Heh.  A good deal of games Jeram, do not involve party conflict.  It is ignored, you don't have to worry about your relationship with fellow party members.  Alignment is more than just a marking on the page.  Personally, for me, I tend to go a step further and play through what ought be played.  The Depth of the character and such.  To help you out for further games, I'll do a quick breakdown of where you went wrong.

Post one, you utilized stuff that if not direct ooc, was pretty damn close.  As I said, this annoys players and gms alike.  For me, that stuck you in the fodder category off the bat.  It's nothing personal, I just find sticking around fodder is a quick way to die, so I tend to categorize them and then get away from them.  You'll notice the fragmentation of the party into small groups.  This wasn't accidental at all.

Later, you managed to follow us when we went through with the plan to separate off.  Personally, I congratulate you for this.  Not bad at all.  Sure, it wasn't necessarily the wisest thing to follow me at this moment, but managing to do it wasn't half bad.  You had a chance here.  Sure, you were classified as fodder, but fodder occassionally proves itself intelligent, clever, or useful enough to put up with.  So, things went on...and then you decided to show off.  Bad, a newbie mistake.  Think about in real life how real experts act compared to newbies.  Someone secure in their skills doesn't have to show off.  Either to npcs or players.  If they do show off, it's generally for a purpose, usually to impress/intimidate npcs or fellow players.  Noticiably, the second option in this case, isn't good either.  Attempting to intimidate/awe your fellow players at the moment only annoys them.  Especially when we didn't even know your name.  Moreso, you tried to cast magic after already seeing out of character that there was problems with it.  Bad idea.  Your question would have stood just as well without the attempt to show off your skills.  Or you could have waited for the person already effected to get off her question.  Either way, at this time your character was acting like a newbie grunt.  All spit and piss, no substance.  And that's what he got treated like.  Unlike in a party of good people of your same race, where you are likely to get slack for this kind of action, you were nearby an evil character who indeed didn't like 'scrawny humans' (Which, as far as I knew, you were) at all.  Putting up with incompetence and newbism isn't done in that sort of culture.  Especially from a human.  What would actually have been more likely is if I'd simply cracked your neck and tossed you aside at the first pass for being a worthless waste of human flesh.

Instead, I took the more nice route that was avaliable to me.  I treated you as a newbie grunt under a drill sargaent.  When you spoke back, you got mashed.  When something more important came up, you got tossed to the side like the worthless bag my character saw you as.  Now, here you had another chance to try and make a good impression on my character, the party at large, and the sage who was hiring us.  I mean, it's amazing what can be forgiven for a character who is either powerful or intelligent in battle.  Giving some demonstration of your power in battle is always a good thing.  The better demonstration of strategy and ability the better.  You really didn't do this.  You were wearing leather and fighting wolves.  Right off, not the best idea if you can't take them down well before they get to you or can easily outmanuever them.  Now, most of the others also did this.  But they either realized on their own or were recriminated that doing it was a bad idea.  I personally held my ground because I had no reason whatsoever in character to come save you guys.  All of you existed as scrawny, weak ass individuals to me at the moment.  To my character, the wolves were nothing because I was armored in such a fashion that they really couldn't do any damage to me.  Therefore, I simply awaited them.  The other two characters tried to utilize this shortly after the fight began, running back to me, but notably not trying to get close so they'd hamper my fighting (A good idea as my ogre would have cut them right down with the wolves had they presented any increase in the threat level at the moment).  Of course, while a good idea, a better one would have been to just run FAST instead of carefully back behind me to pull ranks with the other mages and lend support.  By declaring they were purposely moving backwards and watching my sword arc, they indicated they were moving slowly, and Figment at the least got punished for it.  Now you made the mistake here of mimicry.  Whereas their actions were wise, you, already way too close to battle, alone, and flanked with no support coming to help you, ended up just showing your back to the wolves when you turned to check on my character.  Not a good idea, and a newbie fighter mistake.  Which was noted by my ogre, lowering his estimation of you even further.  Finally, after killing the ones who passed you and got within reach of me, I noticed that you still hadn't dealt with your enemies.

