I have a dream that one day, men will be punched in the face not for the color of their skin, but for the awful content of their character.

Session Start: Mon Nov 03 12:35:49 2014
Session Ident: #evildunes
* Now talking in #evildunes
* Topic is 'Muirfinn(41)>Lief(35)>Balyss(28)>Simmer(27)>??(17)>Tepen(14) '
* Set by Kotono on Mon Jun 16 18:44:52
<Kotono> ---
<Kotono> OOC Anything to mitigate fall damage or the like, Veren?
<Veren > OOC: Um, I could shape shift into something with wings, but I haven't been exposed to anything like that, so unless you allow something from before I lost my memory... Nope! Unless acrobatics, maybe.
<Kotono> OOC: A successful acrobatics check can remove 1d6 from it, at least. Roll one.
<Veren > roll 1d20+10 Acrobatics!
* Hatbot --> "Veren rolls 1d20+10 Acrobatics! and gets 11." 12 [1d20=1]
<Kotono> roll 6d6 ow no love
* Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 6d6 ow no love and gets 23." 12 [6d6=3, 5, 6, 5, 1, 3]
<Veren > OOC: Welp, so much for that.
<Kotono> WHAM! Veren's world is pain. He hits something solid, hard. Stars of light dance under his closed eyelids. It's so bright here. His eyes ache even with them closed. Yet right next to him he hears a voice, "We got a live one! Welcome to the crew, lad," The voice is deep and mocking, that of an old sailor. Not that Veren has time to react to it before...(More)
<Kotono> roll 1d20+8 AC? Flatfooted unless you have the uncannies.
* Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20+8 AC? Flatfooted unless you have the uncannies. and gets 14." 12 [1d20=6]
<Veren > OOC: 25, Uncanny dodge
<Kotono> By pure instinct, Veren rolls out of the way. His eyes are still shut - it's incredibly bright even through them, his eyes hurting like hell. But he dodges, feeling like he's on something solid. Wood, perhaps. OOC: Init here.
<Veren > roll 1d20+4 Init
* Hatbot --> "Veren rolls 1d20+4 Init and gets 22." 12 [1d20=18]
<Kotono> roll 1d20+5
* Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20+5 and gets 16." 12 [1d20=11]
* Kotono changes topic to 'Veren(22)>???(16) '
<Kotono> OOC: Open Veren. It's a free action to open your eyes if you want to, but it's really bright even with them closed. Open them at your peril.
<Veren > OOC: Even with the veil?
<Kotono> OOC: Yes.
* Veren keeps his eyes closed, but reaches for his new wand to heal some of his wounds.
<Kotono> OOC: Sec.
<Kotono> OOC: UMD then, since you're UMDing, right? Had to check if it provokes, it doesn't.
<Veren > roll 1d20+10 UMD check
* Hatbot --> "Veren rolls 1d20+10 UMD check and gets 16." 12 [1d20=6]
<Kotono> OOC: Using a wand is DC 20, so no joy.
<Kotono> Veren tries to invoke the wand blind, but nothing happens. OOC: ??? is up. Sec.
<Kotono> As Veren stumbles and grasps, he hears laughs all around him. It's followed by...
<Kotono> roll 1d20+8 AC?
* Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20+8 AC? and gets 11." 12 [1d20=3]
<Kotono> But Veren hears something and brings the wand up. There's the sound of metal on wood, a mere foot above his neck. Meanwhile, there's a soft THUMP nearby him. OOC: More.
<Kotono> roll 5d6 includes -1d6 for acrobatics
* Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 5d6 includes -1d6 for acrobatics and gets 15." 12 [5d6=1, 1, 6, 2, 5]
<Kotono> Pepo hits hard, eyes instinctively shut. Too bright. Painfully bright. His eyes shut on pure instinct as he lands. He hears laughter around him as...OOC: Roll init, going to deal with the other room's round now
<Pepo> roll 1d20+6
* Hatbot --> "Pepo rolls 1d20+6 and gets 20." 12 [1d20=14]
* Kotono changes topic to 'Veren(22)>Pepo(20)>???(16) '
<Kotono> OOC: Wait for me to prompt your next turn, Veren.
