Jaela surges forward in a blur, striking the celestial in a split second. It's a graze but a hit, scratching across his arm and elbow. A wound that heals almost instantly, sealing up behind itself.

Initiative order is: Afina (33) > Salandariel (31) > Arrel (30) > Kascha (28) > Mirajane = Surraruthru (21) > Jaela (14)

Go Afina.

Ebiris

Having all her protections stripped away is bringing back memories of Castle Crumbling... it only shows how reliant she is on her magic, and the need to do something to preserve it better against dispelling. At least one spell will always stick with her though, if she can just cast the damn thing...

And so she, Mirajane, and Jaela are all hasted, the remainder of the group unfortunately too far for her to reach with the spell. "Thanks Mirajane," she nods tersely as sight is restored, lunging down to stab the rapidly regenerating angel twice over in the back before rebounding away towards the rear of the cathedral!

Afina is like a flash, stabbing into the angel's back. She dodges a swipe of pure light that whistles through the air, her blade plunging home in the angel's back. The injuries are shallow and heal almost instantly, a great deal of resistance to her strikes. As Afina flees back, the angel speaks. "I am the nova that eradicates the wicked and leaves behind fertile ash." The celestial shines brighter, before a massive nova of burning light erupts from him, covering the cathedral.

Ref saves, all. This is searing fire damage, which ignores immunity and deals half damage to those immune.

Elysium  doesn't inhibit shadow magic, Iddy. You'd know that much. It's possible this area does, but a sufficient spellcraft check should help regardless.

The blast of light is like liquid fire pumped into your veins, all through your eyeballs. It's simple burning agony, the party buffeted by it. Yet Afina and Arrel are too fast, a blur as they move between the tiniest gaps in the light. Jaela holds her ground and spins her spear defensively, parrying light itself as it tries to immolate her. Mirajane is simply not there - already behind a pew in preparation, using it as safe cover.

Surraruthru can swoop up and past the worst of it, burnt but rolling with it. Kascha's caught completely flatfooted, crying out in pain as she's burnt. She's seared all over, as if she was rolled across a hot pan.

Go ahead and go, Surraruthru. For the sake of getting this in before work grabs you for the new few days, Arrel and Kascha will hold.

Okay, time for me to eat crow. This is quoted from time stop:

QuoteWhile the time stop is in effect, other creatures are invulnerable to your attacks and spells; you cannot target such creatures with any attack or spell.

100% my fault, since I said this was okay to Iddy. I blame being headachey and having a bad eye night, though the simple truth is that I should have double checked rather than nodding along. Round 3 and 4's actions aren't affected, but round 1 and 2's are invalid. Feel free to choose different actions, Surraruthru. No penalty on them since it's entirely my fault.

#43
Initiative order is: Afina (33) > Salandariel (31) > Surraruthru (30.1) > Arrel (30) > Kascha (28) > Mirajane (21) > Jaela (14)

Nightmarish terrain springs up in place of the glorious cathedral, the howling of monsters and clash of weapons as the ground itself writhes. Surraruthru vanishes amid it, magic enhancing him all over. You hear a soft, "Tsh," from the angel, a vague little scoff. But as this happens, Arrel flies to Kascha and taps one of her charred wings with one of his intact ones. Healing magic flows through her, mending her injuries.

Heal spell, 1/3 left for the day. +150 hit points. Kascha's up.

Kascha stays where she is. "Thank you," she murmurs, readying herself.

Readied action to use her mass heal ioun stone, this is realy a terrible matchup for her.

Mirajane merely points to the sky, as valor fills the party with an undeniable sense of purpose.

Celestial valor on the party, same benefits as when Kascha cast it. You're up, Jaela.

Jaela taps her heel against the floor of the cathedral, and time stops moving for her for several precious seconds! This opponent requires them to go all out, and in the absence of her usual tricks it can only mean magic.

Round 1: Time Stop for 2 rounds via Booots of the Bringer of the White as a swift action. Round 2: casting Righteous Halo as standard, quickened Greater Magic Weapon on Gae Trocaire as swift, channeling Moon Bolt into Gae Trocaire as move. Round 3: casting Holy Transformation as standard, Assay Spell Resistance as swift. The assumption is that a channeled spell will not trigger a spell failure roll when discharged. If that's mistaken, the swift action will attempt to recast the first spell that failed during Rounds 2-3. Round 1: time resumes, full attack on Salandariel while Shaken for the round. Slipping into Gambit, intending to use an immediate to counterspell if he casts or to negate a crit threat on me pre-confirmation, whichever happens first.
