[18:02] <@Kotono> OOC: To be clear, Little John's lost his group and just trying to find a source of shelther/food/companionship?
[18:02] <@Little-John> OOC: basically yeah, hopefully close to the PC's new village!
[18:03] <@Kotono> OOC: Okay.
[18:03] <@Kotono> roll 1d100
[18:03] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d100 and gets 80." [1d100=80]
[18:03] <@Kotono> OOC: Startw ith making a survival check and then a perception check.
[18:04] <@Little-John> roll 2#1d20+12 most of my skills have the same mod
[18:04] * Hatbot --> "Little-John rolls 2#1d20+12 most of my skills have the same mod and gets 38." [2#1d20+12 = 24, 14]
[18:06] <@Kotono> It's duskfall. Little John has had a tiresome day. His water's running out and he hasn't had any luck finding clean water today. He's hungry, sore and tired. It causes his attention to drift a little bit as he pushes through some bushes. From above, a loud birdcry is heard, followed by several others.
[18:09] <@Little-John> He's starting to wish he'd scavenged more supplies from his comrades. Robert's bow would be good for hunting, or even just some supplies... but Eric's last words of "Bury me with my money!" proved too strong to resist, and for all that there wasn't much left of his gnome friend to bury, he did the right thing in burying his grave goods along with everyone else's. Looking up at that cry, he hopes it's not vultures...
[18:10] <@Kotono> It's not vultures. It's hawks? No, that's not right. They have six legs? They're circling above Little John, about thirty feet up. They fly amid the branches and maintain a circle above him. OOC: Quick K:N check, if you have ranks.
[18:13] <@Little-John> "Nice birdies," he says, hoping he'd make too big a meal for hawks to want. Though they could peck out his eyes pretty horribly if they chose! Uncaring about the oddities of their leg count, he just keeps walking, ready to try and shield his face if they swoop down on him.
[18:16] <@Kotono> The hawks don't swoop. Instead, they stay up, but all of them position so that beaks are pointed towards him. Suddenly, the hawks spit white strands at him. It looks like spider webbing, not that Little John has time to ponder it!
[18:16] <@Kotono> roll 1d20+4 touch AC?
[18:16] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20+4 touch AC? and gets 19." [1d20=15]
[18:17] <@Little-John> OOC: 18
[18:21] <@Kotono> Gah! Webbing! Webbing all over! Strands of webbing stick to him, the hawks flying 'round and 'round him from above! He's being wrapped in webbing, about halfway covered! Not good! OOC: Act. You can try escape artist or a str check to get out, or some other shenanigans as you please. You still have arm movement since you aren't fully entangled yet.
[18:22] <@Little-John> "Wuaaah!" he yells, trying to tear the webbing off him enough to move his legs, and then be able to run!
[18:24] <@Kotono> OOC: Str check.
[18:25] <@Little-John> roll 1d20+4
[18:25] * Hatbot --> "Little-John rolls 1d20+4 and gets 20." [1d20=16]
[18:27] <@Kotono> RIIIIP! Swelling with power, Little John tears through the webbing! He's free! The hawks continue to fly above him, bird-shrieks as they keep on him. They aren't immediately trying to entangle him again, though.
[18:27] <@Little-John> He just runs randomly through the woods, hoping he can lose them! If he sees any nearby dense foliage that might thwart their flight he'll aim for that!
[18:28] <@Kotono> OOC: Make a quick hide check then.
[18:29] <@Little-John> roll 1d20+12
[18:29] * Hatbot --> "Little-John rolls 1d20+12 and gets 16." [1d20=4]
[18:31] <@Kotono> Little John dives into the bushes. He can hear the shrieks of the hawks above him, but no more attacks seem forthcoming. Then? A shrill, long whistle sounds the side. It silences the hawks, who turn and fly off in that direction.
