharge
[22:03] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d4 recharge and gets 1." [1d4=1]
[22:03] <Aaeru> "Let's not fight!" Aaeru exclaims, coming out of her defensive roll quite singed. She springs to her feet and lunges forward, seeking to embrace the violent dragon and keep it from attacking until they managed to talk things through!
[22:03] <Aaeru> roll 1d20+10 charge, touch for grapple
[22:03] * Hatbot --> "Aaeru rolls 1d20+10 charge, touch for grapple and gets 11." [1d20=1]
[22:05] <Kotono> Aaeru's charge in is a big bear hug to hold the dragon back, but the dragon is quicker! She misses by a millimeter, pushed back and on the defense! OOC: Janson.
[22:06] * Janson advances forward at least twenty feet, but really as far as it takes to get within thirty feet of the dragon before launching another blast, having to compensate his aim to avoid Aaeru and Wayland, but buoyed by Andrea's stirring words enough to make up for any embarrassment over her likely disappointment at how greedy he's being!
[22:06] <Janson> roll 1d20+3
[22:06] * Hatbot --> "Janson rolls 1d20+3 and gets 7." [1d20=4]
[22:07] <Kotono> Janson's aim is a little off, having to compensate! He ends up airballing the shot entirely, over the head of the entire battle! OOC: Andrea.
[22:07] <Kotono> OOC: Simmer's holding, she knows she cand o jack and shit here and vice versa.
[22:09] <Andria> Andrea steps towards the dragon, drawing her weapon along the way and attempting to slash at one of its wings.
[22:09] <Andria> roll d20+12
[22:09] * Hatbot --> "Andria rolls d20+12 and gets 22." [d20=10]
[22:10] <Andria> roll 2d4+8 hit?
[22:10] * Hatbot --> "Andria rolls 2d4+8 hit? and gets 12." [2d4=1, 3]
[22:11] <Kotono> Andrea closes into it, landing a solid blow right on it's other wing! Both wings are badly wounded now, hanging limp and bloody at it's sides! OOC: And I forgot Wayland in the init order but he's BRB anyway so it's no big if you two go out of order here.
[22:16] <Wayland> Seeing the dragon's flagging health, Wayland goes in for a series of crushing blows! OOC: Flurry

[22:17] * Hatbot --> "Wayland rolls 1d8+3+1d6 and gets 13." [1d8=8][1d6=2]
[22:18] <Kotono> Both blows slam into the dragon's chest, cracking the scales there like glass! Blood begins to leak from those cracks, as the dragon snarls! It's fiery head rears back as it triest o bite Wayland in two!
[22:18] <Kotono> roll 1d20+10
[22:18] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20+10 and gets 28." [1d20=18]
[22:18] <Kotono> roll 1d8+3 ow
[22:18] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d8+3 ow and gets 4." [1d8=1]
[22:18] <Kotono> A pair of claws come following, only slightly less intense than the bite!
[22:18] <Kotono> roll 1d20+8
[22:18] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20+8 and gets 24." [1d20=16]

[22:21] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d4+1 and gets 2." [1d4=1]
[22:22] <Kotono> Finally a wing manages to clip Wayland's side, opening up a small gash! He standsa ll of these, bloody but unbowed! OOC: Aaeru.
[22:22] <Aaeru> "Stop that!" Aaeru sternly commands, reaching down with her massive hand to clamp it over the baby dragon's jaw!
[22:22] <Aaeru> roll 1d20+9 touch1
[22:22] * Hatbot --> "Aaeru rolls 1d20+9 touch1 and gets 23." [1d20=14]

[22:23] <Kotono> roll 1d20+10 opposed grapple
[22:23] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20+10 opposed grapple and gets 19." [1d20=9]
[22:23] <Aaeru> roll 1d8+4 nonlethal
[22:23] * Hatbot --> "Aaeru rolls 1d8+4 nonlethal and gets 8." [1d8=4]
[22:23] <Aaeru> OOC: +1 more
[22:24] <Kotono> The dragon is grabbed, a hand slamming it's jaw shut as it struggles with Aaeru! It's body breaks further, blood coming from stress points all over! OOC: Janson.
[22:24] <Aaeru> "I'll spank you if you don't stop!" Aaeru threatens the dragon, hodling it tightly to her chest.
[22:25] * Janson can't risk shooting the dragon while it's held in Aaeru's embrace, so instead he charges forward and delivers a mighty kick to its neck held prominently in her grasp!
[22:25] <Janson> roll 1d20+7 charge~
[22:25] * Hatbot --> "Janson rolls 1d20+7 charge~ and gets 26." [1d20=19]
[22:25] <Janson> roll 1d3+2d6+2d6
[22:25] * Hatbot --> "Janson rolls 1d3+2d6+2d6 and gets 20." [1d3=2][2d6=5, 5][2d6=3, 5]
[22:26] <Janson> OOC: nonlethal, sadly
[22:26] <Kotono> "Stop it!" Thed ragons narls, "Youa re a fleshy human, not my moth-CRACK!" It's head jerks to the side as Janson delivers a massive kick, rocking it's head back an forth! It falls limp, eyes crossed and heavy, scaly body pressing down on Aaeru! OOC: Free act.
[22:27] <Aaeru> "He stopped!" Aaeru calls out instantly, cradling the baby dragon protectively in case anyone has any ideas about attacking him again.
[22:27] <Janson> "We all heard it make the deal, right?" Janson says as he starts towards the treasure. "If it won it got to eat us, if we won we got the treasure. That's how I understood it, anyway."
[22:28] <Wayland> "Seems only fair...even if you did kick it in the neck." Wayland nods.
[22:30] <Janson> "It was a pretty good kick, too!" Janson grins as he begins scooping up handfuls of gold onto his cloak, using it as an impromptu sackcloth.
[22:31] * Wayland eyes the dragon. "You know, I hear that dragonhide makes for excellent armor."
[22:32] <Aaeru> "No."
[22:32] * Aaeru adds in a glare for good measure.
[22:32] <Wayland> "No?"
[22:32] <Aaeru> "No!"
[22:32] <Wayland> "But it's obviously dead!"
[22:32] <Kotono> The moment Janson touches the gold, reality blurs. Seconds later all the party is back in their seats! A mote of light goes up from the gameboard, firming. In it a breastplate and greaves fall, made of brilliant red scales.
[22:32] <Wayland> "See! FATE!"
[22:33] <Kotono> "Are you alright?" Lady Moongal asks immediately, "We watched the entire battle."
[22:33] * Aaeru turns away to sulk.
[22:34] <Janson> "Aww, I wanted the treasure... that armour looks too heavy for me," Janson pouts. "I think it wouldn't be a bad idea for someone to go get some healing potions or a healer if the game continues like this, assuming we're going to play it to the end."
[22:34] * Wayland checks himself.
[22:34] <Kotono> The painful burns and fall bruises are still there.
[22:34] <Wayland> "Andrea would be the best candidate for that armor."
[22:34] <Wayland> "And no, I believe I am seriously injured."
[22:34] <Kotono> "I'm starting to understand the gamea  little bit," Lady Moongal says, "It's most exotic, is it not? I haven'ts een anything like this in at least 50 years!"
[22:34] <Andria> "I'll try to heal us some," Andrea declares at Janson's statement, focusing on her internal energies to help heal.
[22:34] <Andria> roll d6 turn 1
[22:34] * Hatbot --> "Andria rolls d6 turn 1 and gets 4." [d6=4]
[22:35] <Andria> roll d6 turn 2
[22:35] * Hatbot --> "Andria rolls d6 turn 2 and gets 2." [d6=2]
[22:35] <Andria> roll d6 turn 3
[22:35] * Hatbot --> "Andria rolls d6 turn 3 and gets 5." [d6=5]
[22:35] <Andria> roll d6 turn 4
[22:35] * Hatbot --> "Andria rolls d6 turn 4 and gets 3." [d6=3]
[22:36] * Aaeru gently places a hand on Andrea's shoulder to return the favor!
[22:37] <Andria> "Thanks," she says before casting a spell focused on Wayland to get him healed up a bit more.
[22:37] <Andria> roll d8+3 CLW
[22:37] * Hatbot --> "Andria rolls d8+3 CLW and gets 9." [d8=6]
[22:37] <Kotono> Simmer takes the dice, throwing them!
[22:37] <Kotono> roll 2d6
[22:37] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 2d6 and gets 8." [2d6=6, 2]
[22:38] <Kotono> She moves to the same square as Janson, handing the dice to him after, "Nothing that time. You're up, I think?"
[22:38] <Andria> "Janson's a popular fellow."
[22:39] <Janson> "Aww, and I have to leave you so soon!" Janson gives the dryad a teasing smile, rolling the dice.
[22:39] <Janson> roll 2d6
[22:39] * Hatbot --> "Janson rolls 2d6 and gets 7." [2d6=6, 1]
<Steph> I might have made a terrible mistake

