Session Ident: #dunes
* Now talking in #dunes
* Topic is 'Pepo=Lucy(11)>Pepo that is not Pepo(9) '
* Set by Kotono on Wed Feb 11 14:49:57
<Moore> roll 1d20+14
<Serith > Moore roll for Serith < 26 > 12 [d20=12]
<Kotono> The room's unremarkable besides the obvious oddity. No other entrances or exits are found.
<Moore> Moore sighs again. "Only one way to go, then." He starts back to where the hole with the waterfall was, but takes a look around up there to ensure there's nothing else to find.
<Kotono> OOC: Perception.
<Moore> roll 1d20+14
<Serith > Moore roll for Serith < 30 > 12 [d20=16]
<Kotono> Oh! On the side wall there's a small door, just Moore's size. It's like it was always there, but he just now noticed it. How did he ever miss it?
<Moore> Moore makes a face again. Something about that door... "What are you playing at?" He asks absolutely no one in particular. He will go over to it anyway and try to open it!
<Kotono> The door opens! It leads to a broken room. A broken room full of broken glass. Going ahead looks quite hazardous. But sitting in the middle of the mess is a book with a white cover.
<Moore> OOC: Is it a tiny room or a normal-sized room?
<Kotono> OOC: Sized to fit you.
<Moore> OOC: Does it look like I can fly over it?
<Kotono> OOC: Sure, but it'll be tough. The glass looks sorted just so to make that tricky.
<Moore> Moore calls on some luck for some improvisation! He then casts Detect Magic to ensure there isn't more to this room than meets the eye...
<Kotono> The room is not magical, though the book is.
<Moore> "Of course. Well, I don't intend to play by your rules today, my apologies." Moore says as he calls on something he's certain Lucy can do to create a bridge between himself at his current location and in front of the book! OOC: Using Shadow Conjuration to cast Bifrost Bridge if I can. http://kmalloy.cloudapp.net/dndtools.eu/spells/dragonlance-campaign-setting--98/billims-bifrost-bridge--4998/index.html
<Kotono> The bridge is so created, a path from door to book.
<Moore> Moore will cross the bridge to retrieve the book. However, before he actually touches it, he will inspect it for magical properties!
<Kotono> OOC: Spellcraft.
<Moore> roll 1d20+14+5
<Serith > Moore roll for Serith < 39 > 12 [d20=20]
<Kotono> The book is enchanted to cause all the glass to come forward and impale whomever touches it. Quite a nasty trap. Notably, the spell is focused on the book's spine and cover, rather than within. There's a separate enchantment for that, something to preserve the book's pages even if exposed to force or glass.
<Moore> "Aren't you clever." Moore says with some hint of respect. OOC: Is it possible to open the book by, say, inserting a finger into the pages to flip it open?
<Kotono> OOC: You could try, sure.
<Moore> OOC: Would Moore know if he used Mirror Image if that'd have any effect? Or invisibility?
<Kotono> OOC: He's not sure.
<Moore> Moore will just try and get the book open without touching the cover. That shouldn't be too hard!
<Kotono> OOC: Have any ranks in sleight of hand?
<Moore> OOC: Via Bardic Cheating, sure!
<Kotono> OOC: Make a check on it.
<Moore> roll 1d20+5+5
<Serith > Moore roll for Serith < 29 > 12 [d20=19]
<Kotono> Got it! It's a bit of a hard play, but Moore manages to open the book! No glass hell rains down on him.
<Moore> "Now then, what's so important about this book? Or is it yet another trap?" Moore muses as he looks at what's actually in the book. Pictures of him in compromising positions, perhaps?
<Kotono> OOC: Make an Int check.
<Moore> roll 1d20+4+5
<Serith > Moore roll for Serith < 24 > 12 [d20=15]
<Kotono> The book is a treatise on...Moore can't understand. No, that isn't right. His mind rejects it. It is beyond him, pushed away as a defensive measure. Save for a few words which are branded into his mind: Pepo is home at last.
<Moore> Moore reels back at this and frowns. "Nothing in this place is real, is it. So what -is-  this place...?" Was that a warning from himself somehow to not keep delving into this? The truth of the world beyond what he can see...? Moore blinks at that last part. Pepo? Home? He looks around the rest of the room to see if there are any other doors leading out.
