<Kotono> ---Good luck!---
<Kotono> roll 2d6+2 damage to all, damage reduction and other defenses don't apply to this, more coming so get the HP adjustments done while I line
* Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 2d6+2 damage to all, damage reduction and other defenses don't apply to this, more coming so get the HP adjustments done while I line and gets 7." 12 [2d6=2, 3]
<Kotono> Pain. What came before is lost and gone. What is here now is an allover ache, each of you face down on what appears to be dirt. Your vision is hazy and your senses are reeling - what just happened? Your minds are largely a blank, as if scourged clean of so much. It's a touch on the chilly side, but beyond that all of you can't see much lying down. OOC: Go ahead and describe/intro yourselves
<Kotono> and I'll line after that.
<Pepo> A stocky black cat lays on the ground with fur all puffed out, green eyes narrowed in pain and one leg outstretched to claw onto something in a death grip as if it were the most important thing in the universe. Perhaps it is, for all he knows with his current lack of context... it certainly smells delicious! As he re-gathers his wits the cat pulls its claw inwards, dragging the silver and
<Pepo> iridescent fish closer protectively as it begins to notice others nearby...
* Lucy makes a piteous noise as she starts, clothes dirtied further by her twitching. The kerchief covering her short hair slides off, but she pays it or her surroundings no heed as she tries to climb to her feet.
<Moore> Oof! Over nearby the others is a pixie who wears some interesting combination of what appears to be bardic clothing and some light armor who is currently rolling over onto his side and letting out a painful groan.
* Veren mentally groans as he levers himself up on one arm, surveying the area with his milky green eyes and seeing the others beginning to shift around, he decides the featureless face and green-grey skin he now sports would be... unwise... to be seen in and shifts to a form his mind finds easily... a human male with short-cropped hair and a goatee.
<Kotono> You're standing somewhere fairly dark. There's not much light, just enough to see by and not much more. The sky above is black, starless and empty. You're standing on a patch of dirt. Ahead of you are open fields going on and slowly rising upwards. Behind you is a steep, 40ft cliff. To the sides are rocky plains with rises and small cliffs, making it hazardous and unforgiving going in those
<Kotono> directions. It's faintly brighter ahead, and you think it gets a tad darker behind you.
* Veren eyes the others cautiously subtly working his fingers around the handle of a concealed dagger, as he eyes the others, dismissing the cat and pixie for the moment and focuses his detect thoughts ability on the still rising short-haired woman...
<Pepo> Are these his companions? Is one his owner? He feels a collar around his neck, does that mean he's someone's pet? He's unsure, the mental connection between the words is there but it's weak in his mind. They don't seem immediately dangerous, so the cat watches them carefully while beginning to gnaw on the fish it has. And what a fish! It is the best fish. Even with no memory, it must be so, for
<Pepo> nothing could possibly taste so divine!
<Lucy> Lucy's hand brushes against the handle of her axe as she reaches to rub the kinks out of her neck, and she startles, trying to get a better look at her belongings.
<Moore> "Um... Hello?" The pixie pulls himself up off the ground and tests his wings once or twice before he starts to flutter around.  "Are the rest of you alive?" OOC: Assuming his wings aren't broken.
<Kotono> OOC: Okay, does DT allow a save or spell resistance?
* Veren briefly shifts his eyes to take in the now rising pixie and cat, but going back to focus on the woman.
<Veren > OOC: Will save. Unsure about SR.
<Lucy> roll 1d20+5 no SR
* Hatbot --> "Lucy rolls 1d20+5 no SR and gets 16." 12 [1d20=11]
<Kotono> OOC: DC?
<Veren > OOC: DC 18.
<Kotono> OOC: Okay, you and Cor can handle that in PM. I trust you two to sort that.
<Veren > OOC: I need 3 rounds to get a full on DT, I believe.
<Lucy> Those scrying upon Lucy's mind while she is distracted learn that she is quite intelligent, slightly beyond what might be considered the top of human potential. Then, they would be treated to a disjointed stream of variations on 'where I am', often interrupted by 'an axe? really?'
<Pepo> The cat is manifestly alive, busily chowing down on fish, but does not deign to confirm the obvious.
