<@Kotono> The attacks come fast and hard, the party being slashed! Morrie gets a scrape across his elbow and arm, while Janus gets slashed across the face! Autumn Crow takes one on the shoulder while Santos dodges like the wind! As this happens, the darkness beyond the gate continues to roil! It throbs bigger, almost leaking out of the gate! From this darkness two more skeletons emerge! "This is bad!"
<@Kotono> Ebenezer calls, "Reinforcements! Can you manage another wide range Aero, Janus?!" OOC: Santos is up.

* Kotono sets mode: +o Janus
<@Kotono> The skeleton's attacks are relentless, hacking t the party all over again! The group has to take step after step back, despite the skeletons crumbling before them! From the darkness is another throb - and before you stands another! This skeleton is bigger, surely that of a hug eman or small giant! It is blood red and carries a scimitar big enough to match! It comes from the darkness, staring
<@Kotono> with empty eyes at the party! In a raspy, dry voice it utters, "Kill...Kill...Kill San...tos. Kill...Ja..nus...Kill...all..." OOC: Santos is up.

* Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 2#1d100 and gets 161." [2#1d100 = 91, 70]
<@Kotono> With that final blow, the skeleton is tossed! It hits thew all and crumbles, the battle won! OOC: Free act. Wow that fight was harder than I thought it was gonna be. Loot post.
* Kotono changes topic to 'Santos: 1/18 Crow: 2/37 (p1) Morrie: 11/28 (p1) Janus: 1/22 (1/14 MP)'
<Morrie> "Is it... finally... ...Janus! Santos!?"
* Kotono changes topic to 'Santos: 1/18 Crow: 2/37  Morrie: 11/28 Janus: 1/22 (1/14 MP)'

<Janus> "Busy... vomiting..." Janus sputters through exhuming the poison.
<@Kotono> Ebenezer groans lightly, but otherwise doesn't get up.
* AutumnCrow catches her breath, and goes to check on ebeneezer, "Old man...still with us?"
<@Kotono> Incoherent groaning is the only answer Autumn Crow gets.
<Janus> "Tent..."
<Morrie> "I'm going to set up the tent for us... I think we all need a rest."
<@Kotono> "Tent..." Ebenezer manages to second pitifully.
<@Kotono> OOC: Going to pop the tent here, y'all?
<AutumnCrow> "Well...he sounds like he's still alive anyway. Uh...just...hang in there, alright? Morrie's setting a tent up now, I'll move you in there and you can sleep it off."
<@Kotono> OOC: Tenting then? Just looking for a confirmation here.
<Janus> OOC: yes
* Kotono changes topic to 'Santos: 18/18 Crow: 37/37  Morrie: 28/28 Janus: 22/22 (14/14 MP)'
* Morrie will set up the tent and try and help tend to the injuries of the other members.
<@Kotono> Rest comes. A much needed rest, allowing your beaten bodies to recover. The next morning the party sits around the campfire as they eat breakfast. Ebenezer sits back up, "That sort of monster must have been growing strong in those ruins for ages," he says, "It was far worse than the notorious Mad Pony!"
<Morrie> "I'm just glad you're all okay."
<Janus> "And it knew our names." Janus notes quietly, still rubbing his stomach. "That sort of confuses me."
<AutumnCrow> "No kidding. But...do you remember hearing what they said?" Crow looks to where they had the battle with a bit of an uneasy look, "They...called out to us by name. Santos and Janus at least. How could monsters, old skeletons, know who you two were? And quite specifically wnat to kill you?"
<@Kotono> "It's quite the corumdrum, isn't it?" Ebenezer says, bright eyes of magic looking into the fire. "What was it that the grey imp was talking about?"
<Morrie> "Didn't that imp earlier say that there was something here that wanted us killed?"
<AutumnCrow> OOC: Should Santos make a scavange check to salvage anything from the Red Bone?
<@Kotono> OOC: He can, sure.
<Janus> "Maybe it just wanted to bone us over..." Janus quietly muses, looking into the campfire. OOC: May I as well?
<AutumnCrow> roll 2d6+1 Santos scavanges around while the others talk
* Hatbot --> "AutumnCrow rolls 2d6+1 Santos scavanges around while the others talk and gets 7." [2d6=5, 1]
<Janus> roll 2d6+1 Janus follows up after Santos
* Hatbot --> "Janus rolls 2d6+1 Janus follows up after Santos and gets 11." [2d6=5, 5]
<@Kotono> As the two scavenge, they are able to put something together! OOC: Post in a moment.
