[19:48] <Kotono> Muirfinn's day is unremarkable. A bit of helping out with repairs, a bit of study, a bit of casual checking up on the tortles. As he finishes up with the last, Elena appears before him. "Oh, Muirfinn," she begins right off, "I have a message for you."
[19:52] * Muirfinn blinks. "Ah, Elena. Hello. What is it?"
[19:53] <Kotono> "You're fairly well read and smart, aren't you?" Elena asks, right away.
[19:55] <Muirfinn> "I make do with what I have." Muirfinn says. "How can I help?"
[19:57] <Kotono> "Oh. El-er, Magi Tepen," Elena smiles at herself a moment, shaking her head. "Magi Tepen and Sage Vul'lath are organizing a lore contest. It's to test your knowledge of lore and learn lore from others; the winner gets a magical item that Sage Vul'lath is supplying."
[19:58] <Muirfinn> "Oh. That sounds fun, actually. Where can I find them?"
[19:59] <Kotono> "The library. Those two are playing, as are Sylvie and Kascha. You're welcome to invite anyone else who may be well read enough to compete." Elena says, "It starts in a few hours."
[20:02] <Muirfinn> "I see. I may invite Elder Kole as well. Have you asked Afina, Ithea, or Jaela?"
[20:06] <Kotono> "I checked on Ithea, but she's taking a catnap," Giggling under her breath, "I heard that the pixies are holding court today, so I think Afina's busy."
[20:08] <Muirfinn> "I can ask JAela for you, if you like."
[20:12] <Kotono> "Thanks!" Elena smiles warmly, vanishing.
[20:13] * Muirfinn heads to let Elder Kole know first, since he's already there.
[20:14] <Kotono> Elder Kole is found before a pair of tortles, the two pointing at one another. "Peace," The elder murmurs, "This is no great offense, nor was any harm meant."
[20:16] <Muirfinn> Heading up to the group with great calm borne only from seeing this happen a thousand times, Muirfinn approaches the group. "Greetings, Elder Kole. What seems to be the trouble?"
[20:20] <Kotono> "A disagreement," he says with an easy patience, "One that is ending now," he gives both tortles a stern look.
[20:25] <Muirfinn> "I see." He says, "If you have a mement free, then, I'd like to speak with you."
[20:28] <Kotono> The two tortles glare at each other but depart, the Elder shaking his head once they're gone. "Speak," he says, "I only hope to Father Earth that it's not another argument. Settling in is allowing chances for grudges to erupt."
[20:30] <Muirfinn> "No, no, I wanted to invite you to a gathering of minds. I understand that two of the sages here on the Aurora are holding a contest of lore. I thought you might wish to join in the fun. There is rumor of a fantastic magical prize." Muirfinn offers.
[20:37] <Kotono> "Lore and a prize? It sounds worthy of our time," Elder Kole says, "I am curious enough now."
[20:38] <Muirfinn> "Hopefully the other elders can keep our people from destroying each other in the mean time." Muirfinn jokes.
[20:51] <Kotono> "By Father Earth, yes," Elder Kole cracks a smile, as...
<Steph> I might have made a terrible mistake

[21:02] <Kotono> "Yes." Hanna joins in that laugh further, smiling warmly. "I had that happen once on a mission - I had to use this old dr-" As you head to the portal, someone comes out before you can reach it. It is Muirfinn and another tortle, appearing before Jaela.
[21:03] <Jaela> "Old what? C'mon, this is the best part!"
[21:09] <Muirfinn> "Ah, there you are Jaela. Elena came to me and told me of a lore competition tat Vul'lath and Tepen are holding. Elder Kole and I are going to join it. Would you like to accompany us?" He looks over to Hanna. "You of course are welcome as well, Hanna."
[21:10] <Jaela> "A competition? What, like who knows the most obscure shit, stuff like that?"
[21:10] * Muirfinn shrugs. "I don't know the details yet."
[21:12] <Jaela> "We kinda have things to chat over with Dana," Jaela tells him apologetically. "Maybe another time?"
[21:12] <Kotono> Hanna hums, "That could be fun. You have to exercise the mind as well as the body." Tilting her head back and forth for a moment, "If I have time after this I may look in."
[21:12] * Muirfinn nods. "Feel free to join us after you are done."
[21:13] <Muirfinn> With that, Muirfinn heads back through the portal!
<Steph> I might have made a terrible mistake

[21:17] <Kotono> From there, a trip to the library is without incident. You find several there. Tepen is setting up a circle of chairs around a small table. Sage Vul'lath sits in one seat, reading a tome. Sylvie is there as well, next to Kascha as the two talk in low tones about something.
[21:22] <Muirfinn> "Ah, here we are." Muirfinn says as he the Elder a seat, then one for himself. "How will this contest work?"
[21:26] <Kotono> Tepen rises, "We have a few minutes more before we begin. Make yourselves comfortable, I'll explain the rules once we begin."
[21:27] * Muirfinn nods, looking around at the library and the others there.
[21:32] <Kotono> Sylvie looks back as you do, leaving Kascha behind. "Hi, Muirfinn?" She smiles nicely, "I wanted to thank you for the books! How did you know?"
[21:35] <Muirfinn> "I've seen you in here more often than anywhere else, and I think I heard Ithea mention your studies once." Muirfinn replies. "It's the least I could do for the help you gave me for helping to craft some items."
[21:36] <Kotono> "You're welcome," Sylvie's all smiles, "Good luck here, alright?"
[21:36] <Muirfinn> "You too."
<Steph> I might have made a terrible mistake

[20:16] <Kotono> After a little bit, Elder Magi Tepen clears his throat, "We'll begin now," he announces, going around and passing out paper, ink and quill. "We'll start with an easy one for everyone. List the Lords of the Nine," he says, "The nine rulers of Hell."
[20:19] <Kotono> The others begin to write at that prompt, Sage Vul'lath nodding a little bit, "An entirely simple question," he agrees.
[20:28] * Muirfinn can do that, and does so easily!
[20:30] <Kotono> OOC: List them so I know OOC what you put?
[20:32] * Muirfinn lists Asmodeus, Mephistopheles, Baalzebul, Glasya, Levistus, Fierna/Belial, Mammon, Dipater, and finally Bel with particular agression.
[20:34] <Kotono> The papers are collected, Tepen nodding as he reads each one. "Bel, Dispater, Mammon, Fierna and Belial, Levistus, Glasya, Baalzebub, Mephistopheles and Asmodeus." Cracking a smile, "I would worry for our Crusade if we didn't know the leaders of our enemies." A bit of laughter follows, "That was just the warm up. I'll explain the rules now, if there's no objections?"
[20:43] <Kotono> No objections come. "We'll go around in the following order - myself, Vul'lath, Sylvie, Muirfinn and Kole. Each go around covers a particular type of lore from a set of questions I've prepared. Whomever has the most points wins the prize, though all of us are richer for expanding our knowledge of lores. Any questions?"
[20:45] * Muirfinn shakes his head.