[19:48] <Kotono> Janson's child advances seven spaces, one before the speedy Andrea! His child lands on the square, the entire thing turning a foul red! PENALTY SQUARE flashes above it, as Janson feels momentarily weak and light! OOC: Frot, Janson.
[19:48] <Janson> roll 1d20+4
[19:48] * Hatbot --> "Janson rolls 1d20+4 and gets 12." [1d20=8]
[19:48] <Kotono> Janson's entire body sags, as if some of him is less now! He feels lightheaded, muscles aching all over! OOC: 2 points of str damage to Janson.
[19:49] <Janson> "Oooh, feel like I drank too much and it's the morning after," Janson makes a face, sagging. "Why'd they put two penalty squares right next to each other, anyway?"
[19:50] <Kotono> "Why there are penalty squares in a child's game is a more direct question," Dacote frowns, pausing to go fetch a book. He leafs through it, "It begs the question of what sort of children play this game?"
[19:51] * Aaeru looks worriedly at Janson, but if it's just the same as drinking too much, it doesn't sound too terrible. She had seen many do that and they all recovered perfectly! "Do you think it's the same penalty?" she asks Dacote. "If a child's playing, I mean."
[19:51] * Aaeru frowns. "Because it would be bad, if children felt all drunk."
[19:51] <Kotono> "I don't know," he replies as he reads, attention on the book, "I don't think I'm comfortable with a child playing this to find out."
[19:52] * Aaeru can't argue with that, and picks up the dice, giving them a careful toss.
[19:52] <Aaeru> roll 2d6
[19:52] * Hatbot --> "Aaeru rolls 2d6 and gets 6." [2d6=3, 3]
[19:52] <Kotono> Aaeru tosses the dice, ending up on 11! Nothing happens, but a voice rumbles, "DOUBLES, ROLL AGAIN." A red light gathers around Aaeru's figurine!
[19:53] <Aaeru> The red looks nice, she muses, and not at all ominous!
[19:53] <Aaeru> roll 2d6
[19:53] * Hatbot --> "Aaeru rolls 2d6 and gets 9." [2d6=4, 5]
[19:54] <Janson> "It's more hungover than drunk," Janson elaborates. "Or like the flu, you know when your limbs feel all noodly?" he waves his arm which flops lethargically.
[19:56] <Kotono> Nine more squares Aaeru moves, landing on the 20th! The entire board flashes red, with a voice declaring, "HEROIC BATTLE!" Abruptly Aaeru is gone, vanishing away! OOC: #evil, Aaeru.
<Steph> I might have made a terrible mistake

[19:56] <Kotono> ---
[19:59] <Kotono> Before Aaeru are endless plains. Huge mountains soar up in the distance, waterfalls cascading down them in almost sheer, impossibly long drops. As you barely have a moment to notice that, it is before you. It's huge...a boar? But you've never seen one like this! It's triple the size of anormal boar, body covered with bony spines and spikes! It's tusks look razor sharp, as it charges right
[19:59] <Kotono> at you without preamble! OOC: Init, this is not a happy boar.
[19:59] <Kotono> roll 1d20 Boar
[19:59] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20 Boar and gets 13." [1d20=13]
[19:59] * Kotono changes topic to 'Boar(13)'
[19:59] <Aaeru> roll 1d20+1
[19:59] * Hatbot --> "Aaeru rolls 1d20+1 and gets 5." [1d20=4]
[20:00] * Kotono changes topic to 'Boar(13)>Aaeru(5)'
[20:00] <Kotono> Before she can act, the boar is on her with vicious intensity!
[20:01] <Kotono> roll 1d20+12 Flatfooted AC?
[20:01] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20+12 Flatfooted AC? and gets 27." [1d20=15]
[20:01] <Aaeru> OOC: Not that
[20:01] <Kotono> roll 1d8+10
[20:01] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d8+10 and gets 11." [1d8=1]
[20:01] <Kotono> The boar's charge is swift, impaling Aaeru's side! A deft twist avoids the worst of it, but blood still comes flowing! OOC: Aaeru, you're up.
[20:05] <Aaeru> If it's a boar, she doesn't need to hold back, Aaeru thinks through the pain. She can't reason with boars, and the game wouldn't let her retreat since it expects a heroic deed from her! She grabs the tusk imbedded in her side with both hands and twists, pulling herself off it. Then, mindful of the spikes and protrusions as much as she is able to be, Aaeru grabs the boar in a headlock!
[20:05] <Aaeru> roll 1d20+6 touch
[20:06] * Hatbot --> "Aaeru rolls 1d20+6 touch and gets 21." [1d20=15]
[20:06] <Kotono> OOC: Hit.
[20:06] <Aaeru> roll 1d20+13 grapple
[20:06] * Hatbot --> "Aaeru rolls 1d20+13 grapple and gets 26." [1d20=13]
[20:06] <Kotono> roll 1d20+13
[20:06] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20+13 and gets 31." [1d20=18]
[20:06] <Aaeru> roll 1d20+6 another touch
[20:06] * Hatbot --> "Aaeru rolls 1d20+6 another touch and gets 17." [1d20=11]
[20:06] <Kotono> OOC: Another hit.
[20:06] <Aaeru> roll 1d20+13 another grapple
[20:06] * Hatbot --> "Aaeru rolls 1d20+13 another grapple and gets 27." [1d20=14]
[20:06] <Kotono> roll 1d20+13
[20:06] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20+13 and gets 22." [1d20=9]
[20:06] <Aaeru> roll 1d8+4+1d6
[20:06] * Hatbot --> "Aaeru rolls 1d8+4+1d6 and gets 15." [1d8=6][1d6=5]
[20:07] <Kotono> Aaeru captures it in a headlock, slamming it's neck with her elbow as she locks on! The boar thrashes about wildly, trying to throw Aaeru right off after! OOC: It's using it's turn on an opposed grapple to get rid of headlockin' Aaeru.
[20:08] <Aaeru> roll 1d20+15 grapple to deny it!
[20:08] * Hatbot --> "Aaeru rolls 1d20+15 grapple to deny it! and gets 35." [1d20=20]
[20:08] <Kotono> roll 1d20+13
[20:08] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20+13 and gets 17." [1d20=4]
[20:08] <Kotono> But Aaeru has it tightly, the beast nearly skewering her with it's tusks as she holds on! OOC: Go.
[20:09] * Aaeru squeezes her arms tighter around the boar's neck, bringing a flaming knee to meet with its skull and, if she's lucky, break off one of those dangerous tusks!
[20:09] <Aaeru> roll 1d20+13 grapple1
[20:09] * Hatbot --> "Aaeru rolls 1d20+13 grapple1 and gets 18." [1d20=5]
[20:09] <Aaeru> roll 1d20+13 grapple2
[20:09] * Hatbot --> "Aaeru rolls 1d20+13 grapple2 and gets 22." [1d20=9]
[20:09] <Kotono> roll 1d20+13 grapple 1
[20:09] <Kotono> roll 1d20+13 grapple 2
[20:09] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20+13 grapple 1 and gets 23." [1d20=10]
[20:09] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20+13 grapple 2 and gets 31." [1d20=18]
[20:10] <Kotono> Aaeru keeps going, but the boar rocks back and forth! It kicks back, resisting as it tries to yoink it's head out from her lethal grip!
[20:10] <Kotono> roll 1d20+13
[20:10] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20+13 and gets 22." [1d20=9]
[20:10] <Aaeru> roll 1d20+15
[20:10] * Hatbot --> "Aaeru rolls 1d20+15 and gets 28." [1d20=13]
[20:10] <Kotono> But Aaeru's grip is like iron, ungiving and tight as a vice! OOC: Go.
[20:11] * Aaeru shifts the grip on the boar's head to one arm, punching at its face rapidly with the other!
[20:11] <Aaeru> roll 1d20+13 grapple1
[20:11] * Hatbot --> "Aaeru rolls 1d20+13 grapple1 and gets 33." [1d20=20]
[20:11] <Aaeru> roll 1d20+13 grapple2
[20:11] * Hatbot --> "Aaeru rolls 1d20+13 grapple2 and gets 31." [1d20=18]
[20:12] <Kotono> roll 1d20+13
[20:12] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20+13 and gets 18." [1d20=5]
[20:12] <Kotono> roll 1d20+13
[20:12] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20+13 and gets 29." [1d20=16]
[20:12] <Aaeru> roll 1d8+4+1d6
[20:12] <Aaeru> roll 1d8+4+1d6
[20:12] * Hatbot --> "Aaeru rolls 1d8+4+1d6 and gets 14." [1d8=5][1d6=5]
[20:12] * Hatbot --> "Aaeru rolls 1d8+4+1d6 and gets 10." [1d8=3][1d6=3]
[20:13] <Kotono> Yet Aaeru crushes harder, flames scorching the boar's head as it starts to droop! But suddenly it thrashes, tusks trying to impale Aaeru even in grasp!
[20:13] <Kotono> roll 1d20+8 (-4 grapple)
[20:13] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20+8 (-4 grapple) and gets 16." [1d20=8]
[20:13] <Kotono> OOC: AC?
[20:13] <Aaeru> OOC: 15
[20:14] <Kotono> roll 1d8+10
[20:14] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d8+10 and gets 18." [1d8=8]
[20:15] <Kotono> The boar's thrust goes right into Aaeru's stomach, her vision flashing a dark purple and then red! She feels her lungs work, a wet, bloody-red cough following! But she's still up, still breathing!
[20:15] <Kotono> OOC: Go.
[20:17] <Aaeru> As her strength begins to leave her with another wound opening, Aaeru says a quick, heartfelt prayer to Ilmater and channels that spiritual strength into a burst of physical one! She tries to grasp the boar by two bony spines, spaced apart, and then lift it off its feet to slam it down on the ground, on its back and defeated!
[20:17] <Aaeru> roll 1d20+13 grapple1
[20:17] <Aaeru> roll 1d20+13 grapple2
[20:17] * Hatbot --> "Aaeru rolls 1d20+13 grapple1 and gets 26." [1d20=13]
[20:17] * Hatbot --> "Aaeru rolls 1d20+13 grapple2 and gets 17." [1d20=4]
[20:17] <Kotono> roll 1d20+13
[20:17] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20+13 and gets 14." [1d20=1]
[20:17] <Kotono> roll 1d20+13
[20:17] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20+13 and gets 24." [1d20=11]
[20:17] <Kotono> OOC: One success.
[20:17] <Aaeru> roll 1d8+4+1d6
[20:17] * Hatbot --> "Aaeru rolls 1d8+4+1d6 and gets 14." [1d8=8][1d6=2]
[20:18] <Kotono> With a final, desperate effort Aaeru lifts the boar up! She slams it down with all her might, the tusks snapping off! A pair of spines snap off as well, the ones she used! The boar goes limp on the ground, blood pooling out from a split belly. For a moment ther eis nothing, then...OOC: Moving you back to #dunes.
<Steph> I might have made a terrible mistake

