Yet more hoarding (Surraruthru)

As Kascha and Ebony stay back, keeping an eye on the other hydras, Surraruthru advances. The hydra lets him and he's able to get in to scratch. The other nine heads begin to bob as the head you scratch closes its eyes and stays still.

Continues to do this, but tries to find a place he can plant himself to begin casting the spell.

Since the spell has a 24 hour cast time, I'd be looking for somewhere I can maintain contact and stability.

One of the edits vs awaken was the casting time was reduced to 1 hour.

What's your plan for keeping the cryohydra still and compliant?

Gonna try and use scratching and charm to lull it to sleep. I dunno if Ebony or Kascha can help with that.

"Ebony, Kascha, do either of you have anything to keep her calm and still for an hour?"

[Anastasia]

"Music may," Ebony says, "Is it not said music soothes the savage beast?"

What passes is an intense, long hour of work. Ebony's voice and scratching her chin help keep it fairly still, letting you weave magic and slowly anoint it with the potion as needed.

The rest of the hydras stay fairly quiet during this time, a couple coming and going but nothing more than that. Finally, you utter the last invocation and...

The hydra's many heads go still as its eyes open wide. Then...

She looks around, eyes suddenly  much clearer and sharper. Reptilian eyes are brighter, glowing a soft ice blue. Then all ten heads turn to Surraruthru, studying him anew.

I'll choose Common as the language the Cryohydra gets.

"Hello, I am Surraruthru. A pleasure to meet you. I'm sure you're a bit confused, but if you have questions, we'll be happy to answer them."

[Anastasia]

"Ah!" Several heads blurt that out or something similar to it, as it looks around. Its heads weave about, going in different directions, before two settle on Surraruthru. She then says, "I understand! I understand!" Her eyes are wide as she laughs, rather like a dragon's rumbling amusement. "What is all this?"

Ebony smiles and says, "Awareness and higher intelligence. It's quite something, no?"

"Oh yes, it must be confusing," Kascha pipes in, "But you'll adapt quickly. You can thank Surraruthru here for it."

[Iron Dragoon]

Surraruthru nods proudly.

"Yes, while I worked the magic to awaken you, Kascha and Ebony here-" Surraruthru points his snout at each in turn, "-helped immensely. I'm glad you seem to enjoy it. You were the... friendliest... one here before, so I decided to awaken you first."

[Anastasia]

"Yes, you will be my -" She stops at that, the heads stilling. "How strange."