<@Kotono> OOC: Post.
<Janus> "Maybe behind the door we'll find something else?" Janus suggests after he finishes scavenging.
<Morrie> "We should be prepared for the worst, though."
<@Kotono> "Yes, we should go on," Ebenezer says, "Someone doesn't want us in there, so logic dictates it may be something worthwhile to us."
* @Janus grimaces as he adjusts the robe. "Gonna need to sew this into a respectable tunic later... Well. Hopefully, this was it. If there's more, we're probably gonna need to bail."
<AutumnCrow> "Maybe some clues, at least." Crow played about with her new fan while talking, "Hmm. This...is definately a winter fan. I didn't think too many of these had circulated out of the Autumn Temple's area. Maybe one of us came here a long time ago..."
<@Kotono> OOC: REady to go on then?
<Morrie> OOC: Yar
<AutumnCrow> OOC: Indeed
<Janus> OOC ye
<@Kotono> Thus you go in! Ahead is a hall of smooth metal. The walls glow faintly within, a high pitched, vague hum filling the air. You advance in and down the hall a ways, coming to  a dead end. There is a door ahead and to the left.
<AutumnCrow> "So. Is this the ruin you were looking for, old man?" Crow quips as she eyes the metallic walls.
<@Kotono> Ebenezer trails along, giving the walls long looks as he goes on. "Oh, absolutely so!" He goes to the wall and taps it. There's a metallic echo, "Hopefully those skeletons were the last of the trouble, but it absolutely is!"
<Morrie> "Don't forget that sword... we may need it."
<AutumnCrow> Santos makes some manner of noncommital grunt as the imp sword is mentioned.
<@Kotono> "Yes yes," Ebenezer says, tapping one door, "Hm, these are supposed to open automatically," he says, "They must be broken. A little muscle power or thievery may be called for."
* AutumnCrow gives the door a solid kick. Alwyas a good way to motivate things to work properly in her book.
<AutumnCrow> roll 2d6+3 force check
* Hatbot --> "AutumnCrow rolls 2d6+3 force check and gets 5." [2d6=1, 1]
<Morrie> OOC: Oh dear.
<@Kotono> The door is kicked! Suddenly strange circles and symbols appear over the door! A genderless voice speaks words the party does not understand, before a huge beam of red light arches from the door towards Autumn Crow! OOC: You sure did!
<@Kotono> roll 2d6+3 AVD?
* Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 2d6+3 AVD? and gets 13." [2d6=4, 6]
<@Kotono> OOC: M.ARM?
<AutumnCrow> OOC: M.ARM is 0.
* Kotono changes topic to 'Santos: 18/18 Crow: 4/37  Morrie: 28/28 Janus: 22/22 (14/14 MP)'
<@Kotono> The laser catches Crow dead on, sending her straight back into the opposite wall! Here she lies twitching, burnt and dazed! The symbols on the door glow for a few more seconds before fading away.
* @Janus quickly hurries over to tend to her wounds! "Santos, uh, try, like, finessing it open? Please? And don't trigger the death ray?"
<AutumnCrow> "Who....in...HELL..." Crow manages to spit out as she pulls herself up, "puts LASERS on a door?"
<AutumnCrow> "And HOW the hell are THEY still working," she continues her rant, "when the door itself isn't!?"
<Janus> OOC: Can I pull my end-of-battle medic stunt to heal her up as other people work on the door?
<@Kotono> OOC: Sure.
<@Kotono> Ebenezer stares at the door, "My goodness, yes. Let's try a more subtle approach instead."
* AutumnCrow pulls out a brush and starts fixing the damage the DOOR LASER did to her hair while Janus heals the damage it did to her body.
<@Kotono> OOC: Which door is Santos gonna try to go all thievery on.
<Janus> OOC: There's only one door?
<@Kotono> OOC: There's two. One ahead and one to the left.
<AutumnCrow> OOC: More to the point, Santos does not have Thievery
<Janus> OOC: Oh. Phrasing implied it was one door that was ahead and to the left.
<@Kotono> OOC: A good point.
<@Kotono> OOC: Oh, it's two. My bad.
<@Kotono> As Janus and Crow restore her injuries, Ebenezer hums. "I think I know how you triggered it," he says, "Once you're recovered, I can guide yo uso your kicks don't do that."
* Kotono changes topic to 'Santos: 18/18 Crow: 37/37  Morrie: 28/28 Janus: 22/22 (14/14 MP)'
<AutumnCrow> "Hmph." Crow eyes the door, then turns to morrie, "Does your geomancy work on metal? Think you could force it open from...you know, NOT standing right in front of it like I'd have to?"
