[19:23] <Santos> "Check the rooms, make sure we don't end up getting attacked from behind by any villagers. Every time we knock them out, those little motes of darkness vanish anyway, so it's probably safest to deal with them now."

[19:24] <Kotono> The party goes to the left door. You find it is ajar. Within are candles. Tons of candles, sitting in wall shelves or hanging suspended by chains. The floor is slippery with wax. All of them are lit, the room sharply bright. Within this lie two treasure chests, surrounded by candles. Oddly, there's no telltale scent of smoke.

[19:32] <Kotono> Going to the right side, the party finds a small room with stairs winding down into the darkness. The entire room seems dimmer, the walls sucking in light and letting naught out.
[19:33] <Morrie> He frowns at this. "Well, this is... I'd say unexpected, but..."
[19:33] <Lehko> "Hmmm.."
[19:33] * Lehko inspects the walls, trying to get an idea of the magic...
[19:34] * Lehko shivers.
[19:34] <Santos> "Wasn't expecting a path. So either way we pick could be trouble. Can you light up further, Lehko? If so, we might as well proceed through here now, otherwise we might as well go the other way and hope we find the vampire that way, finish him off, and then return here when his magic is weakened."
[19:34] <Lehko> "Below..."
[19:34] * Lehko focuses and tries to pump out more light.
[19:35] <Kotono> No good. The walls seem to suck in the light. All you can get is just enough to see, battling back enough darkness to be merely dim.
[19:36] <Morrie> "...I think this is... where the end of the path is." He says, then shakes his head quickly, hand going up to rub his arm a bit. "I mean to say... this is where their leader is hiding."
[19:36] <Santos> "Ifrit seems to want to go below, a good fight awaits that way..." Santos suddenly adds, agreeing with Morrie's observation. "Hey, Ifrit, can you show yourself, give of light with your fire, sort of like Shiva protecting us from your heat in the volcano?"
[19:36] <Santos> "Maybe Lehko's magic isn't sufficient, but with yours added to the mix..."
[19:36] <Lehko> "Shiva senses the vampire below."
[19:37] <Morrie> He turns around and indicates the door they just came from. "Did we want to check the other passage before we go?"
[19:37] <Kotono> There's a flash of fire that momentarily fights away the darkness! On Santos' shoulder is Ifrit. He snarls, "I can feel it. I can feel the disgusting presence of the vampire below." It gets a little brighter - still not really well lit, but a step above dim.

[19:37] <Lehko> "Shiva says the same."
[19:38] <Kotono> "Will you need any of my help ahead?" Ebenezer speaks up at this.
[19:39] <Santos> "You've been a help already in the fights before this, Ebenezer. I'm sure there'll be some use for you in the coming fight as well. Let's keep moving," Santos says.

[19:43] <Kotono> The steps are cold and dank. It's getting colder as you go down. It's a chill that's not enough to make your breath mist, yet chills you more than Shiva's frozen abode. The each breath is a little harder, as if you were high in the mountains. At the bottom - ahead! All around you are pools of fetid, poisoned water. Within them are dozens of tiny creatures. Dozens and dozens of hand sized wizards, each one's tentacle face silently staring at the party. In between them are hundreds of little pebbles, miniature eggs. Ahead are two. The first is another wizard! The second is a man dressed in black noble's clothes and cape, perfectly pale. Fangs jut from his mouth as he watches on. It is the wizard that speaks, in a voice that is deathly silent. It makes no sound as you yet somehow year, 'Master, the bearers of the espers arrive.' (More)

He vanishes as he laughs.

[21:05] <Kotono> The woman that comes down the stairs is familiar. It's the swamp-pouncer, running headlong to Santos. "My baby boy!" she cries, wrapping him in a hug! "You came back and saved everyone!" She squeezes him tight then pinches his cheek.

[21:06] <Morrie> "I am relieved you are all right, Missus... Santos... 's..." He blinks and frowns at that.
[21:06] <Morrie> "Miss." He adds finally.
[21:06] * Lehko chuckles under his breath.
[21:06] <Santos> "...you know, if it wasn't embarrassing enough what you did earlier while you were possessed? This, this is a lot worse, mother," Santos says flatly. "That's no way to treat a hero, you know!"

[21:09] * Santos groans, and sighs again. "I'm glad you're alright mother. What about Domingo, dad, and everyone else? Everyone back to normal now that the vampire's dead?"

[21:12] <Morrie> "Yes. We have been playing with Santos." Mycol adds without a drip of sarcasm detectable by anyone. But maybe Lehko.
[21:13] <Morrie> "We should check the rest of the cave, just to be sure we eliminated everything." Morrie adds, gesturing the way they came.
[21:13] <Santos> "Yes, Morrie is my partner, Ebenezer is our boss, and these two are the mascots," Santos says with a frown immediately after. "No meat for you two tonight!"
[21:13] <Santos> "Except Bjomolf, he was very good as usual."
[21:13] * Lehko holds Bjomolf tight as he starts to growl at Santos for that.

[21:15] <Kotono> Going up, the party finds it to be nondescript caves and basements now. There's no coffins or waterfalls, just a whole lot of people awaiting the party as they come out. Under the sunlight cheers erupt as the group emerges!
[21:18] <Morrie> "Isn't this what you wanted, Santos?" Morrie looks over at him, no malice meant in the words. "Thankful masses?"
[21:20] <Santos> "Yeah, never expected it from home though," Santos says with a snort. "Or embarrassing mom moments."

[21:21] <Lehko> "For us, anyway."
[21:22] <Santos> "I will treasure the moment your wives catch up to you and rip you limb from limb," Santos promises.
[21:23] <Lehko> "I think I will, too. For a few nights, anyway."

[21:23] <Kotono> Amid the cheers and revelry of all does the party bask in it all...but in the back of your minds, you can feel your espers stirring.
[21:24] <Morrie> He looks over at the others with a small frown. "I think the idea is that we can't stay here for very long."
[21:25] <Santos> "Ebenezer did say there were problems back at the capital," Santos says in agreement.

[21:27] <Morrie> "I think we might want to sell anything we don't need and stock up before moving on." He adds.