[18:33] <@Little-John> He doesn't want to get on the wrong side of whoever commands those evil spiderbirds, but on the other hand it's better than wandering lost and alone for however long it takes to die in the forest. "Hullo?!" he calls out in that direction.
[18:35] <@Kotono> Another whistle is heard before a reply. It's a faintly lyrical voice, full of grace as it calls back, "Hello?" It speaks Common with a slight accent. There's a note of amusement in it, "Were the zygraats using you for hunting practice?"
[18:36] <@Little-John> "Oh, was it just practice?" John asks, starting to walk towards the voice, his mood lifting. "I would've let them keep at it if it was just for practice!"
[18:38] <@Kotono> "Best not. The zygraats are vicious hunters. They're also poisonous." Standing ahead of you is an elf. One of the zygraats rests on his wrist, the others perching on a nearby tree. "Hello there, humanfriend. No greeting?" He asks with a hint of amusement. "Or did you try it on the zygraats?"
[18:40] <@Little-John> "Uh, I don't speak elf," he says apologetically. Handling greetings and stuff was usually Robert's perogative. "But me name's John," he points at himself with a thumb, "Me friends call me 'Little' on account of how I'm not." His face falls expressively, "'Big' Eric, 'Young' Hubert, 'Humble' Robert... they all died when we was fighting wyverns a few days ago, and I've been on my own since." His accent is quite rustic but easily understandable.
[18:43] <@Kotono> "Damn. Some friends had a wyvern problem recently. Shame. Tindas," he offers his non-zygraated hand out, "We're less than a mile from a village. It's not safe to travel alone. Hell, look at how many zygraats I go out with."
[18:46] <@Little-John> He steps forward and shakes that hand, a conspicuously gentle grip despite how big he is, as if afraid of hurting Tindas. "We did great, the four of us... but since I've been on me own I've been scared and lonely. I wasn't sure I'd ever see another person."
[18:49] <@Kotono> "Lucky you came this way," Tindas says, "C'mon, let's move before the zygraats get restless."
[18:50] <@Little-John> "Alright," he nods, following the elf.

[18:00] <@Kotono> It's been a couple of days sincea trio of half-elven children joined the family. It's past dinner, the day's harvest work done. Everyone's tired, the den full of people relaxing. Myann's by the fire in panther form, snoozing away. A few half-elves use her as a pillow. Robert and the Missus are busy with the new children, leaving a rather beleaguered Eltia to try and keep the rowdier ones of the
[18:00] <@Kotono> brood in line. It's amid this bustle that Rashen comes up, "You two," he says, "Been meaning to talk to you."
[18:02] <Feather> "Sure thing," Feather agrees, waving him over near the fire. "Need some help with something?"
[18:02] <Gildas> "Hm?" He looks up from whatever it was he was doing, just sitting there. Meditating is probably the likely excuse.
[18:03] <@Kotono> "I'm a dragon! RAWR!" One rambunctious half-elf child leaps off a chair, Eltia dashing to catch him. Meanwhile Rashen nods slightly, "Yeah, it's about houses. We'll get a few more done before the cold sets in," he says, "Lots of hands make quick work. Are you all going to want your own houses yet?"
[18:04] <Feather> "Yeah." Feather nods slowly to himself. "Been thinking 'bout it. But I don't know about an actual farmhouse. Do we got some other option, you reckon?"
[18:06] <Gildas> "A simple room with a bed, window  and some shelves would probably be sufficient for myself." He adds, giving the question more thought and consideration.
[18:09] <@Kotono> "Yup, I figured you'd just want a cabin," Rashen says to Gildas, before turning to Feather. "What sort of house are you thinking? Also, will it be for one or two?" he casts a glance over at the snoozing Myann, rather pointedly coughing after.
[18:09] <Feather> "Don't wanna stay together, Gildas?" Feather asks him in surprise.
[18:11] <Gildas> "It is less about my wishes and more than I think you are due your privacy." He responds with a smile.
