"Thank you, Jaela," Afina says, sure to find a good use for that spell. As they come out onto the platform she peers down into the chasm and then looks at the tunnel their current path takes them on. "We all have wings, there's no reason to stick to the obvious path," she decides, veering into open air and starting to descend into the chasm alongside the falling unfrozen water.

"Is that your seer's opinion?" Afina asks Mirajane as they descend. Personally she was thinking there might be something nice down here to reward those who think beyond the obvious.

"No, just my common sense," Mirajane quips as you fly on down. As you do, cold mists from the plunging waters begin to obscure things. It's chilly and clings to your skin, as well as starting to reduce your range of vision.

Afina's senses are sharp enough not to be bothered by a little mist, though she slows down her descent enough to properly take advantage of them.

Both of you can feel it, sense it. Ice is gathering around all of you in a coating, something Mirajane seems to notice as well, since her eyes go wide. Tiny bits, barely perceptible under the best circumstances, but in a steady manner. Stealthily covering you, working almost perfectly unseen.

"Mother," Mirajane says, "Can you fly if your wings freeze up and lock into place?"

"Ye-- fuck, no, I lost the spell with my fancy circlet! But I bet I could glide," Jaela responds. "Can you see how far we are from the bottom?"

She spreads her wings all the way to create the largest drag, and then decides to form another pair of wings from yellow light. Magical light can cut through things and stop gases, depending on coloration, so maybe it could slow her down if the need occurs and she hits on the right color?

She could try summoning some air elementals which wouldn't be bothered by frost, but the actual cold of the plane itself would kill them fairly quickly. "Hanna, you're really strong aren't you?" she flies over and lands atop the planetar's head, imbuing her with the power to walk on air. "Carry us!"