[20:49] <Kotono> Another round of shakes follow that. Tepen nods and takes out a sheet of parchment, "The first round is Lore of the Natural World. This includes animals, nature, plants, fey and other connected things. In some traditions this includes elves, though in this case it won't." Looking ot Sage Vul'lath, "Cruel spirits of winter and nature, these fey desire to freeze everything forever. They have
[20:49] <Kotono> a touch of ice and a voice that can captivate other creatures."
[20:49] <Kotono> roll 1d20+23 academic lore
[20:49] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20+23 academic lore and gets 34." [1d20=11]
[20:50] <Kotono> Syvlie smiles a bit, "Know that one," she murmurs, as Elder Kole hums a moment. Sage Vul'lath furrows his brow for several moments, "Frostwind Virago." He announces it calmly, "Even getting close to one can freeze a mind and send you to incoherent reeling."
[20:52] <Kotono> "Correct," Tepen smiles a moment, "One point for Vul'lath. Did all of you know that one?"
[20:53] <Kotono> "I did," Sylvie speaks up, Elder Kole nodding as well. "That I did. I met one in my youth. I had a coating of ice on my shell for weeks afterwards, she was so cold."
[20:53] * Muirfinn nods at Elder Kole. "He's shared that story more than once."
[20:54] <Kotono> "I've heard a few stories of gith raiders in the mortal realms having the same problems - mostly of sole survivors or recovery stories. They're not to be lightly crossed." Vul'lath adds.
[20:55] <Kotono> Smiling a moment, "Sylvie's next." Said blonde glances at Kole a moment but says nothing, instead listening. "What is the maximum range that a treant can animate trees at?"
[20:57] <Kotono> roll 1d20+36 KN
[20:57] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20+36 KN and gets 37." [1d20=1]
[20:59] <Kotono> "Um." Sylvie closes her eyes a moment, frowning, "It's a hundred something. A hundred twenty? No, that's too short? A hundred sixty? ...no, I think it's one hundred eighty feet. I know it's not one ninety or two hundred. I remember it was past one fifty, and it's not higher than one eighty, and it's not one sixty," Murmuring all this, "One hundred eighty feet." she concludes."
[21:00] * Muirfinn nods. "Indeed."
[21:01] <Kotono> "Correct," Tepen smiles again, "One hundred and eighty feet. If you battle a treant, doing so from long range is advised so you aren't overwhelmed by animated trees. Fireballs in particular are highly effective." Sylvie exhales as Tepen turns to Muirfinn, "What environment are Shambling Mounds native to?" OOC: You're allowed a relevant skill check if you like.
[21:04] * Muirfinn taps the end of his beak-like mouth for a moment before answering, "I believe they are found most commonly in temperate marshes. The warmth agrees with them."
[21:06] <Kotono> "Correct," Smiling a moment to Muirfinn, "They like warmth and moisture, and have a particular fondness for electricity. I've heard of nests of them that attract Shocker Lizards in a symbiotic relationship."
[21:06] <Kotono> Sylvie shudders, but adds nothing audible to that.
[21:07] * Muirfinn snorts. "Shocker lizards."
[21:09] <Kotono> "Vermin," Sylvie says, "Nothing but vermin. My homeland has a problem with them in the mountains. Thousands of them erupt out every few years and it's a huge battle to slaughter them."
[21:10] <Muirfinn> "Ah...my people tend to hunt them for food and sport. We've never had large numbers come at us like that though."
[21:10] <Kotono> "I've never heard of that massive a number of them," Tepen frowns, "A curiosity. Elder Kole, what is the wingspan of a giant eagle?"
[21:10] <Kotono> roll 1d20+24
[21:10] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20+24 and gets 34." [1d20=10]
[21:11] <Kotono> "Seven feet," he replies, "I remember that one summer we had a nest near my home. Never seen so many so close - beautiful birds, but dumb as the rocks."
[21:14] <Kotono>  "Correct," Tepen supplies, "Everyone got their question right." He smiles, "The prize isn't going to be easily won. The next category is Slaad Lore." He pauses a moment, "If you're familiar with General Ithea's pet, that's one of the slaad. They're normally more frog-like and reside in Limbo. Sage Vul'lath: How much is a single egg from a death slaad worth, on average?"
[21:14] <Kotono> roll 1d20+32 planes
[21:14] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20+32 planes and gets 42." [1d20=10]
[21:15] <Kotono> "Obscure," Sage Vul'lath observes coolly, "But the answer is 3,000 gold. They are particularly valued in making lawful bane weapons or objects that provide magic cicles of protection against law."
[21:16] <Kotono> "Correct!" Tepen shakes his head a moment, "I expected that question to be a stumper."
[21:17] <Kotono> "I'm more disturbed that people harvest slaad eggs," Sylvie pauses to shudder entirely, "I've met slaad. Who wants anything to do with them? It's like arguing with a psychotic, genius child."
[21:17] <Muirfinn> Thinking back to his few interactions with 27, Muirfinn can't help but agree.
[21:18] <Kotono> "That," Sage Vul'lath retorts, "Is the appeal. If one can prise knowledge from the random madness, great gains can be made." He pauses a moment, "In our more reflective movements, the githyanki speculate that the githzerai have learned such secrets from the slaad, as they reside in monasteries and cities in Limbo."
[21:21] <Kotono> "Madmen or desperation?" Sylvie wonders aloud, as Tepen turns to her, "This monastery in Limbo was established by a white slaad for 'insane' slaad; imprisoning them within. What is its name?"
[21:21] <Kotono> roll 1d20+36
[21:21] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20+36 and gets 46." [1d20=10]
[21:21] <Kotono> "That," Sage Vul'lath adds, "Is admirable amounts of insanity and madness."
[21:23] * Muirfinn nods in wonderment.
[21:23] <Kotono> Sylvie's face goes slack as she closes her eyes, "I remember the book I read it in. Abvana's Home of the Ill. A group of adventurers heard of treasure from the imprisoned slaads within and attempted to attack it. They failed, save for one survivor who was utterly insane."
[21:24] <Kotono> Tepen blinks again, "..correct," he admits, scratching at his chin as he looks down at the questions, "I clearly underestimated the skill and depth of the lore known thus far."
[21:27] <Kotono> Shaking his head and going to Muirfinn, "Alright.  Muirfinn, name three slaad lords and what they represent."
[21:27] <Muirfinn> roll 1d20+19 KP for who the fuck knows. I know Renbuu. That's it.
[21:27] * Hatbot --> "Muirfinn rolls 1d20+19 KP for who the fuck knows. I know Renbuu. That's it. and gets 34." [1d20=15]
[21:30] <Muirfinn> "Renbuu, Slaad Lord of Color. Ssendam, Slaad Lord of Insanity. Ygorl, Slaad Lord of Entropy. And just in case one of those is wrong, Chourst, Slaad Lord of Randomness." Muirfinn answers after thinking hard for a good minute.
[21:30] <Kotono> "Correct." Shaking his head again and laughing, a helpless little sound, "I'm more than impressed now."
