01[22:23] <Seira> Donald wouldn't do this without a good reason. Probably. Seira puts on a robe and spends a brief instant fixing her hair and the circlet nestled in it, before slipping outside and closing the door behind her. "Who's here to see me?"
[22:24] <Kotono> Amaryl stirs as Seira goes out, a few groggy words missed. "A messenger," he replies, wearing loose nightclothes, Guardianil held in his off hand. "He said he had orders from Commander Oberuth to wake you."
01[22:25] <Seira> "Well, I'm awake," Seira responds, not sounding upset or sarcastic. Her gaze drifts down to the sword in Donald's hands. "Do I need to arm myself before I meet with this messenger?"
[22:25] <Kotono> "Oh no. Well, um...you know, better an ounce of a sword than a pound of reincarnation magic?" Blushing now, "It's not like there wasn't a devil attack all that long ago."
01[22:27] <Seira> "Got it, tell the messanger I'm on my way and stay here to guard the place," Seira instructs Donald, ducking back inside to grab the Hammer of the Shard and the Resort. She also decides to put her earrings on, fixating the image of herself in a robe to prevent embarrassing accidents along the way, before considering herself ready.
[22:30] <Kotono> On exiting out to the inn proper, Seira finds the messenger waiting. He's a normal soldier, awake enough, though drinking water. He salutes as soon as Seira comes out, "Ma'am, Commander Oberuth has ordered you to report to the meeting room of the garrison as soon as possible."
01[22:31] <Seira> "Let's be on our way, then," she responds, returning the salute and heading off at a brisk pace.

Donald says, "I can't stand fighting in water or boats. The last time I did, it was like this musclebound fir eelemental decided to ruin my day."
06[23:17] * Seira is ready herself, and has dispatched a messenger to the Temple of Waukeen upon her return, with the explicit instructions to wait for Gilartal to awaken and then hand him a missive from her. That should handle one matter. The other is talking to Amaryl; Donald could entertain Pollyanna a bit longer easily enough.
[23:20] <Kotono> Amaryl's in her room. She's changing into her day clothes when Seira enters, just finishing lacing up her boots.
01[23:21] <Seira> "You heard about the situation," Seira says without preamble, leaning against the doorframe. "I'm headed back there, and without Alicia's backup this time around."
[23:26] <Kotono> "Who's going with you? You aren't going alone, are you?" Amaryl's color drains into nothing, "You can't go alone!
01[23:28] <Seira> "Not alone," Seira responds. "Pollyanna's coming along, and I'm trying to hire Gilartal's services. But I have one more open spot on the team." She hesitates. "You fell off a horse. It was more horrible than I could put into words, but the only way ahead I can see is to learn a lesson from it and proceed ahead. It's the same thing Waukeen taught me, when she gave me that quest and sent us to Halla."
[23:47] <Kotono> "Seira, I..." Wiping at her eyes, "...but...what if I...What if I die, Seira?" Looking into her eyes, "Will I become a wraith then?"
01[23:50] <Seira> "I won't let that happen," Seira states categorically. Her gaze softens as she looks back. "You know that. But... we were just too overconfident for our own good. It crossed into presumption. You're not ready yet to fight in melee; neither was I until well into my service and training. Archery's a perfectly respectable trade, and we need to stick to the things we're good at.
01[23:50] <Seira> My spell selection's included in that; this time, I'm focusing more on playing to my strengths and fighting the kind of battle I'm best at."
[23:52] <Kotono> "Okay..." Amaryl takes a breath and then, "If that's what you say, it has to be tre, doesn't it?"

01[23:54] <Seira> "I understand how you felt," Seira admits. "The combination of having a sword seemingly made just for you call to you, and the desire to fight alongside the people you like, instead of suffering the frustration from seeing them take all the lumps. But that's not how it is. Having support is invaluable, and the thought alone is enough.

[23:57] <Kotono> "I understand. Without archery support, infantry withers and dies." So saying, she reaches out and takes Seira's hand. "Is that what you're trying to tell me now, Seira?"

