From the skies they are born. Vast flights of nalfeshnee, carried on wings of ice. Their stomachs are vast and bulging, each split open to ooze ripe yellow fluids. They seek to crowd out the land and sky completely, a challenge to stop even the two of you.

Above. Below. Beside. Giant jagged columns of dark blue crystal erupt out of the Abyss, absorbing and confining everything they touch. Leeching the life from even abyssal horrors to fuel their own arcane growth they grow and become ever deadlier with every life they take. And 666 has provided a bounty of lives to fuel their advance.

Reflex DC of 43 causes a victim to be flung clear rather than absorbed by the crystal. I know you tend to just roll group saves but I figure at least some are going to get caught out and as they die the spell gets worse for everyone else.

Each crystal starts as 60 feet high/20 foot radius, growing by 5 feet in both measures with every creature slain and raising the damage by 1d6 (to a maximum of 50d6). Anything caught needs to make a DC 30 strength check and a DC 50 escape artist check as a full round action to move 5 feet through the crystal.


As they form, Alicia flies onwards, not wanting to be caught in the advance of that cursed crystal herself.

Also I just remembered I get a free purify/consecrate 1/day from my armour so I'll use that on the one from below hitting the wretches. That ups the damage one step vs evil outsiders and does no damage to good creatures. Handy in case that one gets out of control.

The crystal blunts the initial balor charge, acid green lashes whipping at it to no avail. Several of the demons are entombed within, struggling against their prison with the mindless rage of a berserker. Yet others stop to the sides, not checked enough, and lash out with those terrible, flaming whips. Green fire soars towards you and Antenora, a burning rebuke to both of you.

Ref saves, both. Half fire and half acid damage, so note if immune to both.

Both made the save. Half acid, half fire. Antenora is fire immune and resistance to acid 20. So 30 damage before resistance gets through, and acid resistance eats 20 of that. 10 damage.


The acid hisses against both of you as you hold your ground longer yet. Long enough to endure, while below the wretches are held back for the moment by the crystal prison. It buys you time, yet it's not over. From the nalfeshnee lightning rains down, brutal and bitter storms of unholy wrath to slam you further.

2x quickened sunlances above and below, and a wave of fatigue back at the hawk before Alicia flies forward to catch up with Antenora.
