It's a trap. Massive voltage is going to flow through the room and anyone in it if it's touched or the rod is moved in the slightest. What's worst ist hat this lightning will cleave through resistance and immunity like it's not there.

Moving the rod is a good way to die, unless you're really, really, really fast and really, really, really good. That or take dismemberment with a grunt, like Cresiel.

Would logic dictate a Disjunction would likely be powerful enough to stave off the trap for long enough to grab it?

If you can manage to make the dispel check, sure, you don't see why not.

Moore hustles everyone out of the room after giving an explanation and plays a small song on his harp -- then asks Jetina to try, since her magic is a bit stronger than his for this sort of thing!

Since I think Disjunction caps at +20, we'll have Jetina use Superb Dispelling.

Definitely not in the same room with the rod. If we can get an entire room away from it that would be ideal.

Okay, just remember you need line of sight to it, so Jetina has to be able to see it.

[Nephrite]

Right. We'll just have to hope being as far away (but still in line of sight) is enough for us to not die here! Since the trap itself said the room, my understanding is it'd be localized to the room the rod is in, so it is further my understanding where we are is beyond that.

That is fine, regardless.

[Anastasia]

The dispel fires - and nothing happens a moment, before lightning fills the room. Jetina grimaces and steps back, but it only arches in the doorway, no more.

"To risk being obvious, it really didn't work," Jetina says. "Not in the slightest."

Moore smiles. "That's okay, just try again. You can do it!"
