I Put On My Robe And Wizard Hat (Fate/Stay Night)

This is the second of the three stories I've written up, and the one that gives me the most trouble of the lot. It's hard balancing humor and seriousness. Really hard.

My update schedule on this one is typically one chapter a day too.

The idea behind this story is that Shirou Emiya (or Emiya Shirou) was never taken in by Kiritsugu Emiya. The divergence happened back in the Fourth War where Irisviel had a crisis of conscious and told Saber about her deteriorating condition really early on.

This basically forced Kiri and Maiya to be way more defensive.

Also less dickish.

Ultimately this winds up preventing the Fuyuki Fire. This massive butterfly caused Shirou to be raised like a normal kid. Unfortunately normal doesn't mean happy...

Shirou has a shitty life, and his only escape is the Internet now. However, destiny still works in mysterious ways, and he wound up befriending Ilyasviel von Einzbern nee Emiya (god, that's a long name). This happened in the aftermath of Kiritsugu going papa bear and kicking the asses of the Einzbern family to free his daughter, since he never was hit with the Grail Corruption in the final battle.

So, now we have a genre savvy/meme using Archer from the future running around in the present and odd man out Shirou Urobuchi.

Can he save the day? Who knows.

At least he can try it for the lawls.

Fate/Stay Night, eh?

Still scares me.  I asked Drac about it, and he probably explained it clearly once, but my mortal mind could not contain all of the confusion that is WHOAMG,SOMANYCONTINUTIES/PATHS!!!

Is there a standard entrypoint into this?  I understand that (urg) this is part of the Nasuverse (Tsukihime, etc.), so I know the most accessible (read: not an obscure fantranslated game that I can't run because I don't use Windows), bits of media.  Mostly anime.

How can I learn the story that your fic is based on?

To follow the fic,  I'd watch the Fate/Stay Night anime series.  It's 26 eps I think.

My personal preference is really more toward Garden of Sinners, which can be experienced as a series of OAV movies.  Perhaps a good movie night deal :P

I'm actually going to explain a lot of the Nasuisms in the story itself. Like, how magic works and whatnot. I'd really recommend going with the visual novel itself. If you want, I can fire it over to you.

I finished I Put On My Robe And Wizard Hat. A sequel is now in the planning stages. I don't know if anyone here followed the series, but I hope they enjoyed it.
