[19:00] <Kotono> "Be careful out there," she says, before leaning in and hugging Santos. "You hear me!" GAH! She grabs the warrior's cheek and pinches, "Or so help me I'll chase you down in heaven and spank you!"

[19:01] <Santos> "The only way you're pulling that off is if you're supernaturally powered again, and I dearly hope that doesn't happen again. Stay safe, okay?" Santos says, not reacting to his mother's care.

[19:29] <Kotono> Thus the party passes through Palsch. As you cross the bridge...hm? Is that a moogle? Yes! There's a moogle near the middle of the bridge, momentarily gazing out at the Zamarck River. OOC: Go ahead and describe yourself, Penelo.
[19:31] <Penelo> Little wings fluttering, the moogle seems to be looking around, red poof bobbing this way and that as it adjusts a black pointed hat reflexively on top. Wearing a black robed outfit meshed with dark navy blue and gold trim with a white shirt shown underneath, the moogle lightly pats its sleeves to knock some dust off. It seems to have been rolling in some dirt voluntarily.. or involuntarily.
[19:31] <Penelo> The small batlike wings flap a few times, causing the moogle to hover for a moment. It looks over towards the group after a moment, raising a hand to wave in a 'hey, you!' manner.

[19:32] * Lehko raises an eyebrow at the little.. thing.
[19:32] <Kotono> "I saw, is that...?" Ebenezer speaks up, "No, but I know her. Penelo, is that you?" Ebenezer calls.

[19:33] * Lehko shrugs.
[19:33] <Morrie> "What would you expect a male to look like?" He looks at Santos.

[19:33] <Penelo> The moogle comes running up to them, ears twitching at hearing Ebenezer. "Ebenezer! It's been a while!" Thankfully not.. hearing the questioning words of the group.
[19:34] <Penelo> Oh, and the moogle is carrying a staff, which might possibly be bigger than the moogle itself.
[19:34] <Morrie> "Well, if he knows the moogle, then he probably knows the sex, wouldn't you say...?" He shakes his head. "It doesn't strike me as that complicated."
[19:34] <Kotono> "Indeed, indeed," Ebenezer chuckles, "It's good to see you. I only wish it was under glad tidings, but I confess that is the opposite of what we bear. Have you hear of the troubles to the west?"
[19:36] <Penelo> "The west? I heard something on my travels from others, kupo, but I've not gone to investigate myself." It's.. probably insanely hard to tell gender, even from the voice. Cute doesn't give off gender vibes, even for a moogle.
[19:39] <Morrie> "You probably ought not to." He speaks up, this time loud enough for the moogle to hear him. "We're going that way, it'd be safer if you stayed here."
[19:40] <Kotono> "It's bad," Ebenezer concurs, "Eternal night has fallen and the land is turning to putrid swamps. It would be safer," Ebenezer agrees, but pauses a moment, "How are your studies going?"
[19:41] <Penelo> "I've uh... gone on my own to discover my potential for now." She idly taps her staff with her small hands, shifting it from hand to hand a few times. "I'd learn much more from practical use than just studying in a library."
[19:41] * Lehko hears mention of academics and perks up.
[19:41] <Lehko> "Studies? Of what?"
[19:43] <Penelo> "I'm a mage in the art of the black magicks, kupo." She hops, wings fluttering to make the jump last a few seconds, suspending her in the air before letting her settle back down. "I plan on becoming the best of the best. "
[19:43] <Lehko> "Ah. Black magic."
[19:43] * Lehko slumps slightly.
[19:43] <Penelo> OOC: Someone was hoping for a red mage. (mebbe not)

[19:44] <Kotono> "Hmmm." Ebenezer continues, thoughtfully humming. "Where we're going is dangerous in the extreme. Make no mistake, a grievous battle awaits us. Still...it would be a chance for you to improve yourself, and we could use an extra hand..." Here Ebenezer trails off, letting that just hang.

[19:45] <Morrie> "I think if Ebenezer can vouch for her ability, we have no reason to not have more help in this matter." He says, affirmatively.

[19:46] <Kotono> "Exactly," Ebenezer says, "But make no mistake, this is not a battle to be taken lightly," Ebenezer says, "But we could use the help."
[19:46] <Santos> "We're going to be facing a lot of undead. Any fear of that?"
[19:47] <Penelo> "Undead? They creep me out but nothing too severe. I can help you for a time, kupo."
[19:49] <Kotono> "Then you're welcome to come, if you want the chance to improve your magic," Ebenezer offers.
[19:50] <Penelo> "Of course I do. Yes, yes."
[19:50] <Lehko> "More explosions are always welcome."
[19:50] <Santos> "Catch her up on what's going on along the way, we should keep moving," Santos suggests. "Nobody's got an issue with her coming, it looks like."

[19:54] <Kotono> From here the party heads out of Palsch and north. Soon, the plains become muggier. The sun dims and soon a perpetual twilight overtakes everything. It is as if the sun never rose, all while the ground becomes softer. Puddles of water are everywhere, soaking the grass. The grass, the plants, and the trees are all sagging, rotting. Yet you notice there are no insects, not even mosquitos in the

[19:55] * Lehko shakes some dampness out of his fur, but continues on.

