[23:18] <@Maz> "How about going to see if we can find Ardandamus at the market?" Maz suggests. "There is still the matter of our payment, after all."
[23:19] <@Thrall> "Sounds like a good idea," Thrall nods, smiling toothily. This trip to Darromar has been incredibly profitable, potential impending death notwithstanding...
[23:19] * @Maz pets Relly, and stands up. "Well, no time like the present, I suppose...."
[23:22] <@Seraphin> "Money is good," Seraphin murmurs softly, relaxed seeming after the tension and upheavals of the past week, and that whole dying thing.
[23:24] <@Carthrat> The market, being a bustle of money and goods has never slowed. Reaching it, you can see a blue-clad woman standing near a stall... Alicia, it seems, bearing a scar across her cheek that wasn't there when last you met.
[23:24] * @Maz waves at Alicia, making her way towards the woman.
[23:25] <@Carthrat> Alicia waves back. Now that you're closer, you can see tiny nicks in her armour and dress.
[23:26] <@Thrall> Looks like they weren't the only ones to have some excitement, Thrall reflects as he follows after Maz, giving the blonde girl a nod in greeting.
[23:27] <@Maz> "You're Alicia, not her twin, right?" Maz asks cheerfully as she comes close enough to have a conversation with her.
[23:29] <@Carthrat> "I am indeed," replies Alicia, not sounding very cheerful. "Is it over?"
[23:29] * @Maz nods. "Calenstat and his evil reign of terror and domination have been stopped."
[23:31] <@Carthrat> "Thank Tymora," mutters Alicia. "We can all breathe a little easier..."
[23:31] <@Maz> "So what's with the long face?" Maz asks her. "Were you worried for us?"
[23:33] <@Carthrat> "It's... even though the dominations are over, I fear that most of the thralls have already perished," replies Alicia, shaking her head. "See, there was been no hue or cry... no news. I know the the Cleric Captain of Tempus is alive and free, as are some other nobles.. but it is as if most involved simply vanished."
[23:34] * @Maz nods again. "It seems Calenstat's boss was using them as fuel for his dark, evil magicks."
[23:35] <@Carthrat> "So their souls, perhaps, do not truly rest?" she asks, sounding very sad indeed.
[23:36] * @Maz shrugs. "I'd like to think they got their rest after we destroyed the evil creation consuming them."
[23:36] * @Thrall frowns, recalling what he saw amid the pile of corpses, but offers no comment.
[23:37] <@Carthrat> "Then, hopefully, it is well," she replies, nodding. "I apologize for meeting you alone, but both my companion magi were incapacitated. I promise you'll get your gold, though."
[23:38] <@Maz> "I see." Maz cocks her head, looking at Alicia with curiousity. "Do they need healing? We could offer it to your friends, free of charge."
[23:39] * @Seraphin raises her eyebrows at that, though staying quiet, and brushing her fingers across the simple black choker she wears to hide the scar of her death. Seems like someone else had a rocky time of it too.
[23:42] <@Carthrat> "They could use that," she replies, nodding. "We were unsure, see, if we could approach a cleric of the city. Follow me." She leads you through the market and towards the middle-class suburbs, stopping at an inn titled the Glass Spear. Upstairs, lying on a pair of beds, you find Ashton and Ardandanus, both of whom are awake. They don't look too bad, apart from the bandages around the torso and arm.
[23:43] <@Maz> "Fancy meeting you here," Maz greets them, following Alicia into the room.
[23:44] <@Carthrat> Ashton stares up into the ceiling, while Ardandanus sits himself up on the bed. "Ah. Hello. Is my old master currently enjoying the subtle tormets of the abyss?"
[23:44] <@Seraphin> "Well at least they're in better condition than I was..." Seraphin mutters softly to herself.
[23:44] <@Maz> "One can only hope!" Maz chirps.
[23:47] <@Carthrat> "I am hoping very hard indeed," he replies, nodding. "Now, if you want your money, ah, I will need to write a letter for you." Painfully, he reaches over to a small desk between the beds, apparently getting a quill and some parchment.
[23:47] * @Maz glances at Kethean, and makes a nudging motion with her head towards Ardandamus.