[21:32] <Kotono> "The slaad lords. Utter madness," Vul'lath sniffs, "Though there is some reliable lore about them. I know Renbuu and his color terrifies Ygorl and Ssendam, and that Ygorl supports Chourst whenever possible."
[21:32] <Kotono> "As reliable as anything about slaad is," Sylvie retorts, "I've heard the lesser lords shift erattically, and that powerful slaad can become lords temporarily at the whim of Limbo."
[21:33] <Muirfinn> "...much rather be an anthropomorphic tortoise."
[21:35] <Kotono> "Our lot is far better than the slaad," Elder Kole agrees.
[21:35] * Muirfinn nods.
[21:36] <Kotono> Turning to Elder Kole, "Which type of slaad sometimes grows ten tails as they advance without changing color or form?"
[21:36] <Kotono> roll 1d20+24
[21:36] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20+24 and gets 34." [1d20=10]
[21:36] <Kotono> "I..." Elder Kole shakes his head, "Hav eno idea whatsoever. I've never met a slaad in my life."
[21:37] <Kotono> "Death slaad. Several powerful death slaad have been observed to grow ten tails. The reasoning and purpose of these tails is unclear. Such slaad are rarely recorded, as even seeing one may bring immediate madness."
[21:37] <Kotono> "I'd say that doesn't make sense, but slaad," Sylvie adds. "Yuck."
[21:43] <Kotono> "Indeed. Onto more pleasant subjects," Elder Magi Tepen continues, "Geography of the Planes is next, with everyone having two points, except for Elder Kole, who has one." To Sage Vul'lath, "This layer of a Lower Plane is known for its bitter cold that can freeze a man solid in seconds and is teeming with an appropriate named type of outsider. Name it."
[21:44] <Kotono> roll 1d20+32
[21:44] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20+32 and gets 46." [1d20=14]
[21:44] <Kotono> "Cania and Ice Devils," Vul'lath replies, "The Eighth layer of Baator."
[21:44] * Muirfinn nods. "Knew that one."
[21:45] <Kotono> "Correct," Tepen nods, "Another poitn to you, that one wasn't too hard. Now Sylvie," Looking to her, "This burning city shares a name with a type of dragon. Name it."
[21:45] <Kotono> roll 1d20+36
[21:45] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20+36 and gets 39." [1d20=3]
[21:45] <Kotono> "Another easy one," Sylvie nods, "City of Brass and Brass Dragons."
[21:48] <Kotono> "Correct," Tepen agrees, then to Muirfinn, "This glittering realm shares its name with a type of specialized sword that also hails from it. Name it." OOC: Planes check if you like.
[21:49] <Muirfinn> roll 1d20+19 not sure?
[21:49] * Hatbot --> "Muirfinn rolls 1d20+19 not sure? and gets 25." [1d20=6]
[21:50] <Muirfinn> "Ehhh...Radiance?" Muirfinn throws out a guess!
[21:52] <Kotono> "No," Shaking his head, "Jovar, the Sixth Glittering Heaven of Celestia. The sword known as a Jovar comes from the celestial armories there." Turning to Elder Kole, "This wet city has a large number of this white precious stone in its name. Name it."
[21:52] <Kotono> roll 1d20+24
[21:52] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20+24 and gets 26." [1d20=2]
[21:53] <Kotono> "That one's easy," Hanna's voice is heard as she walks in, taking one of the empty chairs and wrapping her wings around herself, feet up. "I visited before. Beautiful city."
[21:55] <Kotono> Elder Kole clears his throat, "The city of ten thousands diamons?" he tries, to which Elder Magi Tepen shakes his head. "The answer is the Citadel of Ten Thousand Pearls, seat of the Padisha of the Marid."
[21:55] <Kotono> Elder Kole snaps his fingers, "I knew it was ten thousand. Pearls, of course, pearls.":
[21:56] <Kotono> "Are you joining, Hanna?" Tepen asks, to which the angel shakes her head. "I'll just watch."
[21:58] <Kotono> "Very well," Tepen says, "Sylvie and Vul'lath have 3, Muirfinn 2, Kole 1. The next category is Religions. We will use accepted planar standards here, as religious practices can vary world by world. Vul'lath," Going on from that and switching parchment sheets, "Name at least three known paramours of Sune."
[22:01] <Kotono> roll 1d20+29
[22:01] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20+29 and gets 37." [1d20=8]
[22:02] <Kotono> "That is...actually difficult," Vul'lath admits, "If you hear the rowdier stories, one could think that Sune has slept with everyone from Arborea to Celestia to Baator to even the Abyss, and everything in between. I know for certain she and Sharess are intimiate, according to some holy writings. Lathander as well. Those are the two confirmed ones that are easy to find." Vul'lath considers
[22:02] <Kotono> a moment, "...Lliira?"
[22:04] <Kotono> Tepen chuckles, "I've never found anything signfying Lliira. I was looking for Fenmaril Mustarine. According to lore, she at one time sought to lessen his self imposed solitude."
[22:04] <Kotono> "Mestarine," Tepen corrects himself a moment later.
[22:05] <Kotono> Sylvie suddenly snickers, "You know," she points out, "She surely has other lovers and dalliances around Brightwater. I've even heard stories of a few."
[22:05] <Kotono> Sage Vul'lath frowns a moment, "I should have thought of the same myself instead of guessing. The thought of Sune and a mortal did not even occur to me."
[22:06] <Kotono> "The stories about Sune are largely overblown. Sharess, no, but Sune's not really lik ethat," Hanna pipes up. "She's more about love than sleeping with everything she fancies."
[22:07] * Muirfinn thinks and thinks and thinks. "Sharess and Sune's portfolios overlap that much?"
[22:09] <Kotono> "They're related. Sune is more about love and love making. Sharess is more about love making, pleasure and...well...fucking. There is overlap, and Sharess serves Sune. Sharess at the same time has martial aspects that Sune lacks, though she often underplays them. There's a new goddess with them meddling the lines there even further, who has to do with martyrdom." Hanna rests back, "..we get
[22:09] <Kotono> a lot of news and gossip from Brightwater in the Court."
[22:09] <Kotono> "I believe the polite way of saying it is that Sune watches over the courtships leading to the bedroom, and Sharess watches over the bedroom." Tepen clears his throat.
[22:09] <Muirfinn> "Ah." Muirfin says, letting it lie.
[22:13] <Kotono> "Yes, moving on," Tepen retorts, "Sylvie, this deity watches over unicorns among other things, and has a ritual involving unicorns allowing the faithful to ride them for one day. Name this deity and the name of the ritual."
[22:13] <Kotono> roll 1d20+36
[22:13] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20+36 and gets 42." [1d20=6]
[22:18] <Kotono> Exhaling, "Mielikki for the first part, that's easy. The second part..." Closing her eyes again, "Oh...it's not the Wild Hunt, that's a fey thing. Wild...Day?" she shrugs at last, "I know it's Wild something."
[22:19] <Kotono> "No. Wild Ride," Tepen corrects, "No point there." Turning to Muirfinn, "Name the four gods who rule over the four elemental forces of Fire, Earth, Water and Air." OOC: K:R here if you like.
