Honestly, I don't really buy into what I said there. The entire MOM thing with him wasn't really a sexist thing, though it's easy to pretend otherwise. It's just stupidity all around and a commanding officer who is various shades of incompetent.

I think it's subtle, and unintentional, but legitimately there -- if it's only a side-effect of using an all-male cast to counterpoint Samus.  Anyway, we're wandering enough that I'm suspecting we might want to split this out again if we keep chatting about it, but consider:

It wouldn't have the sexist subtones, but it'd still come off as retarded and demeaning to the character.  It also implies a knowledge of her entire set of equipment that really is eyebrow raising given the lack of such equipment in their own gear.  It was really a terrible idea, especially when applied to defensive gear.
