Not needing to hear this particular discussion again, Devon followed O'karn outside and glanced around.

Annoyed, Arael followed the cute guy with the green eyes outside.

"I bet if the water in this place made metal explode he'd blame us for not knowing that. As well. Stupid old man," she muttered darkly, after they had left the dining area.

Arkanel looked to Jeremiah.  "Where and when?  The best answer is that the ancient winners deemed magic too dangerous and susceptible to corruption by the masses, and removed it from most.  I assume at or near the end of the war, and there stronghold was Camelot.

"That is the most I know, as succinctly as I can say it."

Devon and Arael walked out the front door, standing next to O'karn on the front steps.  There was a small yard in front that wrapped around the house out back while people walked by in front, taking furtive glances at the people standing out front.

Figment

Walking around behind the house, Devon stood on the shore of the lake and gazed out across the tranquil waters.

"It's hard to imagine that places like this really do exist.  Even with the threat of war, it seems so... peaceful," he muttered softly to himself, sounding almost, wistful.

A small dock was behind the property, a single boat tied to it.

Devon looked on to the lake, it could have been a small sea for its size.  The far shores were invisible to the naked eye.   A few boats could be seen in the distance, down the shore; Devon believed they were fishing craft.  A small island in the sea could be seen in the distance, an indistinct building atop it.  The shore was grassy, no beach could be seen.

Nirae grimaced again, but did as she was told, sipping down a little more of the foul-tasting draft.

"Rackham," She stated, nodding towards the two wolves she had slain. "Those two, if you would, mind skinning them up for me? I'm in a bit of a twist right now and am not in much the shape to hack up wolf carcasses right now."

Besides... she had other things to ponder. Like the wierd feeling she had been getting from the wolves.

A totem maybe? Some kind of magical artifact? Those things always gave her the... willies.

But at any rate, she tossed her hawk lightly to Rackham, being careful not to actually throw it in a way as to harm him, then climbed to her feet and went about retreiving her other weapons.

"Try me 'hawk instead of that rock for cutting up the beasts. It's sharper and should save us time."

Nirae finished 3/4 of the bottle, letting the healing properties take effect.  She felt her jaw finish mending along with her muscles and ligiments.  Her skin looked aweful... patches of skin still missing, but she felt fully function, if still a bit sore.

Pulling out a pair of binoculars, Devon took a closer look at the structure on the island.

Devon could see an amphitheater.  The seats faced a domed area; a narrow pyramid on top of it.  The tip of the pyramid was a ruby color while the rest of the structure appeared marble from the distance.

O'karn and Areal watched as two men made their way up the walkway.  Both young men were in their early twenties with sandy blond hair.  One, the one who seemed to be in better shape than the other, wore a brown tunic and pants.  The other, while skinny, lacked the grace and apparent build of his partner.  His attire was a white tunic with brown pants.  Both looked apprehensively at the two standing on the steps, but moved passed, towards the door.

Dracos

O'karn peered at them, turning his head towards the one in better shape, "You, are you the human familiar with the mountains?"

Well, Goodbye.

Both men stop and look at the large-not-really-human looking man.  "I... I've climbed... into the mountains before," the one wearing the brown tunic, stammered out.

Looking up at the sky, Devon sighed and walked back towards the front of the house, stowing his binoculars as he went.

'It looks like the sun will be setting soon. I'd better get some rest before I go scout the castle later tonight.'

Dracos

"Only just climbed?  Not traveled around them?" O'karn's eyes narrowed as he looked closer over the human.
