[00:33] <Kotono> "We did it, but the bastard cardinal and his head lackeys are already gone," Growling, "We saw them briefly, but they knew we were coming, called us by name! We saved most of the prisoners and crushed resistance on that side."

[00:34] <Ithea> "'Most' of the prisoners?" Ithea asks, emphasizing the first word.
[00:34] <Kotono> "It wasn't a clean escape," Hanna says shortly, "The devils didn't let us walk out uncontested."
[00:34] <Afina> "Think those devils that attacked you three on the astral earlier figured out you were heading here?" Afina asks.
[00:35] <Kotono> "I'm putting this on Taelfagn," Hanna goes on, "The devils we defeated called out his name in terror when they were recalled to Hell. It's the only thing that makes sense to me."
[00:36] <Jaela> "If they did, there is nothing we could have done about, with the way travel on Astral works," Jaela admits, sadness from those news warring with the fugue state until she reaches a sort of resignation. "Let's wipe out resistance entirely, take what we can and leave."
[00:36] <Afina> "If there's any more devils in here we should kill them. But not before doing something about your eye, Hanna," she winces even through her fugue.
[00:37] <Kotono> "I'll survive," Hanna says shortly, "This way," Cocking her head to the two left doors, "Is taken care of."
[00:37] <Ithea> "I'd like to do something about the wounds that devil did on me," Ithea says. "I feel weaker than a child..."
[00:37] * Muirfinn shifts back, taking the form of a tortle again. "I can help with that. Hanna." Muirfinn waves his hand. OOC: Heal SLA!
[00:38] <Jaela> "I have this," Jaela asserts. Her shield glows brightly once more, and then she pulls the spike out of her mother's eye and calls upon a Miracle to make her fully whole once more.
[00:39] <Kotono> Hanna's eye quickly reforms at that, regrowing before your eyes. She blinks it clear, "Thanks," she says, "Whatever's left is the minions of little value," she goes on, "Things they're willing to cast aside."

[00:40] <Jaela> "We can knock a couple out to find out more about their... well, not plans, but the names of their superiors will do." Jaela picks the door to the right, and head towards it.
[00:40] <Kotono> The door to the right isn't a door, but an archway. Ahead is an open hall decorated with what looks to be statues of hamatula, and stairs going up.
[00:41] <Kotono> Turning to Ithea now, "What happened to you?"

[00:41] <Afina> "Have Celeblasson and the prisoners evacuated, then?" Afina asks Hanna as she follows Jaela.
[00:42] <Kotono> "We're working on it," Hanna replies, "Do you have any other objectives beyond killing, looting and escaping now?"
[00:43] <Afina> "No," Afina shakes her head. "If the prisoners and the leaders are taken care of, it's just clean up."
[00:43] <Ithea> "Devil's spear sucked out a lot of my strength as it sucked my blood," Ithea answers. "And I don't have any other objectives either."
[00:44] <Kotono> Hanna comes over, touching Ithea! In Celestial she says, "Strength again, life again, life eternal!" OOC: Con damage gone, greater restoration SLA.
[00:44] <Muirfinn> "What do you guys want to do with this place? Destroy it? Add it to the Aurora and remodel it? I'd rather not leave the devils a defensible outost waiting to be repopulated." Muirfinn says.
[00:45] <Ithea> "Thanks, Hanna. You and your daughter are lifesavers," Ithea says, sighing with relief as she straightens up, feeling a lot better.
[00:46] <Afina> "If you want to leave a few elementals behind to destroy it after we leave, we don't really have the means to take down a whole castle of this size on our own otherwise," Afina tells Muirfinn without much interest as they prowl for more victims.
[00:47] <Kotono> Thus the party advances up the stairs! Up you go, to the second floor. It opens up to what looks to be narrow halls - domed over battlement, tiny, boarded over murderholes around the perimeter of the castle.
[00:47] * Muirfinn nods. "A few elder earth elementals can take the place apart after we leave. Shouldn't take them more than a few minutes."