<Kotono> A snarled curse in Common is followed by, "You damned slug, stop slithering...and a cat?" It says, "An actual land cat?" OOC: Veren, go.
* Veren still being blinded tries to once again use the wand!
<Veren > roll 1d20+10 UMD check
* Hatbot --> "Veren rolls 1d20+10 UMD check and gets 11." 12 [1d20=1]
<Kotono> Ugh! The dagger hit jostles it in his hand, the spell matrix of the wand unstabilizing. Veren nearly gets a load of uncontrolled magic, but stops it at the last minute. OOC: Your connection with the wand is all munged up. Pepo, go. Eyes closed but free to open them if you like.
<Pepo> Hopefully light is not permeable through the deck even if they are. So Pepo tries to reduce the level down to 5% in an area around himself about 50 square feet.
<Pepo> And ten feet tall.
<Kotono> Suddenly both Veren and Pepo are greeted by slow clearing darkness. The painful light that goes through closed eyelids lessens, as you hear dozens of cries. "Aaaaye! Argh! Me eyes!" The voice of Veren's attacker cries.
<Pepo> Pepo opens his eyes and then immediately darts for a place to hide!
<Pepo> roll 1d20+33 stealth
* Hatbot --> "Pepo rolls 1d20+33 stealth and gets 51." 12 [1d20=18]
<Kotono> Pepo's vision isn't right. He's dazzled and can see he's in some sort of ship's hold. Barrels, yes there's a barrel. There's many shapes of light around, writhing. But Pepo just darts out of sight. OOC: Dazzled until further notice, but penalties are doubled. ??? is up.
<Kotono> "Damn you!" he cries, as no further attack is forthcoming right away. But another voice intones, smooth and rich, "What is this? Someone still resists?" The chuckle sends a chill down your spines, as if winter reached out and touched you. "Please don't die quickly, it's been some time." Pepo can hazily see the creature - man shaped with skin the color of dark bronze. He has curly hair down
<Kotono> to his shoulders and a grin with notable canines. HE's clad in a light blue robe and carries no weapon. His eyes are closed. OOC: Adding him to init, was rolled secretly due to disorientation. Going to other room now to update them
<Kotono> .
* Kotono changes topic to 'Veren(22)>Pepo(20)>???(16)>Bronze skinned creature(11) '
<Kotono> OOC: Roll init, Lucy. You'll appear then and be able to act.
<Lucy> roll 1d20+4
* Hatbot --> "Lucy rolls 1d20+4 and gets 12." 12 [1d20=8]
* Kotono changes topic to 'Veren(22)>Pepo(20)>???(16)>Lucy(12)>Bronze skinned creature(11) '
<Kotono> OOC: Go Veren.
* Veren hesitantly opens his eyes, trying to take in the room and see his enemies.
<Kotono> OOC: Same double powered dazzle as Pepo. More details coming in a sec.
<Kotono> It's a ship's store room. Ancient barrels are about. Figures sit on them, figures o flight writhing. Besides you is a figure of light with a dagger. The radiance from it is starting to fade, looking vaguely like a sailor with a knife. 20ft away is the bronze-skinned man. OOC: Go Veren.
* Veren reaches for one of his scrolls of magic weapon, intending to hopefully use it to be effective against the things!
<Kotono> OOC: UMD away.
<Veren > roll 1d20+10 UMD
* Hatbot --> "Veren rolls 1d20+10 UMD and gets 11." 12 [1d20=1]
* Kotono sets mode: +b *!*@cpe-68-203-15-105.austin.res.rr.com
* Hatbot was kicked by Kotono (Wow man. )

* Kotono sets mode: -b *!*@cpe-68-203-15-105.austin.res.rr.com
<Kotono> But Veren's eyes are still bad, and he bungles the spell. As he struggles with it...OOC: Pepo
<Kotono> .