<Morrie> "I do not...well... it's certainly worth a try..."
<Morrie> "Actually... Ebenezer, what about the other door?"
<Morrie> "Do these both leadt to the same place?"
<@Kotono> "I'm not sure," Ebenezer admits, "One way to find out, I'm afraid.
<@Kotono> "
* @Janus rubs his head. "Probably not, but if you have notes on which door to actually try... or did all your info stop right before the doom skeletons?" At Ebenezer's reply, Janus slumps. "Thought so."
<Morrie> "Well, let's open one first and see what happens."
<@Kotono> "Yep," Ebenezer says, "Unfortunately so.
<@Kotono> "
<AutumnCrow> "Oh just pick one and try something." Crow grumbles.
* Janus changes topic to 'Santos: 18/18 Crow: 37/37  Morrie: 28/28 Janus: 22/22 (19/19 MP)'
<Morrie> "All right, so how do we do this? Might as well try your method first."
* Morrie will walk up to the first door.
<@Kotono> OOC: Which door is the firsT? The one ahead or the one to the left?
<Morrie> OOC: Ahead, sorry.
<@Kotono> OOC: Okay. Carry on, do whatcha gonna do.
<Morrie> OOC: I have no idea, it's your NPC!
<@Kotono> OOC: Oh.
<@Kotono> "What you'll want to do is hit it just so," Ebenezer gestures, "It should pop right open!"
* Morrie will try and hit it just so.
<@Kotono> OOC: Force check.
<Morrie> roll 2d6+3 force
* Hatbot --> "Morrie rolls 2d6+3 force and gets 11." [2d6=4, 4]

<@Kotono> WHACK! A solid hit causes the door to slide open! Ahead is a massive open space! Far ahead is a clear glass dome with massive amounts of light coming form above. In the dome you can see what looks to be some sort of ancient stonework and pillars. A simple arch leads into the dome's interior, but you'd need to get closer to see more.
<Janus> "Sunlight...?" Janus murmurs, advancing in.
<AutumnCrow> "...hmm. I thought we were further down then that." Crow heads in as well.
<@Kotono> It's not sunlight - it's too white and artificial for that. Peering up, you can make out a ceiling above, from which the light comes from.
* Merc is now known as Santos
<@Kotono> Ebenezer scurries ahead at this, gasping. As you go ahead, you can see inside the door. It's some sort of ancient, crumbling stonework. The remnants of a large chamber, crumbling pillars and some sort of altar in the center. There's fragments of black glass lying on the altar. As you come closer, strange circles and symbols float in the air inside of the dome, around various points. They're most
<@Kotono> concentrated around the altar.
<Morrie> "Well, I suppose we're checking this one first, then."
<@Kotono> Ebenezer gasps again, going right to the altar. He begins to hum and takes out a sheet of parchment, scribbling furiously on it. "I see, I see..."
* AutumnCrow keeps her eyes peeled for any unpleasant surprises while the scholar checks up the findings.
<@Kotono> OOC: You're welcome to make an awareness check if you like, Crow.
<AutumnCrow> roll 2d6+1 awareness. Crow is actually not that alert
* Hatbot --> "AutumnCrow rolls 2d6+1 awareness. Crow is actually not that alert and gets 13." [2d6=6, 6]
<@Kotono> OOC: Uh huh.
<Morrie> OOC: OH COME ON
<@Kotono> OOC: Trollbot.
<@Kotono> Autumn Crow looks around! Hm? She can see a hint of something behind the altar. Something a dusky brown that doesn't match.
<AutumnCrow> "Hold on." Crow moves behind the altar, moving with great swiftness to get the drop on it, if it was a critter instead of a thing.
<@Kotono> It's a plain brown sack. It looks completely mundane - until Ebenezer's eyes widen! He reaches out and grabs it, "By Fira and Shiva! A bag of holding!"
<@Santos> "Isn't that what most bags are for?" Santos asks with a raised eyebrow.
<@Kotono> "Well yes, but a bag of holding is enchanted. It can hold far more inside than you'd think! It's the best friend of heroes and thieves! It makes transit much easier, but they're quite rare. They're found in these ruins occasionally."
<AutumnCrow> "Well, is there anything in it?" Crow wonders aloud.
<@Kotono> Taking the bag, Ebenezer opens it up. He peers in several moments before reaching an arm in - all the way to the elbow, despite his arm being longer than the bag. After a few moments of this he withdraws, "It's empty," he says, before handing it back to Crow. "You all have more than performed well. Take it. It's not much use to a researcher."
