Carthrat Tanewaki

Height: 6"5
Weight: Lighter than he looks.
Hair: Black, shoulderlength.
Eyes: Blue
Complexion: Tanned white male.

Appearance: Carthrat is typically wearing Carthratware(tm), which consists of plated boots (with a piece of rubber between the plate and the shoe), long black pants, a red singlet-vest, black jacket, and long black cloak.

All the fabric within these is Spider Silk laced with adamantine. This unique fabric is highly resistant to shock and pressure, allowing Carthrat to absorb far more damage than it seems he should, and even without the vest, he  can absorb a fair amount of punishment. He also wears two adamantine bracers underneath his jacket, which allow great blocking power. He's quite solidly built, and very strong.

For reference to his spider-silk/adamintine clothing, it won't STOP a bullet, but it'd slow it down enough so it's unlikely to cause a serious injury.

The only exception to Adamantine clothing is Carthrat's red vest, which is made of Orhicalcon/Cotton thread. This provides his chest with some ability to shrug off magical attacks, but by no means gives him invincibilty towards them.

Equipment:

Cloak of Concealing. Carthrat has used several odd technologies to cause this cloak to hide what he carries within it on on his person. Things the cloak overlaps will not be spotted by a casual viewer, and most people who inspect Carthrat will not notice his firepower. Someone doing a proper search is likely to discern something, though. The cloak also has an N-Space capacitator, making things within his cloak far smaller and easier to organize. Carthrat can carry about twice as much as he could with a regular cloak.

9mm internally silenced pistol w/lasersight. Worn on the bottom of his leg. Carries around 3 spare standard clips on his utility belt, and two FMJ clips, one of which is equipped with exploding bullets.

Custom .60 Desert Eagle (self-modified) w/sonic enhancer MP. Packs a mighty punch, and when the sonic enhancer is equipped, it deafens opponents and often sends them flying back a couple feet. Resonates glass. Carries four spare clips, each equipped with 6 mercury-filled bullets. Hip holster.

Modified FN/P90 Assualt Rifle, equipped with an attachable scope and attachable silencer. Can be set to full auto, 3 bullet burst, or single shot fire capablities. Has a small tracking computer attached to it. The scope, when used, provides a threat indicator, and can see in infra-red and electromagnetic spectrums. Carthrat carries two spare clips, and wears this on his hip.

Tachyon Disrupter, equipped with a scope. The scope has an internal rangefinder, and can discern exactly what pulling the trigger is going to cause. The scope has an internal threat indicator, and automatically adjusts the barrel for maximum accuracy.

A Tachyon Disrupter is a semi-automatic weapon which runs off a charge. Carthrat has several types of power-packs for a Tachyon disrupter, which recharge through kinetic force (i.e. as Carthrat walks around). Each has enough charge for 20 shots. Roughly every kilometre Carthrat walks recharges a single shot.

Charge 1) Compacted Burst. This burst of extremely hot and powerful energy travels through the air exceedingly fast and rips a hole through stuff it hits, and has a tendancy to keep going. The beam is no wider than a bullet, and packs enough punch to go through a tank and come out the other side. It also has plenty of range, but it is difficult to calibrate for longer than three kilometres.

Charge 2) Detonation blast. Basically, a rocket. The energy blast travels slower than a compacted burst, but packs a mighty punch when it hits something. The explosion it causes on impact with solid matter is roughly 4 metres wide, and can rip a large hole into most solid surfaces. It is not an effective anti-infantry weapon, but is adept at making holes in buildings and taking out vehicles.

Charge 3) Cutting beam. With an incredible range on 30 metres, this beam creates a constant stream of energy which can cut through almost anything. However, it burns out charge rather quickly, at an astonishing rate of one charge every three seconds.

Carthrat has two Compacted Burst charges, and one charge for each of the other kinds.

2x F-1 Fragmentation Grenades: Do you honestly need me to describe this one? @_@

2x Napalm: Firebomb.

2x Flashbang: A flashbang goes 'flash' and 'bang', blinding and deafening those unfortunate enough to not block their ears and shut their eyes.

2x Smoke Grenade: White, thick smoke.

2x Plasma Bomb: Now we're getting somewhere. This thing unleashes a rolling wave of plasma detonations for about 10 metres in every direction.

1x X-Bomb: This thing can take down a building.

