Side-Story: An Interview with Enro-san

May 24 20:09:45 <Aisutori>   After school, one fine friday, Aisutori made her way into Enro's last class, heading over toward him without much fanfare, ignoring as before that she was drawing eyes over his way.  "Enro-san, are you busy this afternoon?"
May 24 20:10:17 *   Enro looks up from his desk, eyes half-lidded.
May 24 20:10:47 <Enro>   "Uh, sure. Wasn't going to do anything other than wander around town, really. What do you need help with?"
May 24 20:14:03 <Aisutori>   "We'll talk about it outside," She glanced briefly around, pulling at his hand.  "Just come with me alright?  It's nothing serious," She smiled warmly.
May 24 20:15:05 *   Enro glances around at his now staring classmates a bit more alert, waking up from the droning of class.
May 24 20:15:32 <Enro>   "Uh, alright. Give me a second to finish packing up."
May 24 20:20:03 <Aisutori>   "Sure, sure," She hummed a tune, leaning against the side of the wall and waving to one of her band members as they wandered out.
May 24 20:20:57 *   Enro finishes putting his things in his pack and heads over to Aisutori, ready to follow her out.
May 24 20:28:10 *   Aisutori smiles, taking his hand and leading him out of the classroom, and further out of the school, continuing to hum along.  It wasn't until they were well and far away, heading along a park route that she gazed at him consideringly.  "Hey Enro, your parents don't have your power, do they?"
May 24 20:30:10 <Enro>   "Uh, no they don't. As far as I know, no one in the family has ever had anything.. Unusual about them. They looked in the family records after mine showed up."
May 24 20:31:21 <Aisutori>   "Who did?" She wondered, walking along beside him under the trees, it quite peacefully quiet here.  She might've been waiting to ask until nobody was around.
May 24 20:32:46 <Enro>   "My mother and father. They wanted an explanation. When they couldn't find one, they were.. Disappointed. Kind of like I suddenly had a disfigurement or something. They still take care of me and love me, they just.. don't know how to deal with it."
May 24 20:36:34 <Aisutori>   "What...really?" She turned, staring at him, "That's terrible.  Even my parents aren't that bad.  Busy, but still..."
May 24 20:36:51 *   Enro shrugs.
May 24 20:38:38 <Enro>   "They're tolerant of it, so long as it's not.. pointed out. I have a tendency to do it reflexively, though. Instead of walking across the room at home, I'll teleport mid-step. They couldn't handle it when it was so.. in their face like that. So, they let me move into a small home they own as a rental property."
May 24 20:43:42 <Aisutori>   "Mmm, Have you practiced a lot with your teleporting?" She wondered curiously, not being too clear on just where she was going with this.
May 24 20:45:10 <Enro>   "At first, kind of. It wasn't so much practice as it was just getting used to the feeling and reorienting myself. Actually doing it.. It feels as natural as walking or breathing to me, after the first few times. Why?"
May 24 20:49:02 <Aisutori>   "Well, the Leviathan's voices are really powerful monsters, right?  Kawazam kept us all on the ropes just by himself.  And so I was thinking, we can't just be standing still to wait.  It's not enough just to practice.  When you're dealing with creatures of legend, it's every bit as important that you understand the fear brought about by your own.  Even for a new one like yours," She nodded.  "Without any family to lead you, you probably never heard that, no?"
May 24 20:51:38 <Enro>   "Fear? It's not a matter of fear, I think. It's just something that I do. Like breathing. They couldn't find any record or mention of it, either, so I don't think it's anything out of legend, either."
May 24 20:56:08 <Aisutori>   "No, not being afraid of it.  It's kind of a strange word, but Grandma Tsurara always used it.  When humans fight, they fight with swords or guns, physical things generally.  When monsters fight, they do the same, but they also fight with their powers, the overwhelming monsterous presence of the myth they belong with.  It's generally called the Fear they give others.  For you, the very basis would be..."  She tapped her chin.  "A man who is Everywhere and Nowhere."
May 24 20:58:00 <Enro>   "Eh? That seems kind of.. Vague. A bit worrying, I suppose, but not really intimidating."
May 24 21:05:40 <Aisutori>   "Well, mmm...maybe it is anyway?  It could be a pretty scary story.  After all, you could just teleport into a person's house and kill them if you wanted to.  Then vanish right away.  I heard that the head monster who protects tokyo is a Monster who sneaks into people's houses unseen.  And they've never lost in hundreds of years.  It can sort of be like momentum... like, if you take a schoolkid and a soldier and they fought, who woul

May 24 21:08:52 <Enro>   "Hmm.. I suppose. I can teleport people against their will, too. I suppose it'd be pretty frightening for any monster to suddenly be tens of thousands of feet in the air."
May 24 21:14:17 <Aisutori>   "It's momentum," She suddenly thrust her hand toward his face, an icy spike gathering in it as it stopped right before his eye.  "If you're caught in the fear of the unknown capabilities of your opponent, you can't fight well.  If you fight simply, it's easy to understand and not very frightening.  So I was thinking...we should find out the depths of our power, so that next time we can fight with all our strength and not be caught so
May 24 21:14:17 <Aisutori>    much in their flow.  We should be able to do it...My family is a very old myth.  I think Noriko's myth is old too, even if she's really modern.  And yours is a myth nobody knows, but that can be a strength too."
May 24 21:25:16 <Enro>   "Huh. Okay, so what do you suggest?"
May 24 21:30:35 <Aisutori>   "Well, I don't know quite yet... but I'm sure there's something to be found in it.  So far you've been moving around yourself.  Move so I can't be found.  Move so I hit hard.  Move so I'm over there?"  She wondered aloud.  "Going with A Man Who's Everywhere and Nowhere...could you teleport to be in two places at once?  Could you shoot a monster from several sides at once, so its hard to dodge?  Or shoot and teleport the bullet so it
May 24 21:30:35 <Aisutori>   hits them even if they dodged it?  You don't have a myth to live up to, so it'd be up to you to see where your powers could be...Teleporting could be a Man who controls where everything is, switching places with enemies, or teleporting weapons right out of their hands?"

May 24 21:33:36 <Enro>   "I.. Might be able to do some of that. Being in two places at once.. Is impossible. But I might be able to teleport fast enough to make it *seem* like it. I've been trying to teleport individual objects also, but I have to be touching them for it. So far, at least. It's.. a matter of perception, sort of. It's hard to explain."
May 24 21:35:12 <Enro>   "I don't just look at the world with my eyes.. I.. *feel* everything. Like.. My senses are a blanket that extends out.. I can feel whatever it is in that radius, up to a certain speed. But I use my own energy to make the teleport.. I haven't been able to pass that on without physical contact."
May 24 21:37:56 <Aisutori>   "Can you switch spots with me?" She wondered, quirking her head.
May 24 21:39:47 <Enro>   "Hmm.. Sort of. I'd have to work on the speed of it, but I can teleport you near to where I am, and then teleport myself to where you were. I might be able to do it fast enough to make it seem like we switched places. But, again, the physical contact part means it would only be an arm's length change."
May 24 21:44:52 <Aisutori>   "Hmm, well, something to think on anyway..." Aisutori smiled.  "I'm going to talk to Noriko-chan about this too, but I'll also ask Grandma if she's ever heard of any teleporters.  I haven't, but maybe there were others like you a long long time ago."
May 24 21:45:15 *   Enro shrugs.
May 24 21:45:46 <Enro>   "Why the interest, anyway? Besides working better towards not getting beaten every time we turn around."
May 24 21:47:23 <Aisutori>   "Because it's important.  It's like not knowing your own last name," She pouted at the question.
