Arkanel rang the bell, and Clara entered quickly.

"Get the boy, so he can lead our friend to a blacksmith," he ordered.

A few moments later, the boy, wearing a white shirt came into the room.

"Ah, good, good.  Please escort our guest to Master Gilbert's."

The boy nodded, and walked out of the room.

Daggedal follows the kid, taking a good look at his surroundings as he does so..

On a whim, Miaka decided to feel for the magic in Lafiel.

[kpjam]

Miaka felt the overpowering presence of magic before her stomach cramped and her concentration slipped.

Lafiel looked at her, "Is everything okay?"

O'karn pulled out his sleeping equipment and set up for the night.

Rackham returned, grumbling several orcish obsenities, and plopped down next to Nirae with a chunk of meat in his hand.  "There goes your meal, unless you want to eat the meat raw as well."  

He then tore into the meat with obvious pleasure, after handing Nirae back her hawk.

After finishing his 'food,' Rackham glanced over at the hides, noticing that they were dry.  He then proceeded to go over to them, and started scraping them of any flesh left with the stone he found earlier.

While scraping, he remembered that Nirae hadn't answered his previous question.  Rackham asked irritably, "Did you pick up your gems?"

Jeremiah hummed a moment as Daggedal left.

"These followers he acquired - how has he been acquiring them, exactly?  Has he been recruiting people, or have they heard about him and gone to join of their own accord?"

[Corwin]

"I ate too fast. "Her face contorting in pain, Miaka continued, "That has to be it. I couldn't have overeaten. There's no such thing as having too much food."

Her features relaxed somewhat as the cramps lessened. "Well, either that, or this problem with magic is affecting me."

Panicking, she grabbed her head. "I'll starve to death if I can't sense food. NOOO!!!"

Arkanel frowned.  "Some of the people have been from town, how exactly he convinced them to follow him is beyond my current knowledge.  Although, there are definitely more people there than have left this village, and there haven't been reports of strangers traveling through the valley."

Lafiel eyes widdened at Miaka's display.  "I'm sure Clara will pack you a nice lunch if you ask her," she mentioned to the other woman in a soft, patient voice.

[Corwin]

Miaka brightened up considerably. "Good idea!" she chirped, a slight bit of drool escaping the side of her mouth before she quickly wiped it away.

"Can I ask you something?" she said suddenly, changing the topic. "Could you tell me more about that teleporter rod and how it works?"

[kpjam]

Lafiel looked at the other girl.  "The rod is attuned to the base.  It take the person holding it, and any linked to it to wherever that base is.  How it was constructed, I don't know.  It's supposed to be able to transport four people linked.  If that's a mass limitation or something else, I'm not sure.  Magic, although I know a little about how to make it work, I understand very little about how it works."

She looked at the table, "Clara said you ate an entire pig before, and now this... I can't believe someone of your size... sorry, that was rude."

[Corwin]

"I'm a growing girl," Miaka said, slightly defensive.

She tapped her forehead in thought. "The teleporting rod sounds like a nice toy. I wonder... do you have any other magical items? Maybe ones on the peaceful side?"

[kpjam]

"I don't," she replied quickly.  "My Uncle has one or two others, but I'm not sure what they do?"

[Corwin]

"Oh. A bottomless pouch of ice-cream was too much to hope for, anyway," Miaka said dejectedly. Cocking her head, she asked, "How about Zaphiel? Any idea whether he has any of them?"