<Pepo> Pepo remains hidden and keeps the brightness down while hoping others actually deal with the threat. It's all he can do.
<Kotono> The sailor stumbles and swears, taking a wild swing at Veren.
<Kotono> roll 1d100 vs 51 or higher to even hit in the first place. Will roll if it makes this.
<Serith> Kotono roll for Serith < 73 > 12 [d100=73]
<Kotono> roll 1d20+6
<Serith> Kotono roll for Serith < 14 > 12 [d20=8]
<Kotono> But the wild swing is completely errant, missing Veren by several feet. "You dirty trickster!" OOC: Lucy.
<Lucy> First, it is a matter of getting into a good position. And then her wings come out to play, and Lucy strikes at any enemy she can possibly see, whether they are actively attacking Veren or not!
<Lucy> OOC: Wings of flurry, do I roll miss chance or SR?
<Kotono> OOC: Link me.
<Kotono> OOC: No and no. It's force so no miss chance.
<Kotono> roll 1d20+5 sailor
<Serith> Kotono roll for Serith < 17 > 12 [d20=12]
<Kotono> roll 1d20+8 evasion bronze skinned man
<Serith> Kotono roll for Serith < 16 > 12 [d20=8]
<Lucy> roll 8d6 ref DC23 half
<Serith> Lucy roll for Serith < 25 > 12 [d6=1,2,5,6,1,1,3,6]
<Kotono> The blast of force hits hard. The shapes of light are all broken apart, while the sailor is dazed. The bronze-skinned man holds a hand out and utters a word of magic, causing a field of force to appear around him. It momentarily holds the field at bay and he smirks - before it breaks through and slams into him hard. OOC: Ow. Both are dazed for a round. Veren's up, go.
* Veren grinds his teeth in frustration and grabs his second scroll, giving it one last try!
<Veren > roll 1d20+10 UMD
<Serith> Veren roll for Serith < 19 > 12 [d20=9]
* Lucy is the one to smirk at his dumbfounded expression.
<Kotono> Veren works with the scroll, but can't quite get it to work. Meanwhile...OOC: Pepo.
<Pepo> Pepo keeps hiding and concentrating.
<Kotono> The sailor growls and curses, "You little landgrubbing bitch!" he snaps, before charging half blind at Lucy.
<Kotono> roll 1d100 51+ or this is irrelevant
<Serith> Kotono roll for Serith < 17 > 12 [d100=17]
<Kotono> OOC: It's irrelevant.
<Kotono> He charges and swings, but hits a nearby barrel instead of Lucy. OOC: Go Lucy.
<Lucy> roll 1d20+12 acrobatics to avoid AoO as I walk to Veren
<Serith> Lucy roll for Serith < 30 > 12 [d20=18]
<Lucy> "Oh, do give me that, Veren," Lucy says, stepping over to the man and reaching for the scroll that confounds him. It is a simple matter to then use it on the dagger he is also holding, as she had familiarized herself with its magic earlier.
<Kotono> OOC: Okay, magic weaponed, Veren. Bronze guy is up.
<Kotono> Snarling as his body is wracked by wings of force, "Okay then, just die," he says sourly, a gesture at Lucy followed by a gout of steaming green acid right at her.
<Kotono> roll 1d20+10 touch AC?
<Serith> Kotono roll for Serith < 25 > 12 [d20=15]
<Lucy> OOC: Not that
<Kotono> roll 9d6 acid damage and Fort
<Serith> Kotono roll for Serith < 39 > 12 [d6=3,1,3,5,6,5,6,6,4]
<Lucy> roll 1d20+7
<Serith> Lucy roll for Serith < 24 > 12 [d20=17]
<Kotono> OOC: Just full damage, no further effect.  The ow. Got any energy res?
<Lucy> OOC: Of course!
<Kotono> The acid hits Lucy head on. She's scalded and burnt all over her front, steam and the scent of cooking meat joining the foul odor of acid. As the party chokes on it...OOC: Veren, go.