[22:21] <Muirfinn> roll 1d20+24
[22:21] * Hatbot --> "Muirfinn rolls 1d20+24 and gets 28." [1d20=4]
[22:21] <Muirfinn> OOC: hatbottttttttt
[22:29] <Muirfinn> "I'm afraid I don't know more than two. Kossuth and Grumbar. I don't know Mother Ocean's common counterpart, I'm afraid, and I've never been concerned with Air."
[22:30] <Muirfinn> "Unless Air is Talos."
<Steph> I might have made a terrible mistake

Corwin

[19:55] <Kozzzzz> "No. Akadi and Istishia," Tepen replies, then ot Elder Kole, "This aptly named weapon is held by Kelemvor, God of the Dead. Name it."
[19:55] <Kozzzzz> roll 1d20+24
[19:55] * Hatbot --> "Kozzzzz rolls 1d20+24 and gets 42." [1d20=18]
[19:56] <Kozzzzz> "What is Fatal Touch?" Elder Kole answers after a moment of furrowing his brow, "A decade ago I met a Kelemvorsman and he told me all about the lore over seaweed and crab stew."
[19:57] <Muirfinn> Meanwhile, Muirfinn palms his face at his own lack of knowledge.
[19:58] <Kozzzzz> Sylvie smiles to Muirfinn, "We all miss a few," she murmurs. Meanwhile, "Correct," Tepen says. "The score is now Vul'lath at 3, Sylvie at 3, Muirfinn at 2 and Elder Kole at 2. The next category is Oozes and Slimes."
[19:59] <Muirfinn> "Bah, I should have known that."
[20:03] <Kozzzzz> Turning to Sage Vul'lath, "This type of ooze is known for the unusual adaptation of wings, giving it the ability to fly and pounce from above at its prey. Name it."
[20:04] <Kozzzzz> "How the fuck?" Sylive mouths, blinking, "Wings?"
[20:04] <Muirfinn> "...flying slimes now? Since when?"
[20:04] <Kozzzzz> roll 1d20+29 he has K:D, huh?
[20:04] * Hatbot --> "Kozzzzz rolls 1d20+29 he has K:D, huh? and gets 32." [1d20=3]
[20:04] <Kozzzzz> roll 1d20+24 Academic Lore
[20:04] * Hatbot --> "Kozzzzz rolls 1d20+24 Academic Lore and gets 36." [1d20=12]
[20:05] <Kozzzzz> Sage Vul'lath scowls deeper, "What is...that I have no idea of a flying slime or ooze," he says with a note of cooling irritation. "I shudder to t hink of one."
[20:06] <Kozzzzz> "Draconic Black Oozes," Elder Magi Tepen replies, a hint of a smile, "A rarity, but known to be the result of black dragons and draconic energies infecting oozes over centuries. They mimic the hunting patterns of black dragons in the sky."
[20:06] <Kozzzzz> Hanna smothers a laugh, shaking her head at that.
[20:07] <Muirfinn> "Black dragons..." Muirfinn eyes the shield at his side.
[20:08] <Kozzzzz> "No matter," Tepen smiles a little more, turning to Sylvie, "This slime is pandimensional, and known as an extrodinarily rare and potent hazard. Name it."
[20:08] <Kozzzzz> roll 1d20+36
[20:08] * Hatbot --> "Kozzzzz rolls 1d20+36 and gets 37." [1d20=1]
[20:13] <Kozzzzz> "I..." Sylvie makes an entirely cute, scrunched up face. "I..." Plop she goes back, "What is...what is...Astral Slime?"
[20:15] <Kozzzzz> "No," TEpen shake shis head, "The answer is Flux Slime." As Sylvie mutters something under her breath, Tepen turns to Muirfinn, "This ooze is known to be a powerful healing reagent, with a vial of its slime as good as a potion of curing. Name this ooze." OOC: You can make an Knowledge (Dungeoneering) check here if you have ranks and wish to.
[20:18] <Muirfinn> roll 1d20+3+6 Lore check, forgot I had this yesterday
[20:18] * Hatbot --> "Muirfinn rolls 1d20+3+6 Lore check, forgot I had this yesterday and gets 27." [1d20=18]
[20:20] <Muirfinn> "I believe...a life ooze? From the Positive Energy Plane? That sounds right." Muirfinn nods.
[20:22] <Kozzzzz> "Impressive," Tepen murmrus, "Correct, too. Elder Kole, this form of slime is a part of the Elixir of True Love. Name it."
[20:22] <Kozzzzz> roll 1d20+24
[20:22] * Hatbot --> "Kozzzzz rolls 1d20+24 and gets 35." [1d20=11]
[20:23] <Kozzzzz> "The only thing I know here is that I will never drink an Elixir of True Love now," Elder Kole visibly grimaces, "I'm afraid I have no idea...though it does remind me of that gelatinous cube infestation we had that one time..."
[20:23] * Muirfinn shudders.
[20:24] <Kozzzzz> Sage Vul'lath smiles thinly, "Certain slimes can be both nutritous and pleasing to the palate. Sweet purple slime is an ingredient in the icing of the best shortcakes."
[20:24] <Kozzzzz> "I'm going to pretend I never heard that," Sylvie says, shuddering, "It won't work, but I'm going ot try."
[20:25] <Kozzzzz> A moment later Sylvie snaps her fingers, "Though thinking of that, you're right. I used to work for a candy shop and we went questing for slime once."
[20:31] <Muirfinn> "...you. You have done strange and terrible things." he says to Sylvie.
[20:34] <Kozzzzz> "If it makes you feel any better," Sylvie smiles wanly, "Most of the people that worked there are dead. Murdered." Turning back, "Can we go on? Please?"
[20:35] <Kozzzzz> Tepen quickly clears his throat, "The scores everyone at three but Elder Kole, who is at 2. The next category is Golem Studies."
[20:35] <Muirfinn> "It doesn't, really. I'm sorry." Muirfinn says to Sylvie quietly.
[20:40] <Kozzzzz> To Sage Vul'lath, th efollowing question is posed, "This golem serves Dispater, Lord of the SEcond, as a personal bodyguard and enforcer. What is its name?"
[20:42] <Kozzzzz> roll 1d20+29
[20:42] * Hatbot --> "Kozzzzz rolls 1d20+29 and gets 31." [1d20=2]
[20:42] <Kozzzzz> roll 1d20+24 Academic Lore
[20:42] * Hatbot --> "Kozzzzz rolls 1d20+24 Academic Lore and gets 34." [1d20=10]
[20:42] <Kozzzzz> Sage Vul'lath tsks, but shakes his head, "I'm afraid I don't know," he confesses, "What is it?"
[20:43] <Kozzzzz> Elder Magi Tepen nods, "Talos the Triple Iron Golem." Pausing a moment, "It's not know why he named it after the deity Talos, though the pronunciation in Infernal is slightly different."
