I've been trying to put off thinking about this one.

Okay, so ... now Blizzard is suggesting they will allow a one-time server move.  In the future (probably when all of the server hullabaloo is sorted out already, anyway).

If they do so, should we move the guild to a lower population RP server?

I'd like your thoughts and opinions on this one.

I would like to hear more about it:
1)  what happens with out of guild friendships
2)  how do we determine server population?
3)  if we move, what guarantees us that the server we go to doesn't over populate
4)  Is 1 time inside a defined time period or at anytime, just once.

If i have more questions I'll ask.  But because of point 1, I'd be reluctant to move, though willing.

I wasn't exactly eager to bring this question up.  :/

I also have friends that aren't in the guild, and don't relish the thought of switching to a server where they aren't.

Truth be told, I don't see overpopulation as an issue until the queues come back.  But then, I guess being a lowbie, I might not really have as much perspective on that....

Yeah, I agree on the 'What if the new server gains the same problems?' question.

Though do to my usual grouping style, I don't have too many friends on the server that I would miss much if we moved so that's not a problem.

So my answer is 'Meh.' :)

1) what happens with out of guild friendships

They'd either come with us or we'd lose them.

2) how do we determine server population?

Not really an issue . . . there are other RP servers (and Blizz may start another) with far lower populations than Silver Hand.

--

3) if we move, what guarantees us that the server we go to doesn't over populate

Momentum (the big influx is over now), and Blizzard won't let the -majority- of people move.  People who want to play with other people they know will go in higher percentage to the bigger server (Silver Hand as opposed to the knew one).  he smaller servers will never catch up to the big ones now.  I would bet money that said server would never catch up to Silver Hand in size.

4) Is 1 time inside a defined time period or at anytime, just once.

Almost certainly inside a defined time period.  Educated guess, but by far the most likely scenario.

I don't want to move . . . losing friends on the server and the fact that I'm gradually getting a handle on the whole community isn't,  for me, worth the lag and queue problems.  But then, I realize they're worse for other people than they are for me . . .

Actually, I disagree with Rez. There aren't that many RP servers and they tend to get pretty high population.

Cenarion Circle would have to be out because I've already got plenty of characters on there and I don't want to have to delete some just to bring my Alliance ones over. =\

Personally, I'm hoping the people who aren't actually interested in roleplaying will leave the role play servers.  There are aquaitences on SH that I'd hate to not see again and while I can't guarantee they won't leave, it's probably the people who actually participate on the SH forum who won't leave, and those are the more interesting ones.

At any rate, I'm not in favour of moving right now. I think it would be wise to wait and see what happens.
The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.