<Kotono> As the party gets a hold of themselves and begins to assess...OOC: Perception, y'all.
<Pepo> roll 1d20+16 scent
<Veren > roll 1d20+12 Perception
* Hatbot --> "Pepo rolls 1d20+16 scent and gets 32." 12 [1d20=16]
<Lucy> roll 1d20+20
* Hatbot --> "Veren rolls 1d20+12 Perception and gets 13." 12 [1d20=1]
* Hatbot --> "Lucy rolls 1d20+20 and gets 27." 12 [1d20=7]
* Veren deciding that the axe-wielder is just as confused as he, but a bit more intelligent than he, he continues to monitor her as he takes in the others through more mundane sense.
<Moore> "Goodness... I wonder where we ended up?" The pixie looks up at the cliff. "Did we fall from up there? Hm..."
<Moore> roll 1d20+10
* Hatbot --> "Moore rolls 1d20+10 and gets 20." 12 [1d20=10]
<Kotono> There's noise from above, atop the cliff behind you. Footsteps. Pepo can also catch the scent of something foul and unpleasant.
<Pepo> "Mrrrooowl!" Pepo lets out a low and threatening growl, looking up at the cliff and temporarily ignoring his fish.
* Veren takes a quick glance up at where the pixie is looking, but sees nothing and goes back to focusing on the others, keeping ready and his hand on a dagger.
<Lucy> "Oh!" Lucy blinks, and cranes her head to peer up. "Hello!"
<Moore> Moore turns his attention to the cat, before he turns to peer up at the cliff.
<Kotono> OOC: Quick language check, y'all?
<Lucy> OOC: All of them
* Veren shifts a little to better square himself to the other three and simply observes them...
<Pepo> OOC: Common, Feline, Elven, Dwarven, Orcish, Goblin, Giant, Draconic, Sylvan,
<Veren > OOC: Common, Abyssal, Elven, Draconic, Celestial.
<Moore> OOC: Common, Sylvan, (Bonus: Elven, Gnome, Halfling) Gnoll, Kobold, Draconic, Orcish, Auran, Dwarven, Aquan, Terran
<Kotono> Lucy's call up causes more audible footsteps, followed by a loud grunt. What follows is in Giant, understood by Pepo and Lucy. "Fucking worthless layabouts!" it snaps, "Feet of lead and stupid! You're stupid and loud!" The sound of something hitting something is heard - the ground, perhaps.
<Moore> Moore blinks and scratches his head, not having caught any of that. "Someone sounds upset... ...maybe?"
<Pepo> That sounds like someone upset at not getting to ambush an unwary cat! So Pepo slowly blends into the shadows, vanishing from the sight of all but the most wary.
<Pepo> roll 1d20+33 stealth
* Hatbot --> "Pepo rolls 1d20+33 stealth and gets 51." 12 [1d20=18]
* Veren is hears the voices and feels a sense of alarm at the unfamiliar language and booming voice, while also being surrounded by three unknowns and uses the distraction to slip into a stealthy hide-away...
<Veren > roll 1d20+12 Stealth
* Hatbot --> "Veren rolls 1d20+12 Stealth and gets 22." 12 [1d20=10]
* Lucy pauses at the irony of a giant calling her loud, before shrugging and saying more quietly, "Hello, Mister Giant."
<Kotono> As the party reacts, there's a loud set of yips and fear, stopping at Lucy's call. "Ah fuckshitfuckityfuckingfuck." The giant (?) growls, before lumbering over to the edge. It's a muscled, bestial thing about 10ft tall, blue skinned and wearing a torn tunic that barely covers a bit of its muscular chest. It wears pants in better shape, thankfully. A truly massive club is carried along as it
<Kotono> peers down. "Couple of little ones down there, you're in Garrut's territory!"
<Kotono> OOC: KN on the creature if anyone wants to try identifying.
<Pepo> roll 1d20+18 sure
* Hatbot --> "Pepo rolls 1d20+18 sure and gets 30." 12 [1d20=12]
<Moore> roll 1d20+12 why not
* Hatbot --> "Moore rolls 1d20+12 why not and gets 23." 12 [1d20=11]
<Veren > OOC: I have dungeoneering. That apply?