All grenades are kept within Carthrat's cloak, and they have special safety catches, so they aren't gonna go off unless he wants them too.

Multiscanner: Carthrat's multiscanner is of his own creation, and can analyse pretty much anything (unless it's magical, in which case he gets "Anomaly Detected".). It provides information on weapons, probable power, biological information (of which ki/chi is a part), possible weaknesses, etc. etc. Can be used to discern injuries as well, and contains information on healing. Also capable of discern illnesses, etc.

Vibro-knives: Carthrat has two: One on his utility belt, and one in his boot. He also has about 7 more knives on various places on his body at any one time.

Hypo's: Drugs used by Carthrat to enhance physical characteristics.

2x B-Zerk. A huge adredaline boost, this often causes extreme rage in whoever it is used on, giving them increased strength and power. Side Effects: After the boost wears off, the subject typically faints. Continual use makes them required for normal action.

2x I-zoom. Increase the capabilities of someones sensory powers; eyes, ears, etc. Affected individual can see far better and longer than the average person, and the same applies to their hearing as well. Side effects: Reduces effectiveness of eyes and ears by a slight amount each use. Constant use will make it required to simple have normal vision and hearing.

1x ESP. Growth. Increase the ESP potential of a person, i.e. sensing anomalies, magic, chi/ki, ghosts, ETC. VERY effective, but side effects include partial brain damage after extended use.

Watch: Carthrat's watch is much like James Bond's. It contains a small-range cutting laser and a highly tensile hook-cord, two cyanide darts, and a small, detachable tracking bug, which is linked to Carthrat's scanner.

Jynx the Mechanical Scouting Cockroach: Linked up to 'Rat's scanner, Jynx is capable of relaying information to Carthrat from a radius of 10 kilometres. Comes with a rather nasty Final Attack in case threatened: leaps towards the opponent, and detonates.

The Multitool: A somewhat chunkier swiss army knife, coming equipped with a drill, a wrench, several kinds of screwdriver, and about a million other unidentifyable functions...

<->Melee

Carthrat is capable of using a Zweihander or a Tetsubo quite well. He can also pick up most other weapons that rely on a great deal of strength to use. He's not quite so handy with something like a rapier.

Special Techniques

Flame Edge: When wielding a Zweihander (and only a Zweihander), Carthrat is capable of focusing his rage and energy through it, causing it to burst into flame for roughly five seconds.

Rocket Jump: When wielding a Tetsubo (and only a Tetsubo), Carthrat is capable of creating a small, focused explosion , which can propel him a great distance into the air.

Carthrat is brash and arrogant, and he has the right to be. A brilliant scientist and combat veteran, he can usually outwit, outthink, or plain outgun most foes he comes across. He's seen about a million kinds of weird shit throughout his travels, and he still belives there's a scientific explanation for it all. People say he's wrong, but he thinks he's right, and he quests on to discover stuff like how the soul can exist, how it gets your conciousness from heaven to hell, and why pizza only tastes good after it's been remicrowaved.

He has a sordid history and past, but he's managed to leave it behind him, allowing himself only one thing: a shrine to his late wife, Yuki Tanewaki, who gave her life in order to prevent a hellish, evil force from destroying the world. He becomes very serious where she is concerned, and still wishes he could be with her.

Generally joking, laughing, and being a smartass git, Carthrat is still a force to be reckoned with, as those who anger him must contend with his huge arsenal of strange weapons, never wielded by another man.

He gets very serious in a hostage situation, though, or other situations where his morals are put to the test.Generally, he's willing to put them aside to get the job done, but some situations seem intolerable, and he spends hours trying to discern ways out of them.

He always has an opinion, and usually voices it. Despite his keen intellect and sharp wit, sometimes he just dosn't know when to shut up.

Carthrat has MORE technology than the above at home, but tends not to bring it with him unless he knows he'll need it. The Tachyon Disrupter is usually more than enough.

Carthrat holds strong opinions of freedom: You are always free to do as you wish. If you happen to fuck up and life goes shit for you, tough. But he absolutely detests slavery as a result of his ideals, and takes steps to deal with it if he dosn't think the slaves are being treated properly.

C-Rat forgot two things, so here they go.

Carthrat's Jar is an opaque box, roughly as big as your average cup. It holds ANYTHING that fits inside it, barring things that emit light.  It is made of chemically altered Drow Adamantite.

