I asked Dracos about OST reviews a while ago, and he didn't find anything wrong with the idea. That said, here goes.

Tylor OST Review
Composed by Kenji Kawai.

©1992 Seven Seas Music Co. Ltd.
Released through "Stufftoonz."

This is a review of the English version.

Well, what can I say? Aside from being a fan of the series, I like Mr. Kawai's work very much. If you have ever seen either of the Ghost in the Shell movies (not Stand-Alone Complex) you are familiar with some of his stuff. I hesitate to mention his work in those movies because they do not reflect at all any of the work on this CD. Mr. Kawai also did the music for Patlabor: Mobile Police, but I have never seen or heard any of it. He has done various pieces for Ranma ½, and also Blue Seed, Burn Up!, Gunparade March, and many others.

Mr. Kawai is very flexible, and the tracks range from the romantic and dreamy "Yuriko Star - It's You I Dream of..." to the tranquil first part of "Ru Baraba Dom: Warrior" to the dramatic "Azalyn – Age 16." (Like many OST CDs, this compilation usually has two pieces per track, with a short space in between.) Depending on which track you're listening to, the music can have lots of violins, saxophones, synthesizers, or a slight jazzy feel. There are three vocal tracks.

The only things that disappointed me were that there was one track I particularly liked from the series that wasn't on here, and that the beginning of the opening theme is a little different from the TV version.

If you've seen the series, you know what you're listening to. If you haven't, I would recommend this CD for someone who likes a slight jazz influence, or just soundtrack music in general. I tend to be rather open to all forms of music (Folk to Funkadelic), and I enjoyed every minute of this CD greatly.

Score: 10/10
