Have to agree with Ana here.

A story doesn't have to be serious to be good.  Though, out of curiosity, which stories prompted this?

It was a ZnT/Madoka one. The writing on it blew everything I wrote before. Feels like I'm writing See Spot Run compared to it.

http://forums.spacebattles.com/showthread.php?t=199414 : Here's the link. It's dark, though.

It makes me want to write a counter fic where Louise fails her summoning, but winds up becoming a better person for it, but I don't think I can ever approach the level of writing in this story.

The essence of mastery isn't being able to do lots of stuff, it's knowing exactly what you are and are not capable of doing.

... or, uh, something like that.

It's dramatic, but honestly ... doesn't feel like FoZ.  Louise starts off sympathetic, for one.  Making things grim and angsty makes them seem more dramatic, but thst's not always auotmagically better.

I thought it was okay, but a bit overdone.  Will give it points over Louise summoning one of the regular cast, so it's at least more original....

Amen. Knowing your limits is a big part of mastery, so that you can push your limits to improve and avoid problematic areas.

hum.  We've contracted highly in games being run.

Dune, Eb, Cid, and Dune are the only live DMs at the moment.  Sadness.  Good opportunity though for someone to quickly get players as there's clearly 3-5 people sitting on the fringes to game.
Well, Goodbye.

No one remembers me saying the things I said.

Sometimes, I wonder if I just think about saying things and never remember to do it.

God damnit.

Come again?

Kidding, kidding.

I have that problem every so often when I DM. Drives me apeshit crazy. I try not to take it personally, since people are people and make mistakes.

Oh, I shouldn't really complain.  -_-

On the whole it was a good day ... but I do have to be in the office at 8:00 AM tomorrow.

And the AC will be off, because it's the weekend.

If things go well, I will only have to work three hours!

If they do not, I will be working until Sunday.

Oh no, complain away. Bitching is good for the soul.

There's a storage expo/trade show that my company is going for (avoiding specifics for casual googling >.>).  In a distant city.

Long and short of it, a piece of equipment is being demoed, and all of our field agents and marketing engineers are onsite to escort this precious baby of a demo all the way to and through the show, because if it falls over we look ... pretty bad.  This morning, for example, we were so short on everyone else that since I happened to be the first QA guy in, when something blew up in the marketing department, they ran over to beg me for help to fix it.

So, I spent half of the day as a sales engineer (actually talked to a customer; had been a while).  Was actually kind of a fun change of pace.

Unfortunately, it's also a preview of what's going to be happening to me tomorrow.  There shouldn't be any sales guys, but if the field reps and higher-up engineers need something done, or me to send a file over (a distinct possibility), then ... since everyone else is busy (the old man is flying out tomorrow morning at like ... 5:00 AM), I have to be the guy in the lab.

Basically, they shouldn't need me for anything.

...but they might.  And there's a lot of money riding on this ... evidently my help this morning saved a six figure deal, which I'm glad no one mentioned to me until after I was done....

So, yeah, on the positive side, the marketing team loves me, and my lunch fortune cookie read, "You will gain the respect of someone influential," right after I finished the job, so that was a pretty sweet deal.  Hoping this is enough momentum to catapult me to full-time.

That's a pain in the ass, but a worthwhile pain in the ass. G'luck with it!