Corwin

[19:56] <Janson> "She seems to get all the fun ones," Janson pouts as Aaeru vanishes again, leaning over to watch her performance.
[20:00] <Kotono> "Mm-hm," Simmer peers, "I want to burn that heroic challenge down, buth oh well..." She watches, peering forward. As she does it appears - Aaeru on grassy plains, a huge boar before her. It's ibgger than her, giving Aaeru a good charge!
[20:01] <Janson> "Oh, maybe not... dunno if I'd want to tackle an angry dire boar with no cover around," Janson amends worriedly as he watches.
[20:02] <Kotono> "A dire animal?" Simmer frowns, "Most dire animals can defeat a normal human without an effort, let alone a predator. But at least Aaeru's not normal!"
[20:03] <Janson> "She's nearly as big as it, to start with!" Janson agrees cheerily.
[20:04] <Kotono> "Mmm-hm," Simmer agrees, as the boar charges and nastily impales Aaeru's side! She winces, "Still, that's a hell of a fight. I wish she had more fire or I was there. I mean, her fists burst into flame now at least, right?"
[20:05] <Janson> "Very fiery," Janson agrees. "Just wait until she gets her hands around its neck..."
[20:05] <Kotono> "Hm," Lady Moongal watches as well, starting to smile, "A heroic battle, hm? It will be a notable victory if Aaeru triumphs. What a fascinating game. I really must meet whomever made it, there's so much going on with it."
[20:07] <Janson> "It's like going on an adventure without even leaving your house," Janson grins, gesturing at the dragon armour, "It even gives you real treasure!"
[20:08] <Kotono> After that charge Aaeru is quick, wrapping her arm around the boar's neck! She puts the huge thing in a headlock, trying to choke and bring it down!
[20:08] * Janson nods in vindication as Aaeru's caring hug of suffering does its grim work as expected.
[20:09] <Kotono> "Still," Dacote half frowns as he continues to read, "It is possible there is an ulterior motive to this game, as well as there being a very real risk of harm or even death."
[20:11] <Janson> "Reward always comes hand in hand with risk," Janson nods sagely.
[20:12] <Kotono> "Maybe an archwizard got bored of going out for his adventuring and danger?" Simmer thinks as she watches the two still grapple, "Most wizards go insane, don't they?" Simmer plays with a bit of hair as she does, watching intently.
[20:13] <Wayland> "I doubt a child would be able to take down a red dragon, or a dire boar. This game was either not made for children, or was made with sinister purpose, I would think." Says Wayland.
[20:14] <Kotono> "That myth is greatly exaggerated," Lady Moongal chuckles, "I am quite sane. Irregardless, a sinister purpose is also possible. Could you imagine a demon or daemon crafting a game like this, to lure children into their painful demise? Should any get lucky, the lure of treasure may keep them in long enough to be finished."
[20:15] <Andria> "That, or it responds to our level of skill maybe? I know we said it's not worth risking putting a kid behind the dice, but it's still possible too that it could lower it's difficulty for kids," Andrea says.
[20:15] <Kotono> As they grapple, the boar lunges forward! It impales Aaeru in the stomach, tusk poking out on the other side! Blood flows like a raging river, but yet Aaeru holds it tight!
[20:15] <Janson> "Maybe it's for the children of mighty heroes?" Janson suggests. "Start them off young to follow in the family tradition!" he pumps his fist, before blinking, "Oh, you're a wizard, Lady Moongal?" he glances sidelong at Dacote, "I thought for sure you were like the elder daughters of Jannath."
[20:15] <Andria> "No real way to find out though, unfortunately."
[20:17] <Kotono> "I am..." She pauses to look on as Aaeru gets impaled, face turning calm and impassive. "A serious blow. Can she endure that, even if she comes out victorious? Do you have remedy ready?"
[20:17] * Janson is distracted as well by the action unfolding. "Oww, it's going right through her!"
[20:18] * Wayland points at the game. "See? No child would be able to survive that!"
[20:19] <Kotono> With a final, meaty move Aaeru takes the boar by the spines, lifts it up and slams it down! It stays there, blood pooling out! A second later, Aaeru appears where she was, bleeding!
[20:19] <Kotono> The boar spines are still in her hand, blood stained.
[20:19] <Aaeru> "Heroic battle," Aaeru gasps, holding the more serious of her wounds with both hands as the boar spines clatter to the ground. "Was it heroic?"
[20:20] * Janson promptly offers a shoulder for Aaeru's prodigious bulk to rest on, heedless of getting blood on himself. "Any more healing in you, Andrea?" he asks worriedly, before nodding, "Very heroic!" he encourages the blonde.
[20:20] <Wayland> "It certainly looked painful!" Wayland says.
[20:20] <Aaeru> "It was painful," Aaeru assures him between quick, shallow breaths.
[20:22] <Andria> "Very heroic," Andrea says in agreement, nodding to Janson as she steps closer to Aaeru, singing a song as light surrounds her hands and healing courses through Aaeru's body. (OOC: Using healing hymn and cure minor wound spells for 21 hp)
[20:23] <Kotono> Aaeru's wounds stitch themselves back together, whole flesh replacing grevious wounds! "An impressive battle," Dacote goes over to Aaeru and gives her a once over, "Do be even more careful. The idea that this may be the work of a fiend has crossed our minds while you battle."
[20:23] <Andria> ooc: wait, 24 hp, so 3 more hp
[20:24] <Aaeru> "It doesn't look evil...." Aaeru says, trailing off. She gives the game another doubtful look, before shrugging slightly as it no longer hurts to move her shoulders or breathe. "But it's all luck. How can you be careful with luck?" she asks Dacote.
[20:24] <Kotono> "Ask Tymora," He retorts, "Though I doubt you'd like the answer."
[20:26] <Andria> "So do we want to keep playing, stop and find out more about this game or what?" Andrea asks, grabbing the dice and bouncing them in the palm of her hand.
[20:27] <Janson> "I'm still in," Janson asserts, eager to win this despite lagging behind!
[20:27] <Kotono> "I do rather want to see more," Lady Moongal says, looking to them. "Continue."