<AutumnCrow> "Alright." Crow takes the bag and...puts her normal bag into it. She didn't really want to carry two bags around, and that seemed like a simple solution.
<@Kotono> "Now let's try the other door," He says, "I'm going to be spending some time here, so let's finish searching before that."
* Morrie will head back to the other door!
<@Kotono> OOC: Force check, whomever is going to open.
* AutumnCrow eyes the door...then plants a hard kick where the old man pointed out on the other door!
<AutumnCrow> roll 2d6+3 big money big money no lasers STOP
* Hatbot --> "AutumnCrow rolls 2d6+3 big money big money no lasers STOP and gets 10." [2d6=4, 3]
<Morrie> OOC: And the party was killed by a whammy
<@Kotono> The door is kicked and pops open! Ahead is a large room full of old, dusty skeletons and lots of debris. In the back are six metal treasure chests!
<Morrie> "...I hope those are just skeleton skeletons..."
<AutumnCrow> "And I hope the laser defenses aren't on the chests."
<@Kotono> Ebenezer nods, "Agreed, but there's only one way to find ou t."
<Morrie> "Who wants to brave it?"
<@Kotono> "Not I," Ebenezer steps back, "Autumn Crow, you endured the last laser well..."
<AutumnCrow> "Hmph." Crow strides bravely(but carefully) into the room, ready to strike any skeleton that even starts moving.
<@Kotono> The skeletons do not move. She reaches the chests without incident.
* AutumnCrow carefully tries to open one.
<@Kotono> The chest opens! Within looks to be some gil.
<AutumnCrow> "Well, seems safe." Crow proceeds to cheerfully open the chests in turn~
<@Kotono> The chests are opened! Within is...OOC: Loot post.
<AutumnCrow> "It's just as much fun as shopping, only without having to pay anything!"
<Janus> "That's... one way to look at it." Janus says, examining the skeletons
<@Kotono> They look like normal skeletons. They're old and dusky.
<@Kotono> *dusty
<Morrie> "I wonder how they came to be here..."
<Janus> "Bodies of other adventurers the red skeleton used to make his backup crew?"
<Morrie> "..." *He frowns.*
<Morrie> "I suppose that's as likely as any other..."
<AutumnCrow> "Ooooh." Crow exclaims as she pulls out some preserved wolf berries, "I bet I can make something with these~" She sounds particularly pleased and starts thinking about any recipies involving them she's ever read.
<@Kotono> ""Excellent," Ebenezer says, before turning, "I shall return and study now. Stay on guard but make yourselves comfortable, this may be awhile."
<@Kotono> OOC: Are y'all ready to skip ahead some, then?
<Janus> OOC: Sure, though as I said, I'm basically mostly AFK right now. Sorry.
<AutumnCrow> OOC: Yup.
<@Kotono> roll 1d100
* Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d100 and gets 11." [1d100=11]
<Morrie> OOC: Suddenly, we're in the sequel.

<@Kotono> A few days of nothing pass. It's good to rest up but rather boring overall. Ebenezer stays in the main room of the ruins, studying away. After several days of this he calls you all back. "I've finished." he announces, "At least for now. There's several unique and unusual things there - this is going to be a scholary breakthrough!"
<Janus> "Excellent. In what regard?" Janus yawns, having just put the final touches on sewing up the old robe into a more appropriate tunic.
* AutumnCrow comes over from where she was practicing various dance routines, and half nods as she puts her hair back up in a fashion better for travelling, "Well, glad you found what you were looking for."
<@Kotono> "First of all, the magic around the altar is quite skillful. Spellsmiths will have quite a time finding new secrets to it." Going to the altar and kneelingbefore it, "Of interest, each side of the altar is dedicated to one of four forces. The one on the left side here," Scooting over to it, "The inscription is faded, but the word 'Lich' can be seen. The others are too faded to tell much else
<@Kotono> about, I'm afraid, but the hints are tantilizing!"
<@Santos> "Hints of what?"
<Morrie> "...Wait, Lich? Wasn't that what we saw on that other door?"
<@Kotono> "The magic here is using a 4 elemental base system," Ebenezer continues, "Earth, Fire, Wind and Water. Lich seems to be tied to Earth, though that's purely conjecture due to the damaged state of the altar. What is still legible supports this." Standing, "The magic of the altar is focused here," Gesturing at the black shards of glass, "To what end I don't know, but touching the glass has a
<@Kotono> remarkable if disorienting effect."