<Lucy> roll 1d20+16
* Hatbot --> "Lucy rolls 1d20+16 and gets 17." 12 [1d20=1]
<Kotono> OOC: No, nature. Those two passed so info's coming anyway, at least.
<Kotono> The creature before you is an ogre mage. Pepo and Moore successfully identify it. It's tough, regenerates (fire and acid work wonders) and has spell-like abilities to pummel you with. Most are nasty and brutish types.
<Lucy> "I am ever so terribly sorry for the transgression, Mister Garrut," Lucy profoundly apologizes. "If you could just show me the way out and find it within you to forgive me...?"
<Kotono> OOC: Make a quick diplo check here, Lucy.
<Moore> Moore rubs his chin again. He just flutters around since he can't understand what's going on!
<Lucy> roll 1d20+17
* Hatbot --> "Lucy rolls 1d20+17 and gets 36." 12 [1d20=19]
<Pepo> A booming masculine resonates through the minds of Lucy, Moore, and Veren. 'Use acid or fire if you have to fight,' it commands. The cat figures he may as well go with his instincts and assumes the people he appeared here with are more friendly than the ogre.
<Moore> Moore turns around. Where did that come from?!
<Kotono> The giant looks on at Lucy and grunts, "Fine." It points its club ahead, "But you won't be so lucky next time!"
<Lucy> Lucy's surface thoughts are dominated by confusion, albeit curiously without any panic. At that response, deep satisfaction fills her.
* Veren looks for the source briefly, but decides it takes a back seat to the giant.
<Lucy> "Thank you, kind sir!" Lucy tells him pleasantly with a curtsey, and then heads in the indicated direction on her own.
<Moore> "Ah, hey, wait a minute!" Moore calls out in Common to Lucy. "What did it say?" He starts flying along with her for the time being.
* Veren decides to shadow the woman, letting her run point for him against any other giants or traps...
<Pepo> Seeing things aren't going to be dangerous, the cat returns to devouring his fish. Letting it waste would surely be a crime!
* Veren studies the woman and pixie, looking for signs of aggression or anything otherwise concerning. OOC: Sense Motive?
* Lucy feels a brief twinge of annoyance, before it is swiftly replaced with contemplation. "Ah, yes," she tells the pixie quietly, smiling at the tiny thing. "Mister Garrut asked us to be more quiet and to leave his territory."
<Moore> "Oh, I see..." He nods as he continues flying along with her. "Okay, I guess that makes sense... I'm Moore, by the way." He starts in a cheerful tone, "Nice to me--oh!" He covers his mouth then starts again, more quiet this time, "Nice to meet you!"
<Lucy> "My name is..." She pauses, tilting her head. "Lucy. Yes. Let's go with that."
<Moore> Moore smiles cheerfully. "It's nice to meet you, Lucy. I wonder where those other two went..."
<Lucy> "Who?"
<Pepo> Meanwhile the cat, having devoured most of the fleshy fish bits, severs off the head and holds it in his jaws while he creeps along after the trio of other new arrivals. The head's where most of the vitamins are! Just a shame he can remember that but not more important things...
<Moore> "Um... I think there was a ... uh... well you know, maybe it was just a regular cat, so...  I could've sworn I saw someone else though..." Moore considers. "Maybe they'll turn up once we're in a safer place."
* Veren decides to step back into view of the others, having found nothing discernably hostile about them...
<Lucy> "Like an imaginary friend?"
<Veren > "I am... Verenkilar... I believe."
* Veren tilts his head at Lucy's comment.
<Lucy> "Oh, wait, I think I'm seeing one now!"
<Moore> Moore turns around as if to get his bearings straight and then points, rather excitedly. "Oh good, I'm not just seeing things."
<Veren > "I think I have been many things... Imaginary, never, I believe."
* Lucy tilts her head herself. "If you are real and following me, does that make you my follower?"
* Veren keeps his face mostly blank, but stares Lucy in the eyes.
<Lucy> "How delightful!"
<Veren > "I do not recall having such an accord with you."
<Lucy> "I'm sure you just forgot it."
* Veren raises an eyebrow.
<Veren > "I feel disinclined to make such an agreement."