[19:43] <Kotono> Rest and recover from the battle of the void passes. Soon enough the three gather, minus Ithea. They are in the meeting room as Elena appears, "Okay, so Celeblasson will be here in just a moment," she says, "Um, want me to bring something to drink or anything?"
[19:44] <Afina> "Ice water," Afina asks since Elena's offering. It's good training!
[19:44] * Muirfinn nods. "I'll take some as well."
[19:44] <Jaela> "Mead always works," Jaela voices, "for me and for Celeblasson. For you as well, if you like?"
[19:45] <Kotono> Elena shakes her head, "I:'m fine!" A few blinks later and she returns, bringing the drinks. As she does, Celeblasson enters. He goes to sit, taking his mead and resting back. "Cheers to victory," he announces.
[19:46] <Afina> "Cheers," Afina raises her glass and drinks deeply of the cold water, mastering her shiver of distaste. "The only shame is that our foe had time to escape."
[19:47] * Jaela raises her own mug in salute. "And that we were too late for some of your people," she adds. "But we have someone here who specializes in resurrections, if you need his services."
[19:47] <Muirfinn> Raising his glass as well, Muirfinn nods. "Truly. We will hopefully get him next time."
[19:51] <Kotono> Drinks are taken, Celeblasson shaking his head, "The bastard got tipped off. Hanna had her own suspicions about it, which I suspect are likely the truth of it." Pausing a few moments as he looks into his half drained mug, before finishing it off, "Or the entire thing was a work from the beginning, but I can't figure out why. Got a lot of questions and not many answers this time."
[19:53] <Jaela> "Not yet. But if we can summon someone from the middle ranks, maybe we'll end up learning more," Jaela muses.
[19:53] <Afina> "You were attacked by devils on the astral plane, it's not a stretch for them to tie your presence with ours to assume we were mounting a joint rescue of your comrades," Afina observes, "It would make sense for them to prepare for defeat after the force sent against you the first time was routed."
[19:55] <Kotono> "That's where my own thoughts went," Celeblasson agrees, placing his mug down. "The question are more on my side of it. The captives never got told what the plan for them was, or if they were just going to be left to rot in those cells. Here's the rub as far as I can tell: Hell tricks us and captures my men - probably to eliminate them but it's unclear. We mount a rescue, the dogs of this Taelfagn
[19:55] <Kotono> attack and Void gets tipped off. Here's what I don't get. We were investigating devils going on about The End and all that rubbish. How does it all tie together, exactly?""
[19:56] <Muirfinn> "'The End?' That sounds rather ominous. What have you learned about it?"
[19:57] <Afina> "The End?" Afina looks at Celeblasson more intently, "Sounds like some matter of destiny that Taelfagn might be assuring. He'd certainly be concerned to see you working with us when we've shown the ability to circumvent his machinations."
[19:58] <Muirfinn> Nodding at Afina, "If it's another aspect of their plans regarding Lifasa, it would be who of us to foil it."
[19:59] <Afina> "Doesn't have to be Lifasa," Afina shakes her head. "What do you know about this matter, Celeblasson?"
[20:00] <Kotono> "The End. The final battle. The apocalypse. The things against the Eternal Revel. Let me explain." A pause, then, "Couple of weeks ago, we were chasing down the source of several doomsday cults. Sacrifices, signs of the End, all those ugly things that don't fit with the Eternal Revel."

[19:44] <Kotono> In a sickened daze, Ithea stumbles to find Stille. His room in the Officer's Quarters isn't far from Ithea's, and a knock on his door gets a cheerful, "Come in!" from Stille.
[19:47] * Ithea does so, stumbling in looking dazed and queasy as her glance shifts around searching for something that isn't there.
[19:49] <Kotono> Stille is in there. He hangs upside down from a bar set into the wall. He is shirtless, chest rippling with a slender musculature, sweat making his body shine. He does crunches from this position, going up and down in a steady motion, "Oh, Ithea-" he begins, before flipping off and to a kneel on the ground in one quick move. Springing to his feet, "What happened?"
[19:55] <Ithea> "F-father is coming. That book...so horrible. F-father's dead. Why is he coming? Do you have food? Father is making dinner for me, but I'd rather eat your food, Stille," Ithea rambles as a hand covers her mouth. She resists the urge to hurl somehow as she thinks about 'father' and the book's contents. "I don't want father's food."
[19:57] <Kotono> Stille's expression shifts from worried to dead calm in a moment. He reaches out to Ithea, taking her shoulders. "I'm going to take you to Balyss now. We're going to take care of you, promise. I want you to close your eyes and close your mouth. Can you do that for me? Just don't do anything but breathe in and out."
[19:59] <Ithea> "You don't have food?" Ithea asks with a confused glance, though she closes her eyes and tries to listen to Stille. Her breath isn't calming down too well as she continues to ramble. "You always have food. Am I going to eat father's food? His food sounds nasty, but I'm hungry. Maybe it'll be tasty. Will you eat father's food with me, Stille?"
[20:03] <Kotono> "Elena!" Stille calls, said girl appearing. Before she can even speak, "Get Balyss here. Hurry at it."
[20:04] <Kotono> "Um, okay?" Elena says, taking one look at Ithea before vanishing.

