Session Start: Mon Feb 02 12:23:11 2015
Session Ident: #evildunes
* Now talking in #evildunes
* Topic is 'Bolt(26)>Pepo(24) '
* Set by Kotono on Thu Jan 22 13:45:05
<Kotono> ----
<Kotono> The trip back to the ship is without incident. The day's feast is still being set up - really it early as most people reckon it. But Pepo makes it back to the ship, finding Little on deck. He's sloooowly dragging a barrel of water across the deck of the ship. Occasionally a bit of water splashes out, and every so often you can see silvery fish leap out from the barrel - but they land right
<Kotono> back in the water. Kamhoff is watching this with a mixture of curiosity and open annoyance.
<Pepo> 'Where do you keep finding these fish?' Pepo asks Little, since it seems like a prime spot he'd like to hunt from himself.
<Kotono> "Fish sellers," Little stops and nods, "Make fish farm like rat farm?" he says quickly, "Good oppress fish into farm, all ordered?"
<Kotono> Kamhoff sighs and rubs his temple, "What the damned devil's saying is that he wants our help in making a fish tank in one of the holds."
<Pepo> 'This is a sound idea,' Pepo says. 'Fish are healthy and beneficial for anyone to eat. Although water is very heavy, so I'm unsure if it would be worth carrying over other cargo...'
<Kotono> "Give gold to Little, Little give gold to Kamhoff!" Little says, "Fix problem!"
<Kotono> "What he's saying is that he wants me to enchant the hold to be water proof and mitigate the weight problem," Kamhoff remarks, "So you can have your fish on demand." He sighs again, "This is the nuttiest fucking idea, especially since the cat doesn't even keep money! What sort of cat keeps money on hand?"
<Kotono> As you talk, Bolethon and Macaron come upstairs. Bolethon is talking, "Then the shining, drooling path must be taken to the third eye," he says.
<Pepo> 'Yes, money is an obstacle. Instead why don't we just preserve a lot of fish in ice? They won't be quite as fresh but still satisfactory, and less of a burden to store.'
<Kotono> "Okay," Little agrees, "But want barrel of fish?"
<Kotono> Macaron meanwhile looks around, squinting at the painful light. He whimpers and steps back down the steps, enough to give some shielding. Bolethon meanwhile serenely goes to the wheel of the ship, standing there and gazing out.
<Pepo> Pepo manifests the recently learned adapt body on himself so that the light is no trouble to him and walks over to Macaron. 'Take my sunshades,' he says, 'I no longer need them.'
<Kotono> Macaron does so, 'Thank you,' He murmurs in your mind. 'I had never seen the source of light until now. I had been stuck in Kamhoff's laboratory.' Meanwhile, Kamhoff comes on over, "Good boy," he leans down and ruffles Macaron's fur, "You're finally coming out of that lab!"
<Pepo> 'You're welcome,' Pepo says, rubbing against Macaron briefly before he goes over to Little. 'I will have a fish now,' he bids.
<Kotono> Macaron pads along, following as he looks about. Little goes in and splashes around, before knocking a fish out. It lands near Pepo, thrashing about on the deck. Meanwhile, Macaron turns to Kamhoff, who laughs and replies, "It is bright, isn't it? Damned bright."
<Pepo> 'It is more pleasant if you go further inland,' Pepo tells Macaron as he tucks into his fish.
<Kotono> For his part, Macaron just looks around before looking to Kamhoff. The old wizard sighs, "Fine, fine. I hear you, boy. May as well do it now." Clearing his throat, "If you excuse me, my dog objects to some of my magic. Go fucking figure, huh?"
<Pepo> 'What sort of magic?' Pepo asks curiously, his mouth still busy chewing. Aren't dogs supposed to be overly gregarious? It might be a spell with a bad smell or a really high pitched noise, perhaps?
<Kotono> It's a fresh tuna. Quite tasty, really. Mmmmm! Meanwhile, "Little still want more good oppression, more order,' he says.
<Kotono> 'The magic that bound me here,' Macaron remarks in Pepo's mind, 'It is safe to say he managed something that should not have been, and resulted in the state I found myself in.' Meanwhile, Kamhoff just shrugs.
<Pepo> Well, he can probably oblige. 'Every two hours you must patrol the perimeter of the ship and raise an alarm if you see anything dangerous or unusual,' Pepo orders Little before he then asks Macaron and Kamhoff, 'So what is to be done about it?'
<Kotono> 'I am not certain,' Macaron says, 'What is done is long since done. I came to this world with a purpose, one that has been subverted.'
<Pepo> 'How did you get a purpose? Everyone else seems to just be entirely ignorant,' Pepo asks Macaron.
<Kotono> Kamhoff frowns, looking between the two, "You two having a private conversation," he remarks, crossing his arms, "Well hell, let me into it then!"
<Kotono> Macaron ignores that for now, instead replying, 'I do not know, except I was summoned. I remember that, the purpose and now the moon.'
<Kotono> Then the moon dog turns to Kamhoff, 'Please be patient.'
<Pepo> 'So what will you do now?' Pepo asks, but includes Kamhoff.
<Kotono> 'I do not know. I had entrusted Moore with information about the purpose, as I needed to pass on.' Macaron says, 'But Jetina's intervention seems to have recreated and repaired the damages of Kamhoff's magic to my summoning. I know what is if I must protect and what the place looks like, but not the location. I fear magic will not avail finding it, either.'
