Iron Dragoon

Session Start: Thu Feb 12 11:56:36 2015
Session Ident: #evildunes
* Now talking in #evildunes
* Topic is 'Pepo(18)>Pepo that is not Pepo(11) '
* Set by Kotono on Mon Feb 02 14:22:58
* ChanServ sets mode: +o Pepo
<Kotono> Pain. Veren's world is pain, suffering and misery. His head throbs all over. He's slowly awakening, lying on what feels like cold, clammy stone. Ugh.
* Veren winces and squints his eyes as he rolls over, trying to limit the pain but still see where he is.
<Kotono> OOC: Darkvision or low-light vision?
<Veren > OOC: Darkvision 60 ft.
<Kotono> Veren lies in a cavern passage. It's cold and dank here, perfectly dark. The passage extends to the left and to the right farther than his darkvision goes. It looks like an unremarkable limestone cave, full of water and the like.
* Veren checks himself over to make sure he has all of his equipment.
<Kotono> All of Veren's equipment is intact.
* Veren inspects his surroundings as he begins cautiously heading to the right. OOC: Dungeoneering apply at all?
<Kotono> OOC: Sure, make a check.
<Veren > roll 1d20+12+3 Dungeoneering/Inspiration
<Serith> Veren roll for Serith < 26 > 12 [d20=11]
<Kotono> Checking the angle and level of erosion, Veren can tell the water must come from the left. If he follows the left path, he'll likely find a source of water sooner or later.
* Veren instead follows to the left! Water is better for survival.
<Kotono> The path to the left leads on. You soon see trickles of water trailing on the ground, as if coming from somewhere ahead. Tiny little rivers. As you go...OOC: Perception.
<Veren > roll 1d20+14 Perception
<Serith> Veren roll for Serith < 18 > 12 [d20=4]
<Kotono> Veren hears a soft sound behind him - a pebble hitting the ground, perhaps.
* Veren tries to glance back over his shoulder to see what it was inconspicuously; if there is something behind him, he doesn't want to alert it that he knows.
<Kotono> Veren glances behind him. Nothing. No sign of anything at all. Perhaps just a stone falling - limestone caverns do have relatively fast erosion.
* Veren continues on his way, making sure to keep checking behind him occasionally.
<Kotono> Not far ahead you find there's a little side passage. You can keep going ahead of explore this - it hooks to the side and leads further in .
* Veren continues towards the water, his primary goal is finding a way out. OOC: I feel like I should be stealthing.
<Kotono> OOC: Make a stealth check then.
<Veren > roll 1d20+25+3 Stealth/Inspiration
<Serith> Veren roll for Serith < 48 > 12 [d20=20]
<Kotono> Veren is an unseen ghost, traveling ahead silently. Soon the passage comes to a small, overflowing spring. It's a dead end here, but the spring is transparent. At the bottom lies a hole, at least one way ahead.
<Veren > OOC: Can I check the book for anything I can shift into that can breathe water?
<Kotono> OOC: Sure.
* Veren opens the book to search for a creature that can breathe water!
<Kotono> OOC: See #elysium. Alternately, if you have one handy that also qualifies, feel free.
* Veren locates the information on Aquatic elves and studies it enough to shift into one before entering the water!
<Kotono> The water's cold, but Veren's new shape handles it. Down he swims - it quickly connects to a rather fast moving river. Fortunately, his new form saves him from being swept away with the current. It goes in both directions - fighting against the current is hard but might be possible. Going with the current will result in fast, easy travel.
* Veren decides to go with the flow, so to speak, as water always ends up somewhere! He just hopes it's a place he wants to be...
<Kotono> Down Veren goes. Down, down, down, down. Down the river. He swims for a good time, until at last he sees the river slow. Emerging, he sees he's in a large cavern the river cuts through. It's wide and spacious. Sitting on the bank is Bolethon, his back to Veren.
* Veren does not announce himself yet, as Lucy and Pepo's stories of replacements make him wary, but takes a few moments to inspect the cavern first, then Bolethon, trying to discern if he is the Bolethon he knows or not.
<Kotono> OOC: Perception.
<Veren > roll 1d20+14+3 Perception/Inspiration
<Serith> Veren roll for Serith < 24 > 12 [d20=7]
<Kotono> Veren can see red around the floor of it. It's subtle, but Bolethon must be wounded, for he sits in blood.
* Veren decides to exit the water, but keeps his distance from Bolethon, and readies his blade before he speaks. Just in case.
<Veren > "Bolethon. Are you injured?"
<Kotono> No reply.
* Veren circles around Bolethon so he can inspect him, but keeps his distance.
<Kotono> Bolethon's front is stained with blood, for his throat has been slit. He looks quite dead.
<Kotono> *looks
* Veren moves a bit closer and inspects the body and looking for traps, anything useful on the body, or if he can identify the weapon used.
<Kotono> Nothing. Veren would guess a single-edged weapon or the like - a sword, dagger or even a sharp razor. Nothing useful is on the body.
* Veren inspects the cavern for other routes out before returning to the water.
<Kotono> There's a passage on the right side, leading further in.
* Veren moves into the passage as stealthily as possible, shifting back into his normal form. While the last person to go down it was likely the murderer, this other person or thing might have information he needs.
<Kotono> OOC: Perception.
<Veren > roll 1d20+14 Perception
<Serith> Veren roll for Serith < 31 > 12 [d20=17]
Session Close: Thu Feb 12 14:27:22 2015
This is not the greatest post in the world, no... this is just a tribute.