<Lucy> "Can you state, with absolute certainty, that you have not?" Lucy asks him, raising an eyebrow in turn.
<Veren > "Can you state, with absolute certainty, that we have?"
<Lucy> "Yes! I just had!"
<Veren > "No, you did not. You questioned if I was, then asserted a justification. The former belies the latter."
<Lucy> "My certainty grew as we spoke."
<Veren > "Mine did not."
<Kotono> As the party walks along, the ground slowly rises. It's perhaps a slight bit brighter here and the way on ahead stretches. The ground ahead has a few inwardly sagging holes, notably, filled with gravel and dirt.
<Moore> "Um... actually, I'm not the only one who lost his, er... most of his memory, right?" Moore asks, looking at the others. "I hope I'm not..."
<Lucy> "It's a shame." Lucy reaches out to pat the strange man on the head, before returning her attention to the state of the road and their surroundings.
<Pepo> With the increasing lack of apparent danger, Pepo follows the group more openly, still seeming nothing more than an innocent cat. 'I to cannot recall aught prior to waking with you all,' that powerful manly voice intones in the minds of the trio.
* Veren half draws his hidden dagger at her motion, but resists...
* Veren slowly turns to eye the cat, recognizing the tone of the thought from before, and taking a moment to consider, before turning forward again, but refocusing his Detect Thoughts ability on the cat...
<Kotono> OOC: Okay, make Will, Pepo.
<Pepo> roll 1d20+8
* Hatbot --> "Pepo rolls 1d20+8 and gets 9." 12 [1d20=1]
<Veren > OOC: DC 18.
<Moore> Moore blinks, then flies over to look down at Pepo as they continue on. "Was that you just now, little guy? ...Er... if you are a guy! Sorry if you're not!"
<Kotono> OOC: Hatbot is not a kittybot. Try Serith. Anyway, inform Iddy about things as needed, in character or in PM.
<Lucy> "Would you mind flying a bit higher to scout for anything out of the ordinary?" Lucy asks of the pixie.
<Moore> "Oh yeah, sure!" Moore responds with a smile. "I'll be right back!" He says before he starts to fly up to take a look around!
<Pepo> 'I am male,' the feline with the fish-head hanging out of its jaw confirms. Its inner monologue is currently contemplating what sort of bond the four shared before their apparent amnesia, while also anticipating when he feels hungry enough to eat the rest of the divine fish.
* Veren eyes the woman, recognizing the natural way she gives orders and her interaction with first the giant then himself... She is a woman used to getting what she wants.
<Kotono> OOC: Quick perception, Moore.
<Moore> roll 1d20+10
* Hatbot --> "Moore rolls 1d20+10 and gets 11." 12 [1d20=1]
<Kotono> The area ahead is full of holes - gravel and dirt filled. Several dozen over the next stretch as the ground slowly rises. Far ahead he can see what looks to be a steep cliff eventually forming, but it'll take a few hours of walking to reach, most likely.
<Moore> OOC: Going to be one of those days, I see
<Lucy> Humming cheerfully to herself, Lucy skips down the road, dodging around the gravel-filled holes.
<Moore> Moore comes back down and gestures in the direction he saw. "There's a cliff a few hours that-a-way, but that's about all I can see."
<Kotono> OOC: Okay. Quick question. Except for Moore and Pepo (since I know he won't win this), how much do each of you weigh?
<Lucy> "A cliff is fine," Lucy asserts. "Nothing else is of any interest, I take it?"
<Veren > OOC: I put down 185.
<Lucy> OOC: No idea, but probably under 130 fairly easily. I don't have anything heavy and I don't carry gear or armor.
<Moore> "Just the dirt." Moore responds. "I can look again once we've gone on a bit."
<Lucy> "Checking periodically would be a good idea!"
<Kotono> OOC: Okay. None of you have tremorsense or the like, right?
<Pepo> OOC: nope
<Veren > "No signs of civilization? Of people? No roads?"
<Lucy> OOC: Only darkvision
<Veren > OOC: Nope. Only Darkvision.
<Moore> "No, sorry!" is his response.
* Lucy busies herself by looking around curiously, Detect Thoughts summoned for the briefest of moments to study her companions.
<Veren > "That is... Concerning. We could be walking away from the nearest town and never know it."