[20:05] <Kotono> A few moments later Elena reappears, "I hate to interrupt," she announces, "But we have a problem."
[20:06] <Muirfinn> "Hmm?" Muirfinn looks at Elena, "What's wrong?"
[20:07] <Kotono> "Stille had me get Balyss for Ithea- she looks really sick, and there's a look in her eyes that's scary," Elena dutifully reports, "I haven't ever seen her like this before."
[20:09] <Muirfinn> "Mmm...Jaela, Afina, I will take a look at Ithea. If it is dire, I will come and get you. Please continue your meeting." Muirfinn stands. "Celeblasson, it's been a pleasure." Muirfinn bows at the waist.
[20:09] <Afina> "A relapse from her injuries? She was struck quite fiercely," Afina says, nodding gratefully to Muirfinn at his offer. Between those two healers she should be well taken care of.
[20:10] <Muirfinn> With that, Muirfinn heads out!
[20:10] <Kotono> Celeblasson nods to that, and turning back to the others, "As I was saying, it's essentially doomsday fanatics. Who exactly is this Taelfagn?"
[20:10] * Jaela looks worried, and then says, "Alright. Call us through Elena if there is something we can do."
[20:10] * Muirfinn nods at Jaela as he heads out the door.

[20:07] <Ithea> "Balyss is coming? We should invite Sylvie too! Oh and Simmer, she's probably sad she didn't go with us, so we can all have a dinner party with father!" Ithea babbles, her eyes shutting more and more somehow, almost hurting, images dancing through her brain from that book. "Should I still keep my eyes closed? I see EVERYTHING FROM THE BOOK..." she exclaims.
[20:08] <Ithea> "Father's food won't be so horrible if we all have it together, right?" she whimpers. "Because we're all friends!"
[20:08] * Ithea grabs onto Stille, clutching him.
[20:09] <Kotono> "Just come here," Stille says softly, scooping Ithea up and carrying her to his bed. He places her down on it, "Lie here. Just lie here and tell me about Father. Holding her hand and sitting next to the bed, interrupted the grab, "Shh. Rest. It's alright. Shh. Help's coming. If this Father comes, I'll punish him in the name of Selune."
[20:10] <Ithea> "But if you punish him, what will I eat? You don't have food either," Ithea whispers.
[20:12] <Kotono> "Shh." Placing a finger over Ithea's mouth, "Shh." Stille insists, just holding her. Fortunately, it's not long. The door is opened, Balyss coming in with Muirfinn just behind her. "Alright, what the hell's going on?" she asks.
[20:13] <Kotono> "Ithea needs help," Stille says, "Ithea, tell then what's happened."
[20:13] <Muirfinn> "Elena sounded urgent. What seems to be the trouble?" Muirfinn says, moving over to look Ithea over.
[20:15] <Ithea> "I was buying lots and lots of books! Oh! And I saw a book Stille was going to love! All about food! 100 recipes! I was going to cook something for Stille before I gave him the book, and then I kept reading and reading and father promised me a dinner party! You're all invited!"
[20:16] * Ithea shudders, as in her closed eyes recipes of roasted elves, shank of tortle, and giant's tongue flash through her brain. "Father's food didn't sound that delicious, but I kept reading, so it has to be, right?"
[20:17] <Ithea> "Are Sylvie and Simmer coming for the dinner party too?"
[20:17] <Muirfinn> "I see." Muirfinn narrows his eyes. "Where is this book now?"
[20:19] <Kotono> "Yeah, where is it?" Balyss adds, "Muirfinn, if you can get it, I can see about doing something about this."
[20:20] * Muirfinn nods. "That was my thought. I'd like to see what this is really about."
[20:20] * Ithea opens her eyes even though Stille didn't tell her to open her eyes. She doesn't want to see father's food anymore. "You don't want to read it! You won't want father's food if you know what it is! I didn't either so I ran and ran and came to hide with Stille. If I'm not hungry I can't eat father's food!"
[20:21] <Muirfinn> "Ithea, we need the book." Muirfinn says patiently.
[20:21] <Ithea> "Father will find me though, he wants me to eat his food!" she adds as she hugs Stille, pulling him into the bed.
[20:21] <Muirfinn> "Should he find you, we will put him in his place. Where is the book?"
[20:22] <Ithea> "That's a dumb question! It's in my room! Where else would it be?" Ithea says with a scrunched up face. "Muirfinn, Stille doesn't have food. Do you have any food?"
[20:23] <Kotono> Stille holds Ithea close in the meanwhile.
[20:26] <Ithea> "Father, I don't want to eat them!" Ithea exclaims, scrunching up her eyes again as she lets go of Stille and covers her ears.