[20:44] <Kozzzzz> "There's probably a story there," Sylvie speaks up, "It's probably some sort of diabolical insult or ploy, or at least they'd claim it is if pressed."
[20:49] <Kozzzzz> "Perhaps," Tepen goes onto Sylvie, "This particular type of golem is known for its great alaclarity and speed, as well as the precious but light metal it is made of."
[20:49] <Kozzzzz> roll 1d20+36
[20:49] * Hatbot --> "Kozzzzz rolls 1d20+36 and gets 46." [1d20=10]
[20:49] <Muirfinn> "Ohhh, I know this one!"
[20:49] <Kozzzzz> "Oh," Sylvie snaps her fingers, "Mithral Golems."
[20:49] <Kozzzzz> "Correct," Elder Magi Tepen replies, "They're extremely poewrful golems with speed and ability, as well as superior resistance to magic. They are best treated with great care."
[20:52] <Kozzzzz> "Mm," Kole murmurs, as Tepen turns to Muirfinn, "These celestial constructs have a mind and will of their own, and are said to have been made from the mud of Belieren. Name them and who created the first ones."
[20:52] <Kozzzzz> OOC: K:A if you care to.
[20:53] <Muirfinn> roll 1d20+24 KA
[20:53] * Hatbot --> "Muirfinn rolls 1d20+24 KA and gets 42." [1d20=18]
[20:53] <Muirfinn> roll 1d20+6+3 Lore
[20:53] * Hatbot --> "Muirfinn rolls 1d20+6+3 Lore and gets 19." [1d20=10]
[20:57] <Muirfinn> "They are called Quesar and were created by a group of rather stringent celestials from Arcadia, the Radiant Lily."
[21:04] <Kozzzzz> "Correct," Tepen smiles momentarily, then to Elder Kole, "These golems are made after gemstones. Name two of them."
[21:04] <Kozzzzz> roll 1d20+24
[21:04] * Hatbot --> "Kozzzzz rolls 1d20+24 and gets 36." [1d20=12]
[21:05] <Kozzzzz> "That one's easy. Emerald and Ruby golems," Elder Kole replies, to which gets a nod. "Correct. As of now, the scores are Sage Vul'lath at 3, Sylvie at 4, Muirfinn at 4 and Elder Kole at 3. This is the last category, and correct answers are worth 3 points. These questions are hard. The category is pot luck. Are you all ready?"
[21:07] * Muirfinn nods.
[21:15] <Kozzzzz> A set of nods all around, and to Sage Vul'lath, "Your question is from Infernal Politics. This Duke of Hell serves Mephistopheles. Name him. After that, you should know that he came in conflict with a member of the Hebdomad in the Jaggeds of Howling Regret in Pandemonium. Name this member of the Hebdomad. Persistent rumors and lore state that this Duke of Hell only survived because of the
[21:15] <Kozzzzz> machinations of this Yugoloth. Finally, name that Yugoloth."
[21:15] <Kozzzzz> Sylvie whistles, "Tough one."
[21:16] <Kozzzzz> roll 1d20+32 planes
[21:16] * Hatbot --> "Kozzzzz rolls 1d20+32 planes and gets 38." [1d20=6]
[21:16] <Kozzzzz> roll 1d20+24 academic lore
[21:16] * Hatbot --> "Kozzzzz rolls 1d20+24 academic lore and gets 39." [1d20=15]
[21:23] <Kozzzzz> "A context question, with the first answer deduced if you can puzzle out the latter two," Sage Vul'lath replies, I do know of that battle. It was Raziel versus Leonar, a Duke of Cania. It is said Raziel won rather handily, though Duke Leonar managed an escape. Celestial sources paint it as an unmitigated victory, while fiendish sources paint it as part of a ploy or distraction. Roughly.
[21:23] <Kozzzzz> Demonic sources don't make much of it. Interestingly, both sources agree they were fighting over an artifact of great power, though what it was is unclear. The problem is..." Sage Vul'lath concludes, "Is that I am not aware of what Yugoloth is said to have interfered."
[21:26] <Kozzzzz> "Anthraxus," TEpen says, "You were correct on the other two. That was a very hard question."
[21:26] <Kozzzzz> "I suspected it was Leonar at least," Sylvie says, "Did you have any idea, Muirfinn?"
[21:27] <Muirfinn> "Nope." Muirfinn says with a completely straight face.
[21:28] <Kozzzzz> "I hope my question's easier," Sylvie exhales, "I'm ready."
[21:29] <Kozzzzz> "Very well," Tepen nods, "Your category is Medicinal Herbs and Remedies. There is a herbal remedy capable of restoring even lost limbs. Name this remedy, and name the two rare, natural components that are combined to make it."
[21:29] <Kozzzzz> roll 1d20+36
[21:29] * Hatbot --> "Kozzzzz rolls 1d20+36 and gets 45." [1d20=9]
[21:33] <Kozzzzz> Sylvie whistles a moment, letting her eyes close. "It's called Second Chance. I found some, once. Traded it to get my equipment better ensorcelled. Smells like strawberry jam, and it never gets stale. I can still remember that smell when I think about it, like it was under my nose. Ah." Licking her lips, "One ingredient is Silver Strawberries. Strawberries that grow on the banks of pure
[21:33] <Kozzzzz> mountain streams where natural patterns make the soils super-fertile. They grow once a year in the light of the Full Moon of high summer. The second is Valwart. It's a rare herb that grows in undisturbed, natural graveyards for animals. When it is distilled down makes a greenish paste. You mix the paste with the strawberries and boil it down, and you get Second Chance." Exhaling, "Is that
[21:33] <Kozzzzz> right?"
[21:34] <Kozzzzz> Tepen blinks, "Well said," he confesses, "That puts you at seven points. Muirfinn, to force a tie you have to get this question right. Are you ready?"
[21:34] <Muirfinn> "Let me have it."
[21:40] <Kozzzzz> "Your category is Giant Lore," Tepen says, "These giants are the offspring of elder titans and dragons, remarkble for the fact that they completely subsume any draconic traits inot them and appear as a titan, save for eyes that match their dragon parent. Name these giants. These giants are also known for two powerful, salient qualities. Name these qualities as well. Good luck." OOC: K:N
[21:40] <Kozzzzz> check here and lore check as you please.
[21:41] <Muirfinn> roll 1d20+31 KN
[21:41] * Hatbot --> "Muirfinn rolls 1d20+31 KN and gets 39." [1d20=8]
[21:41] <Muirfinn> roll 1d20+6+3 Lore
[21:41] * Hatbot --> "Muirfinn rolls 1d20+6+3 Lore and gets 29." [1d20=20]
[21:49] <Muirfinn> "Well, I know that they are called Ragarrid. They can cast both arcane and divine magic with frightening ease, and the other of the two powers..." he ponders for a moment. "...is that they have the ability to create life from shaped stone and earth, using only their will. I believe."
[21:50] <Kotono> Tepen listens, expression less as Muirfinn goes on. "That is correct in the first, the second and...the third, as well." Smiling a moment, "We have a tie between the two of you. Once Elder Kole's question is done, we'll resolve that."