<Lucy> "This is... adventuring, isn't it?" Lucy asks excitedly.
<Moore> "I don't think it's a good idea to stay with the angry ogre."
<Kotono> Suddenly....OOC: Perception check, Veren.
<Veren > "True. We need to look for signs of towns or villages, and urgently."
<Veren > roll 1d20+12 Perception
* Hatbot --> "Veren rolls 1d20+12 Perception and gets 16." 12 [1d20=4]
<Kotono> The ground beneath Veren begins to crumble, falling beneath him. It catches him off guard! OOC: Ref save, -3.
<Moore> OOC: Can I use one of my item abilities to give him a bonus to the save?
<Veren > roll 1d20+13-3 Ref Save
* Hatbot --> "Veren rolls 1d20+13-3 Ref Save and gets 19." 12 [1d20=9]
<Kotono> OOC: Which item is it, Moore?
<Kotono> OOC: Never mind, he passed so we'll bypass that for not.
<Kotono> *now
<Moore> OOC: OK
<Kotono> But Veren is just a little bit faster, managing to leap back and out of the collapse. Another hole forms below him, the ground around it crumbling inwards. Soon dirt and gravel fill it, just like the others.
* Lucy blinks, calling upon her ability to see magic.
<Veren > OOC: Another save?
<Kotono> OOC: No, you're safe now.
<Kotono> Lucy doesn't see any magic from the hole. OOC: You can see the normal magic on the others, if you want to go along with Iding their things.
<Moore> "Woah, be careful everyone!" Moore calls out, suddenly recalling that he can motivate that sort of thing from people. OOC: Turning on Motivate Dexterity officially, which ...doesn't do anything for Reflex saves, but just in case, it's there!
* Veren scrambles away from the collapse, and rises to his feet, pausing for a moment in a ready stance, eyes scanning the ground around him before relaxing brushing dust off of his clothes.
<Pepo> A soft chime is heard from Pepo's location, though the cat doesn't appear any different. OOC: manifesting psionic freedom of movement
<Lucy> "How strange."
<Veren > "... I dislike this place."
<Pepo> roll 1d20+18 geography, can any natural process cause this stuff?
* Hatbot --> "Pepo rolls 1d20+18 geography, can any natural process cause this stuff? and gets 22." 12 [1d20=4]
<Kotono> OOC: Done Pepo.
<Kotono> Pepo can see this is a place of natural sinkholes. The ground's like swiss cheese beneath the surface. One wrong step and its collapse time. At least the ground's dry and coarse, otherwise it might be quicksandy.
<Pepo> 'These are natural sinkholes,' Pepo's distinctive 'voice' intones. 'Do you all wish to proceed, or choose another path?' He then raises his hind leg up and licks himself. 'It is no concern to me.'
<Lucy> "How far away is that cliff, again?"
<Pepo> *After dropping the fishhead anyway.
<Moore> "Preeeetty far." Moore responds.
<Veren > "See if you can spot any trace of people nearby. Aside from us."
<Moore> Moore nods and heads up to take a look around again! This time focusing on any signs of people... or fire, or really anything other than dirt and trees!
<Kotono> OOC: Perception again.
<Moore> roll 1d20+10
* Hatbot --> "Moore rolls 1d20+10 and gets 15." 12 [1d20=5]
<Kotono> Nothing of note - save for at the very edge of his vision. There's a small tower rising up atop the faraway cliff.
<Moore> Moore squints once before he spirals back down to the others. "There's a tower on that cliff. I think that's our best bet."
<Lucy> "Ahead it is, then!"
<Pepo> Picking up his lucky fish-head, Pepo resumes padding unconcernedly across the sinkhole-riddled terrain.
<Kotono> OOC: Okay. Any special precautions or anything here, y'all?
<Veren > OOC: Watch for any early signs?
<Pepo> OOC: if my geography knowledge can spot bad spots I'll point them out. Otherwise nope.
<Moore> OOC: None that I can think of.
<Kotono> OOC: Okay. Perception anyone on the ground and also make K:G, Pepo.