[23:49] * @Kethean nods and heads to the injured parties, giving a cursory glance at how much healing he should be using. Would some cure light wounds be more than enough?
[23:50] <@Carthrat> Ashton and Ardandanus look beat up and certainly should be confined to bed. A cure light wounds would probably do a world of good.
[23:53] * @Kethean converts his Bless and Bane spells each to cure light wounds spells, one for each of the two injured men.
[23:53] <@Carthrat> OOC: Which one first
[23:53] <@Kethean> roll 1d8+3
[23:53] * +Hatbot --> "Kethean rolls 1d8+3 and gets 4."12 [1d8=1]
[23:53] <@Kethean> Ashton
[23:53] <@Carthrat> OOC: Good man
[23:53] <@Kethean> roll 1d8+3
[23:53] * +Hatbot --> "Kethean rolls 1d8+3 and gets 5."12 [1d8=2]
[23:53] <@Kethean> ooc: I Saul'ed!
[23:58] * @Kethean checks how effective the spells where to see first if he should use up more of his spells for healing.
[23:58] <@Carthrat> The two men make themselves a little more comfortable as Kethean heals them, looking better already. Ardandanus proceeds to write a letter, on which he casts a spell. He promptly hands it to Kethean, who sees that it is a letter of marque for the Temple of Waukeen; good for 3,000 gold, and with a glowing arcane symbol as a signiature.
[23:59] <@Kethean> "Ah, thank you," Kethean replies as he takes the letter and looks at it over briefly.
[23:59] * @Maz looks somewhat disappointed, and steps back to let Kethean handle things.
[00:02] <@Kethean> "Are you too well enough, or would some more healing help?" Kethean offers.
[00:04] <@Carthrat> "More would always be welcome," replies Ardandanus. "But we should be fine with rest and time, assuming no more black-clad assassins strike us in the night."
[00:05] <@Carthrat> "Do you still have Calenstat's spellbook?"
[00:05] <@Thrall> "Hopefully there'll be less of them in town after our work..." Thrall mutters quietly from by the door.
[00:06] <@Maz> "That depends," Maz muses. "Would you abuse it for great evil?"
[00:06] <@Seraphin> "Well, since I'm leaving..." Seraphin offers, snickering softly to herself. "I haven't done much of that recently, though."
[00:06] * @Kethean nods. "I shall allow your bodies to finish their healing work naturally then," Kethean replies, while letting Maz handle the issue of the book.
[00:07] <@Carthrat> "I would like to think not," he replies, cocking an eyebrow.
[00:07] <@Maz> "Then I could probably find it somewhere in my robe," Maz announces cheerfully, not making a move to do so.
[00:09] <@Carthrat> "Yet I see a lack of such intention or action," replies Ardandanus, sighing wearily.
[00:10] <@Maz> "Have you got your own?" Maz asks him. "We did agree to exchange them."
[00:14] <@Carthrat> "I do," he replies, pulling it from the table. Similar in style to Calenstat's, but with red backing and the like.
[00:15] * @Maz pulls out Calenstat's book, holding it in her arm. "Then all that's left is to do this exchange," she says with a shrug. "Though would you be averse to letting me study a couple of divination spells from it some day? One of them really proved itself by leading us straight to Calenstat's hideout."
[00:16] <@Carthrat> "To be honest, I have no issue with that," replies Ardandanus, handing back his own. "Obviously, mine is lacking in such things, but for what you've done, I'm perfectly willing to allow you to copy spells."
[00:17] <@Maz> "I have a few non-standard spells myself," Maz says, taking his book as she hands him Calenstat's. "And some more casting principles my family formalized. I could see this future exchange being mutually benefitial."
[00:18] <@Maz> "Speaking of family," she adds casually, "I have an identical sister who likes sharp pointy things. She's evil, so avoid her."
[00:19] <@Carthrat> "I know how that works," sings Alicia. "Don't worry, they mellow out with age."
[00:19] <@Maz> "Excellent!" Maz exclaims. "She's supposed to be my subordinate, anyway, and I could use one."
[00:20] <@Carthrat> "When you want to trade notes, come to the mage guild," says Ardandanus, perking up.
[00:20] <@Maz> "I'll be sure to do that," Maz says, nodding.
<Steph> I might have made a terrible mistake