[21:51] <Kotono> Elder Kole shakes his head, "Don't waste the question," he says, "I'm 4 points behind, so it doesn't matter. Muirfinn my boy," he pats the other tortle's shell, "Win this one for the pride of our people!"
[21:52] * Muirfinn nods, looking determined!
[21:52] <Kotono> Sylvie nods as well, face a look of concentration, "I'm ready."
[21:54] <Kotono> Elder Magi Tepen nods, "Each of you gets one question. The first one to get a question while the other misses one wins. In other words, until the tie is broken. Questions?"
[21:54] <Kotono> Hanna calls from her comfortable position, "Good luck, both of you!"
[21:54] * Muirfinn shakes his head.
[21:55] <Muirfinn> "Let's do this."
[21:55] <Kotono> "Yeah, let's do this," Sylvie echos.
[21:56] <Kotono> "We'll take turns with who goes first. Muirfinn, you'll go first this round." Turning to him, "The category is Celestia. The second layer of Celestia is named what?"
[21:56] <Kotono> OOC: K:P if you need it.
[21:56] <Muirfinn> "Mercuria." Muirfinn answers easily.
[21:57] <Kotono> "Correct," A turn to Sylvie, "What is the fourth layer of Celestia?"
[21:57] <Kotono> Sylvie doesn't even blink, "Solania
[21:57] <Kotono> OOC: Gah.
[21:57] <Kotono> Sylvie doesn't even blink, "Solania," she answers, "The Crystal Heaven."
[21:58] <Kotono> "Correct," Tepen nods, "Next round. The category is Magic Weapons. Some magic weapons have the ability to make bleeding wounds that drain the life from a victim. Give me the common name for this trait."
[21:58] <Kotono> roll 1d20+36 K:A
[21:58] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20+36 K:A and gets 51." [1d20=15]
[21:58] <Kotono> "Wounding," Sylvie answers immediately.
[21:59] <Kotono> "Correct," Tepen nods, then to Muirfinn, "Other magical weapons have the ability to channel pure chaotic energy through them. Giv eme the common name for this trait." OOC: K:A if you needit.
[21:59] <Muirfinn> "Anarchic."
[22:01] <Kotono> "Correct," Tepen nods, and then to Muirfinn again, "This round's category is Minerals. This common mineral is glittery and often flaky. Name it." OOC: K:N if you need it.
[22:02] <Muirfinn> roll 1d20+31 KN
[22:02] * Hatbot --> "Muirfinn rolls 1d20+31 KN and gets 36." [1d20=5]
[22:02] <Muirfinn> roll 1d20+6+3 Lore
[22:02] * Hatbot --> "Muirfinn rolls 1d20+6+3 Lore and gets 18." [1d20=9]
[22:02] <Muirfinn> "Mica."
[22:03] <Kotono> "Correct," Tepen nods once, then to Sylvie, "This extremely common mineral is crystalline and several varieties of it are semi precious gemstones. Name it."
[22:03] <Kotono> roll 1d20+36
[22:03] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20+36 and gets 42." [1d20=6]
[22:05] <Kotono> "Quartz," Sylvie likewise replies, which gets a nod and another, "Correct. This next round is Recent Planar Events. For recent, consider the last millenium as recent." To Sylvie he asks this, "This divine realm has recently solidified after its deity moved from the Abyss to Limbo. Name it."
[22:05] <Kotono> roll 1d20+36
[22:06] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20+36 and gets 40." [1d20=4]
[22:06] <Kotono> "Nature's Heart," Sylvie replies after  amoment's thought. "Talos, by the way."
[22:06] <Kotono> "Correct," Tepen replies. Meanwhile Hanna is leaning forward and watching, as is Elder Kole, "Keep it up," he calls, as Sage Vul'lath coolly watches. "Muirfinn, this layer of the Abyss held captive eladrin children until about 20 years ago, when mortal heroes freed them. Name this layer." OOC: K:P if you need it.
[22:09] <Muirfinn> "Androlynne, the 471st layer." Muirfinn says wryly. "There was once talk among some of the younger warriors about going to their aid some time back, but by the time everything had been settled and prepared, the battle had been over for two years."
[22:11] <Kotono> "Correct," Nodding slightly to that, "The next category is General Arcana. This spell requires a focus of a miniature rudder inlaid with silver. Name it." OOC: K:A if you need it.
[22:12] <Kotono> A soft whistle is heard - nearby Annalise watches, giving away her presence only by that slight little sound.
[22:12] * Muirfinn blinks for a moment, briefly eyeing Annalise before settling in to think.
[22:12] <Muirfinn> roll 1d20+24 KA
[22:12] * Hatbot --> "Muirfinn rolls 1d20+24 KA and gets 27." [1d20=3]
[22:12] <Muirfinn> roll 1d20+6+3 Lore aw hell
[22:12] * Hatbot --> "Muirfinn rolls 1d20+6+3 Lore aw hell and gets 10." [1d20=1]
[22:13] <Muirfinn> "Rudder...rudder...I have...no idea. Arcana is not my specialty." Muirfinn admits.
[22:14] <Kotono> A gasp comes up, as Tepen nods, "The answer is Submerge Ship." Turning to Sylvie, "If you get this question right, you win. Are you ready?"
[22:14] <Kotono> Sylvie nods back, "Ready."
[22:14] <Muirfinn> "Ships. Of course I wouldn't know it." Muirfinn sighs.
[22:15] <Kotono> "This spell varies three circles in bardic magic and wizard magic, and requires a component worth 1,000 gold at a minimum. Name it."
[22:15] <Kotono> roll 1d20+36
[22:15] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20+36 and gets 44." [1d20=8]
[22:15] <Kotono> "I..." Sylvie closes her eyes. Meanwhile Hanna chuckles, "That one's a lot harder than the softballs you've been giving them," she comments.
[22:16] <Kotono> "I'd like not to spend all day asking questions," Tepen retorts. Meanwhile Sylvie frowns and frowns..."It's...I don't know," she finally says, "It's on the tip of my tongue, but I can't remember it!"
[22:17] <Muirfinn> "This contest WAS your idea." Muirfinn says to Tepen.
[22:18] <Kotono> "Hindsight," Elder Magi Tepen replies, "Yes, the questions are getting more difficult now. This round's category is Obscure Lore. Sylvie, what is the name of Ilmater's personal weapon?"
[22:18] <Kotono> roll 1d20+36
[22:18] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20+36 and gets 51." [1d20=15]
[22:19] <Kotono> "I don'-wait." Sylvie blink-blinks, "He doesn't have one. I mean, I knew a monk who followed Ilmater and he favors unarmed strikes!"
[22:19] <Muirfinn> "A clever question."
[22:20] <Kotono> "Correct," Tepen nods with a hint of a smile, turning to Muirfinn. "What are the name of the dreaded fey who holds great hunts over the night?" OOC: K:N if you wish.
[22:20] * Muirfinn blinks.