<Kotono> Blinking, he can see there's now a door in the back. He swears it wasn't there before. The glass is gone now as well.
<Moore> "Okay. Seriously, do you think I'm that daft?" Moore calls out. He decides to try a theory. He takes a breath and closes his eyes for a moment. A door to where the others must be. He'll find it... right below him. He then opens his eyes to see if anything happened.
<Kotono> Moore hears...something. He doesn't know what it is. He doesn't remember. But reality itself breaks for one terrible moment and then... (More)
<Kotono> Bed. Moore's in bed. He feels like he's just waking up, curled up under warm blankets.
<Moore> A nightmare? ...No, that can't be right. His mind tries to process what's going on... He takes a deep breath. It's just another illusion -- another deception... he takes another deep breath. He'll find a way out of this -- there's going to be a door right in front of him that he can take. There's always an open door. He then opens his eyes, sure of himself!
<Kotono> You're in a bedroom. A nice enough one, with a bed sized to you. Sitting next to the chair is Rocky. "Finally rolling awake?" he asks.
<Moore> Moore takes a breath again and closes his eyes. "Why are you here? What are you? Please don't answer with a rock-pun. The real Rocky was bad enough."
<Kotono> Rocky frowns and sighs, "We found you on the shore after Kamhoff's boat broke in half. We're hoping you know what happened and if any of the others made it."
<Moore> Moore blinks. ...He cracks an eye open tentatively. "...Tell me exactly what happened since that incident and how long it's been." There's a pause. "...Please. ...You may include rock puns, also." He adds.
<Kotono> "A few hours. We found you and we're still looking for the others," he says, "We don't know what happened, only that Kamhoff's ship snapped like a stick." His frown stays, "We're hoping we didn't lose too many of you.
<Kotono> "
<Moore> "...That's it. I... ..." Moore looks down at himself. OOC: Book's gone, right?
<Kotono> OOC: Yes.
<Moore> He takes a deep breath. "I'm going to do my best to explain exactly where I was. How long ago did you find me?"
<Kotono> "An hour ago," Rocky replies, "What happened?"
<Moore> Moore starts with the basics. "There was a pillar of light... an explosion from the Light. There was magic in it... and when I awoke, I was in a cave. A bizarre... lifeless cave. There was a waterfall... it was like a drain, but it vanished. Behind...well, up... was this door -- it was a magical door-- nothing could break through it... but then I just blew it open. Like I could... and I found
<Moore> these... ...I don't know what to call them... clones? Copies? These dolls of me. They were all me. Like someone had spares."
<Moore> Moore continues on, "I found a small door that led to a room filled with glass. It had a book in it... I think... I think something from before I got brought here kept me safe. There was a phrase in it... Pepo. Pepo went home. ...Anyway, the room... I knew after a while it was just toying with me. Any time I'd look for another door, one would just... be there. Like magic."
<Moore> Moore takes another breath. "So I simply thought 'An exit back to everyone will appear below me' and... ...then something horrible... ..Everything broke. But... then I woke up here. Wherever it was that I was... I think it was the gateway between where we came from and this place."
<Moore> The realization suddenly hits him. "The others... they must still be in there. I have to try and help them somehow." He looks at Rocky. "I don't know if you believe me or not, but... If there's anything I can do... I want to help them."
<Kotono> "That's an incredibly story," Rocky finally says, "The best thing you can do is rest while I tell the others. This might help us search for them."
<Moore> "There's no way I can rest while the rest of them may be in danger." Moore says. "But I'll stay here so you have one less person to worry about. If... if somehow you can tell them anything, somehow reach them, just tell them 'Believe there's a way out.'"
<Kotono> "Right," Rocky says, and then smiles, "We'll get them out, no matter how stone headed they are."
<Moore> Moore nods and leans back against the bed. Is there any way he can reach them? ... "Actually, am I the only one you found? Kamhoff, Macaron... the others? Still gone?"
<Kotono> "You're the only one so far," he replies.
<Moore> Moore nods slowly. "I... thank you for watching out for us." He says as he closes his eyes. It isn't like them... Kamhoff surely would just get too cantankerous...

This is not the greatest post in the world, no... this is just a tribute.
