Emily appears instantly. The vampire shrinks back but she smiles, "Normally," she goes on, "The living dead already died. The simplest thing to do is slay them and so that if the soul remains, it can be free to move on. But sometimes the answer is not the rest of death, but the embrace of life. I don't yet have the ability to gift life freely, but this will do."

At this the vampire stills, "Please," he says in a quiet voice, "Live or die, but this is no way to exist."

"In that," Emily says, "You have seen real wisdom. Dark and flawed you may be, but you understand that undeath is a mockery." Emily reaches out and touches his forehead, hand against, palm first. The touch causes pale, waxy skin to become alive and warm. It spreads throughout him, vitality returned.

Immediately he collapses and holds his stomach, "Hunger's normal," Emily adds, as she pulls a loaf of soft bread and several fruits from nowhere. He snatches on them with animal fury, "Especially for a vampire that never drank blood." A pitcher of water follow those, "Eat and drink."

Alyssa watches with a small smile, 'Congrats. Going to try to make him into a follower?'

'Yes,' Emily says as the food is devoured. 'He needs a better path than what he chased on Acheron.'

'Well, he's the only living witness so far. Get him situated. If his research isn't enough, we may need to use my memory spell to see it first hand.'

Assuming this is all true? It wasn't other wizards or a deity. It does, however, look to be a unique magical item. Possibly an artifact. It all seems to come from one source, one of tremendous magical power. From what you can figure out, it's geared for destruction and did so quite well.
