Zaphiel chuckled again, cutting Lafiel protest off before it was voiced. "I could ask you to define you're interpretation of evil?  But without getting into a deep philosophical debate, I can answer as follows: I don't think of myself as evil, though Arkanel seems to think I am, and others will agree with him. Please have a seat, if we're going to be involved in a long conversation, I think sitting and enjoying the rest of breakfast is in order." He motioned for a seat across from the elderly gentleman. "Lafiel, sit too, please." She grumbled, and waited for Miaka's response.

"Anyone who enjoys breakfast can't be fully evil," Miaka admitted grudgingly, and sat down at the table.  "Where's my portion?" she asked, looking around for it.

Zaphiel snapped his fingers.  One of two serving boys who had been positioned behind him took a few plates from the cabinet situated next to him. Running forward, he placed one down in front of both Miaka and Lafiel, who had sat in response to Miaka. The other boy ran through a doorway that was situated close to him. Miaka could see the outlines of a kitchen when the door opened for a few moments.

"I am sorry for how you were brought here. But secrecy in certain regards can't be taken too lightly," Zaphiel said. The boy returned shortly with a large tray that had several portions of the breakfast foods Miaka had already consumed upon them. He returned to the table and set them in the middle, while the first boy had retrieved napkins, glasses and pitchers of juice and water.

Miaka shrugged. "And you obviously didn't trust my words enough to leave me with my stuff, right?"

"Should I?" Zaphiel asked. "And what words have you given to me? You said yourself you would kill me if you deemed it necessary."

"I promised Lafiel I wasn't going to attack anyone while meeting you, which obviously included you, Zaphiel." Miaka smiled thinly. "Besides, you're still alive, aren't you?"

"You never promised that!?" Lafiel said angrily.

"Did so!" Miaka replied, pulling down her eyelid and raspberrying Lafiel

"When!" Lafiel cried

"When I told you that my stuff was too dangerous to leave unguarded, and that I will bring it with me!" Miaka exclaimed, matching Lafiel's tone of voice.

Lafiel looked deflated for a second, "oh... maybe you did. But why should I trust someone who was recruited to assassinate my father?!"

Miaka palmed her forehead. "Fine, have it your way. You'd make a wonderful revisionist historian on my world." Turning to look firmly at Zaphiel while pointedly ignoring Lafiel, she said, "None of the things in my backpack are related to my powers. They were mementos from my friends, the Celestial Warriors of Suzaku. Like I said, I just came here to talk. So let's talk--" She smiled suddenly. "After breakfast!"

Lafiel sputtered as Zaphiel laughed at the two women. "Anyway, I think that's a good idea. but first, Martin," he addressed one of the soldiers standing behind Miaka, "Will you get the lady her belongings, minus the transporter rod." One of the soldiers nodded, and walked off. "Let's eat." And he preceded to do so, while Lafiel stewed before she grudgingly began to eat food herself.

Miaka tore at the food, enjoying the flavors. A small voice in her head insisted that the food might be poisoned, but she never paid it any mind before in her life, and wasn't about to start now.

"So... you wished to speak to me?" Zaphiel asked in-between bites.

"Yep," Miaka replied, wiping her lips off with her napkin, having finished the food on her plate. "Are you forming an army?" she asked bluntly.

"Yes," Zaphiel responded.  "Would you like to join?"
Miaka blinked. "Why should I?"

"To help free the land from the old ones," Zaphiel responded.

Miaka blinked again. "The who?"

Zaphiel paused in his eating, looking directly at the young girl.  "There is no real name for them, so I dubbed them old ones or ancients. They are the ones who built this place, placed the restrictions upon magic, placed the Chosen above all others, and must be stopped."

"I see," Miaka mused. "You're talking about the ones who had that war Arkanel mentioned...." Suddenly remembering something, she asked, "But then, why haven't you told this to Arkanel? Instead, you threatened to kill him!"

"Kill him. Why would I kill him?" Zaphiel asked, confused.

"Umm..." Miaka fished for words. "He said you wanted to? Oh! He also said you killed several of the men he sent into Camelot. You don't deny that, do you?"

Zaphiel paused for mimunte before answerering, "Men have been killed as they tried to interfere with working around here. I don't deny that. Although unlikely, if the old ones have found out my intent, they will be attack and my men are training to defend themselves."