[20:27] <Andria> Andrea blows on the dice for luck, shakes the dice in her hand and rolls. "Alright, let's go for something awesome here!"
[20:27] <Andria> roll 2d6
[20:27] * Hatbot --> "Andria rolls 2d6 and gets 3." [2d6=2, 1]
[20:28] <Andria> "If the square isn't something interesting, I'm never blowing on my dice for luck again," Andrea says with a frown.
[20:29] <Kotono> Andrea moves forward 3 spaces, to the 19th square! Nothing happens! Simmer frowns, "I suppose Wayland could try blowing on the dice? That's more his element."
[20:29] <Janson> "I wish they were labelled so we could at least see what we're missing out on."
[20:30] <Andria> "Same here, Janson," Andrea agrees.
[20:31] <Aaeru> "Maybe the game tells you if you win?" Aaeru suggests.
[20:33] <Andria> "We'll find out then, I guess. Wayland's turn now, right?"
[20:33] <Kotono> "Uh huh," Simmer nods, "Then mine."
[20:35] <Wayland> "Alright." Wayland picks up the dice, rolls them around a bit in his hand, and tosses them on the board
[20:35] <Wayland> roll 2d6
[20:35] * Hatbot --> "Wayland rolls 2d6 and gets 5." [2d6=4, 1]
[20:37] <Kotono> Wayland rolls five, ending up on the popular 8th square. Nothing happens, as expected. Simmer scoops up the dice and holds them out to Wayland, "Blow on them for luck? If it works for anyone, it's an air blooded."
[20:37] * Wayland chuckles and blows on the dice.
[20:37] <Andria> "That square seems popular. Everyone except Aaeru stopped there," Andrea says with a grin.
[20:38] <Aaeru> "I was too busy fighting," Aaeru says in her defense.
[20:40] <Andria> "Not saying it's a bad thing, you're technically winning after all, you know," Andrea points out.
[20:41] <Kotono> With that Simmer tosses the dice!
[20:41] <Kotono> roll 2d6
[20:41] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 2d6 and gets 4." [2d6=1, 3]
[20:44] <Kotono> Simmer ends up on the 12th square! For a moment the words DANGER SQUARE glow, and Simmer is gone! Seconds later she appears in what looks to be a cave, a lizard-like humanoid before her. It has a club in hand, gesturing it wildly at her!
[20:46] <Kotono> ---
[20:46] <Kotono> roll 1d20+6
[20:46] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20+6 and gets 10." [1d20=4]
[20:46] <Kotono> roll 1d20-1
[20:46] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20-1 and gets 10." [1d20=11]
[20:46] <Kotono> roll 4d4
[20:46] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 4d4 and gets 12." [4d4=4, 3, 1, 4]
[20:46] <Kotono> roll 1d20-1
[20:46] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20-1 and gets 8." [1d20=9]
[20:47] <Kotono> roll 1d20+1 club
[20:47] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20+1 club and gets 5." [1d20=4]
[20:48] <Kotono> roll 1d4
[20:48] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d4 and gets 1." [1d4=1]
[20:48] <Kotono> roll 1d20-1
[20:48] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20-1 and gets 9." [1d20=10]
[20:48] <Kotono> roll 1d20+1 club
[20:48] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20+1 club and gets 5." [1d20=4]
[21:06] <Kotono> -----
[20:45] <Janson> "Good luck, Simmer!" Janson encourages the fiery dryad as she vanishes.
[20:46] <Kotono> Simmer steps back and says something, the lizard-man not reactinb beyond to charge her! Then...
[20:47] <Kotono> As the lizard charges and brings it's head up, Simmer dives to the side! A great torrent of fire erupts from her hands, scorching the face of the lizardman terribly! It swings through empty air in the meantime!
[20:48] <Janson> "She's off to a good start. If she can keep that up she'll be fine," Janson approves of the performance thus far.
[20:49] * Aaeru stares enraptured at the battle, finally getting to see what the fuss was all about from this side. "Her fire is very strong," she agrees with Janson quietly.
[20:50] <Kotono> Again the lizard charges, Simmer hopping away and leaping! She sends fires downward, engulfing the lizard's back! It's enough to make it stumble to it's knees and collapse...and a second later Simmer appears where she was! "...All of you straight to the biggest firepi-oh, I'm back." She looks about, checking her arms and body over before sighing. "Whew, don't think it managed to hit me. Lucky."
[20:51] <Aaeru> "You would know if it hit you," Aaeru tells her sagely.
[20:51] <Janson> "You were very nimble and fiery," Janson approves sollemnly, taking up the dice to throw across the board himself, being careful not to hit any pieces.
[20:51] <Aaeru> "And congratulations!"
[20:51] <Janson> roll 2d6
[20:51] * Hatbot --> "Janson rolls 2d6 and gets 10." [2d6=5, 5]
[20:54] <Kotono> Janson zips ahead 10 squares, to 25! A golden text above the square reads, "TREASURE SQUARE!" In the air before Janson 3 treasure boxes appear, and a voice rumbles, "Choose your destiny..."
[20:54] <Wayland> "Wow, lucky!"
[20:54] <Andria> "No kidding. And it was a double roll too!"
[20:55] <Janson> "Huh, no doubler reroll?" Janson muses, before starting to move his fingers between the squares while chanting a children's rhyme under his breath. "- you are IT!" he concludes, pointing to the rightmost box.
[20:56] <Kotono> The other two boxes vanish! The third one opens, and an item floats out from it. It is a tightly wrapped scroll, coming to Janson's hands before the third box vanishes! Then his figurine glows red, and a voice rumbles, "DOUBLES, ROLL AGAIN!"
[20:57] * Janson rolls the dice first before he bothers to look at the scroll.
[20:57] <Janson> roll 2d6
[20:57] * Hatbot --> "Janson rolls 2d6 and gets 7." [2d6=4, 3]
[20:59] <Kotono> This time Janson lands on the 32nd square! Nothing happens!
[21:00] * Janson now takes the time to unroll and read the scroll!
[21:00] <Andria> "Roll a five, Aaeru!" Andrea says. "We know that's a good square!
[21:00] <Andria> "
[21:00] <Aaeru> With Janson safe, Aaeru rolls the dice, trusting in Tymora!
[21:01] <Aaeru> roll 2d6
[21:01] * Hatbot --> "Aaeru rolls 2d6 and gets 10." [2d6=4, 6]
[21:06] <Kotono> Going ahead Aaeru ends up on square number 30! The entire board flashes red, with a voice declaring, "HEROIC BATTLE!" Abruptly Aaeru is gone, vanishing away!  OOC: #Evil again, Aaeru.

