Saradush, the city, *was* neatly laid out and divided, and it will probably end up that way again. Because of the construction work things are a little chaotic, but most of the important things are easy to find. Laid out in a circular fashion, the main street of the city starts from the main gate and ends at the largish town hall, where the mayor resides. It's got most of the shops on it and it's reconstruction is basically complete. It's been built to be appealing; lined with pine trees and a neatly tiled road. In the centre of the city is a fountain, filled with coppers and silvers in the hopes that it will grant a wish.

The people of Saradush are generally lively and hopeful. Having seen the worst in the recent war, they're ready to begin afresh. That said, there's plenty of widows and crippled soldiers who think otherwise, and languish around feeling sorry for themselves.

The wall of Saradush is still incomplete, but the fact that collared giants are working on fixing it means that it won't take long. The wall is unusually high, however, perhaps so that those on the ramparts can better fight giants.

Places of Note

Saradush Town Hall is an old building that wasn't destroyed back in the fighting. Somewhat ostentatious, it uses old-style architecture, featuring plenty of marble pillars and statues. A well-kept lawn and hedge fence is out the front. Inside is what you'd expect of such a place; dutious officials, old-fashioned paintings, offices, and naturally, Lord Castor Langley's rooms.

The Second Wind is a new inn, recently built, and has been described as 'loud and colourful'. It's frequented mainly by soldiers and the construction workers, and has a hearty air. The barkeep doesn't have much in the way of fine drink, but plenty of ale, and the place is doing a lively trade. Etna stays here, theoretically. Her table, to the back of the inn in a corner, is never used by anyone else, oddly.

The Inn With No Name was around before the war but got damaged. It's fixed now, however, but it's very.. typical. The patrons are unremarkable. The barkeep is unremarkable. The drinks range from wine to ale, and some are quite good, but there aren't any new tastes to be found here. Nobody seems to speak much, yet nobody feels uncomfortable entering, either. It's here that most of the group is staying.

The Church of Waukeen has reputedly donated large sums of money to the rebuilding of the city, and has reaped good rewards for it's efforts. With their reputation in the area enhanced, they sponsor many minor merchants of the city and even use their temple as the location of a popular market, from where all sorts of things can be purchased. Willing to buy or sell just about anything for their eminently fair prices, the church is doing well for itself, and there are few complaints to be heard about it.

The Barracks, sitting in one corner of the city, houses and trains some 300 soldiers. The guard has been increased from it's former amount, and they have several fast riders able to quickly reach nearby cities and castles for help. The barracks directly adjoins the wall, and the commander doesn't like outsiders coming near it at all.

The Blacksmith Shop accounts for these outsiders appearing at all, as it's right next to the barracks. Just off the main street, the blacksmith and his apprenti forge all kinds of weapons for the army, but they also take comissions and have been known to produce some very fine gear.

Linda's House, somewhere amongst the suburbia of Saradush. Al'Maz knows where it is, and it doesn't look terribly special- except, perhaps, for the fact that it's the only intact building, surrounded on all sides by things under construction. Guess Linda just got lucky, huh.

General Supplies are easy to obtain either at some of the smaller shops in Saradush or from the Church of Waukeen. Most any mundane item is avaliable for purchase, as are minor clerical magic items. There's a curious lack of any arcane mageware shop or the like, however.

The Farms; Saradush began as a farming community and it still shows this by being mostly self-supporting. The exterior of the city is mostly farmland, growing hardy crops suitable for the tough soil of Tethyr. There's not really much to say, they're just farms, after all.