<Lucy> roll 1d20+20
* Hatbot --> "Lucy rolls 1d20+20 and gets 40." 12 [1d20=20]
<Pepo> roll 1d20+16 perception
* Hatbot --> "Pepo rolls 1d20+16 perception and gets 21." 12 [1d20=5]
<Pepo> roll 1d20+18 geography
* Hatbot --> "Pepo rolls 1d20+18 geography and gets 32." 12 [1d20=14]
<Veren > roll 1d20+12 Perception
* Hatbot --> "Veren rolls 1d20+12 Perception and gets 19." 12 [1d20=7]
<Moore> roll 1d20+10
* Hatbot --> "Moore rolls 1d20+10 and gets 20." 12 [1d20=10]
<Moore> OOC: Oh, sorry, I'm not... on the ground, am I
<Moore> OOC: Silly me.
<Kotono> Between Lucy's ears and Pepo's knowledge, three hours of careful travel pass without incident. The dark sky doesn't change, but it does get lighter. It comes from the direction of the cliffs, a steady radiance. Ahead is a worn dirt path leading to the tower, about 150ft away and just before the edge of the cliffs.  It seems even brighter past the cliffs, but you'd have to climb up and look to
<Kotono> have a good idea.
* Lucy has fearlessly lead the way over, showing no doubts. Right now, however, she frowns at the thought of actually climbing a cliff.
<Moore> Moore will fly along ahead to take a peek at whatever is glowing so brightly!
<Pepo> The cat has little concern about the cliff, starting to climb up and jump from outcrop to outcrop as he scales it with natural feline finesse.
<Pepo> roll 1d20+17 climb
* Hatbot --> "Pepo rolls 1d20+17 climb and gets 19." 12 [1d20=2]
<Kotono> OOC: No climb checks needed, more coming if you're approaching.
* Veren considers transforming, but doesn't know enough about these... others... to reveal that much of himself yet and instead begins working his way towards the tower.
<Kotono> Thus the party approaches the tower and cliff. As you do, you at last see over the cliff. (More)
<Kotono> The cliff plunges easily a thousand feet down, a sheer drop. Ahead is growing brightness. Near the cliffs are spread out farms, like a pattern of square fields this high up. Past that is a city that sprawls and clings to the edge of the ocean. But here is no ocean - a massive city grows around a sea of pure light and radiance. As if the ocean was ablaze in a white glow, coating the city in
<Kotono> brightness and the farms in light, fading as you go farther from it. Yet you can see black-sailed ships sailing on that sea of light. It shines so high as to illuminate the otherwise dark sky above the ocean, which glitters with tremendous radiance.
<Pepo> "Mew," the cat gives a surprised little noise at going from wastes to civilization so abruptly.
<Lucy> "Since we are adventurers, we would be remiss if we did not try to properly explore the tower here for any treasure before heading down," Lucy decides.
<Moore> "I... uh... wow!" Is Moore's response. "That's... wow, sure a thing!"
* Veren eyes the city for a moment more before turning to inspect the tower.
<Pepo> Is there an obvious door to the tower?
<Kotono> The tower's a sturdy tower made of unremarkable red brick. It has a wooden door that's firmly closed. No windows or anything like that.
<Pepo> In any case, after all that walking Pepo settles down to quickly munch on the nutritious fish-head.
* Veren steps up to the door and inspects it, looking for a lock or a trap.
<Kotono> OOC: Quick Perception check.
<Veren > roll 1d20+12 Perception
* Hatbot --> "Veren rolls 1d20+12 Perception and gets 19." 12 [1d20=7]
<Kotono> The door's locked - from the inside, looks like. It's not trapped, per se, but it is also enchanted to be tougher, harder to force down. The door may be wood, but it would be as hard as moving a giant slab of stone.
<Veren > "Hmmm.. A bit of enchantment for toughness. Locked from the inside. Someone's inside, then. Do you wish me to open it?"
* Lucy comes over and knocks, calling out loudly, "Hello! Is anyone there?"
<Moore> "I might be able to do something about that." Moore says as he looks over at the door, waiting for Lucy to see if anyone answers it.
<Kotono> From the door a head pops out. A head made wholly of stone, bearded and scowling. It looks right at Lucy and rumbles in Terran, "What do you want?"