[21:06] <Kotono> -----
[21:08] <Kotono> Aaeru appears amid a battlefield. The broken remnants of horses, men and armor lie about her. Swords dot the ground, as if a legion's worth of blades were sheathed in the uncaring earth. The sky is a strange, offcolor pink with heavy clouds. Before you he approaches, clad in shining heavy armor from head to toe. A heavy morning star is in hand, "Prepare, for only bravery and courage shall
[21:08] <Kotono> save you here!"
[21:08] <Aaeru> "So we have to fight?" Aaeru asks to make certain of it.
[21:09] <Kotono> "Existance is to fight!" The armored man bellows back in agreement, "Prove yourself on one of the endless, eternal battlefields!" With that he charges headlong at her! OOC: Init.
[21:10] <Kotono> roll 1d20
[21:10] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20 and gets 6." [1d20=6]
[21:10] <Aaeru> roll 1d20+1
[21:10] * Hatbot --> "Aaeru rolls 1d20+1 and gets 6." [1d20=5]
[21:10] * Kotono changes topic to 'Armored(6)'
[21:10] * Kotono changes topic to 'Aaeru(6)=Armored(6)'
[21:10] <Kotono> OOC: Epic. Go ahead and go first, you have the higher mod here.
[21:12] * Aaeru has a feeling she can't win this battle if she pulls her punches, but she doesn't really want to hurt a person if she can help it. Therefore, she gestures at the charging man with her massive arm, golden dust trailing it. Glitterdust might let her win this without either of them being too badly hurt, and should it fail, she might still block the charge in time.
[21:12] <Kotono> roll 1d20+5 will
[21:12] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20+5 will and gets 21." [1d20=16]
[21:12] <Aaeru> OOC: DC15, so success. Do I get to AoO him?
[21:13] <Kotono> Golden dust coats the charging warrior, as he closes in with Aaeru! OOC:  You can AoO since you have reach, yeah.
[21:14] <Aaeru> Regretful though it is, Aaeru tries to wrap her fist around the arm holding the morning star and stop this attack before it takes place!
[21:14] <Aaeru> roll 1d20+8 touch
[21:14] * Hatbot --> "Aaeru rolls 1d20+8 touch and gets 17." [1d20=9]
[21:14] <Kotono> OOC: Hit. Grapple.
[21:14] <Aaeru> roll 1d20+15 grapple, activating strength devotion
[21:14] * Hatbot --> "Aaeru rolls 1d20+15 grapple, activating strength devotion and gets 35." [1d20=20]
[21:14] <Kotono> roll 1d20+10 Irrelevant
[21:14] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20+10 Irrelevant and gets 22." [1d20=12]
[21:15] <Aaeru> roll 1d8+6+1d6
[21:15] * Hatbot --> "Aaeru rolls 1d8+6+1d6 and gets 17." [1d8=8][1d6=3]
[21:16] <Kotono> WHAM! Aaeru catches his wrist and grips down, a painful cracking as she catches the charging warrior cold in his tracks! OOC: Go Aaeru.
[21:17] * Aaeru applies more pressure, squeezing down on the wrist to cut off circulation, while her other hand comes to trap her opponent's free left arm.
[21:17] <Aaeru> roll 1d20+13 grapple1
[21:17] <Aaeru> roll 1d20+13 grapple2
[21:17] * Hatbot --> "Aaeru rolls 1d20+13 grapple1 and gets 32." [1d20=19]
[21:17] * Hatbot --> "Aaeru rolls 1d20+13 grapple2 and gets 23." [1d20=10]
[21:18] <Kotono> roll 1d20+10
[21:18] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20+10 and gets 20." [1d20=10]
[21:18] <Kotono> roll 1d20+10
[21:18] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20+10 and gets 16." [1d20=6]
[21:18] <Aaeru> roll 1d8+6+1d6
[21:18] <Aaeru> roll 1d8+6+1d6
[21:18] * Hatbot --> "Aaeru rolls 1d8+6+1d6 and gets 19." [1d8=8][1d6=5]
[21:18] * Hatbot --> "Aaeru rolls 1d8+6+1d6 and gets 15." [1d8=3][1d6=6]
[21:19] <Kotono> Just like that, the warrior is snapped apart! Aaeru's might is such that the armored man is broken and defeated and then...OOC: Dunes.
<Steph> I might have made a terrible mistake

[21:06] * Janson looks up from deciphering his scroll and blinks. "Again?"
[21:07] <Andria> "Jeez, you weren't kidding about her getting all the fun squares. I'd say it was Ilmater helping her trigger all the dangerous ones, but Wayland hasn't hit 'em..."
[21:09] <Kotono> "Maybe Aaeru's just lucky, or unlucky?" Simmer says as she watches Aaeru appear! In a broken battlefield a man in armor and with amorning star is before the monk.
[21:11] <Janson> "Oh, a spell to be more heroic," Janson notes after another glance at his scroll. "I wonder if I should just use it now to make the rest of the game easier..."
[21:14] <Kotono> "How does that work," Simmer looks up, "Magic?"
[21:16] <Janson> "Yeah, it basically just makes you a little bit better at everything you do for half an hour," Janson nods. "Actually, if any of you guys want it I could cast it on you? Or Aaeru when she gets back, for that matter."
[21:17] <Kotono> Meanwhile the charge is stopped by Aaeru after glittering golden dust flares around the knight! She catches his weapon armo, holding him stuck!
[21:19] <Kotono> Then the two meet, Aaeru twisting and breaking the awrrior with pure strength! She appears where she was, safe and sound!
[21:19] <Aaeru> "Oh, already?" Aaeru asks, looking around in disorientation. "I didn't even have time to ask him to stop and surrender again."
[21:20] <Andria> Andrea claps for Aaeru. "Impressive as always!"
[21:20] <Janson> "Hey, Aaeru," Janson nods, unsurprised at how ruthlessly she delivered the hug of suffering to her opponent. "I got a scroll of heroism. Want me to cast it on you since you keep ending up in fights?"
[21:23] * Aaeru considers Janson's offer, even as she automatically says, "Thank you," to him. She looks at the board, then at the figurines of children, and finally at those of Simmer and Wayland. "They can stop here," she voices, pointing at the 20th square, "and here." This time, she gestures at the 30th. "Maybe it is best for them?"
[21:23] <Andria> Andrea grabs the dice since it's her turn next and shakes them. "Come on double three's! Let's see some shiny treasure!" Andrea declares as she releases the dice. She seems a bit more energetic again now, ignoring how her body feels weaker after that early penalty square.
[21:23] <Andria> roll 2d6
[21:23] * Hatbot --> "Andria rolls 2d6 and gets 8." [2d6=5, 3]
[21:24] <Andria> Andrea boos the die that landed a five. "Traitorous die!"
[21:25] <Janson> "Okay, either of you two want it?" Janson asks the air and fire duo.
[21:26] <Wayland> "I've been okay so far without it. Why not save it for yourself? You won it fair and square."
[21:26] <Kotono> Andrea goes to the 27th square! Above the square reads DANGER SQUARE! before Andrea vanishes away! OOC: #evil.
<Steph> I might have made a terrible mistake