[18:13] <Feather> "If ya say so," Feather responds with a shrug, before running his hand down Myann's side, asking, "Awake?"
[18:14] <@Kotono> Myann blinks and yawns, the mushroom atop her head flopping down int her face. She blows it up with a look of feline annoyance, rising slowly. It rouses the children off of her. Amid complaints she transforms back, "I am now." She yawns again, "Paaaardon. What is it?"
[18:14] <Gildas> "I don't think we'd be that far apart anyway." He adds with a small chuckle.
[18:15] <Feather> "We're talking about designing our houses and such. Gildas wants his own private cottage thingy, but do you wanna build one together?"
[18:18] <@Kotono> Myann begins to yawn again, but that's interrupted as she sputters. As she quickly recovers, one of the brood calls, "Ooooooh! Making a house, sitting in a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G!"
[18:19] * Feather ignores the kiddies as he waits for her answer.
[18:19] <Gildas> He can do little but to politely cover his mouth.
[18:20] <@Kotono> "I-" Myann's gaze turns to the child, who just grins and runs off. "I'd like that," she says after a moment, ignoring Rashen's chuckles or the giggles that ripple through the brood. Eltia's voice is heard, "Alright children, let's all go into the kitchen for dessert!" she calls.
[18:21] <Feather> "Good to hear that," Feather tells her with a grin, before turning back to Rashen. "So what you got for us?"
[18:23] <@Kotono> "Yaaay!" That gets the focus of the brood, lead out of the room. As they hurry off to a sweet wonderland, "No matter the style, I figure a core building with lots of yard room for expansions." Grinning a little bit, pausing to take out a carrot and start wolfing that down, "If the Missus is any sign of how this spring affects families, well...lots of room for expansions."
[18:24] * Feather gives him a flat look. "Kids all ran off for dessert, I thought."
[18:25] <Gildas> That evokes a small snort, followed by a cough and a fist covering his mouth.
[18:25] <@Kotono> "I'm serious," Rashen says, finishing the carrot off. "Look, we're adults here and you two are close. When you're building, it's best to build with an idea of whta's going to happen down the line, or you'll end up doing more work to make up for it."
[18:25] <@Kotono> Myann's reddening just a little bit, finding the far wall fascinating, her gaze locked in on it. She crosses her arms under her chest.
[18:28] <Feather> "I need some room in the yard for a pretty big tree," Feather muses, hoping that helps Myann get over her embarrassment by moving to a slightly different topic. "Think we can work with that?"
[18:29] <@Kotono> "Space for an open patch of dirt," Myann turns back to the conversation, "Under some shade, somewhere I can keep moist. A basement would be better, but I'm worried about the caverns beneath us."
[18:30] <Feather> "Good point. Think we can map them out to see where basements can work?"
[18:31] <@Kotono> "Yeah, I can do that this winter," Rashen says, "Basement can be an add on, anyway. Those take the most time to build, probably best to wait on one until the spring."
[18:33] * Feather nods at his words. "Makes sense when you put it that way. Can we go for something fancy with a couple stories, while we're at it?"
[18:34] <@Kotono> Rashen nods, "The way I see it, we build the first story right off, see how we're doing for time. Worst comes to worst, you live in that until spring. I'm thinking we'll manage to get at least a second story done before winterfall, 'less we get a really earl yspring." Another carrot is produced, vanishing in great big bites.
[18:34] <Feather> "Sounds good to me. Just, been thinking about that. Mighty kind of Robert and his family to put all of us up for as long as he had. Might end up doing the same with some weary travelers some day."
[18:36] <@Kotono> "I'll get it sorted," Rashen says, "The details won't be done until tomorrow night. Got another long day ahead tomorrow, but the harvest is going fast. Should be done soon." He yawns after, Myann echoing him. "
[18:37] <Feather> "Much appreciated!"
[18:37] <Gildas> "I am curious to see the winter months around this area. I wonder what will become of the spring." He ponders.
