"Very few people live outside the valley.  Maybe 50.  In the city, there are a few thousand, including the farms outside the city limits.  The castle, while I'm sure it holds up to a thousand, I don't know it's current population.  I don't understand, but the supplies they're ordering are for more than could have migrated from this town."  He looked down at his hands frowning as he talked.

Devon leaned back in his chair and pondered for a moment, "Can you give an estimate on how many people the supplies that they are ordering could feed?"

kpjam

"A wagon load of foodstuff every two days.  Occasoinally a second wagon.  I'm not that good at estimations like that.  A couple hudred," he responded.

Clara returned, placing a plate of sliced pork and corn on in front of the others.  A fork and knife was given to each along with a cloth napkin.

"If you need anything else, let me know," she said politely before withrawing.

Daggedal snorts. "Well, aye hope that at least magick equipment works. Seems the idiot sage didn' decide ta warn us. Feh. Dos 'e know nuffin' 'bout the people 'es 'ired?"
[19:14] <Annerose> Aww, mouth not outpacing brain after all?
[19:14] <Candide> My brain caught up

Lafiel looked at Daggedal quizzically,  "Magic equipment?"  She looked thoughtful for a moment.

"Oh, you mean rings and the teleporter device!" she exclaimed happily.  "They work, or at least mine does."

"You have such a strange way of saying things.  And My uncle didn't tell me about what he looked for when he recruited.  Maybe he thought you'd be capable of using your magic, being from a different planet or dimension or whatever.  Anyway, standing in the hallway is getting nothing accomplished.  Did you want to go wait for your friends somewhere and talk?"

She took a few steps down the hallway and looked back expectently at Daggedal, the halwway, whihc moved perpendicular to the stairs they had walked up, led past two doorways to the right, one to the left, and ended in a stairway leading down.

Glancing at the large, roasted pig in front of O'karn, Miaka asked hopefully, "Could I get the big guy's portion as well?"

Akranel looked astonished, but nodded to the young girl.  He rang the bell, and Clara entered.

"The young lady would like her own animal as well," he said, strain evident in his voice.

Clara smiled and then nodded before withdrawing.

Miaka resisted clapping her hands, and just beamed at Arkanel, before turning to look anxiously in the direction Clara had left.

"I couldn't help but notice that you possessed some healing ability," Devon smiled ruefully.  "Do you perchance know where we could obtain any items that mimic this ability?"

kpjam

Arkanel responded to Devon, "A merchant in the city has been known to mix some salves that will help with cuts and infections.  He also has some potions that will releave fever or minor stomach problems.  Although nothing he sells is really comparible with the aid I gave you earlier."

Clara returned, carrying a nicely roasted pig and set it down in front of Miaka.

She stood there for a second, looking at the small girl intently.

"Clara, you may leave," Arkanel ordered.

The girl looked shamefaced, but mumbled an apology and left.

Miaka thanked Clara before she left the hearing range, digging into the food with her normal gusto afterwards. "I have something that might help there," she got out between bites, in reply to Devon's question.

"Ah, Miaka, was it?  What is it that you have?" Devon inquired.

Corwin

"Some really nifty white powder!" Miaka chirped, having eaten a third of the pig already. "You snort it, and you're as good as new!"

Figment

"You... snort it?" Devon sounded dubious.

Corwin

"You don't have to do it if you don't want to," Miaka replied defensively, her voice taking on a hurt tone.