Carthrat's Gloves are these big, oversized heat-gloves.They afford a great, great, great deal of protection to his Hands, allowing him to pick up most stationary objects or liquids. Of course, they're not useful for delicate tasks.

"Magi-Strober". It looks like a neuraliser, and pretty much does the same thing; incurs memory loss. However, it's only effective against mages, who promptly forget a portion of their spells for a period of time. Easily defeated merely by closing ones eyes. AGainst regular people, all they see is a bright flash- which can still be quite useful."

CyMage (Known Aliases: CM, Cy)

Height:   6'3"
Weight: A bit heavier then he looks.
Hair: Black, cut fairly short.
Eyes: Brown
Complexion: Tanned and slightly weather etched white male.

Appearance: When not trying to pass as a mysterious figure in black robes, CM usualy wears comftorable clothes.  Those usualy consist of combat boots, black jeans, a T-Shirt of some sort, and a black jean jacket.  Depending on the weather a cloak might be worn. A pair of mirrored shades is always visible.  Either in a pocket, on his head, or over his eyes.  All the items, with the exception of the shades are made from normal matterials.

He's a bit on the slim side, but is built sturdily.  He isn't as fragile as he might look.

Equipment:

All of CM's cyberware is inopperative at the moment.  Due to channeling enough magic through his left arm during his career, he's still capable of using it as a normal person would.

Though all his clothes are made from ordinary matterials, they're magicaly enchanted to be more useful.  All the pockets act as small dimensional portals, allowing for greater storage.  The biggest
pockets can hold a couple items about the size of a staff.

Ares Predator Heavy Pistol.  Equiped with the SmartGun system, though still usable without it.  Carried in a shoulder holster.  Usualy loaded with standard ammo.  Three clips of normal, a clip of Explosive and a clip of Gel are always carried as spares.

Staff.  A plain black wood staff. Minor enchantments to make it stronger and lighter.  Capable of storing a few spells.  Usualy loaded with a couple "Get me the hell out of here" spells for emergencies.

Spellcasting

CyMage's true strength lies in his spellcasting abilities.  He has studied magic for a long time.  He has access to all of the more common and uncommon low level spells.  Most of the mid level spells are also known to him.  He currently only has a small amount of the higher level spells accessible.  Most of the high level spells are multi purpose.

Some of CM's favourite spells are:
   
Projected Image: An illusion of the caster appears at a distance.  The caster can see/hear and cast spells through it.
   
Invisibility: The standard 'Now you see me, now you don't' spell.  Excellent for avoiding trouble.

Lower Resistance: Nothing is worse for a spellcaster then a creature that can shrug off magic without
feeling it at all.  This spell attempts to suppress that ability.

Breach Defenses: A useful spell when your opponent can't be hurt by ordinary weapons.  That defense is
striped from the target for a short period of time.

Fireball: A large ball of fire.  Excellent for groups of targets and bombardment.

Fly:  This spell enables the target to fly.  It is perfect for going shorter distances, or getting out of melee range.

Combat

In combat CM tries to stay out of melee.  If he is by himself, he gains altitude and rains spells down from
relative safety.  If he has support, he uses his spells from the ground.  Cy tends to start off with
smaller spells to gauge his targets.  Depending on their effect he quickly adjusts his tactics.  If for some reason Cy is engaged in melee combat, he uses his cybernetic enhancements to surprise his attackers.

Other
   
Cy is fairly skilled at alchemy and herbalism.  He can create minor concotions like smoke powder, minor
acids and flares.  He can also create some minor medicines.  He still goes to a drug store for most of
his medicinal needs.

   
Personality

Cy tends to be friendly most of the time and gets along fine with most people.  He also tends to be hard to anger.  He's also fairly easygoing, but does get exasperated by people who claim to know about things
they realy have no understanding about.


Some people might take him for an easy target, which he is not.  He has seen more then a fair share of combat and adventure.  He has stayed alive this long by being smarter, more devious and more ruthless then most of his opponents and a few times just being too damn stubborn to lay down and die.

He doesn't have much of a past.  He's been a drifter most of his life.  Only in the more recent years has
he stuck around longer.  He is currently the head of Magi Inc., a magic based mercenary 'guild'.  CM tends
to let the rest of the members find their own contracts and doesn't use their services himself.