[21:27] <Kotono> ----
[21:27] <Andria> "GAH! I thought these squares only liked Aaeru!" Andrea exclaims as she draws her weapon on instinct, familiar with the sight of Aaeru landing on these squares.
[21:29] <Kotono> Hills. Andrea stands atop a hill...yet shadows fall on her! Above her is a 12 foot tall humanoid, mangy and with dull yellow skin the color of sick-snot. It wears dirty hides and carries a big club, one that it raises as it stomps towards Andrea, "Puny! Punier! Run puny creature!" OOC: Init, it doesn't look like it likes you.
[21:29] <Andria> roll d20+4
[21:29] * Hatbot --> "Andria rolls d20+4 and gets 19." [d20=15]
[21:29] <Kotono> roll 1d20-1
[21:29] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20-1 and gets 19." [1d20=20]
[21:29] * Kotono changes topic to 'Andrea(19)=Giant(19)'
[21:30] <Kotono> OOC: Go ahead and open, higher mod.
[21:32] <Andria> "Like heck I'm running! I need to get through you to get back to the others!" Andrea declares as she steps closer to the creature, swinging in reckless abandon.
[21:32] <Andria> roll d20+11
[21:32] * Hatbot --> "Andria rolls d20+11 and gets 26." [d20=15]
[21:33] <Kotono> OOC: Hit.
[21:33] <Andria> roll 2d4+7+d6
[21:33] * Hatbot --> "Andria rolls 2d4+7+d6 and gets 14." [2d4=2, 2][d6=3]
[21:34] <Kotono> Oh, Andrea lands a solid hit! Her flaming feather flicks feriously through the charging giant, nearly severing it at the torso! Yet it also burns, but even then stays up as it's terrible club comes hammering down!
[21:34] <Kotono> roll 1d20+10 (+2 charge)
[21:34] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20+10 (+2 charge) and gets 22." [1d20=12]
[21:34] <Kotono> OOC: AC?
[21:34] <Andria> ooc: 16, hit
[21:35] <Kotono> roll 2d8+7\
[21:35] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 2d8+7\ and gets Error: Numeric values only." [2d8=3, 7]
[21:35] <Kotono> OOC: 17.
[21:35] <Kotono> With a sickening CRUNCH Andrea's shoudler shatters under the impact! Agony howls in her mind as her stomach pitches, but she stays up with all the vitality she can muster! OOC: Go.
[21:38] <Andria> Andrea grits her teeth and swings again, yelling as she puts as much energy behind her strike as she can. Hopefully the next strike can finish the creature off because with the size of it's weapon, it's going to be hard to dodge those swings! (ooc: smite evil)
[21:38] <Andria> roll d20+15
[21:38] * Hatbot --> "Andria rolls d20+15 and gets 35." [d20=20]
[21:38] <Andria> roll d20+15 threat?
[21:38] * Hatbot --> "Andria rolls d20+15 threat? and gets 35." [d20=20]
[21:39] <Kotono> OOC: That be a crit. Go ahead and roll another tiem to seei f you get a third 20, just for kicks.
[21:40] <Andria> roll d20+15 for kicks
[21:40] * Hatbot --> "Andria rolls d20+15 for kicks and gets 24." [d20=9]
[21:40] <Andria> roll 4d4+14+d6+4
[21:40] * Hatbot --> "Andria rolls 4d4+14+d6+4 and gets 31." [4d4=1, 2, 3, 2][d6=5]

[21:27] <Kotono> "Again?" This time Lady Moongal observes that, "Quite a few battles already, and the game's only half over."
[21:27] <Janson> "Andrea can take it," Janson nods fervently, distracting himself for a moment as he pores over the scroll and makes some arcane muttering...
[21:28] <Janson> roll 1d20+11 DC 25 UMD
[21:28] * Hatbot --> "Janson rolls 1d20+11 DC 25 UMD and gets 13." [1d20=2]
[21:28] <Aaeru> "What's the difference?" Aaeru asks, pointing at the board. "Why are mine Heroic Battle but it's Danger Square for Andrea and Simmer?"
[21:30] <Janson> roll 1d20+11 DC 25 UMD
[21:30] * Hatbot --> "Janson rolls 1d20+11 DC 25 UMD and gets 31." [1d20=20]
[21:31] <Kotono> "I'm not quite sure yet," Dacote says, again looking up from his book, "On a slight guess, perhaps one brings harder opponents?"
[21:31] <Kotono> Before you appears Andrea, drawing her sword! Towering over her is an ugly giant, dressed in hides and carrying a club. It looks like it wants to smash her oh so very much!
[21:32] <Janson> "Looks scary, but Aaeru could probably bend him into a pretzel, so I hope Andrea can at least carve him up good," Janson opines, looking up as the scroll disintegrates in a wash of magic.
[21:32] <Aaeru> "A very large pretzel."
[21:36] <Kotono> The two meet together, trading blows! Andrea nearly rips it apart at the stomach, while Andrea's shoulder is crunched under the clubbing! Both stagger momentarily!
[21:36] <Janson> "Oooh... nasty!" Janson winces at the action unfolding before them.
[21:36] * Aaeru gasps at the savagery!
[21:37] <Kotono> Simmer frowns and winces, "That looked bad."
[21:37] * Wayland winces in sympathy.
[21:41] <Kotono> In the image Andrea charges forward, blade-feather flashing as she  shouts! She cuts down, bisecting the giant apart! As it falls apart in image Andrea reappears, safe and relatively sound! Besides a shattered shoulder and the searing agony that's telling her how much it's ruined.
[21:43] <Andria> "You know what? I think you can keep the 'fun' squares to yourself, Aaeru," Andrea says with a wince as she lays a hand over her shoulder gingerly, healing herself of as much as she can. (ooc: LoH for 16hp)
[21:44] <Janson> "You gave worse than you got at least," Janson smiles, refraining from a celebratory clap on the shoulder all things considered.
[21:44] <Aaeru> "I'll try?"
[21:44] <Kotono> "Whew," Simmer sighs, "Well, maybe I'll get to burn something in your place next time."
[21:45] <Andria> Andrea makes a thumbs up gesture at Janson with a weak smile. "If you don't finish the game next turn, Janson, we may want to take a break for a day so I can recover my magic a bit though, especially if we get any more of those squares."
[21:48] <Janson> "I'd need a doubler for that," Janson notes, looking at the board. "Try and get an easy one, Wayland?"
[21:48] <Wayland> "Here's hoping." Wayland grabs the dice and rolls them.
[21:49] <Wayland> roll 2d6
[21:49] * Hatbot --> "Wayland rolls 2d6 and gets 6." [2d6=5, 1]
[21:50] <Kotono> Wayland advances to the 14th square! The square turns blow, glowing! PORTAL SQUARE appears, before Wayland vanishes! OOC: #evil.

[21:50] <Kotono> ---
[21:51] <Kotono> Wayland appears atop a mountain. Vast clouds run below him, the mountain top surging above the cloud line. The air is cold and clean, blowing in steady winds. The very top of the mountain is flat, as if the point was filed away. Before you lies two simmering pools of light. One is a light blue, one is a light red.
[21:53] <Wayland> "Well, at least im sent somewhere nice." he says, peering into the blue pool.
[21:53] <Kotono> The blue pool is a vortex of light. As you peer you get a sensation, that the light and whirl is moving ahead, racing ahead.
[21:55] * Wayland turns and looks at the red pool.
[21:55] <Kotono> The red pool looks like blood the more you stare at it. Like weeping blood, as if you can see it flowing from wounds.
[21:56] * Wayland likes the red pool less and less. "Hmm. So what do I do here?"
[21:57] * Wayland decides to give the blue pool a shot and moves toward it.
[21:58] <Kotono> There is a sensation of moving forward, then..(Dunes)

