It's baaaaaaack. Or was it already, I can't remember.

This one has some one-liners that actually got me chuckling. Nice nice nice! Humor's really getting up there.
"Those who show others the way must not avert their eyes from the weight of responsibility."

Za, it just went up this morning.
Well, Goodbye.

It's always nice when you find a good fanfic with a good archive that's still ongoing and updating regularly that you can binge read in a single day :D

I'm going to need your signature for the metric ton of whoop-ass you're about to receive.

"A 'Cult'? Such disrespect for other people's beliefs."
"You enslave minds!"
"And I believe that's okay."

Kinda neat setup, Naruto traveling between modern and ninja world.  But has lots of weird parts too.

I remember that one. Also remember it hasn't updated in two years.

What does the phrase 'Halcyon Days' mean anyway? I've heard it multiple times before.

Ideal peaceful days.  Based off the Greek myth of Halcyone, who was turned into a sea-faring bird to reunite with her husband.  Per the myth, one of the gods stops the winds on the Med for a few days, so that the bird can (lay eggs?  hatch them?  It's been awhile since I've read any Greek myths, so I don't quite recall)

I also looking it up. One translation I got that also makes sense is 'when days were better'

I've just started reading To the Stars and it's hooked me right in.

"Kyubey promised that humanity will reach the stars one day. The Incubator tactfully refrained from saying too much about what they would find there."

The setting's really evocative of a crumbling post-scarcity society, and the primary viewpoint character is as relatable as an ennui-stricken teenager in such a world can be. It's a whopper at 400k+ words, but the first few chapters have done a great job of grabbing my interest; dribbling out mysteries just waiting to be pieced together.

I tried that one and ran into the opposite problem. The premise looked interesting, but it just didn't hook me at all. It is well written, though.

It's generally used in way with a sense of wistful nostalgia.  If you watch a movie and a character thinks back to her days of her innocent childhood ("O[sic] for those lost days of sweet youth"), then she is thinking of Halcyone days.

For a parody of this (which may put the general use of the word in context), see http://www.theonion.com/articles/area-man-down-to-final-week-of-heyday,2680/

Obviously, since I posted about it twice earlier, I'm one of the ones who are hooked.   But it's certainly one of those stories where you have to like reading about settings as much as action.   Because the fic has quite a lot of it, even if it is in the context of character interactions.

Spoiler: ShowHide

Surprisingly, the Hero Faction doesn't play much of a part this chapter. Also, *shudder* politics. But, well, Arisato has an answer to that!
