The gold door seemed to be finely engraved with an image of a phoenix over it.  The handle is some solid red stone coming out of it.

Shinichi examined the door and handle with infra-red.

[Dracos]

Shinichi sensed a slight bit of warmth from the door, but not much.

[Corwin]

Frowning, Shinichi scanned the edges of the door, where it met the walls and floor, to see whether the heat was only in the door itself. He also tried to scan beyond the door and walls, to see whether there were any heat sources in the room beyond.

[Dracos]

The heat was only in the door itself and he could sense small heat sources in the room beyond.  The looked sort of torch sized.

Shinichi relayed his findings to Genma over the radio, and settled to wait for his companion.

[Figment]

Genma acknowledged Shinichi's findings before following him up the stairs, pausing at the landing to take a look before continuing up to examine the door closely.

[Dracos]

The door was an ornate golden door with a red handle.  Engraved into it was an artwork of a phoenix.

Genma ran an experienced eye over the door handle and frame, looking for any telltale signs that might indicate that it was trapped.

[Dracos]

Genma's trained thief eyes did not see any sign of tampering that might indicate a trap.

[Figment]

"I don't see any traps, but I can't be sure that there isn't something magical," Genma relayed to Shinichi as he gazed at the door in thought.

[Corwin]

"Only one way to find out," Shinichi told Genma, and pressed the handle dow with the tip of his gun.

[Figment]

Genma readied himself.

[Dracos]

The handle....

moved downwards only slightly resisting against the pushing force of the gun.

[Corwin]

Wondering, why the door didn't just open when he pushed the handle down, Shinichi pushed it forward with his gun, without moving it from the handle.