[22:21] <Muirfinn> roll 1d20+31 kn I THINK IT'S HOARY HUNTERS, just looking for confirmation
[22:21] * Hatbot --> "Muirfinn rolls 1d20+31 kn I THINK IT'S HOARY HUNTERS, just looking for confirmation and gets 34." [1d20=3]
[22:26] <Muirfinn> "For a moment, I thought you might be referring to the hoary hunter, but rather I think it is the Master of the Hunt."
[22:27] <Kotono> "Correct," Tepen nods, "Again with Obscure Lore. Muirfinn, speaking of the Abyss, what is the name of the 651st layer of the Abyss?"
[22:28] <Kotono> OOC: K:P as needed.
[22:29] <Muirfinn> "Nethuria." Muirfinn answers. "I believe."
[22:30] <Kotono> "Correct," Turning to Sylvie, "What is the 531st laye rof the Abyss?"
[22:30] <Kotono> roll 1d20+36
[22:30] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20+36 and gets 53." [1d20=17]
[22:30] <Kotono> "Vudra," Sylvie replies right back, nodding.
[22:32] <Kotono> "Correct," Tepen switches sheets again, "Once more with Obscure Lore. This is the name of the Sultan of the Efreet's order that he is the Marhsal of."
[22:32] <Kotono> roll 1d20+36
[22:32] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20+36 and gets 45." [1d20=9]
[22:32] * Muirfinn clearly does not look like he has no idea.
[22:33] <Kotono> "Order ot he Fiery Heart," Sylvie says after several long seconds, which gets Tepen to nod. "Correct. Muirfinn," Turning to him, "The Padisha of the Marid claims to be the general of what aquatic animal?" OOC: K:P or K:N&R.
[22:34] <Muirfinn> roll 1d20+19 KP
[22:34] * Hatbot --> "Muirfinn rolls 1d20+19 KP and gets 24." [1d20=5]
[22:35] <Muirfinn> roll 1d20+6+3 Lore
[22:35] * Hatbot --> "Muirfinn rolls 1d20+6+3 Lore and gets 15." [1d20=6]
[22:35] <Muirfinn> "...octopi?" Muirfinn throws out a guess so wild it might hurt someone!
[22:36] <Kotono> There is a long pause, not a breathe breathed! At last Elder Magi Tepen goes to check the sheet again, "The answer is..." he draws out, letting silence reign a moment!
[22:37] <Kotono> "Is?" Sylvie repeats, "Well, is he right or wrong?"
[22:37] <Kotono> Annalise chuckles again, while meanwhile Hanna watches and waits!
[22:37] <Kotono> Elder Kole is tense and tight, awaiting with every breath!
[22:38] * Muirfinn peers at Tepen. "...well?"
[22:38] <Kotono> "Whales." Elder Magi Tepen says. "General of the Whales."
[22:38] * Muirfinn hangs his head.
[22:39] <Muirfinn> "Blast."
[22:39] <Kotono> Sylvie falls back and exhales, "I won?" she says, "That was...an impressive back and forth. I thought you had me a few times there."
[22:40] <Kotono> Elder Kole pats Muirfinn on the shell, "Next time you'll be trained up and blow her away," he says, "For our people's honor!"
[22:40] <Muirfinn> "Alas, I believe you are much more well-traveled than I. Perhaps I will live long enough to surpass you." Muirfinn stands and bows at the waist to Sylvie. "Well done."
[22:40] * Muirfinn snorts a laugh at the Elder. "I fear if we have another contest, Tepen may be old again by the time we finish!"
[22:40] <Kotono> "A lifetime spent reading," Sylvie admits, smiling now.
[22:42] <Kotono> A bit of laughter breaks out at that, "Still," Tepen says, "Well done, both of you." Reaching into his robe, "Sage Vul'lath offered this up as a prize." Within a small glass jar is a bright golden, fluffy material. "Purified and sanctified celestial ambrosia of life. Whomever eats it will permanantly become more vital."
[22:43] <Kotono> Sylvie takes it and peers at it, "Hm. That begs the question of what to do with it," she confesses, looking around. "If it makes you toughter...Kascha," she says after a moment, "Unless anyone else has a good suggestion?"
[22:44] * Muirfinn nods. "A good choice."
[22:44] <Kotono> "Hey, wait a minute," Sylvie frowns, "Wasn't she supposed to be here?"
[22:44] <Kotono> Elder Magi Tepen stops, "Now that you mention it, she was. Where'd she get off to?"
[22:45] * Muirfinn blinks. "I forgot all about that."
<Steph> I might have made a terrible mistake

Corwin

[19:50] <Kotono> "So did I," Tepen admits, a half frown forming, "She was excited about it, and I noticed she was late, but I was certain she'd be just a few minutes late."
[19:51] <Muirfinn> "We should go find her, make sure she's alright."
[19:52] * Ebiris is now known as Afina
[19:55] <Kotono> "We should," Sylvie nods, "Let's look around." OOC: Gonna just go look for her?
[19:56] <Muirfinn> OOC: Yup. Maybe happen across Elena or something to help us find her.
[20:01] <Muirfinn> OOC: Really it's just detective work. She hangs out with Arrel a lot, we could check there first.
[20:01] <Kotono> No luck with Elena - but Sylvie and Muirfinn search. Eventually you do come on her. You find her in a little corner of the cafeteria. A scarred elf-like eladrin in full armor sits opposite her, a bit of a smirk on his face. "Then," he says commandingly, "The second wave of calvary sliced through the ranks of the manes!" Kascha sits opposite, a blush forming on her cheeks.
[20:03] <Muirfinn> "Is this...some sort of courting ritual?" Muirfinn says quietly to Sylvie. "I've seen females look like that before."
[20:08] <Kotono> "Oh!" Kascha murmurs, "Then...?" The reply is easy as he leans in, "I personally lead the charge past the breaking manes, into the arrow demon line. Drawing a falchion and putting it on the table between them, "Storseier claimed over a dozen arrow demon heads when it was all said and done."
[20:08] <Kotono> Just as quietly back, "It looks like it. If I didn't know better, Kascha's taking a shine to his stories."
[20:09] <Muirfinn> "Well, I suppose we should leave her to it then. She may well get more enjoyment out of this than our contest."
[20:12] <Kotono> "Wise choice," Sylvie says with a hint of a smile, "Interrupting a couple like that is a good way to get beaten up."
[20:14] <Muirfinn> "Mmh." Muirfinn grunts. "You mammals are so touchy and high-strung."
[20:16] <Muirfinn> OOC: We can head off from there I guess? I'm not about to interrupt the poor girl.
[20:20] <Kotono> OOC: Okayo. Moment.
[20:26] <Kotono> OOC: Is there anything you wanted to do around Aurora right now?
[20:27] <Muirfinn> OOC: Check out the garden, and wander for a bit.
[20:32] <Kotono> The gardens Muirfinn are having grow are developing well. As he checks on them, "It's good to see some greenery here," Tannin walks up to Muirfinn, "Muirfinn, right? Tannin Darkbrooke," He offers a hand out to the tortle.