<AutumnCrow> "Hmm. And Lich was on that other door as well." Crow recalls.
<@Kotono> "Yes, it's quite the mystery. Unfortunately I can only still speculate." Pausing a moment, "Could I have a volunteer to touch the glass? It's really worth seeing yourself, since words don't do the effect justice."<Morrie> "Hm... I'd like to do it."
<@Kotono> Ebenezer nods, stepping aside. "Just lightly touch a bit of the black glass."
* Morrie will reach his hand out to press a finger against it!
<@Kotono> On contact, Morrie's world spins! Suddenly, like a torando at too fast speed, he is in the past! The same conversation with Ebenezer repeats over and over, reaching the point where he touches the glass and looping back to, "I've finished." This happens dozens of times before suddenly Morrie is on his knees, dazed and nauseated. To the others, Morrie touches the glass and simply falls to his
<@Kotono> knees a split-second later.
<Morrie> "W...what..." *He stammers from the ground, trying to collect his thoughts.* "...what was that?"
<AutumnCrow> "Some kind of eldritch horror in there?" Crow quips, though not without some hint of concern in her voice.
<@Kotono> "It's a remarkable phenomenon, isn't it? If only I were at time mage," Ebenezer shakes his head, "But I'm sure a learned time mage will be fascinated by this."
<Morrie> "No... it was as if... things repeated over and over..."
<Morrie> "I think... it may be best if we leave this place soon."
<Janus> "I gotta try this!" Janus says perhaps far too cheerfully given Morrie's reaction, and touches some of the black glass!
<AutumnCrow> "I'll admit I was expecting that." Crow smirks.
<@Kotono> "The effect is relatively benign," Ebenezer goes on, "As far as I can discern." Suddenly Janus has the same thing, the world repeating over and over far too fast! He is then on his hands and knees, stomach churning like the seas at storm!
<Janus> "Woof." Janus murmurs, after a moment. "That's a trip."
<@Kotono> "How elemental power has something with such an effect confounds me. It may be remnants of another artifact or effect," Ebenezer continues on, "But unfortunately such is beyond my works. I need to go back, study and write a paper about this. Are we all ready to return?"
<AutumnCrow> "I think I'll pass on poking it myself, so yes, I'm ready to head out."
<Morrie> "Yes, please. I do not like this place any longer."
<@Kotono> OOC: Just going to head straight out of the caves?
<Janus> "Sure. No need to check the other path, then? And did you want to check with those imps to make sure we killed the right bad wrong evil thing?"
<@Kotono> "No need," Ebenezer says, "Hmmm, it's on the way. We should."
<AutumnCrow> OOC: I thought we got both doors? There was another path?
<@Kotono> OOC: You got both doors. I think he's referring to one back in the caves ou didn't check.
<Janus> OOC: Correct.
<AutumnCrow> OOC: Oh. I'm up for checking the other path if we want, but if majority wants to just scram that is also fine.
<@Kotono> OOC: Up to y'all
<@Kotono> .
<Janus> OOC: I'm willing to, we're full healed so
<Morrie> OOC: I'm okay with that.
<@Kotono> As the party heads out of the ruin, past the remnants of the skeletons...(More in PM to someone.)
<AutumnCrow> "Well, no need to leave potential treasure undiscovered," Crow grins, "Let's check with the imps and then go try that other path anyway."
<Morrie> "...ugh..." *He stops for a moment, taking a look around the area.* "Hold on..."
<Janus> "What is it?"
<@Kotono> "Hm?" Ebenezer turns back to Morrie, "Are you still nauseated?"
<Morrie> "I think... there is something else... here."
* Morrie looks like he's having a difficult time putting words into what he's trying to describe.
<Janus> "The skeleton remnants, maybe?" Janus turns and looks them over.
<Morrie> "No... No. Something much worse than that. Something that has pervaded the earth."
<Janus> "... I didn't pass gas, dude."
* AutumnCrow just eyes Janus, then sighs slightly.
<Morrie> "I think it is safe to continue on... but please be on your guard."
<@Kotono> OOC: Okay, continuing on then, y'all?
* AutumnCrow pulls two of her potions out of her bag and passes them to Janus, "Here. You used yours on me earlier, so..."
<AutumnCrow> Then she is ready to continue on.
<Janus> "Only used one, but thanks." Janus pockets them and keeps moving.
<Morrie> OOC: Yes, but much more warily than before.
<AutumnCrow> OOC: onward ho
<@Kotono> OOC: Okay. It's a touch too late to start a new scene, so we'll pause here.