[21:51] <Andria> "...portal square. That's new," Andrea says as she waits to see what happens to Wayland.
[21:54] <Kotono> Wayland appears, a blue portal and a red portal before him as he stands on a flat mountain top. He goes to peer at the blue portal, Lady Moongal blink-blinking, "...Portals? Such high magic, used in such a game? As if teleportation and conjuration weren't enough!"
[21:55] <Janson> "Well it's just coloured lights that trigger a teleport, right? Considering the game's been teleporting us all over the place it's not that much a surprise," Janson offers. "Wonder what's taking him, though? He just has to pick one, right?"
[21:58] <Kotono> Wayland reappears! At the same time his figurine on the board is surrounded by blue light! He zips ahead a full twenty squares, ending up at the 34th square!
[21:59] <Janson> "Oh, you came from behind!" Janson exclaims innocently.
[21:59] <Wayland> "Blue is my color, it seems." Wayland grins.
[22:00] <Andria> "So it seems! From last place to first!"
[22:01] <Kotono> Simmer takes the dice, "Lucky you, no fight!"With that she tosses the bones!
[22:01] <Kotono> roll 2d6
[22:01] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 2d6 and gets 6." [2d6=2, 4]
[22:01] <Kotono> Simmer advances to the 18th square and nothing happens! She watches a moment and then shrugs, "Oh well. Janson's turn."
[22:02] * Janson picks up the dice and gives them a little toss in the air before scattering them across the board!
[22:02] <Janson> roll 2d6
[22:02] * Hatbot --> "Janson rolls 2d6 and gets 3." [2d6=2, 1]
[22:02] <Janson> "Not winning with that one," Janson remarks as his piece starts moving.
[22:02] <Aaeru> "Maybe it's a portal?"
[22:03] <Wayland> "Or another treasure square!"
[22:05] <Kotono> Janson advances to the 35th square! Nothing happens!
[22:06] <Aaeru> This time, it's Aaeru's turn to toss the dice!
[22:06] <Aaeru> roll 2d6
[22:06] * Hatbot --> "Aaeru rolls 2d6 and gets 6." [2d6=1, 5]
[22:06] <Kotono> "Another blank," Simmer says, "I'm not sure if that's really good or bad luck, honestly."
[22:06] <Janson> "It's boring," Janson emits a heartfelt sigh. "Better luck, Aaeru."
[22:08] <Kotono> Square 36! On this one gold letters appear, TREASUARE SQUARE! In the air before Aaeru 3 treasure boxes appear, and a voice rumbles, "Choose your destiny..."
[22:08] <Andria> "Hey, another treasure square. Congratulations, Aaeru!" Andrea says positively.
[22:09] <Aaeru> "Ahh... please let me pick something useful for everyone!" Aaeru says, closing her eyes and pointing up at the central box.
[22:12] <Kotono> The other two boxes vanish, as the center one opens! Within is a pretty headband, pure white cloth.
[22:12] <Andria> "Oh that looks cute! Well, it's my turn again..." Andrea says as she shakes the dice and rolls. "Come on, something lucky!"
[22:13] * Aaeru opens her left eye a bit, peeking.
[22:13] <Andria> roll 2d6
[22:13] * Hatbot --> "Andria rolls 2d6 and gets 5." [2d6=4, 1]
[22:13] <Kotono> Andrea rolls, rollingand rolling to the 32nd square! LIke Janson before her, nothing happens on it! OOC: Wayland.
[22:14] * Andria is now known as Merc-school
[22:14] <Janson> "Together again!" Janson grins widely at Andrea.
[22:14] <Janson> OOC: strike
[22:16] <Wayland> "Nice headband, Aaeru!" Wayland picks up the dice and rolls them.
[22:16] <Wayland> roll 2d6
[22:16] * Hatbot --> "Wayland rolls 2d6 and gets 6." [2d6=5, 1]
[22:16] <Aaeru> "It is very clean," Aaeru says in approval.
[22:17] <Kotono> To the 40th square Wayland bravely advances! Echoing around them is two words, "HEROIC BATTLE!" as Wayland vanishes!

[20:17] <Kotono> All aboutWayland are ruins. Crumbled pillars and a broken roof are above, the ground littered with old debris. One barely has a chance to look about, for at thirty feet away it hefts it's heavy greataxe towards you! It is a muscular humanoid the size of transformed Aaeru, with a bull's head.  IT has long horns atop it's head, it's feet cloven as well. It slams it's hoof on the ground once,
[20:17] <Kotono> before charging Wayland! OOC: Init.
[20:18] <Wayland> roll 1d20+3
[20:18] * Hatbot --> "Wayland rolls 1d20+3 and gets 19." [1d20=16]
[20:18] <Kotono> roll 1d20
[20:18] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20 and gets 8." [1d20=8]
[20:18] * Kotono changes topic to 'Wayland(19)>Minotaur(8)'
[20:18] <Kotono> OOC: Open.
[20:21] <Wayland> "Hmm." Wayland mumbles to himself, focusing inward as a thin barrier forms around him. OOC: Inertial armor
[20:21] <Kotono> As Wayland draws protection into himself, the great, hulking bull-beast lowers it's head and slams it's hoof down! A moment later it charges like lightning at him, ready to skewer him through!
[20:21] <Kotono> roll 1d20+11 (+2 charge)
[20:21] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20+11 (+2 charge) and gets 28." [1d20=17]
[20:21] <Kotono> OOC: AC?
[20:22] <Wayland> OOC: 21
[20:22] <Kotono> roll 4d6+6
[20:22] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 4d6+6 and gets 17." [4d6=2, 4, 1, 4]
[20:23] <Kotono> The charge catches Wayland before he can act, the huge, bulky beast hurtling itself at him! It gets him in the side of the chest, ripping from pectoral to back open in a long, but ultimately grazing wound! OOC: Go.
[20:24] * Wayland winces in pain, but regroups and hurls himself at the minotaur, fists whirling and the sound of whipping wind filling the air!
[20:25] <Wayland> roll 1d20+6
[20:25] <Wayland> roll 1d20+6
[20:25] * Hatbot --> "Wayland rolls 1d20+6 and gets 11." [1d20=5]
[20:25] * Hatbot --> "Wayland rolls 1d20+6 and gets 15." [1d20=9]
[20:25] <Kotono> OOC: One hit.
[20:26] <Wayland> roll 1d8+3+1d6
[20:26] * Hatbot --> "Wayland rolls 1d8+3+1d6 and gets 9." [1d8=1][1d6=5]
[20:26] <Kotono> Wayland flurries forth, sending a rain of electric blows to the minotaur! While it parries one, the second catches it in the stomach! It makes the great beast snort in anger, raising it's axe up in an exaggerated, powerful deathblow!
[20:27] <Kotono> roll 1d20+4 (-5 PA, going for the da deathblow)
[20:27] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20+4 (-5 PA, going for the da deathblow) and gets 6." [1d20=2]
[20:27] <Kotono> roll 1d20-1 (-5 PA, going for the da deathblow)
[20:27] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20-1 (-5 PA, going for the da deathblow) and gets 11." [1d20=12]
[20:28] <Kotono> Wayland rolls with the attack, springing back up as the second blow glances off his inertial armor! OOC: Go.
[20:30] <Wayland> Sensing a weakness in the overextended beast, Wayland moves to deliver a powerful blow!
[20:30] <Wayland> roll 1d20+8
[20:30] * Hatbot --> "Wayland rolls 1d20+8 and gets 10." [1d20=2]
[20:34] <Kotono> Wayland winds back and sends a massive swing it's way, but it's axe shaft comes down to block it! A second later it draws back up, quicker and less exaggerated strikes coming!
[20:34] <Kotono> roll 1d20+9
[20:34] <Kotono> roll 1d20+4
[20:34] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20+9 and gets 12." [1d20=3]
[20:34] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20+4 and gets 9." [1d20=5]
[20:35] <Kotono> But both blows are still telegraphed, letting Wayland swerve around them like smoke! OOC: You're up, it whiffed. Go.
[20:36] * Wayland feints left and swings from the right!
[20:36] <Wayland> roll 1d20+8
[20:36] * Hatbot --> "Wayland rolls 1d20+8 and gets 26." [1d20=18]
[20:37] <Kotono> OOC: That be a hit.
[20:37] <Wayland> roll 1d8+3+1d6
[20:37] * Hatbot --> "Wayland rolls 1d8+3+1d6 and gets 6." [1d8=2][1d6=1]
[20:37] <Kotono> Wham! A direct connection in it's arm, making the minotaur roll with it! It steps back a moment to regroup, bringing it's axe back around in two revengeful strikes!
[20:38] <Kotono> roll 1d20+9
[20:38] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20+9 and gets 19." [1d20=10]
[20:38] <Kotono> roll 1d20+4
[20:38] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20+4 and gets 5." [1d20=1]
[20:38] <Kotono> The first blow goes right for Wayland's chest, but it pushed away with a rush of energy at the last second! It ruins his second swing as well, the minotaur's axe sent up over it's head, as the beast wobbles to recover! OOC: Go.
[20:39] <Wayland> As the beast wobbles, Wayland moves in for a series of punishing strikes!
[20:39] <Wayland> roll 1d20+6
[20:39] <Wayland> roll 1d20+6
[20:39] * Hatbot --> "Wayland rolls 1d20+6 and gets 19." [1d20=13]
[20:39] * Hatbot --> "Wayland rolls 1d20+6 and gets 24." [1d20=18]
[20:40] <Kotono> OOC: TWo hits.
[20:40] <Wayland> roll 1d8+3+1d6
[20:40] <Wayland> roll 1d8+3+1d6
[20:40] * Hatbot --> "Wayland rolls 1d8+3+1d6 and gets 13." [1d8=8][1d6=2]
[20:40] * Hatbot --> "Wayland rolls 1d8+3+1d6 and gets 13." [1d8=4][1d6=6]
[20:41] <Kotono> With that quick, potent rain of blows the minotaur is knocked to it's knees! It's axe falls from it's grip as it tries to lunge with it's horns at Wayland's chest, but it instead falls to the side and down! With at titanic THUMP it hits the ground, as....OOC: #dunes.