[22:28] <Jaela> OOC: I propose leaving the three books under watch until Tannin shows up. In fact, let's ask him if he needs them to look into things.
[22:28] * Ithea shakes her head. "No, if you didn't know and actually screened them, I'm just thankful it happened to one of us instead of someone else. Don't worry about it, Vel."
[22:29] <Kotono> Tannin's found in the cafeteria, nursing a glass of water. "Eh?" Looking up, "Is it about the evil book?"
[22:30] <Jaela> "And its potential evil friends," Jaela responds. "Vel is cooperating with us, so we'll need you to look into the estate it came from."
[22:31] <Kotono> "Can do," Tannin stands up, "What do you want done?"
[22:32] <Jaela> "Clear Vel and his agent Bella for us, so there's no lingering doubts. Find out about the previous owner and how he or she died. Discover what happened to the other parts of the estate and if wherever they went to experienced a rash of cannibalism and other ills." She glances at the others. "That about sums it up?"
[22:33] <Kotono> "Got it," Tannin nods, "I'll leave right away."
[22:33] <Ithea> "Would it help you if you have the books handy?"
[22:34] <Kotono> "If they're evil, not really," Tannin says, "Unless you're planning to give it to the devils as a birthday present, I want no part of it."
[22:36] <Jaela> "Then it's fine. Good luck."
[22:36] * Ithea nods. "I can keep the books in my room, then. I know not to read them now, not until we know more, anyway. Hope you find that it was just one bad book in that whole batch, I'd hate to hear this happened elsewhere, and there wasn't anybody to help the buyer like with me."
[22:37] <Afina> "I can always burn them if you like," Afina readily volunteers.
[22:39] <Ithea> "No, if they're safe, I'd hate to see knowledge lost, and thinking like that would just lead to me never buying a book again," Ithea says with determination. "Thanks for the offer though, Afina."

[19:29] <Kotono> After the incident with Ithea and the cursed book is resolved, there is still one lingering matter. Heading back to Celeblasson is without incident. Once back, "Since you seem busy," he observes, "Think I'll be getting to the heartwood of this. You came to the Court looking for allies, yeah?"
[19:30] <Jaela> "Among other things," Jaela agrees.
[19:32] <Kotono> "It's only right to help you after that," Offering a hand out, "Would you have some of us?"
[19:33] * Jaela doesn't hesitate in taking it. "It would be an honor."
[19:34] <Afina> "We're always on the lookout for more brave warriors to join our Crusade," Afina seconds from beside Jaela.
[19:36] <Kotono> "Then we'll be along in a few days," Celeblasson tips his head to the duo, "I may or may not be along with them. If I'm not, I'll send a capable lieutenant to lead. Also, if it's no trouble, I'd like to be borrowing Hanna for a few days."
[19:37] <Jaela> "She is her own person," Jaela responds, privately confused. "So long as she has no pressing plans, we can spare her for that long, certainly."
[19:38] <Afina> "If she's amenable. Just ask Elena and she can direct you to Hanna before you depart," Afina suggests.
[19:40] <Kotono> "Thank you," Nodding his head towards them, he gets up to go.
