They're coming to take me away, ha-ha...

This is okay, Megan says, relaxing suddenly, and smiling brightly.  "I feel wonderful, doctor," she says cheerfully.  "I couldn't be better!"  I can see it!  Dr. Peterson is going to die -- and soon.  We just need to hold out another day or two.  I don't know how or why, yet....  "How are you feeling?"

"Marvelous," he says, his expression becoming somewhat skeptical.  "Are you ready for another run of the P-series tests?"

Broken dice, broken dice ... just hang in, and keep planning, she sends.

The doctor nods doubtfully.  "Come along, then," he says.

Richmond turns to you.  "Mr. Christianson?" he asks.  "And how are you doing?"

Bjorn

You take care of yourself, Bjorn replies.  The plan is to get all of us out of here, remember.

Out loud (I'm getting better at this whole dual-conversation thing), he answers, "I didn't sleep all that well, honestly.  I can't quite figure out what time it is, so my sleep schedule is all messed up."

Brian

"Mmmm," Richmond replies absently, watching Megan follow Peterson out the door.  After a pause, just at the point of awkwardness, he turns back, shaking his head suddenly.  "The time?" he asks.  "Oh, yes, that is an-- an obstacle we must adjust to."  You barely catch the stutter in his voice.  "Regardless, are you prepared for C-series testing today?"  The guards that had escorted Peterson to the door double back to watch you carefully.

Bjorn

"Well, I rather suppose that depends on what C-testing involves," Bjorn says drily.  Rather than look at Peterson, though, he stares the two guards right in the eye, smiling very faintly in amusement.

Brian

"Materials handling," Richmond says, trying to offer you a reassuring smile.  You get the sense it's more for his own benefit than yours.  "You saw Bridgett working there yesterday."

Bjorn

"Ah, right."  Bjorn nods.  "Still, it wasn't really a test with Bridgett, right?  I mean, you know what she can do.  How is it going to work with me, when neither of us knows if I can manipulate anything?"

As he speaks, Bjorn breaks off eye-contact with the guards, assuming a more normal (and reassuring) demeanour.

Brian

"Well, we'll find out," Richmond says, shrugging.  "There was a reaction yesterday, so I'd like to find out if some kind of specific material causes a resonance in your bracelet."

You're led quickly to the C-series testing chamber, which looks like a mad-man's vision of an arts and crafts shop.  While there are fist-sized bits of metal (and stone, wood, cloth, plastic, etc.) within easy reach, this time you're accompanied by the S.W.A.T. armored guards the entire distance.

Bjorn

Don't worry, boys.  You ain't got nothin' to worry about yet.

"So how are we going to start?"  Bjorn asks cheerfully.  "Bending paperclips?  Or maybe cutlery?  It'll have to be forks, though, because there is no spoon."

Maybe my power is making people die from horrible jokes!

Brian

"Well, why not handle the various material, see if anything speaks out or seems abnormal to you," Richmond suggests, indicating a pile of rocks.  "We'll see if the bracelet reacts to anything.  It may be that the bracelet actually reacts to other people's powers, which will be more difficult to test.  Hmm, maybe we should see if one of the telepaths is able to reach your mind?  That might be worthwhile."  He scribbles something on his PDA, though still looks a bit upset about something.

Bjorn

"Wouldn't that be a part of the M-series tests?"  Bjorn asks, as he starts picking up various materials (starting with the metal, though he doesn't think he's that lucky), and turning it over in his hands.   The question, though, is a bit distracted, as he's actually concentrating on trying to morph the material into the shape of a smooth sphere -- a fairly innocuous accomplishment that wouldn't overly upset the guards.

Brian

The metal seems indifferent to your efforts.

"Oh, well, I suppose it would be," the doctor agrees with a small sigh.  "Hmm.  No reaction yet.  Perhaps it's some energy instead of matter?"

Bjorn

Bjorn shrugs, puts the lump of metal down, and focusses on trying to set it on fire.

If I think about it exploding in an inferno that consumes the table, maybe it will warm up.

Brian

It does not, in fact, heat up.  But as before, thinking of Ashnod and the fire that came at you on the highway does evoke a reaction from the bracelet.  It's now glowing, though very softly.

The guards shift uneasily, and Richmond seems surprised.  "Iron?" he asks, peering at the metal.  "Hmm.  Interesting."

Death starts looking around for any cameras or air vents, then checks the ceiling to see if what kind of light fixture this room has and to check if this room has been set up with a sprinkler system on the ceiling by any chance?
"Wonderful, we're probably all going to die now."

Brian

Shade:  Your room is square, has an air duct above both the door, and the wall opposite it, is solid cement (except for the floor, which is linoleum), and after climbing on the bed to look, you would guess that there is a camera in each vent.

The ceiling has four rectangular cuts in it, each with a row of florescent lights within.  There's a heavy iron grill (patterned like leaves) bolted over the top of it.

You're pondering dragging the dresser over to the vent above the door, to see if there's a camera there, when someone knocks loudly.