[19:56] <Morrie> "This is just like the vampire... we must be getting closer to Lich's domain." He blinks, then turns to look at Santos and Ebenezer. "I have a feeling I know exactly where we are going to find them. Do you... do you both remember that door? In the mountain?"
[19:56] * Penelo will frown as she looks out over the terrain, her cheerfulness dropping noticeably the further they go on. Walking more than her random hovering. "This is a horrible thing to see..."

[19:56] <Kotono> "That's exactly what I was thinking," Ebenezer agrees, "Do we want to stop in Serrendale before that?"
[19:57] <Santos> "Before we move on, maybe we should eat now, before more fights jump us. Now that we're entering his influence, we may be getting attacked non-stop if we're not careful."

[20:03] * Penelo leans in to talk to Ebenezer. "Who is this? Or is that a story for later." speaking in a hushed tone as to not distract from the main conversation.
[20:03] <Kotono> "I honestly don't know," he says, voice rather bland and unassuming. "My Master did not tell me her mission or her motives."
[20:04] <Kotono> "That thing is a demon from hell, if the lore is correct. It only looks human," Ebenezer keeps his voice down and low, "Be on your guard."
[20:04] * Lehko doesn't take his hands awa from his guns.
[20:05] <Santos> "And how long before your master makes his play for the world and we need to deal with him as well?" Santos asks. "Nobody here will call you an ally, even while you seek Lich's demise."
[20:06] * Penelo hrms, thinking. whispers some more. "I see I see.."
[20:07] <Lehko> "You certainly can't expect us, or the espers, to trust you or your 'master.'"
[20:07] <Morrie> "Realistically, we can't actually stop him from following us, can we?" He looks at the others. "The last time, he just left without a word via magic... and here he is again. So I don't even think we need to trust him... or that he expects us to."

[20:08] <Kotono> "It matters not," The man says, face staying perfectly expressionless. There's not a hint of anything at all there, just unnaturally blank. "But for now, we both want the same thing. The seal on Lich is open and the path to his domain awaits. King Grannot has sent adventurers to explore but none have returned. Monsters from across Glacierwind Valley have traveled to Lich's domain and bolster
[20:08] <Kotono> his forces. As for that," With a look of faint displeasure, "Lich's power has grown rapidly. It is enough to keep me out and from confronting the fiend myself. Thus, you who bear the espers are the best option to defeat him."
[20:08] <Morrie> "I think... we should just move on, and if he follows us then he follows us. There's no sense in complicating it anymore." He says and shakes his head.
[20:08] <Penelo> "I agree. We should just do what we can about what we can do anything about."
[20:08] * Lehko growls low in his throat.
[20:09] <Morrie> He adds, "If he tries to attack us, then we'll defeat him, the same way we defeated the last one. He knows how strong we are."
[20:10] * Lehko snorts and moves past without a word, but continuing to growl.
[20:10] <Kotono> "Do as you please. My duty is done," He adds, "Defeat Lich or die trying, it matters little to me."
[20:10] <Morrie> "I'm sure we'll meet again." He offers and begins moving in the direction they need to go.
[20:11] * Penelo having never sat down, will move to follow after Morrie.
[20:11] * Santos snorts. "I'm sure we will too," Santos finally says, moving after Morrie.

You are almost there - it is just ahead now, wrapped in a mantle of eternal night.

[20:18] <Santos> "Then it's perhaps providence that we didn't succeed back then, and hopefully now we have the strength to succeed. Let's get this crypt opened up and beat this wrongness back to the depths of hell and away from our world."

[20:18] <Santos> "Lehko, you can provide the light again? If needed, Ifrit can help like with the vampire's caverns."

[21:49] <Kotono> Thus the party goes inside. The cave passage goes on a bit and around a bend, down a fairly long hall that slopes sharply down. The wall becomes smooth, un-rusted gray metal as you proceed down, replacing the natural earth. It's essentially unchanged from your previous visit. But when you reach the door at the end? It's ajar. Unlike before, the wooden door is old, musty and about ready to

[21:53] <Kotono> The door is kicked open! Ahead you find a narrow path of smooth metal, leading to stairs of the same. The edges of the stairs are decorated by little glass balls, each one shining withe a dull brown light.
[21:53] <Santos> "Are those glass balls going to launch themselves at high speed at our bodies as we go down the stairs?" Santos asks the resident trap triggering cat man.

[21:54] <Penelo> "I had no fear of that until you spoke up, kupo."

[21:59] <Kotono> The stairs aren't terribly long. You come into a short hall, which comes to an archway of stone. Here the metal gives way to natural earthen cave ahead, once you get past the archway. You can't see far, for even with your lights, the darkness seems resistant.

Closer...closer...closer...GOT IT!  There's a slight rush of wind and greenish light as the trap is disabled, dispersing harmlessly!