[20:34] * Muirfinn takes the hand in his own scaly mitt and nods. "Good to meet you. I'm glad you like my gardens. They're not as nice as the ones I kept back on Lifasa, but time can easily change that. Things grow so quickly here that I don't doubt that this place will far surpass my own past efforts. What can I do for you?"
[20:37] <Kotono> "Oh, just a social call," he replies blandly enough, "If you're not familiar with my services, I gather information and follow leads around the Planes. If you have any requests or curiosities, let me know. I'm about to leave on a task right now, but keep it in mind. I like to stay busy."
[20:39] <Muirfinn> "Ah! How useful! That sounds like an interesting job. When you have free time, I'd like to hear some of your stories."
[20:41] <Kotono> "I have a heap of them," Tannin replies, "Should tell you about the time I was trying ot get away from a berserk cornugon."
[20:43] <Muirfinn> "Indeed. Come see me when you have free time. I have some stories of my own." Muirfinn knocks meaningfully on the shield strapped to his side, made of black dragonhide.
[20:46] <Kotono> "Heh, heh. Will do," Tipping an imaginary cap to Muirfinn, "Stay alive, will you?"
[20:47] <Muirfinn> "You do the same."
[20:55] <Kotono> With that, Tannin goes off. The rest of the gardening is without incident. On wandering a little later, down the main hallway and past the imposing Medicant golems...OOC: Make a listen check?
[20:56] <Muirfinn> roll 1d20+21
[20:56] * Hatbot --> "Muirfinn rolls 1d20+21 and gets 39." [1d20=18]
[21:02] <Kotono> Muirfinn can hear sprightly giggles behind him.
[21:02] * Muirfinn turns to look!
[21:05] <Kotono> OOC: Quick K:P check?
[21:06] <Muirfinn> roll 1d20+19
[21:06] * Hatbot --> "Muirfinn rolls 1d20+19 and gets 30." [1d20=11]
[21:10] <Kotono> You catch a glimpse of tiny, fairy like things. Courre eladrin, dressed brightly and laughing merrily. They dart behind the golems, out of sight.
[21:12] <Muirfinn> Smiling, Muirfinn gives the feyish celestials a little wave as he passes.
[21:17] <Kotono> The giggles are louder now as the courre emerge! Four of them struggle to carry a series of small buckets, "Hi!" A female one with bright red hair and elven ears flutters in front of Muirfinn's face. "I have to say, you have a really nice shell!"
[21:19] <Muirfinn> "Ah, thank you. I've worked hard to find good decorations for it over my life. Nice to see someone outside my own kind appreciate a finely festooned shell." Muirfinn preens.
[21:29] <Kotono> "Yeah!" The little courre calls, "We wanted to ask if we could paint it, since it's such a nice shell!"
[21:36] * Muirfinn blinks. "Paint it? With what? Is it scuffed?" he cranes his head backward at a nearly impossible angle, his neck extending out, peering at his shell.
[21:39] <Kotono> Muirfinn's shell is not scuffed. "Blue! Red! Green! Pink! Yellow!" The various courre all call out, buckets hefted, "Rainbow Shell!"
[21:42] * Muirfinn thinks about it for a moment, then chuckles. "Why not?"
[21:44] <Kotono> With a cheer and blur, the pixies get to it! They begin to throw buckets of paint all over Muirfinn's shell, then crash into the running blobs of it and roll around against it!
[21:50] * Muirfinn starts, surprised at their fervor, but accepts it and waits until they finish.
[21:53] <Kotono> On and on they go! When at last the paint stained courre come off, Muirfinn's shell is a messy collection of rainbow! Every color is there, mixing toegether at seeming random.
[21:55] <Muirfinn> "Ah....thanks." Muirfinn says, bowing to the courre.
[21:59] <Kotono> "It's shiny!" One of the courre says, covered head to toe by paint. She flies in and gives Muirfinn's cheek a tiny little kiss, "You like it?"
[22:00] <Muirfinn> "Of course. A shell should be decorated well in order to stand out." Muirfinn nods.
[22:03] <Kotono> "Yay!" A cheer erupts around the courre, "Let's go show the big scary Baleruk! It's just like him now!"
[22:09] <Muirfinn> "...Baleruk the humongous dragon?" Muirfinn asks with a flat look. "Sure, let's go."
[22:24] <Kotono> "Yaaaaaaaay!" The courre seem to miss the look entirely, perching enmasse atop Muirfin's head and shell. "Let's go!"
[22:25] * Muirfinn briefly debates picking up his water elemental from the fields, then changes his mind. It was freaked out enough by the boiling it received when the Aurora was attacked. Instead, he heads toward the Dragon's Ego.
[22:34] <Kotono> The trip to it is without incident. On reaching inside you find a rainbow quartz cave - dim and dark, yet shining with light. In the center of this cave Baleruk sits, on a pile of golden coins. Several Firre eladrin are nearby, listening to him as, "...FOR I AM THE FIRST AND GREATEST, THE NEW WAVE OF ALL DRAGONS! LET IT BE KNOWN THAT TIAMAT AND BAHAMUT FEAR ME AND CANNOT STAND OT MOVE AGAINST
[22:34] <Kotono> ME IN EARNEST! THEY COWER AND HIDE FROM ME!"
[22:35] * Muirfinn blinks, nearly blown over by the sheer volume of the verbose dragon.
[22:35] <Kotono> The courre eep and hide behind Muirfinn!
[22:36] <Muirfinn> "I say." Muirfinn says.
[22:37] <Kotono> Baleruk's attention turns to Muirfinn. He stares amoment before laughing, "EXCELLENT! I ACCEPT YOUR ACT OF SUPPLICATION AND MIMICKRY! LET ALL HEAR THAT THOSE WHO WISH TO BOW BEFORE THE TRUE GOD OF DRAGONS SHALL PAINT THEMSELVES IN PALE MIMICKRY OF MY PRISMATIC GLORY!"
[22:39] <Muirfinn> "Hmmm...yes, alright." Muirfinn nods. Whatever makes the crazy, ridiculously large dragon happy.
[22:40] <Kotono> "MY FIRST DISCIPLE, I BID YOU TO SPREAD THE WORD OF MY RAINBLOW MAGNIFIENCE ALL ACROSS THE KNOWN PLANES! LET NO CORNER OF CREATION BE UNAWARE OF MY ASCENT!" Pointing one claw at Muirfinn, "IT SHALL BE SO!"
[22:40] <Muirfinn> "As long as you don't mind my habit of killing black dragons on sight." Muirfinn says. "I can help out with that."
[22:42] <Kotono> "So it will be, disciple," Baleruk's tone returns to normal, "Now go!"
[22:43] * Muirfinn looks at the courre. "You wanted anything else?"
[22:45] <Kotono> "We WANT TO GO HOME!" The courre whimper, turning into globes of light and fleeing as fast as they can!
[22:46] <Muirfinn> "Alright then." Muirfinn bows at the waist to Baleruk and all present before turning and heading out.
<Steph> I might have made a terrible mistake