Not good.  That leaves a bad impression especially with them apparently winning.  I came up to kill both you and them.  This was your last chance pretty much for survival.  O'karn didn't think you were worth the time to save and instead viewed you as merely another obstacle for his sword at the moment.  This wasn't the time to hesitate or ponder or meander.  This was: "The big guy is about to kill me.  How the hell do I not die?"  You saw the post before you responded.  You had time to think it over.  And your decision in the end was to fool around with the wolves instead of paying to something that had clearly demonstrated itself as a greater threat than the entire party of wolves.  Not smart.  Had I been in your position, amazingly enough, I would have kicked/thrown the wolf off of me any way I could, towards O'karn's blade, hoping to slow or deflect it somewhat, and rolled as fast as I could out of the way, while screaming indications that I was being attacked, so that the other good players in the party had their hands forced and had to interfere in one way or another.  Staying to take the hit was a death decision.  You weren't going to survive it.  Having the presence of mind to classify what is more important to pay attention to:
The wolves who will just injure you slightly or annoy you
or
the ogre who will definitely kill you if he connects

Is very important in a game.  Hope you learn from this.  Moral generally is not to assume so much.  Pay attention to circumstances and your party members.  The circumstances of this campaign do not warrent you playing as if you are a new unbroken recruit.  And not paying attention to the various intrigues in your party can, as often as not, lead to death.  As it did here.

Trunky, you need to get within 10 yards.  You should choose your target now if you're going to throw your chain.

I won't be available to post for the rest of today.  I'll catch up with everyone in the morning.

Um...

Alita, question.

You said earlier that the wolf impacted with Nirae's chest. The next time you mentioned the wolf, it was biting at her face.

Not to be dissentious, but I don't believe that's possible.

I might not know a terrible lot about things, but I do know animals.  And I have never seen a wolf lead with it's forelegs in a leap, which is what would have had to happen for it to bite Nirae's face.  Wolves lead with their teeth, especially in an attack rush/leap, maybe because the danger of breaking their forelimbs is overweighed by the impracticality and lack of usefulness in striking prey with their forelegs.

Plus, if the wolf was close enough that it could leap straight up and bite Nirae's face or throat with an aim for the chest, it wouldn't jump. It'd rush forwards and try to hamstring her.

So, I believe that in order to bite Nirae's jaw, the wolf would have had to be aiming for Nirae's face.  Not the chest, which is what dictated my response post for her.

Besides, Nirae's short but she's not a *midget*! ^_^;  The wolf would *have* to leap to impact her in the chest!

I won't discount your knowledge of wolves.

The animal did leap.
It failed it's throw at your neck.  You had just dispatched the first beast and your head/neck was moving from side to side.
It followed up with its forepaws and chest.
and went again for your throat on the way down, getting your chin before you threw it off.

and who said they were wolves in anyway except shape?

To the GM:

The attack patern you set them using is a dead give away.

Priss

Okay.  I was just wondering since it didn't seem to make any sense the way it was written.

Plus, I wanted clarification before I made a post that may have been a VERY bad idea.

Good thing I waited! @_@

Panda, Then the question arises why you didn't bring it up when it could have done some good, like during the attack?

And if you knew that, why haven't you asked Arakanel about it?  It's been a day.

So I think, yes, your musing is a result of conversations with the GM, and his reply to Priss.

Consequences, none.  It was meant as a gentle warning.

Carthrat, where are you?

The main question is if you want to join the rest of the adventurers downstairs or continue your session with Lafiel.

Carthrat

Carthrat has posted.

Carthrat, as perhaps you well know, is not particularly fond of waking up to see 60+ posts on his window, with exactly 1 (one) for him, often very small. Hence why he may sometimes not reply until kicked.

Cathrat, 2 things.

1)  what is your schedule?  -  as to if you can't alter yours, maybe I can alter mine.
2)  not the best solution, but maybe if you PM'd me a list of actions, or had AIM when not around I could post to the game for you and help you keep up that way.

oh, and you're poked again.

Oi!

What's up with Nirae and Rackham?

I lost them in all the nattering about maps and magic!

And Nirae's like... ANTI-magic!
