* Set by Kotono on Wed Nov 19 21:39:16
<Kotono> > "It's no great secret," she offers, "Any of you are welcome to study it. It's actually extremely well studied."
<Kotono> <Lucy> How nice! She casts Detect Magic and looks everywhere she possibly can!
<Kotono> <Veren> "You have texts on mental abilities as well?"
<Kotono> <Moore> Moore decides to follow suit with Lucy and casts the same Detect Magic spell!
<Kotono> <Moore> OOC: I'll also give her a +2 bonus with Inspire Competence.
<Kotono> OOC: Spellcraft, Lucy. +2 from Moore.
<Lucy> roll 1d20+17+2
* Hatbot --> "Lucy rolls 1d20+17+2 and gets 39." 12 [1d20=20]
<Kotono> Lucy settles in, takes a few minutes to observe the circle. It's indeed a permanent teleportation circle. Fascinating to study - nothing groundbreaking as far as theory goes, more of established practice performed superbly. You can note it's well supported and resistant to being dispelled, as it's clear whomever made it did not want it to be easily ruined. She could spend hours here, just studying
<Kotono> every nook and cranny of the arcane masterpiece before her. Unfortunately for that, Pepo catches up. OOC: Go ahead, Pepo.
<Lucy> "Oh, what a lovely masterpiece!" Lucy coos, deeming it worthy of her.
<Pepo> Pepo saunters in and sits himself before the others. 'Two things,' his voice booms into their minds. 'This city will be attacked by the pirates that destroyed Rosslund within the week. And this is when Lost Hero will be at his most vulnerable.'
* Veren eyes the... cat... before responding.
<Kotono> In the meantime Veren gets a nod back," Of course," she says. But further discussion is paused as she sees Pepo. "Your familiar?" she asks.
* Lucy sends a lengthy stream of explitives back to Pepo telepathically at that proclamation.
<Veren > "Well, the pirates are an issue, but the hero... Do we honestly care? We've done nothing to garner his attention, and as far as I am concerned, he's mostly not worth our time."
<Lucy> "You did say we were missing a cat, Miss Aria," Lucy voices, her smile strained.
<Pepo> Ignoring the guide, Pepo remains impassive in the face of Lucy's invective. 'I have encountered one who has been oppressed by Lost Hero, personally he offends me. I would be pleased to see him dead. Or humiliated... humiliated would be nice.'
* Veren grunts.
<Kotono> "Wait, pirates?" Aria's attention turns to Veren, "What is this about pirates?"
* Lucy tilts her head. "This might be a strange question," she tells Aria, "but have you ever encountered a group flying a green teardrop flag?"
<Veren > "I have no issues helping, but if he's over-stepped his bounds, should we not take this up with a guard or magistrate?"
<Moore> Moore frowns at Pepo's words... ...thoughts, whatever. "I would prefer if we did something to help this time, if we are able."
<Pepo> 'Any local authority will surely be indisposed by the pirate attack,' Pepo reasons.
* Veren turns to Moore.
<Veren > "Well... Hmm... If the city's diviners are as good as they claim, we can use them to find out where we'd be the most good in the fight."
<Pepo> 'If they have not forseen this pirate attack I would not credit them that much,' Pepo says haughtily, his tail swishing behind him.
<Moore> "...Actually, shouldn't... I mean, this seems rather impactful, don't you think? Shouldn't they be more concerned about all of this?" Moore asks, then nods to Pepo. "Or that."
* Veren nods to Pepo.
<Kotono> Aria listens and crosses her arms, "I have not, but if there is some manner of attack coming, our seers would have seen it already," she remarks.
> "Perhaps. But we've only been here a day. Would we really be privy to that informatio already?"
<Lucy> "Could we check in with your seers after a tour of the library?"
<Moore> "How did you find out about this, Mister Pepo?" Moore asks.
<Pepo> 'I divined it,' Pepo answers, implicit condemnation of these 'seers' in his mental tone.
* Veren turns to Aria.
<Veren > "Given our... history... with these events, I would give his divination significant weight."
<Moore> Moore nods. "Okay. Then let's go with Miss Lucy's plan."
<Kotono> This gets Aria to frown, "I would cast this aside as nothing - but wisdom suggests taking it more seriously than that. I'm afraid the library tour will be postphoned," she says briskly, "Tell me everything."
<Lucy> Mere words cannot describe all the hate Lucy feels, but she tries to convey it with a glance directed at Pepo all the same.
