Shinichi cautiously slid the doors open again.

Behind the door on the right, Shinichi saw...

A HORROR BEYOND IMAGING!  SOMETHING SO FRIGHTENING THAT THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE CANNOT EVEN...

Oh wait, that's just a library.  Nothing to fear here.  ^_~

On the far door, he saw a staircase, spiraling upwards.  Both routes well lit.

Shinichi scanned both rooms with the zooming feature of his glasses the same way he had back in the cave, looking for any possible trap.

[Dracos]

Shinichi did not detect any traps.

Shinichi followed his scan with infra-red, trying to see whether there were any heat sources that weren't visible to the naked eye in the rooms.

[Dracos]

Nope.  No heat sources that weren't visible with the naked eye here.

[Corwin]

Shinichi stepped onto the stairwell, and looked above, trying to estimate how high it went.

[Dracos]

The stairway curved up what appeared to be about two floor distance.

"We might as well try to go up," Shinichi told Genma, before ascending the stairwell cautiously, his eyes looking for traps.

[Dracos]

Shinichi saw no traps.

Fearless Leader

[Corwin]

Rising one floor, Shinichi stopped, gun in his right hand and his pen held in a guarding position in the left, and took a look around.

[Dracos]

The stairway had a slight pause, a wider plane area, but didn't have an exit there.

Fearless Leader

[Corwin]

Shinichi examined the area more closely for a hidden exit.

If he doesn't find one, he'll go up one more floor exactly the same way he had before.

[Dracos]

Shinichi couldn't find a hidden exit.

Going upstairs, he found an ornate goldent door with a red handle at the end of the stairwell.

Shinichi carefully examined the golden door and the handle, without touching them.
