Pocketing the coins and knife, Devon slings the unconcious man over his shoulder and picks up a chest before following O'karn.

Devon and O'karn head back the way they came.  The stairs leading up to the rear courtyard are visible as well as another door, that presumably would enter the castle, it's currently open.  There was also another door, on the surface, directly above the one that is open.

ooc: unless you plan to climb the balcony again, or walk around the front, I need to know how you're getting back to the place you came from.

edit more ooc:  There's the tunnel you're currently in.  One direction leads to where the porters were headed, the other leads to an open door about where the castle is located.  There's also a small set of stairs leading into the courtyard you jumped down into.  There was a door there that you ran by, and the balcony you jumped from.

Walking up the stairs, the pair wades through the dead bodies.  Walking through the door they open, Devon recognizes the hallway they enter from his earlier excursions.   Taking the lead, he navigtes the basement tunnels up a set of stairs into another hallway.  Taking a second to check, he walks down to the doorway at the end, leading to the grand hallway.  Turning towards the throne room, they see a slender man walk out of it.  He stops and looks at them and says,  "Oh.  You must be the other two Lafiel mentioned."

[Dracos]

O'karn blinks and gruffly responds, "Who are you?"

[kpjam]

Rin frowns, as his eyes take in the sight of the two.   "I'm Lafiel's protector.  We escaped the invaders and have been talking to your comrades inside.  Lafiel went to get ready to sneak into their base, and I go to meet her.  I don't know what your allies plan, but they're still in the room behind me."

[Dracos]

O'karn grunted and walked past the fellow into the room dumping the chests and looking who else had joined the group while he was looting.

O'karn notes that the room is as he left it, with all his comrades there and no additions.

[Carthrat]

"Well, what are we going to do?" says Daggedal, to everyone. "We can either help her or run off somewhere and eke out lives for ourselves here, given that I don't think Arkanel is about to send us back now."

[Dracos]

"Eh?  What's going on with some of them still being alive?"  O'karn plops down the treasure, grunting in displeasure and thumbing back clearly referencing the guy who had been coming out of there.

Following O'karn into the room, Devon sets down the chest and dumps the man unceremoniously onto the floor.

[Merc]

"I say we help her. S'gotta better than being stuck here," Remdos replies to Daggedal's question. "I doubt we'd be allowed to just live in peace if we wanted to anyhow. Double crossers tend to like to wrap loose ends, and that's us for Arkanel."

[Carthrat]

"Arkanel isn't your typical double-crosser," notes Daggedal. "He must be particularly stupid to summon us up, then do all the dirty work himself.

Or he could have some incredibly clever plan in wait for us, which isn't what I want to run into at all."

[Merc]

"No bloody doubts about his typicalness," Remdos agrees. "But I doubt he has some fiendish plot waiting for us. If anything, I think we were just a distraction for our would-be target while he attacked in force. Now those forces will be hunting for us."

[Corwin]

"Or it could all be the work of someone else," Miaka says, approaching them. "We know there are more strong magic users in this land except for Arkanel and Zaphiel. Maybe Arkanel was himself a distraction against Zaphiel as well."

[Dracos]

O'karn, quite annoyed at not getting an answer, idly hauls the nearest chatty person up by their shirt and demands, in the "I won't kill you if you answer quickly" tone, "What's going on with the living people who aren't dead or one of us?"