<Moore> Oh, Lucy isn't going to be happy about that... Moore shifts his position uncomfortably. "On... the bright side, if it is true, then we might be able to raise in the ranks by contributing to the safety of the city!"
* Veren nudges Lucy.
<Pepo> 'We were newborn near Rosslund, a few days later it was razed by pirates under the flag of a green teardrop,' Pepo deigns to include the tour-guide in his mental broadcast. 'I recently divined that their flag will fly over the towers above.'
<Veren > "Not his fault. Rather his warning now and the library be saved for later, than no warning and it be destroyed completely."
<Kotono> Aria is silent at Pepo's words. She instead considers them, "This is...interesting," she finally says, heading back the way you came. "Come with me."
<Moore> "What was that guy's name again that we met on the boat? Purple... something?" Moore scratches the side of his head as he follows along with the others. "Wind, I think?"
<Lucy> "Where do you want me to come?" Lucy asks Aria, before all else.
<Veren > "Purple Wind."
<Pepo> 'Yes,' Pepo agrees, that matching his recollection. He really doesn't care much about this town other than to hopefully do something terrible to Lost Hero, but this place seems important to Lucy so he allows himself to be led along.
<Kotono> Back out and into another door, into a pleasant room. A half-hour blurs by in walking, sitting and waiting. It's a pleasant waiting room, dominated by a wall that's not a wall, but instead a glass fish tank. Fish of all sizes and colors swim in it, unseen light providing illumination for it.
<Kotono> OOC: Gah, premature.
"Just wait here shortly," Aria says, departing. Soon another comes to see you - a massive man nearly 15
<Kotono> feet tall, humanoid and with deep brown skin. He wears a turban with a chocolate brown diamond the size of a fist in the front. Trails of brown smoke follow after him as he walks in. He steps in and sweeps into a deep bow, showing off his rich nobleman's clothes and jewelry. "I am Flanagan who is not Flanagan," he waits a beat before chuckling, "No no, that was in your past, not your future. I
<Kotono> am Jetina who is not Jetina. No no, that's in your future." He snaps his fingers, "I'm Rocky. Yes yes, I'm a spirit of the earth by nature and a seer by trade. So what's this about green teardrop pirates?"
<Pepo> 'They'll control this town within the week,' Pepo says disinterestedly, getting bored of explaining their imminent doom.
<Kotono> "Eh?" Jetina mutters, but mostly stays quiet otherwise.
<Veren > "They burned Roussland as well."
<Moore> One of these days, he's really going to figure out who this Flanagan who isn't Flanagan person really is... Moore nods to Pepo. "They seem very adept at dealing with mages, or... at least, experts at countering whatever protections Rossalund had in place. They may have had spies working for them in Rossalund who were not satisfied with how things were run, so... I can't say with any certainty
<Moore> that that would be the case here, but... well, we want to do whatever we can to help." That last part is mostly true, at least if the city is destroyed there's no more knowledge to be found there...
<Kotono> "Really?" He asks, "Well, we can't have that happen." Rocky rubs his chin, "You still need to visit that library," he nods to Lucy, "That's a future that needs to happen. So, how come we haven't seen this encroaching calamity, hm? How certain was your divination? What method did you use?"
<Moore> Moore frowns. He really doesn't want to say that some of the seers might be lying, but isn't that the most obvious reason?
<Pepo> 'I connected my mind to the Akashic Record,' Pepo says. 'Of course it could be interpreted otherwise. Perhaps the pirates will only visit to wave their flag and then depart, but there will certainly be strife involved.' He'll guarantee it after all.
<Lucy> "The important thing," Lucy says through a smile even more forced than before, "is to figure out who this group is. They are not pirates. Not with their amount of ships. Not with their training. And certainly not with their goals. Now, we have their symbol, the locations they were last spotted, and a description of two of their leaders. Use those for more focused divinations."
<Veren > "This will be the second mage city they've attacked as well. Could they simply be going after mage power bases?"
<Moore> "It seemed like they were going after Rossalund because of the dissatisfaction of the people there, almost as if they were making it their mission to liberate them." Moore suggests.
<Lucy> "They claimed to be on a crusade," Lucy reasons. "As they are being lead by powerful mages, I doubt they are on such a crusade against mages."
<Pepo> 'Rosslund was destroyed, not liberated,' Pepo declares.
<Veren > "Crusades are typically religious functions. Could this be some odd cult having gained power?"
<Lucy> "Necromancy would account for both."
This is not the greatest post in the world, no... this is just a tribute.