[18:39] <@Kotono> What Myann was about to say is lost, as a loud CRASH is heard in the kitchen. She glances that way, "You all go on without me. I think Eltia's in over her head."
[18:40] <Gildas> "A noble soul." He offers with another smile.
[18:40] <Feather> So long as it's not a sudden dragon attack, it should be fine and Feather decides to head out for a bit of fresh air after a wave at them.
[18:41] <Gildas> He nods to Myann and will do the same. Hey, it isn't freezing outside yet, might as well!
[18:43] <@Kotono> OOC: Lemme pause you two for a few then, pending #evil.
[18:56] <@Kotono> Soon enough, Feather and Gildas are outside. It's an unremarkable night, cool air hardly a bother after the dragon's wintry fury. As the two chat and stand outside, you can see Tindas coming out from the forest. With him is another, an absolute giant of a man. Tindas can be heard, "Here it is," he gestures to the farmhouse, the new houses and the fields.
[18:56] * Quits: Gildas (~rscuderi@rrcs-24-227-47-10.se.biz.rr.com) (Ping timeout)
[18:58] <@Little-John> As a good farmboy he notices the fields first, smiling, "Harvest time. We used to have the best feasts at harvest time... Ma would make all kinds of pies. Apple pie, rhubarb pie, pear pie, pumpkin pie, gooseberry pie, raspberry pie... blackberry pie..." he trails off, having a harder time recollecting specific pies.
[19:00] <Feather> "Another traveler?" Feather calls out to Tindas and his new friend, musing over how ironic it is considering the conversation they just had. "Or someone looking to move?"
[19:02] <@Kotono> "Traveler," Tindas calls, waving. "Go on, :I think there's some leftover pie from dinner. They'll take care of you."
[19:02] * Feather laughs. "You just missed the kids descend on it like locust."
[19:03] <@Little-John> "Hullo!" the tall man waves at Feather. "My name's John, me friends call me 'Little' on account of how I'm not," he recites, smiling. "But... me friends all died a few days ago when we was fighting some Wyverns," he transitions to suddenly looking sad. Then just as quickly perking up, "Ma always said, pie's the thing to cheer a body up!"
[19:05] <Feather> "Sounds 'bout right," Feather agrees. "Falling Feather, go by Feather," he introduces himself back, coming over to offer John his hand. "Sounds like you had trouble. Sorry for your loss."
[19:09] <@Little-John> Gently shaking Feather's hand, John nods. "'Big' Eric, 'Young' Hubert, 'Humble' Robert... they taught me everything I know about being an adventurer. Wasn't nothing I didn't think they could do... but Young Hubert, he was old. Maybe too old to go running around the woods with us young folk. Grabbed his chest and dropped dead the middle of casting a spell, he did. We had it under control till then, but after that Humble Robert got stabbed by a tail through the belly, and even as I was beating that wyvern, the other one bit Big Eric in two. Good thing he had all thos bombs on him, he'da been happy to take his killer with him I think. Bet he's laughing up in heaven now."
[19:11] <Feather> "Had a friend torn apart by a dragon myself," Feather commiserates. "Not before he punched it clear off, though! Wherever he is now, I'd bet he's smug over it."
[19:15] <@Little-John> A kindred spirit! "Yeah, dragons... I don't like 'em," he concludes definitively. "Wanna go get some pie and tell adventuring stories? I loved listening to me friends, 'cause they'd been doing it far longer and I couldn't tell 'em any of my stories on account of them being there with me when they happened."
[19:15] <Feather> "Sure thing! Oh, this here's Gildas, he's sometimes shy around new people and likes to watch first," Feather readily agrees, introducing the newcomer and leading the way back in.
[19:31] <@Little-John> Giving Gildas a greeting, John heads on in to meet everyone else and get some pie and a drink. Despite putting on a good show, he really is incredibly hungry and thirsty.