<Lucy> "Greetings!" she chirps. "Please excuse my intrusion, good sir, but could you tell me where I find myself?"
* Veren steps away from the door, letting Lucy get the attention, and positions himself for a strike in case the... thing... decides to step out and attack.
<Moore> Moore turns to the others and whispers in Common, but can probably be overheard by the owner of the tower. "Lucy is asking where we are."
<Kotono> "Rossalund," It rumbles back, "Is down there. Here is the dim. Ahead is the dark."
<Lucy> "And what lies past the dark?"
* Veren focuses on stone-thing and uses Detect Thoughts...
<Kotono> roll 1d20+7
* Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20+7 and gets 25." 12 [1d20=18]
> OOC: Damn.
<Kotono> The creature is of average intelligence (int 10) and does indeed have thoughts. Reading them seems beyond Veren at the moment. "The dark and more dark," it answers, "You're new," he grunts, "Go hide in Rossalund. You won't survive out here."
* Lucy tilts her head. "Is it a human city, then?"
<Moore> "Um, sorry to interrupt!" Moore says in Terran, "Does everyone who comes here lose their memory?"
<Kotono> "It's a city of everyone, but mostly the medusas. They run it. Don't make trouble and they won't make trouble for you." The head turns to Moore, "Yes. Now if that's all." It doesn't wait for an answer, head going back through the door and out of sight.
* Lucy frowns at Moore. "Wouldn't you say that a better question would have been, how do people get all the way down the cliff safely?"
<Moore> "I'm sure there's a path down there somewhere! I could always just fly and look for one from the bottom and find my way back up!" He says, full of confidence!
<Lucy> "Please do so, then."
* Veren frowns at this mildly, but decides to wait for the apparent scout.
<Kotono> OOC: How far are you going to fly, Moore?
<Moore> OOC: I guess I'll fly over the edge and look along the top to see if there's a path that leads down from there. If not, I'll start flying down and back along the other side until I find something.
* Pepo (Ebiris@cpc9-sgyl30-2-0-cust73.sgyl.cable.virginm.net) Quit (Ping timeout )
<Moore> OOC: and kill poor Pepo on the way
<Kotono> It's pretty much a straight drop down. There's no path nearby. The cliff continues sharply on either side for a goodly while. To the right, it eventually curves inward towards a swamp and the swinging back around to the farms and Rossalund.  The swamp is sparkling with the bright ocean that feeds into it. To the left it hooks around into long cliffs and eventually onto sandy beaches, and around
<Kotono> to the city. Interestingly, the beach is full of statues. There must be a good half a hundred you can see casually, and probably more beyond that.

<Moore> OOC: So it looks like they could go along the cliffside and eventually pass the swamps and get down, or am I misunderstanding?
<Kotono> OOC: Yes, or the beach. Either would be a fairly lengthy trip, though.
<Moore> Moore flies back up and takes a breath before he starts to explain. "First and foremost! The big place down there is called Rossalund, I don't know if you two caught that from the exchange." He nods and then continues, "If we continue on in either direction from here, we will eventually make our way down there, but it's going to be a pretty long trip. I... might have something that can get us
<Moore> down a little faster. Maybe."
<Lucy> "Like a teleport spell?"
<Pepo> 'I could climb down easily,' Pepo makes sure to tell everyone as he polishes off his fish-head. 'But we are all in the same position, I will go with you.'
<Veren > "What is your idea, Moore?"
<Moore> Moore shakes his head. He digs a lyre out of a backpack he's carrying. "I think I can build us a stairway down."
<Lucy> "How about a demonstration?"
<Moore> "Sure!" Moore nods and looks up, tapping his foot on nothing but air for a moment. "Okay, let's see if this works! One, two, three, four..." With that, he starts to play a few chords on the lyre. It sounds like a very up-beat, inspirational sort of piece. OOC: I'm invoking the Lyre of Building to try and build us stairs that go down the cliff to the ground below.
<Kotono> OOC: To be perfectly honest, I have no idea if 100 people could make a stair that long in 3 days. I'll have to look some stuff up and make a ruling. Since it's near quitting time and we started early, we'll pause here so I can detangle this at leisure.

This is not the greatest post in the world, no... this is just a tribute.