<Pepo> 'You could ask people, check shipping charts, or maps,' Pepo suggests. 'Though if it is remote or hidden I would not hold much hope.'
<Kotono> 'I am certain it is hidden,' Macaron says, 'So I believe I will stay here for now, and hope that Kamhoff's travels bring us to it.'
<Kotono> 'Well hell, I managed that much, huh?' Kamhoff hmmms, 'A sailor always gets it done, even if it's not how you expect it.'
<Pepo> Finishing off his fish Pepo says to Kamhoff, 'I presume we will not be departing tonight?'
<Kotono> "Did you still want to leave early?" Kamhoff asks, "That whole divination fucking thing."
<Pepo> 'Yes, but if it interrupts your own schedule I have a backup plan.'
<Kotono> "Which is?" Kamhoff pauses, arms crossed.
<Pepo> 'I will sleep atop a barracks or wizards tower so that whatever enemy comes from the ground will have to go through them first.'
<Kotono> "Makes sense," is Kamhoff's reply, followed by a shrug.
<Pepo> 'I will go and find a suitable spot then. Little, you should come too,' Pepo says, adding the gargoyle to the conversation.
<Kotono> Macaron stills at this, 'Is there not a better way than using others as unwitting shields?' the canine asks, 'If you need protection, I will give it.'
<Pepo> While the old dog is certainly great at healing, Pepo doubts his ability to help deal with an evil threat from below. 'If it is so onerous, I will either hide under the light or hijack another boat,' he decides, heading off the boat and then starting to walk down the shoreline under the light.
<Kotono> OOC: Link me to adapt body or whatever it is?
<Pepo> OOC: http://www.d20srd.org/srd/psionic/powers/adaptBody.htm
<Kotono> Thus Pepo steps in. At first it isn't bad at all, his powers protecting him. OOC: How far down are you going?
<Pepo> OOC: As far as the continental shelf, or wherever it starts getting really steep
<Kotono> The slope remains steady, going down without a lot of variation. At 40ft down, he begins to feel it - the same brightness and pressure that assailed his other spells. It's like his entire body is being squeezed constantly.
<Pepo> Well, this'll do. He backs off a little then just curls up. He'll have to refresh it in ten hours, then after another ten hours he can poke his head back up and see if he missed anything.
<Kotono> OOC: Okay. Make a listen check.
<Pepo> roll 1d20+18
<Serith> Pepo roll for Serith < 38 > 12 [d20=20]
<Kotono> After a few hours of napping, Pepo can hear something that sounds like footsteps coming from deeper down. Perhaps not them, but the rhythm of sound they make sort of matches.
<Pepo> That's certainly curious! Unfortunately he can't get any closer to look, so he just has to wait until they get near enough to make out what's causing them.
<Kotono> Soon enough he can see something coming, 10ft away. It looks to be Pepo's humanoid form, made of light. Heavy chains hang from it, silent. Only the sound of its footsteps can be heard.
<Pepo> 'Who are you?' Pepo asks, surprised to see something looking like his disdained alternate form. It certainly can't be coincidence! And those chains don't look pleasant either...
<Kotono> In reply, the chains lash out at Pepo! OOC: Init here.
<Pepo> roll 1d20+6
<Serith> Pepo roll for Serith < 18 > 12 [d20=12]
<Kotono> roll 1d20+6
<Serith> Kotono roll for Serith < 11 > 12 [d20=5]
* Kotono changes topic to 'Pepo(18)>Pepo that is not Pepo(11) '
<Kotono> OOC: Go.
<Pepo> The last light-creature he fought was vulnerable to cold... but Pepo himself is resistant to it. Still, appearances aside he wagers it's more like light than him, so Pepo backs up and fires a ray of freezing cold at his doppelganger! (not to be confused with Veren)
<Pepo> roll 1d100 wild surge
<Serith> Pepo roll for Serith < 52 > 12 [d100=52]
<Pepo> roll 1d100 chaotic surge augmenting 9pp

<Pepo> roll 1d20+15 ranged touch
<Serith> Pepo roll for Serith < 16 > 12 [d20=1]
<Kotono> But the beam is errant in the blinding light. A second later, the chain lashes out at Pepo!
<Kotono> roll 1d20+13 touch AC?
<Serith> Kotono roll for Serith < 22 > 12 [d20=9]
<Pepo> OOC: 18
<Kotono> OOC: Will save. G'luck.
<Pepo> roll 1d20+9 +2 vs compulsion/law
<Serith> Pepo roll for Serith < 17 > 12 [d20=8]
<Kotono> Pepo's world goes dark as the chains touch him. The next thing he knows...mmm. He awakens in his favorite sleeping place on the ship. As he stretches, he reflects that today is the day of that celebration everyone's so worked up for. OOC: Pepo loses memory of everything since he woke up this day. This includes getting together, meeting Aria for breakfast, the encounter with the catfolk, his
<Kotono> chat with the others and finally his adventure in the light.
<Pepo> Well it's time for breakfast, so Pepo rouses himself and heads up on deck to see what he can get to eat.

This is not the greatest post in the world, no... this is just a tribute.
