Ge·hen·na

n.
1. A place or state of torment or suffering.
2. The abode of condemned souls; hell.
3. In mage lore, one of the realms of hell.

[Late Latin, from Greek Geenna, from Hebrew gê' hinnm, possibly short for gê' ben hinnm valley of the son of Hinnom, a valley south of Jerusalem : gê', valley of, bound form of gay', valley; see gy in Semitic roots + hinnm, personal name; see hnn in Semitic roots.]

While your search mostly turns up basic works of fiction and fantasy(?) that use the name, this seems like a solid fragment of information.

<Afina> Forever.

<Yuthirin> Afina, giant parasitic rainbow space whale.
<IronDragoon> I mean, why not?

Carthrat

Carthrat is not particularly thrilled with this development, but looks up a few 'real' books containing information on the subject.

You find your way to the historical fiction section, and soon enough to the book in question.

It is a spoof novel of the 80's American corporate scene, with nothing to do with Gehenna besides the title.

Book 2 looks to be a wartime story, and it scans normally. Nothing of value, unless you want to read that sort of thing.

Book 1...Scans normally, but looks to be of interest. It really does seem to be about Gehenna.

Book 3 scans normally as well. It seems to be quasi Christian rantings about magic and it's sinister hand amoung the people.

Book 5 scans with a very minor anomaly, and looks to be authentic.

Book one...

It is a writing about the dangers of hell and it's demons, gods and lures to the weak souled.  It is said to be a realm of fire and ice, with jagged peaks of slicing frost rising from seas of lava. The great domains of hellgods dot the terrain, defying the laws that govern our world.

Various names of demons and gods are listed in it, which you read over a lunch of fish and chips...Azzuroan is in the middle of the list.

Azzuroan -

The god of violence and the morally lost, he is known to appear to powerful warriors that die in despair. He brings them back to a state of life, but corrupts their soul slowly. Fits of unreasoning rage overtake the the victim, transforming him into a demon priest over time.

When the person is finally slain, they become a servant demon to the god when they are not burning in hell. Those marked by the god have a sigil on their forehead that mages and those touched by God can see. Many mages will attempt to slay or banish the poor soul on sight.

This is the salient information in the first book.

<Afina> Forever.

<Yuthirin> Afina, giant parasitic rainbow space whale.
<IronDragoon> I mean, why not?

Carthrat

Carthrat blinks for a moment, then self-conciouslly pulls his hair over his forehead, before slumping down in his seat.

On the one hand, he had a new reason to live.

On the other hand, he was really, really, really fucked up.

Carthrat looks through the book for any information on how this curse can be lifted or cured.. and as a side thought, skims a bit on information for a.. Dimensional Key, was it?

[19:14] <Candide> My brain caught up

Anastasia

There is no information on this book about lifting the curse.  But, there is a brief reference to certain priests being used as 'Keys to other dimensions, via their link to their god'.
