Anastasia

She sits down opposite you and folds her hand together, drawing in several deep breaths.

"Selena...She is the Goddess of Life and the Living. All souls alive fall under her watch, from the baby in the crib to the oldest person rasping out their final breaths. She is the mistress of the flow of everyday living, in the fields of the farmer; the needles of doctors; the living room of a household. All aspects of reasonable, normal living are represented in her existance." Rachel takes another breath, then continues.

"Therefore, she wields power across the spectrum of events. She is a Goddess of Light, for she uses her power to promote simple, happy lives. Her holy writings preach that the right path is one of family, friends and spiritual peace."

<Afina> Forever.

<Yuthirin> Afina, giant parasitic rainbow space whale.
<IronDragoon> I mean, why not?

Carthrat

"Sounds like my polar opposite," replies Carthrat flatly. "Even when I was in perfect control I wasn't what you would call a soldier of life."
[19:14] <Annerose> Aww, mouth not outpacing brain after all?
[19:14] <Candide> My brain caught up

Anastasia

"Perhaps so, Carthrat....and for better or for worse, that path has lead you here." she says, meeting your gaze with her own. "The Goddess also preaches a measure of mercy and hope to those lost outside of this - the ones stricken by insanity, possess by forces beyond this dimension and other disruptions - and, at times, she spurs her clergy forward to defend and defeat these things if they are out of control."

"Even though the Goddess will take action against...people in your situation when she feels it nessesary," she goes on, folding her hands into a steeple shape and shifting in her chair, "don't worry. You seem...No. You are a good person, and the Goddes will help you. I'm sure of it."

Carthrat

Carthrat keeps it to himself, but his mind can't help but reason that the goddess will simply try to extort service from him at some point for her favour. He somehow doubted that gods just *helped* people in need without a very specific reason..

"I hope so. I really do.."
[19:14] <Annerose> Aww, mouth not outpacing brain after all?
[19:14] <Candide> My brain caught up

Anastasia

"I know so, Carthrat." she says with a smile and absolute faith and steel in her voice. "I promise we'll work this out with you."
<Afina> Imagine a tiny pixie boot stamping on a devil's face.
<Afina> Forever.

<Yuthirin> Afina, giant parasitic rainbow space whale.
<IronDragoon> I mean, why not?

Carthrat

"And I truly thank you for that. There aren't many people in this world who'll stick out their neck for someone else anymore.."
[19:14] <Annerose> Aww, mouth not outpacing brain after all?
[19:14] <Candide> My brain caught up

Anastasia

She begins to speak, but laughs lightly instead.

"Yes...I hate to admit it, but you may be right. But...That's all the more reason for us to help you. If no one else will..." she leaves the statement hanging.

Carthrat

Carthrat chuckles. "Ahh, we mortals all have our faults. Most humans see only their own little worlds, which orbit handily around their own heads... the ironies of our lives!"
[19:14] <Annerose> Aww, mouth not outpacing brain after all?
[19:14] <Candide> My brain caught up

Anastasia

"Indeed," she says, "Verily!" she giggles brightly.

OOC: Okay, time to skip time! YEAH! YAY! WE CAN DO IT!

----

A few hours of idle discussion later....

You are sitting in the living room yet again, Diane recently having come back.

"Let us get to brass tacks, Mr. Tanewaki," Diane says in a brisk, business like tone. "As I understand it, purging yourself of the touch of Azzuroan is not an easy task. As I understand it, there are only a few methods to achieve this.

The first method requires the use of a properly worded Wish of a high level white mage. If you can find a white mage willing to do this, you're set...the hard part is finding a white mage.

The second way is to become a fully accepted priest of a God or Goddess. The inherent problem is that only the darkest Gods would accept one touched by Azzuroan as a potentional acolyte, let alone a cleric. I don't really see this as a viable option...do you?

The third way would be to destroy Azzuroan. That's not going to happen, I think.

The last viable way to do it would be to get your hands on a artifact that restores the soul, White Glow. Goddess only knows where it is, however.

There are....other methods as well, but they are either completely infeasable or the cost of the cure is too high." she finishes.

Carthrat

"As much as I'm sure I'd enjoy trying the third method, I doubt it'll work. And there's no god I know of that I can truly relate to, even if he would take me on. As I understand it, the only way that could work is if I truly cared enough to try.

A powerful White Mage.. ahh, if there was one for every five powerful Black Mages I knew, I'd be set. A not completely unfeasable option; but apart from the fact that I don't know one offhand, I doubt I'll find one, simply because I don't know of any. Healing magicks are in demand.

So that leaves a Legendary Artifact, which is doubtless either in some forgotten temple underneath a desert in a country nobody goes to, or sitting in some rich bastards trophy room. Equally unaccesable. "

Carthrat scratches his head. "What do you think, Rachel?"

Rachel nods. "I agree with what you said....Two and Three are out. That leaves trying to find a white mage willing to do it or an artifact," She frowns, scowling. "Pick your poison."

Carthrat

"We'll try the artifact... I'm through with the underworld, at least for now. Too many scars."

Carthrat sighs to himself. "I'd best beging searching for something straight away.. what do you know about it?"
