<Kotono> <Pepo> roll 1d20+9 +2 vs compulsion/law
<Kotono> <Serith> Pepo roll for Serith < 17 > [d20=8]
<Kotono> > Pepo's world goes dark as the chains touch him. The next thing he knows...mmm. He awakens in his favorite sleeping place on the ship. As he stretches, he reflects that today is the day of that celebration everyone's so worked up for. OOC: Pepo loses memory of everything since he woke up this day. This includes getting together, meeting Aria for breakfast, the encounter with the catfolk,
<Kotono> his chat with the others and finally his adventure in the light.
<Kotono> <Pepo> Well it's time for breakfast, so Pepo rouses himself and heads up on deck to see what he can get to eat.
<Kotono> To his surprise, Macaron's on the deck! But that's it, the deck is otherwise empty. No sign of breakfast, alas.
<Pepo> 'Where is everyone?' Pepo asks Macaron. Usually they're all bustling about making breakfast after all.
<Kotono> Macaron looks up from his vigil staring out at the sea of light. 'They are at the celebration,' he says simply.
<Pepo> They must have known better than to wake him up, still he figured it wouldn't start till later in the day. 'Then I'll go find them. There should be some good food, after all.'
<Kotono> 'Go well,' Macaron says, Pepo going. As he heads down the docks, he finds Bolethon kneeling before the light. He silently sobs, face hidden in his hands.
<Pepo> 'Is something wrong?' Pepo asks, going to rub up against Bolethon in a comforting manner.
<Kotono> Bolethon turns to Pepo, "Begone, Pepo is that is not Pepo," he says simply, rising and going back to the ship.
<Pepo> 'What does that mean?' Pepo enquires. He is himself isn't he?
<Kotono> Pepo gets no answer from Bolethon, who silently returns to the ship.
<Pepo> Pepo is a curious cat, and that manifests in him manifesting read thoughts on Bolethon!
<Pepo> OOC: DC 20 will negates, no delay on reading
<Kotono> roll 1d20+10
<Serith> Kotono roll for Serith < 13 > 12 [d20=3]
<Kotono> Thoughts pour into Pepo's head like a tidal wave. You are not Pepo. You are the Pepo that is not Pepo. Hollow. Empty. A phantasm in the glimmer of the light. Chains. You're surrounded by chains. You can hear the rustle of chains in your thoughts. You're falling. Dragging. Falling. The clank of chains as you're dragged deeper. Everything is just a glimmer in the light, an unreal mirage that
<Kotono> undulates in waves of unseen heat. Guilty. This is your punishment. Guilty. He was hoping for so much more. Guilty. Pepo's head throbs. Guilty. Too much. Guilty. You are guilty. The sheer truth of it pounds on Pepo like a pressure all over, like the light. Guilty. Being dragged down, past the shimmering illusion, the momentary phantasm of reality in the light. Your humanoid side in chains,
<Kotono> dragging you down into the light.
<Pepo> "Mrreowwl!" Pepo yowls in pain, his fur sticking up on end. It's a lot to process, but the main thing he takes from it is that somehow the light got him and he's some sort of construct or projection, not a real cat! Then there's only one thing he can do, and that's dive into the light to find himself! He knows his scent after all, if there's a trail leading beneath then it proves that he's
<Pepo> not real!
<Kotono> The Pepo that is not Pepo is home. He breaks apart like a thousand shards of glass. It is the greatest relief of his momentary life. He breaks into a thousand pieces and is poured in. He is Pepo. He is with Pepo. He is Pepo. He is wrapped in chains, the humanoid - he remembers! The battle! The humanoid version of him has him, starting to drag him deeper in.
<Pepo> Even as a copy, Pepo can always rely on himself! Now, rather than doing some sort of direct attack, he'll weaken this light-copy of his human form by attacking its very substance, darkening the area around himself to utter pitch black! OOC: control light, decrease 100%
<Kotono> roll 1d20+7
<Serith> Kotono roll for Serith < 8 > 12 [d20=1]
<Kotono> With a shudder, the figure of light winks out as the light is brought down. The power flickers - the pressure against it is overwhelming. Further down, outside of the range of effect, Pepo can hear the rattle of chains. OOC: Free act for now.
<Pepo> It's certainly dangerous to go further down like this... even to stay and fight is dangerous. No, better to escape with this hard-won knowledge and prepare better for next time. So trusting the only landmark he has down here, he starts to run in whichever direction is up on the slope he's on!
<Kotono> As Pepo runs, there is a massive burst of light behind him, as...OOC: Ref.
<Pepo> roll 1d20+14 evasion
<Serith> Pepo roll for Serith < 22 > 12 [d20=8]
<Kotono> roll 20d6 full damage ow
<Serith> Kotono roll for Serith < 56 > 12 [d6=6,2,2,1,1,2,2,6,1,2,6,3,3,3,4,5,2,1,3,1]
<Kotono> Agony. The light burns like fire, yet scalds like acid. It freezes his bones like the bitterest cold, even as his muscles spasm from a painful shock. But somehow Pepo emerges back on the shore. He falls over and convulses, shivering from frostbite as painful burns ache across his body. But he's out of the light.
<Pepo> Mewing pitifully, Pepo licks himself both for comfort and because he knows it has a beneficial magical effect now!
<Pepo> roll 1d8+5 soothing ministrations
<Serith> Pepo roll for Serith < 8 > 12 [d8=3]
<Kotono> It helps. Pepo still feels wrong - until, in his daze, he's picked up. Bolethon picks him up, heading back to the ship.
<Pepo> 'I am Pepo,' Pepo tells Bolethon. 'Do not hate that other Pepo... he saved me, after all.'
<Kotono> "You are Pepo. I am Bolethon who is not Bolethon," he replies without further comment, taking Pepo to the deck. Macaron is there, and Pepo is placed before him.
<Pepo> Oh... oh. Oh. 'Is that required to become a light mage?' he asks weakly.
<Kotono> "You understand," Bolethon pets Pepo once, as Macaron gently licks Pepo, curling up around him.
<Kotono> roll 1d8+5
<Serith> Kotono roll for Serith < 10 > 12 [d8=5]
<Kotono> 'Rest,' Macaron intones in Pepo's mind.
<Pepo> It's hard to rest when he fears something emerging from the light any second to drag him down. He really should have gone to live in those breaches... 'Why though? What is it hiding?'
<Kotono> Bolethon smiles. It is a terrible thing (Pepo remembers shattering in the light, unreasoning terror) as he says, "Something wonderful and frightful enough to be protected." Then Bolethon leaves silently, heading below decks.
<Kotono> Macaron gently licks Pepo, curled up around him. It's warm there,  'Shhh,' Macaron whispers into Pepo's mind.
<Pepo> Pepo curls up as well, deciding that sleep is better than reality at least for a little while.

This is not the greatest post in the world, no... this is just a tribute.
