Pain. The cold is like nothing else. Jaela finds herself slowly turning to ice, just like Hanna. Hanna herself leads on, more and more ice.Her arms and legs are ice, as are much of her shoulders and hips, as well as some of her hair. But then - it stops. The wind stops. Ahead lies a cave so big you can't see the roof. A river runs through the ice, a long barge awaiting all of you. A single large-sized ice para elemental awaits on it.

Meanwhile, Jaela grimaces as parts of her body crumble. Hunks here and there, making her wince. Hanna's legs crumble beneath her, her arms nothing but tinkling ice that falls to the ground. Much of her is gone, but her center core is intact. She breathes raggedly, what's left of her twitching.

"Heal yourselves!" Afina hisses up at the deteriorating angels, the wind thankfully stopping and drawing a sigh from her as she relaxes her pose a little, waiting on Hanna and Jaela doing something about their bad shapes before approaching the barge.

Jaela carefully lets Mirajane down, and after a hug once she's on her own feet steps forward past her mother to face the elemental.

With your magic, your wounds heal and the party recovers. Hanna needs a good minute to regrow her lost arms, legs and wings, getting up like nothing's wrong after that. "Thanks," she says, then turn to Mirajane, "Are you alright?"

"I'm fine, Grandmother," she says with a shaky smile, "Thank you."

Fortunate fate's irrelevant to nonlethal damage, since it relies on your hit points being reduced to zero or less. Hence it didn't trigger for Hanna.

With everyone healed, Afina approaches the barge. "We have passed the Trial of the Arctic Winds. What lies ahead of us?" she asks the ice elemental, stopping at the edge of the river next to the vessel.

[Anastasia]

"Travel," The elemental replies, speaking in both Auran and Aquan at the same time, words grinding together. "Ahead and on. You are getting closer to Absolute Zero."

That sounds good enough to her, so with a nod Afina boards the barge.

Jaela stares at the elemental without comprehension, but easily understands Afina's actions and follows suit.

[Anastasia]

Hanna and Mirajane follow along. Once on the boat begins to go, moving on its own power as the elemental stares ahead, back to you. "You get used to this," Hanna remarks aloud, "Once the shock wears off, you hardly even think about it."

Mirajane sits down on the boat, resting and watching the waters go by. "How does Bahamut endure this cold and stand with the righteous?" she murmurs, "It feels like it freezes your heart."

"It can," Afina says, listening to Mirajane as she similarly stares ahead down the prow of their barge. "After we met Auril, my heart began to freeze over. But strongly felt emotions thawed it." She looks back towards their young seer. "Having some feeling close to your heart can keep it from chilling into apathy."

[Anastasia]

Hanna looks over and adds, "Your heart is strong. Don't forget those you care about and you'll be able to withstand the deepest chill. If that doesn't work, warm your blood with rage and violence against evil."

Jaela reaches over to take Mirajane's hand in her own, smiling at her encouragingly.