<Veren > OOC: The sailor of light is next to me and the bronze dude is 20 ft.?
<Lucy> "That was hardly neighborly of you!" she exclaims, skin showing a deal more resistance than one might expect from such a horrific attack. "I'm afraid you will have to be punished!"
<Kotono> OOC: Yes.
<Kotono> OOC: Next to Lucy, I mean. for the sailor. Excuse me.
* Veren moves towards the bronze skinned man, lashing out with his now magical blade!
<Veren > roll 1d20+12 ATK
<Serith> Veren roll for Serith < 32 > 12 [d20=20]
<Kotono> OOC: Crit confirm.
<Veren > roll 1d20+12 Crit confirm
<Serith> Veren roll for Serith < 25 > 12 [d20=13]
<Kotono> OOC: That's a crit. Double damage.
<Veren > roll 2d4+4 Damage
<Serith> Veren roll for Serith < 7 > 12 [d4=2,1]
<Kotono> With a snarl, the man brings up his shield as Veren approaches. But Veren just kicks him in the gut instead, doubling him over. It offers the back of his head up perfectly to Veren, and who is he to ignore that? He plunges his dagger right on in, piercing through the back of his skull and into the man's brain. He topples over forward, dead as a doornail. OOC: Free act.
<Kotono> OOC: Check that, sailor's still alive. Sorry, tired today. Pepo.
<Pepo> Pepo keeps doing what he's doing.
* Lucy blinks twice at the sight. "So this is the caliber of the local mages?" she muses out loud, tapping her chin thoughtfully.
<Kotono> The sailor groans before simply slipping below the floor and out of sight. OOC: Free act now, it withdrew.
<Lucy> "Would you care to inspect our surroundings, Veren?" Lucy asks politely, creating a sensor midway up the tunnel to take a peek at Moore's progress. "I'm making certain that you two can return safely once we choose to leave."
<Pepo> Pepo creeps out of hiding and towards the others, sniffing around dubiously. Nothing here looks real to his eyes, more like an illusion that's been disturbed. Does any of it smell real?
* Veren nods to Lucy and searches the area, and body, for anything of interest.
<Kotono> Meanwhile, Moore has gotten a rope and is lowering it down. No suction this time, at least. Everything smells real here - even the bronze skinned man, who smells like ash and smoke. Ugh.
<Lucy> Progress. She'll watch intermittently, casting Detect Magic in the meantime.
<Kotono> OOC: Post.
* Veren takes the items he finds and puts them in his pack for now.
<Lucy> roll 1d20+16
<Serith> Lucy roll for Serith < 24 > 12 [d20=8]
<Kotono> The deck has been enchanted to be intangible. It'll last about 30 minutes or so. Meanwhile, Moore comes down on the wings of rope.
<Veren > "Do you need my rope?"
<Lucy> "Interesting," Lucy muses. "A magic I'm familiar with, though the duration is-- yes, you have half an hour or so before the deck becomes solid once more. I believe it gives us twenty minutes to explore?"
* Veren nods.
* Lucy takes a look at any doorways further in.
<Veren > "Since... I am currently unable to use them, do either of you want my scroll and healing wand?"
<Lucy> "Ah yes, we might as well," Lucy agrees. "Moore, would you mind taking care of the healing as we walk?"
<Kotono> There's a door going out of the room. Looks like a ship's door, unremarkable. OOC: Roll the healing and such?
* Veren hands the wand and scroll to Moore.
<Moore> Moore shakes the wand once as if to test it out, then gets to using it.
<Moore> roll 1d8+5 Moore
<Serith> Moore roll for Serith < 8 > 12 [d8=3]
<Moore> roll 2#1d8+5 Lucy
<Serith> Moore roll for Serith < 8, 9 >
<Moore> roll 2#1d8+5 Pepo
<Serith> Moore roll for Serith < 9, 12 >
<Moore> roll 2#1d8+5 Veren
<Serith> Moore roll for Serith < 8, 11 >
This is not the greatest post in the world, no... this is just a tribute.