[20:18] <Kotono> In the board you can see the battle - a ruin, with Wayland before a tall, bullheaded humanoid with a big axe!
[20:19] * Aaeru raptly watches what no doubt will be a heroic clash!
[20:19] <Janson> "Hope he doesn't try a headbutt," Janson comments as he watches.
[20:20] <Kotono> "With those horns, that would be bad," Simmer agrees as she leans back to watch, "For that matter, I hope I don't draw that square."
[20:21] <Aaeru> "But... you have fire," Aaeru says in confusion. "Why not?"
[20:22] <Janson> "Speaking of," Janson rummages in his backpack a moment before handing Simmer two small glass jars, "If you land on a square with something you can't burn with fire, burn them with acid!"
[20:22] <Aaeru> "But only if they are bad!" Aaeru instantly adds.
[20:23] <Kotono> Meanwhile Wayland draws energy and protection to himself, while seconds later the minotaur charges! It gets Wayland across the side, opening a shallow but long gash!
[20:23] <Kotono> "Thanks," Simmer takes them, "I think since they have a perfect record in trying to kill us, they all get to burn."
[20:24] <Janson> "Yeah," Janson agrees with that sentiment, returning his attention to the game. "Solid hit there... time for Wayland to unleash the fury!"
[20:27] <Kotono> The two trade blows back and forth! Wayland lands one in it's stomach, while the minotaur tries a massive strike from above that Wayland is able to roll out of!
[20:28] <Janson> "They're really going at it! It's a lot different than watching Aaeru fight, isn't it?"
[20:29] <Kotono> "It's like two mountains of muscle standing there and trading punches," Simmer observes, "Not nearly so wrestling oriented as Aaeru."
[20:29] <Kotono> "I hope he can end it quickly," Lady Moongal frowns, "Minotaurs do not give up easily in close combat. IT's best to defeat them from afar, or to avoid battling them if possible."
[20:30] <Janson> "Yeah, I'd be running away if it was me," Janson agrees. "Lots of cover around, so it's better than that plain Aaeru fought the boar on. Harder for it to charge over debris, too."
[20:32] <Aaeru> "I can punch someone next time if it's more heroic," Aaeru offers, distracted from Wayland's battle by the conversation. "But it might hurt them more. Should I?"
[20:33] <Janson> "Nah. You're unbeatable when you crush someone like that, so why mess with a winning formula?"
[20:36] <Kotono> Back and forth they fight, neither landing a decisive blow yet! Parries and dodges occupy the battle, Dacote leaning to take a good eye at him, "If it works, don't mess with it," he does agree.
[20:39] <Kotono> "This one's going on quite a while," Lady Moongal murmurs, "Dear Wayland does seem to be an even match for a minotaur, to the point that neither of them can resolve an easy victory." Meanwhile Wayland lands another blow, the minotaur narrowly missing seconds after as his blade is deflected away!
[20:39] <Andria> "Well the square did say it was a heroic battle, not an easy one..."
[20:40] * Janson looks at Aaeru and mouths 'dear?'
[20:41] <Kotono> With a surge Wayland propels forward, raining blows all over the minotaur! It collapses, and a moment later Wayland is back!
[20:41] <Wayland> "HA!" Wayland pumps his fist in the air before wincing and grabbing his side.
[20:42] <Janson> "Hey, welcome back, Wayland!" Janson grins. "You two were really going at it, weren't you?"
[20:42] * Aaeru shrugs at Janson, looking quite clueless. 'News to me,' she mouths back.
[20:42] <Kotono> "Ah!" Lady Moongal claps her hands together, "You defeated a minotaur in hand to hand combat!  Not a trifling task at all, and you only have a serious wound, instead of a mortal one."
[20:42] <Wayland> "He was tough." Wayland nods.
[20:44] <Kotono> Simmer takes the dice, "I'm up. Are you going to do anything to help Wayland before I roll?"
[20:45] <Janson> Other than moral support there's not much Janson can help with!
[20:48] <Andria> Andrea concentrates at this time, since a fair number are injured, and channels the remaining positive energy in bursts to heal them as a group.
[20:48] <Andria> roll d6 turn 5
[20:48] * Hatbot --> "Andria rolls d6 turn 5 and gets 1." [d6=1]
[20:48] <Andria> roll d6 turn 6
[20:48] * Hatbot --> "Andria rolls d6 turn 6 and gets 2." [d6=2]
[20:48] <Andria> roll d6 turn 7
[20:48] * Hatbot --> "Andria rolls d6 turn 7 and gets 6." [d6=6]
[20:48] <Kotono> Wounds heal moderately in that light, restoring vitality to all!
[20:49] * Aaeru just stands there looking sorry for Wayland and offering moral support.
[20:49] <Andria> "I still have a little bit left, but I'm going to save it for now and see if anybody else gets injured badly before your turn comes up again," Andrea says apologetically to Wayland for not healing him up more.
[20:49] <Kotono> At this Simmer nods, tossing the dice!
[20:49] <Kotono> roll 2d6
[20:49] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 2d6 and gets 10." [2d6=4, 6]
[20:50] * Wayland nods. "No problem."
[20:50] <Kotono> Simmer advances ten squares to 28! Nothing happens!
[20:51] <Janson> "Hope I get something fun," Janson remarks as he takes the dice and rolls them across the board!
[20:51] <Janson> roll 2d6
[20:51] * Hatbot --> "Janson rolls 2d6 and gets 6." [2d6=3, 3]
[20:52] <Andria> "Doubles! You could possibly win this turn, Janson!" Andrea says excitedly. "Good luck!"
[20:54] <Kotono> Janson rolls! He goes to the 41st square, gold text reading TREASURE SQUARE appearing! Again three treasure boxes appear, with a voice demanding, "Choose your destiny..."
[20:54] <Janson> "Jannath... again?" Janson picks the left box without hesitating this time.
[20:54] <Andria> "You're complaining about treasure?" Andrea asks. "What, you wanted a fight too?"
[20:55] <Kotono> In this one is a corked bottle, a reddish fluid within! THen a voice demands, "DOUBLES, ROLL AGAIN!"
[20:55] <Andria> "You're the only one who hasn't gotten one, actually, come to think of it..."
[20:56] <Janson> "It's less a complaint and more just surprise, but yeah I wouldn't mind getting to do something exciting," Janson remarks, catching the bottle in one hand and picking up the dice with the other. "Still, nine or more wins the game..." he smiles and tosses them.
[20:56] <Janson> roll 2d6
[20:56] * Hatbot --> "Janson rolls 2d6 and gets 2." [2d6=1, 1]
[20:56] <Andria> "Well...it's another double, so you could sitll win?" Andrea says.
[20:57] <Kotono> Doubles again! Janson moves to the 43rd square as the red light around his figurine turns to a larger, blue aura! Above the square reads DANGER SQUARE! as a moment later Janson vanishes! (Evil.)