01[21:22] <Seira> "Never. Never ever ever! Never take that ring off!" Seira tells Amaryl, grasping her hands. "That's why you have it! It's your last resort, in case horrible things happen! It can't help you in your pocket, but it could've saved you life even if one of those freaks had grabbed you!"
[21:24] <Kobreakfast> "Ah..." Amaryl colors entirely, "S-Seira, I was just su-surprised by them and my hands were shaking!" Bowing her head as she blushes like a star nova, "S-ssoryy..."
01[21:25] <Seira> "Just keep the kraken in mind the next time you think about going anywhere without it," Seira says, sighing. "What if you just think you're going for groceries, but suddenly, Esthan appears?"
[21:26] <Kobreakfast> Amaryl hangs her head and nods, "I understand," she says in a small voice.
06[21:27] * Seira nods. "Alright. First, I'll memorize another teleport spell, since we went off course quite a bit. I don't know what went wrong... maybe I tempted fate when I spoke about being near sealing this damned thing back up."
[21:28] <Kobreakfast> "It's the nature of the spell," Pollyanna starts looking about, "I talked to Countess Stronger about it and got her to explain how it worked. There's a chance it always goes awry, yes?"
06[21:29] * Seira grimaces. "Well, yes, but I'm usually ever so careful!"
06[21:30] * Seira takes off her ring of protection, handing it over to Amaryl. "Since that one's spent right now, you would get a better benefit out of wearing this today."
[21:32] <Kobreakfast> Amaryl puts it on without comment. Pollyanna shivers, "We're going to be here most of the day, arne't we?"
01[21:33] <Seira> "Yeah. Just give me a moment," Seira requests, and once a third teleport spell had been memorized she says, "There would be an Alarm spell around me. It gives me a warning from twenty feet away." She pauses briefly. "Please don't make me rely on the Alarm spell. Also, stay together at least until a fight breaks out. There are certain spells I can only use when the two of you are relatively nearby."
06[21:35] * Seira considers. "The conditions inside the field are several times worse," she warns the two at last. "Under no situation are either of you to step inside. Even to save me. Doing so would likely mean you'll die for nothing. Besides, I'm a dragon, so I'll be fine in the end. Is that clear?"
[21:36] <Kobreakfast> "Got it," Pollyanna agrees, "No problem. Anything else?"
01[21:37] <Seira> "Listen to my orders. In lieu of said orders, the battleplan is a fighting retreat. We are not defending anything, and the longer you can deny your enemies a chance of melee while peppering them with ranged attacks, the better. I will ensure that gap remains open longer than normally."
[21:38] <Kobreakfast> "Good luck then," Pollyanna gazes about, settling into her vigil. OOC: Ready to moave along a bit?

01[21:44] <Seira> "We'll need to stay at Elandra's Rest tonight," Seira announces, stumbling back to the boundary and the small campfire Amaryl and Pollyanna have going. "I could get us all the way back, but I don't like doing it with no guarantees, and we've spent the ring already."
[21:45] <Kobreakfast> "At least nothing happened," Amaryl murmurs, "Let's go? The sooner we're gone from this place, the better. I can'ts tand it here."
06[21:46] * Seira takes her valued scroll of Teleport out, wrapped carefully in a water-resistant bag, and places it at her belt. "Let's," she agrees, and invokes the teleportation spell as soon as her hands are linked with Pollyanna and Amaryl.

01[22:05] <Seira> "You're fine, aren't you, Amaryl?" Seira asks after checking herself for those signs of creeping necrotic aura that she had almost grown accustomed to. "No lesions or anything nasty from all the exposure? How about you, Pollyanna?"
[22:08] <Kobreakfast> When she goes to privately check herself, Seira finds a patch of dead skin across her stomach. It's pale with patches of roiling black underneath. Amaryl shakes her head, "No, I haven't. I'm just tired every evening."

06[22:20] * Seira gets back to work, her entire body tingling with an excitement even the evil aura permeating this place cannot entirely extinguish! Her first and main priority is to fix the seal. If she is able to do so, and only then, will she try placing an additional clause of only allowing entry to herself and denying it to all else.
01[22:20] <Seira> It carries a certain risk of Esthan walking about aimlessly and literally walking into it, but surely stumbling upon a strong, unshielded aura of death once walking past an invisible barrier would be just as enlightening.

Her hands dance around a nearly invisible pillar, putting the final touches on! There is a brilliant glow all around as the last symbol is drawn, then...it's done. The pillar is gone. "Seira? Seira?" You can hear Amaryl calling, and then, 'Seira, where are you?' You can see her beyond the edge of the pillar's dome,

01[22:29] <Seira> 'I never moved,' Seira thinks back. 'What do you see now?'
[22:29] <Kotono> 'Just an empty mountain space,' Amaryl thinks back, 'It's the same, but I still don't see anything past it, the pillar or you. It's like you aren't there.'
01[22:30] <Seira> "Can you hear me?" Seira asks out loud.

