<Serith > Kotono roll for Serith < 43 > 12 [d20=20]
<Kotono> No good. It's like slamming into a mental bastion of pure will. The old man meanwhile yawns. "These old bones are glad to have you back. From the way you hurt, you were in quite the adventure." At this, energy flows into Pepo. Blue fire dances across his vision as his wounds heal. OOC: HP restored.
<Pepo> 'I lost my memory,' Pepo admits into the man's mind. 'I don't recognize you.'
<Kotono> "That's alright. I recognize you," A chuckle as Pepo...hm? His mind feels strangely empty. There's a sensation of a leeching, of something being pulled away. He was...he said something about...he can't recall. He came from...somewhere? It's all becoming a blur. "We'll do something about that memory loss in the morning."
<Pepo> OOC: the events of the game are becoming a blur?
<Kotono> OOC: Yes.
<Pepo> Fur starting to rise up, Pepo jumps off the man's lap in fright, looking around for escape. 'What are you doing?' he demands, trying to hold onto his memories. He had to be completely ignorant once, he won't suffer it again!
<Kotono> "I healed you," The old man says, as Pepo...no, it's gone. He knows he lost something, but he remembers his name, that he's a cat and nothing else. "Did you forget how I did that with a channeled dwoemer?"
<Pepo> 'I can't recall anything before this moment,' he replies... yet his pulse is elevated, his fur is up. Something must have startled him, something must be wrong.
<Kotono> "Come here," The old man rises stiffly, kneeling next to the frightened cat. "There's some of your special fish in the frostroom." He reaches out, petting Pepo slowly. "Let's go get some and lie you down to calm down."
<Pepo> Being petted feels good... he doesn't know what fish are but it does sound tasty. With no other idea what to do, Pepo calms and follows along with the human's directions.
<Kotono> Pepo is picked up. The old mage's arms are warm. It's peaceful like this, strangely familiar. Pepo finds himself falling asleep - a gentle darkness that creeps over him.  It's strange. He can't recall anything, yet he feels this is where he's supposed to be. A sense of nostalgia fills him, a sense of rightness. Without any doubt in his mind, Pepo knows he is home.  His awareness further
<Kotono> dims towards the velvet darkness of sleep. At the farthest reaches of his awareness, as he slips into an eternal and peaceful rest, "Everyone is born with the free will to choose. You chose the route of the defiant. Was this the ending you wanted, Pepo?" For a moment, a sheer moment that seems to stop time, Pepo remembers. Reality around him seems frozen, unimportant.
<Pepo> OOC: have I seen out any windows since I got here?
<Kotono> OOC: No.
<Pepo> He'd have liked to have seen his friends on this side, since he'd assumed at least he, Lucy, Moore, and Veren all came from the same place. And there's something missing, something he can't quantify but knows he yearned for while in the land of light. But he's home, isn't he? 'It is enough,' he allows.
<Kotono> "You finally understand," The voice seems amused and pleased. Ahead, the old man's taking you through a hall. There are windows - light? Sun...light? Pepo remembers that in a burst of joy, as the voice fades away. "Go. Your choice is life. I think it's the better choice than unknown mysteries. In the end, aren't our lives more important?"
<Pepo> Pepo happily jumps up onto the window ledge and lays down, his dark fur soaking up the sun like a sponge. Life is good.

This is not the greatest post in the world, no... this is just a tribute.
