This one will be brief as I'm only reviewing the prelude to SSJ, which is only 50 minutes long. Basically a boring retelling of a historical tale of fuedal Japan involving a war. Oh yes, it opens up with an alien kid crash landing, not that aliens have anything to do with it. He's a ninja that can disappear and stop time (once for each in the show). The primary speaker is the narrator, with an incredibly dry historical narration.

Aside from artwork, the special has nothing going for it. No characterization, an assumption your familiar with all of the ninjas buddies, and a bland dialogue make for a bland show. Maybe the TV series was better, but the special was a dry waste of time.

3 out of 10. It loses a point for being extra long and only managing to be more bland.