06[22:33] * Seira nods to herself, and collects everything she brought along. A small fire disintegrates her bound notes on the artifact, no longer needed as her task is done and she has them committed to memory. Then, once the ashes themselves have been destroyed by an acidic breath, Seira steps outside the barrier, mentally alerting Amaryl that she's coming out and not to shoot her accidentally.
[22:35] <Kotono> Seira steps out! There's no aura here now, no death. It's just like normal mountains. Thin of air and chilly, but not deadly at all. "You did it!" Amaryl cheers, "You really sealed it back up!"
06[22:36] * Seira grins tiredly. "I think I'm allowed to say it just the once. I'm a great wizard!"
[22:36] <Kotono> Pollyanna sits down heavily on the rocky ground, "Ah." Falling backwards, spread out, "For all that this was a legendary deed, I'm glad it's done.:
06[22:37] * Seira channels some positive energy into herself, snorting. "Yeah, yeah. Give me a few minutes to memorize another teleport, and we'll head back?"

"It sounds cool when you say you have it, and if you meet a potential enemy and befriend them, you can give them a lair you're not using at the moment! 01[20:49] <Seira> "Pretty cute," Seira confirms. "But even more alien than the roc, at the same time. Just being near her was--" She searches for the right words. "Like, when I helped her get up, my entire arm went numb merely from the touch. She's pretty dangerous even to simply to be near without the air of magic, and it seems to be unconscious, a part of her and not some defense she brought up."

Now he sits up and then stands, "However. More indirect is agreeable. A road from Pallanth to Balmuria would be useful for everyone. To fund this would for the public good."
01[22:09] <Seira> "Since you're so agreeable to that, how about two roads?" Seira asks Saul. "You know what happened in the east, and despite the work on Waukeen's temple there, its clerics could only do so much to help when aid must travel incredible distances.

Not that I don't trust you, but this is revoluntionary uses of magic, not seen in ages. I'm not going to make an assumption on it's viability until it's been executed."

I will need to broach it openly when we go and visit Pallanth later today or tomorrow. As for the rest of the council? I think only Silverleaf hates me, but it's kind of irrational and there's not much I can do about it."

[19:08] <Kotono> The doors swings open. Here lies the treasures of a thousand ages. Gold and jewlery and statues and silks and so many things that Seira's eyes are momentarily dazzled. It is a alrge chamber, devoted to storing long forgotten wealths. Near the door, three rest on a carved oaken table inlaid with mithral and agates. A double-sword, colored red and blue; a plain, leather gripped mace, and a three-set of darts.
[19:09] <Kotono> "Take one of them," Desjardin invites, "As thanks from Pallanth."
01[19:09] <Seira> 'I wanna take it home!' Seira barely manages from exclaiming, though she certainly thinks it before she comes to her senses.

01[19:16] <Seira> "We do have an archdevil problem," Seira muses slowly to herself. "Do you think this mace is powerful enough to get past an archmage pit fiend's protections?"
[19:18] <Kotono> "It is both holy and a bane to types of evil." Juai Desjardin agrees, going forward to lay a hand on it's head. "Centuries ago, I swung this mace in battle. I never had a true chance to use all fo it's power. A few stray undead once were all I dealt with...far, far more it was trolls and goblins and a dozen pests unworthy of being slain with this fine weapon."
01[19:23] <Seira> "I see," Seira says solemnly. "In such a case, I believe I could not serve as a master for such a fine weapon with a history of its own. I am not well-suited to swinging a mace around, and while magic goes a long way towards allowing me to do so, it's not practical enough to switch from the sword I use right now. If you would have it, I would graciously accept the darts, Lord Desjardin."
[20:20] <Kotono> "Take them," He gestures at them, "May they serve you well, as well as you've served Pallanth."
06[20:21] * Seira does so, picking up dart after dart.
[20:23] <Kotono> There are three darts total. Each one is soft felt and silver, gleaming tips sharp as needle daggers.
01[20:26] <Seira> Seira's hand lingers over the third dart, finally picking it up. She turns to look back at Juai Desjardin, not quite frowning. "At the risk of sounding ungrateful," she says somewhat ackwardly, "this feels a lot like myself taking credit for what was a group effort."
[20:29] <Kotono> "It's for your entire Guard," Desjardin explains, "You're merely the one I saw first to give it to."
06[20:30] * Seira inclines her head. "On behalf of the Guard, then, I would like to thank you for your generosity, Lord Desjardin."
