"Then I apologise for my tardiness," Alicia says, tabulating those figures. This place would've been pretty quiet back then after the war against Daa-vid was concluded and this world sealed off. "What is your name, and how do we begin here?"

[Anastasia]

Syala's expression softens, "You have my thanks as well. If nothing is awry, I will see to it that your superiors know you have preformed excellently."

"I am Chrona 42, of the line of Chrona Quaruts." The quarut bows to you smoothly, "Merely wander and explore. You may branch outward from here or leave and proceed from outside to here. The choice is yours. I will be with you if you require advice, though I will not participate directly, as I have been commanded not to. Marie, as a proxy you are safe from the worst of the temporal anomalies here, but still, be careful."

"I have these from when we went to get the Fourth Resort," Marie says, holding up her hands to show the bracers of time resting snugly on her wrists. "Will they do?"

[20:57] <Kotono> "That is a sample of Quicksilver, mined in fast moving time currents." He answers. The bracelets do resize, thankfully. "The bracers will protect you from being magically aged by the enchantments of the Magus of Time."

[Anastasia]

"That will suffice," Chronos 42 declares, "I am now at your service. Proceed with this as you desire."

[Ebiris]

"Is there a route that would see us begin with more basic elements of time manipulation?" Alicia asks, figuring she may as well start with the easy stuff and work up. The mural gets glanced at and she adds, "What was this structure before you preserved it?"

[Anastasia]

"From the outside of the city, enter. It is that way so that any soul who stumbled on it would be exposed to the least possible danger." Chronos 42 explains, "A mage's hall, already in ruin from the war against the God-King. It was a mage's settlement once on a time."

She supposes this place was picked with her in mind. "Then lets teleport to the Southern edge and work our way in," she says, vanishing away to do just that. Marie follows but again gets held up on Alicia's anticipate teleport spell, leaving Alicia by herself for a few seconds on arrival before the others arrive.

[Anastasia]

While you wait on Marie and Syala, the quarut simply appears the moment you do. "I moved backwards in time a moment to be here just before your greater anticipate teleport spell would affect the area." He answers without being asked. A microscopic adjustment of time such as that is trivial for anyone skilled in using the Weave."

That does seem rife with possibilities though. "What circle of spell would it be equivalent to?" she asks. "Does movement through time follow a similar progression as movement through space from spells like dimension door up to gate?"

[Anastasia]

"A third circle spell," Chrona replies, "It does. Greater movement requires greater power in the Weave. Though true, unlimited time travel is beyond the nine mortal circles of magic. They can manage centuries and millenia as a 9th circle spell."

"What about going forward in time, how does that work?" she asks. "Is it related to Fate or Destiny?"

[Anastasia]

"That is the limitation. We are in the present."

This is stopped by Syala and Marie appearing, and in a split second they relive this conversation, catching up just like that.

"Ahem," The Inevitable clears his throat, "We are in the present. We can go into the past, but we cannot go into the future, for it is not yet made. A metaphor may help. Imagine we are a single star an empty night sky. As we fly forward, we leave light behind us. We can look back and see the light behind us, for it has been made. But we cannot see ahead, for it is not yet made light, for there is nothing but darkness."

Syala has a hand on her hip as she adds, "I follow that much, but then how can someone go into the past, since during the past the past was the present?"

Chrona clears his throat again - a rather rattling sound, a fleck of strange greenish oil escaping his mouth. Bright green, luminescent. "The present is an absolute thing. Creation followed a path forward in time. When you travel back, you are in the past relative to that absolute moment of the present. The star has already been there, the light is shed. Time itself can be traveled, yet the absolute present is a constant beyond that."
